Survivor 25 – Philippines – Preview – by MelTheHound
Get ready kids, it’s coming. Survivor premiers Wednesday September 19, 2012. It’s a 90 minute episode so make sure your DVRs will hold it if like me, you watch after the normal air time (I don’t watch anything in real time). This season is billed as Second Chance as there will be 3 returning members from past seasons. These returning members are some of those who have been evacuated from the game for medical reasons. When I first heard that, I was askeered that everyone’s favorite to hate, Colton, would be returning as he was taken away about half way through last season (Survivor One World) with a flare up of appendicitis. I’m not going into why I was happy he was gone and even more happy he won’t be returning.
I am not what you would call a superfan who has seen all of these shows. The first time I tried to watch any of season one, there was Richard Hatch running around nekid and I decided this wasn’t for me. I started watching a couple of seasons ago when they brought back Coach (Benjamin) and Ozzy. I don’t know about you all but I really dislike when they recycle these reality game show players. Not because they can’t play the game but because they come in as lord and master of the house and that’s the way everyone treats them on the show. It’s as if they are given a second chance to play the game with an almost guaranteed win. Think Brenchel returning to Big Brother last summer. They were also on The Amazing Race but I didn’t find them nearly as annoying as I did on Big Brother.
Last season it was Men vs Women until the reshuffle followed by the merge. Or so the men thought. It was always Men vs Women and I have to give it up to the ladies, they played the men masterfully, especially the winner, Kim. At first the women couldn’t get a win to save their lives but as we all saw, as the men began thinking with the wrong one, the women began to win the game and the momentum never really shifted back to the men. Until the merge, there were always two tribes but before then, they were shuffled into two coed teams. Just before then the men made one of their fatal mistakes by agreeing to give up team immunity so they could get rid of one of the one’s Colton hated the most – Bill. The men on the island never really recovered from that as it gave the women a numbers advantage and from there, the women just picked the men off one by one.
This season, there are three tribes. The information below was borrowed from SurvivorFandom.com though I’m certain it’s the same info on the CBS Website (which SUXXXX). You may see a name or two you recognize on these lists. The most notable to me, Lisa Whelchel, Once known as Blair on the TV show, Facts Of Life. Since then for the most part, she’s been a mom and working for her church (or with or dedicated to it, whichever you prefer). Note that she is not the oldest one of the bunch but I don’t think she lasts very long. Just a gut feeling.
Kalabaw (Water Buffalo) Tribe
- Sarah Dawson, 28, Silver Spring, Maryland, insurance salesperson
- Katie Hanson, 22, Newark, Delaware, 2011 Miss Delaware
- Jeff Kent, 44, Austin, Texas, former Major League Baseball All Star
- Dana Lambert, 32, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, cosmetologist
- Carter Williams, 24, Shawnee, Kansas, coach
Matsing (Monkey) Tribe
- Malcolm Freberg, 25, Hermosa Beach, California, bartender
- Zane Knight, 28, Danville, Virginia, tire repairman
- Angie Layton, 20, Provo, Utah, model and former Miss Utah Teen USA
- Roxanne “Roxy” Morris, 28, Brooklyn, seminary student
- Denise Stapley, 41, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, therapist
Tandang (Rooster) Tribe
- Abi-Maria Gomes, 32, Los Angeles, student
- Roberta “RC” Saint-Amour, 27, New York, banker
- Artis Silvester, 53, Terry Town, Louisiana, computer engineer
- Lisa Whelchel, 49, Dallas, former star TV’s “The Facts of Life”
- Peter “Pete” Yurkowski, 24, Holmdel, New Jersey, engineering graduate
There are also, as mentioned, 3 people returning from past seasons. They are:
The final three castaways for Survivor 2012 have been confirmed. Michael Skupin, Jonathan Penner and Russell Swan. Before the CBS website crapped out on me, Michael is the only one I could get any locale info on. He’s from White Lake, Michigan which isn’t too far from where I live. Not that it matters any, just thought you might find it a little interesting. Here’s another C&P from the Survivor Fandom website (which again, I think came from CBS):
Michael, Jonathan and Russell were all taken out of the Survivor game for medical reasons and have been given a second chance. Michael show’s first medical evacuation ever in Survivor: Australian Outback. Jonathan’s return will be his third time playing the game. His last attempt ended in injury during the Micronesia season. Russell was removed from Survivor: Samoa for severe dehydration.
