Let’s Chat – Does Bravo really think viewers are stupid?
Bravo and NJ Producers are testing our patience. The timeline for the show is seriously messed up. The main issue is that they filmed two seasons of NJ back to back because they wanted Season 4 filmed during the summer. I hope they don’t do that again, because it makes the shifting alliances really hard to follow. Below is a reconstructed brief timeline.
May 3rd, 2011 – Teresa’s cookbook released.
May 16, 2011 – Premier Parties for Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 3. Brownstone Party has Caroline, Jacqueline, Melissa and Kathy and families. Teresa hosts a party at the Pizzeria. Dina Manzo drops by Teresa’s party but is a miss at the Brownstone.
July 11, 2011 – Melissa takes the girls out for a mani/pedi.
July 23, 2011 – Jaimie Laurita’s wedding date – first on-air mention of Dina Manzo. Caroline is officially “done” with Teresa.
Late August/Early Sept 2011 – Napa trip. http://www.woodallscm.com/2011/09/real-housewives-visit-california-rv-park/
September 27, 2011. Posche fashion show – big blowout fight.
September 28, 2011 Reunion for S3 taped – Teresa mentions that Dina is no longer talking to Caroline. “No wonder Dina is no longer talking to you”
October 7, 2011 – Fabellini launch party – Dina films with Teresa (but scenes airs before the fashion show) Bravo makes it seem like Teresa should have invited Jacqueline and Melissa – but viewers know better.
Late October, 2011 – Dina blogs about feud with Caroline and says Teresa isn’t responsible http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/24/real-housewives-of-new-je_n_1028351.html
A year later nothing has changed. Dina is still supporting Teresa.

What does Caroline think about Teresa?
Like many RHONJ viewers, I found the leaks about last week’s reunion taping pretty disturbing. We’ve all been watching this show for four seasons now. Teresa went from the cute, ditzy friend to the all powerful, grand master of all things that could possibly go wrong within the Gorga, Wakile, Laurita, and Manzo families. She is truly omnipotent if you watch how she has been portrayed on the show starting last season and building (or should I say boiling) up from there.
Just for giggles, I’ve gone back and grabbed some of the “best of” quotes about Teresa from Caroline’s blog:
Season 1 Blogs
“Teresa, oh Teresa, what can I say? Love, Love, Love…Mwah, Mwah, Mwah! The one thing you can always count on when Theresa is around is laughter. She is absolutely hilarious! Her girls are absolutely adorable and as girly girl as you can possibly get. Theresa is crazy in love with her husband and is very dedicated to her girls. I am so happy to see Teresa and Joe finally move into their dream home.”
“Teresa is the modern day Lucille Ball. She is an absolute riot! I always laugh when Teresa is around. Did you see all of that luggage for Gia? Hysterical! Only Teresa. She is a good mommy that wants to make her daughter happy.”
“Teresa – Hooray! Teresa finally got her boobies! They look fantastic and she is very happy! I just need to know one thing – did Joe wear a thong while caring for her? If so, I think the nation needs to see pics of that, don’t you? LOL!”
Season 2 Blogs
“As always, Teresa and her family are my biggest source of entertainment…those kids kill me! Now we have all the grandparents! This is priceless!”
“Dinner at Teresa’s was great! I could not believe all of the energy she had! It was like watching the Energizer Bunny, she just kept going, and going, and going! Joe was late getting home and the kids were exhausted, but it didn’t stop them from putting on multiple “shows” throughout the night. The food was great, and the company even better. Watching those kids is like looking at a real life cartoon. Their huge eyes and over the top outfits along with their larger than life personalities is never dull, trust me! As Teresa says, “Love, love, love them!”
The shopping scene with the girls was a little intense; thank God I only had one! It was like a feeding frenzy, snakeskin and zebra leggings everywhere!!! I don’t think Teresa allowed Gia to get all of those clothes. Good for her for putting the kibosh on it, the last thing you want is to start a pattern of overindulging, especially with a house full of girls!
Gia rocked the runway, as expected! I was so happy for Teresa; she was a very proud mommy. I still can’t get over how she looked, nine months pregnant, wearing a mini dress and five inch heals! Only Teresa… “
“First, let’s talk about Teresa and her delivery. How hilarious is she?! I remember going to the hospital to deliver all three of my kids, nowhere in sight was there makeup, jewelry, and heels! Only Teresa!!! I have to say, she was fabulous! Watching the labor was intense, ughhh, there’s got to be a better way! How many women out there were brought right back to the day you gave birth? I know I was, I was watching with a friend of mine and we were both feeling every contraction along with Teresa! Joe was cute; I think it’s amazing how most men don’t have any idea how to deal with their wives in the delivery room. … So, when I was watching Juicy Joe, I have to say, I get it. Audrianna is a little beautiful nugget, and just like her sisters she is larger than life already! The scene with Jac and Nicholas visiting was priceless, could there be a match in the future? We’ll have to wait and see I guess! I thought it was really cute the way Teresa asked Dina to be the Godmother, can you imagine the way that child will be dressed? Between Dina and Teresa she should be quite the fashionista!”