Buckle up, I get the feeling these are going to be a couple bumpy rides with all the backstabbing and strategerizing that goes on. For right now that’s about all I have for you folks. I’m sure I’ll be back shortly with a similar preview of The Amazing Race.
Til then, Peace.
Radar Online is Reporting that Adrienne is Getting a show on NBC
““The show is in the works and it will focus on Adrienne and her brothers and the Maloof family businesses. The show is in the early planning stages but it will be a competition-style reality show based around family businesses,” the source says.”
Another Tidbit from Radar Online
Radar Online is reporting that Aviva and Reid Drescher attended the 13th annual US Open BNP Paribas Taste of Tennis party at the W New York Hotel last night in NYC. According to the report, Sonja Morgan was also expected to attend, but was a no-show. Aviva wisecracked to Fox News Correspondent, Tom Murro, that Sonja is afraid to be in the same room with her.
Sounds like fighting words, eh? What’s up w/Ms. Aviva, anyway? Why is she itching for a fight all of a sudden with these ladies? Is she showing her true colors or dishing it out to ensure her spot on the show for next season?

Alexis says she’ll come back if they let her have a friend on the show
A little bit of the article: “If I do the show again, I would have to have a friend on the show with me,” Real Housewives of Orange County Alexis Bellino tells Celebuzz. “Who wants to go into a pack of wolves and not have anyone with her? I would definitely want to have a friend.”
The producers have been searching for another wife and while there were rumors that Real Housewives of Orange County Alexis Bellino wouldn’t be brought back, she insists that they have called her and requested she return.
“I think we have a really good season and it was a really good cast,” she says. “But, I feel like it doesn’t have to be so hateful and mean all the time. We could still have a really good season, just not being so mean.”

(Note – this is last week’s recap – this week coming soon)
Head-nanny Kristin and Cindy Margolis
Cindy Margolis is getting her hair and make-up done and we’re supposed to believe that she has that done every day just to stay home. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that she’s on a reality-TV show! Cindy gives Kristin a turn in the make-up chair and decides to set Kristin up on a date.
The date is with a model/wrestler named Marcus. Kristin says the minute he opened his mouth, she knew it wasn’t going to happen. He tells her he’s ten years older but she thinks he’s lying – he seems much older. Kristin then finds out Marcus did photo shoots with Cindy Margolis and Kristin wonders if there’s more history there. It’s definitely not a love match and now Kristin feels funny about talking to Cindy about the situation.
Nannies Justin and Amanda
The two meet at a dessert shop and Amanda brings him the present from Marika – Justin thinks it might be ice cream and is mortified to find her breast milk – he says “was it a peace offering or was she trying to poison me”?! Amanda says Marika thinks it’s the “gift of life” and will help him grow taller and find a boyfriend.
These nanny friends have a lot of fun together!
On their “chocolate high” the two decide to invite Marika and baby over for a swim date – that should be interesting!
At the playdate, Justin’s swim instructor shows up and immediately hits it off with Amanda. Marika eggs it on and Justin jokes that he could have been drowning and no one would know! Poor Justin was a bit worried how things would be with Marika, but they all have a blast together, it was nice to see.
Amanda and the swim instructor, Marcus exchange numbers, they were cute together. Later they go on a date starting with ballroom dance lessons. They have a good time and Amanda seems smitten with Marcus!
Later, Justin talks to Lindsay in her bedroom about her love life. She feels a bit uncomfortable – that he’s crossing a line with her, but Justin seems to be totally in his element and there’s lots of laughter.
They go out to a bar and Justin brings over some men to meet Lindsay. The whole thing was very awkward.
Marika is out shopping for baby clothes with nanny Amanda, who can’t get over the prices of baby clothes (and neither could I!) – she’s looking at baby “slacks” for $300 and a Christian Dior baby romper for $838!
Nanny-wanna-be Maggie and a possible job with Cynthia Wyse
Cynthia was the mom that didn’t hire nanny Lucy and somehow we’re to believe that she’d trust Maggie, whose never nannied before. When Cynthia tells Maggie that her girls are 2 and 3 years old, and still in diapers, Maggie’s face turns white as a sheet!
Maggie tells us she wants to be a nanny after seeing all the “perks” Kristin gets, but I don’t think she has any idea about the work it involves. She tells us she hates children, and doesn’t want any of her own. It was funny when she told us that if toddlers are spoken to as “adults” then they’ll act like adults – yeah, good luck with that one!!
So, after this terrible interview, even a non-English speaker would know that Maggie is not right for the job, but Cynthia tells Maggie to come in for work in the morning. Yeah, we all know where this is headed – off a cliff!
The next day, Maggie is dreading being alone with the toddlers. The two sweet girls are acting like toddlers and Maggie says they are spoiled and bratty. She seems to just sit while the kids play around her. Mommy Cynthia comes home, asks Maggie to make the kids dinner and goes to the backyard to finish her errands. Maggie doesn’t make dinner and lets the kids go see Mommy in the backyard. The understatement of the episode is made by both ladies as they say Maggie was “overwhelmed”. Big surprise this didn’t work out….
Cynthia calls Kristin and lets her know, and big news, Kristin is not surprised.
Nanny Lucy and mommy Tricia
Tricia is letting Lucy borrow expensive shoes for an event. Lucy tells her that she’s on a “break” with her boyfriend and Tricia tells us it’s probably partially Lucy’s fault – I was thinking the same thing!!!
Curtis comes over to Lucy’s place after they have a one week break. The last time they were together, she tells us that he yelled at her for falling asleep during a movie. They seem to kiss and make up.
Tricia and her husband go out to dinner with Lucy and Curtis. Tricia was surprised at the laid back and quiet Curtis. Tricia notes how Lucy interrupts and finishes his thoughts. Curtis gets very uncomfortable when Tricia asks about the long-term prospects of their relationship.
Nanny Amber and Mommy Ari
We start with a clip from last week where Ari told Amber that she needs to get her act together. Amber is mortified – but when I think about it, Amber had just told Ari that her car was repossessed because she hadn’t made payments, AND, Ari was giving her the keys to her Escalade ($50K as Ari told us) so perhaps Amber needs to be a little less freaked out? Because it does seem like the girl needs to get her act together!!!
Amber tells us that since she needs the job, she’ll put up with Ari putting her down. In Ari’s bedroom, dresses are on display and Ari is asking for Amber’s help in picking one for a party she’s having for her new hubby, Barry. Amber likes the dresses and suggests the sexiest one.
Ari has asked Amber to bring a cocktail dress and with one look, Ari decides it’s too short and too sexy for her party. It seems that just as Ari’s honeymoon has ended, so has the honeymoon with her nanny – the two can’t seem to agree on anything. Ari hates Amber’s dress and shoes and takes her into her own closet, but nothing fits, and Ari tells us that she “has more assets while Amber has more conversation”. Seems like Ari’s getting tired of Amber’s outgoing personality – Amber is a bit LOUD!
They go to the party and Amber decides to “make a toast” – Ari interrupts her and says “Amber, you talk a lot – can I please make a toast?” Amber feels insulted but I have to agree with Ari – seems like Amber should be in the background, she’s Ari’s employee, not the guest of honor.
Seems like these two are in some rocky territory.
After the party Amber decides she can’t put up with Ari and our cliffhanger is Amber returning the keys to the car and getting ready to tell Ari that she’s quitting. I wonder how Amber will make car payments without a job??
It seems like the mommy’s and nannies on this show are struggling to figure out who is the “star” of the show. Many of the nannies – like Lucy and Amber seem to always want to be the center of attention, and this seems to be creating more conflict.