“I have to give Teresa credit, those girls are involved in everything from dance, to gymnastics, to guitar lessons, etc., etc., etc. Teresa carts them around, baby in tow, looking fabulous! Not me, I’d be a hot mess. Good for her. As I watched Teresa in the waiting room talking with the other parents, an old saying came to mind. “There’s only one beautiful child in the world, and every mother has it.” Now, tell the truth … don’t we all think our kids are the best things since sliced bread? Whether or not we believe that Teresa is a stage mom, or Gia has the talent to make it, there’s one undeniable fact: Teresa is a mother who loves her children, and gives them her unconditional support. At the end of the day, when those girls are grown with families of their own, whether it be in Hollywood or New Jersey, I would be willing to bet that each of them will remember those moments with love and gratitude. “
“How cute were Teresa and Joe at the housewarming party? It was a happy night for them and I was glad to be a part of it. I could not believe how rude that party planner was! For once I agree with The Countess: “Money can’t buy you class.” “
“I thought Joe was adorable as he showed Teresa the pizzeria. I got a kick out of it when he told her to put the apron on. Trust me, I’ve been there. When you’re in the restaurant business there will be days where you’ll be working in the kitchen wearing an apron. GUARANTEED. It’s the nature of the beast, and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I’m willing to bet that if Joe really needed Teresa to work, she’d be right there beside him helping out. Granted, her apron would probably be a sequined leopard print, but she’d be there.
Joe commented to Teresa about moving into one of the apartments above the pizzeria in the event of an issue with their house. I’m not 100% privy to the reality of their financial situation, so I don’t feel comfortable talking about it. I do know that there were investment properties that were impacted by the economy that may have issues, and I’m hoping that things get turned around for them. In any event, I think Joe did a nice job on the apartments, “sun roofs” and all. “
“I think I’ll begin with Teresa and Joe playing Monopoly with the “ripped” board. How cute are those kids? I loved it when Gabriella told Joe that he should buy Teresa flowers and chocolates for their anniversary. Joe is constantly hugging and kissing those girls, they have him completely wrapped around their little fingers. They are Daddy’s girls for sure. My favorite line of the whole anniversary scene was Joe’s, “The Hamptons are closed.”
FANTASTIC. Wait a minute, I just remembered the poem that was great too. Teresa wanted to be “wowed” and I think Joe went above and beyond. As Teresa says, “Love is, everyone has eyes, F it, Joe is hot.” Happy Anniversary guys, many, many more. Xoxo.”
“Teresa and Joe crack me up. The dynamic between the two of them is hysterical. Joe is worried about the bill and Teresa wants it to be FABULOUS. I think Teresa won that battle, but I’m sure Christopher took it easy on Joe too. The church was beautiful, the party was spectacular, and Audriana looked like a porcelain doll, absolutely precious. I completely sympathized with Joe while the photos were being taken. I’ve been in his position many times. Teresa LOVES THE CAMERA! I will say this; the Giudice girls will have thousands of beautiful pictures to reminisce over in years to come. That’s when they’ll be precious and I’m sure Joe will be grateful for every single one of them.”
Season 3 Blogs
“As I watched myself having the conversation with Teresa as she explained the events of the christening, I saw myself being very abrupt in my delivery. I don’t really have an excuse for it, it was what it was. Maybe I was PMS-ing, who knows. The bottom line is I didn’t like what I saw, however good my intentions were.
I do have to admit that hearing Teresa say she didn’t need my advice was a little hurtful. If nothing else I’ve always tried to have her back and have a very real understanding of the burden she’s been carrying over the past couple of years. I’ve tried to be as supportive as I could. I was only trying to help, if Teresa felt I was overstepping my boundaries, I apologize.”
“At one point Kathy wanted to explain her behavior at The Brownstone. In doing so she began to tell me all the issues she had with Teresa and how she felt betrayed, etc. That’s where I had a problem. Whether or not Teresa is right or wrong in this whole mess isn’t the issue. As I said, it’s none of my business. However, here is someone that I literally just met coming into my home and bashing someone that I’ve known for over fifteen years. That didn’t sit well with me at all. I didn’t understand why Kathy felt the need to come over my house and apologize and explain herself, when in fact she didn’t call her aunt or Teresa to do the same. I’m a complete stranger, so that bothered me.”
“I’m going to start with the meeting between Joe and Teresa. After watching the two of them together and listening to what they had to say, I came to the conclusion that Joe’s scars go very deep. He spoke about his children and how the feud has trickled all the way down to their level. I don’t care if you love the guy or hate him, that hurts him, and you can see it from a mile away. His facial expressions and his body language actually said more than what he verbalized. I didn’t feel like there was any true resolution. It seemed to me that they both were done with the conversation and just wanted to get out of each other’s way. Sad.
The talk between Teresa and Melissa didn’t go much better. On the surface it seems like they both were going to try and move forward, but I didn’t feel it. Something was off, and I think they both knew it. It’s sad, and I hope I’m wrong, but that’s what I got out of it.”
“I’m not going to get into the little tit for tat Teresa had with Melissa, because to me it was nothing more than a ridiculous exchange of remarks that had no content at all. Hey, it could have been worse, so if we had to deal with anything that night, I’m glad it was only that. Remember, before you send a lynch mob out for me, look at the big picture. Reconciliation is the goal and that’s what Teresa wants, right? So in that spirit I’m asking all of you to do what we’ve decided to do – have an open mind, don’t take any sides, and give peace a chance. See you next week.”
“I felt the need to invite Kathy and Rich to New Year’s Eve for a few reasons. Albert asked me to; the Giudices and Gorgas were asked, and Al didn’t think it was right to leave the Wakiles out. They’ve been clients of The Brownstone for over twenty years and now there was a social connection made through Teresa and Joe. I didn’t know Kathy that well at this point, but it made sense, so I invited them. Whether or not Teresa wanted them there had no relevance; I have two eyes and two ears, I can make a rationale decision based on what I see. I’m not going to dislike someone because I was told to. Some may perceive my decision as being disloyal to Teresa. Loyalty to a friend doesn’t mean do what I say, it means doing the right thing, and sometimes the right thing is telling your friend when they are wrong.”
“OK, as for my friendship with Teresa. I have said time and time again that Teresa was Dina’s friend first, and had a different relationship with Jacqueline than with me. I knew Teresa casually over the years, but when we started doing the show together, we spent more time with each other. Those times were always in a group setting, never one-on-one. Did I consider Teresa family? Yes, I did, we all were involved in each other’s lives, and friendships and relationships were had on many different levels. Having said that, I still stand by what I said. We weren’t buddies, but we were still part of a family dynamic.”
Season 4 Blogs
“I’m going to be address Teresa, but it’s going to be quick. I don’t buy her apology, and quite frankly it doesn’t matter if she’s sorry or not. I made a decision to eliminate her from my life, and I’m standing by it. Once again, many of you may not understand, and that’s OK. Hopefully by the end of the season you will. Having said that, I’m keeping my comments to a minimum.”
” OK, here we go — the cookbook comment and the apology that followed. I want you all to think; do I strike you as the type of person that would end a relationship over a shallow comment in a cookbook? The answer is no, I’m not. The cookbook was the tangible piece of evidence I needed to state my case regarding all the rumors I had been hearing for months. A rumor is a rumor, nothing more, but when you see something written in black and white, there’s no denying the truth. The worst part is when the opportunity arose to discuss the comment, I was looked right in the face and lied to. No accountability, no remorse. That was my ah-hah moment — the truth was revealed and I made a decision, end of story. Again watch and read between the lines. I’m aware that some of you won’t agree with my decision, and quite frankly that’s fine. This is how I feel, and I’m standing by it. Let me know in September if you agree with me. By then you will have had a pretty good idea of where I’m coming from.”
“Let’s talk about Joe Giudice and the remark he made to Greg on the bus. I’m probably going to get crucified for this, but I don’t think he meant it with malice. Now understand that I think the remark was awful and in the poorest of taste, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, he’s like a kid, he just blurts things out regardless of how it hurts. Yes, he is a 40-year-old man, and yes he should know better, but when he said that he immediately took it back and apologized. Over the past few seasons he has made numerous gay slurs, and there’s no denying that there’s an issue there, but in this instance I think he was making a poor attempt to be funny. Call me crazy, but that’s the way I feel. On the other hand, I also meant what I said about him being a shell of the man I met a few years ago. The Joe I remember was fun, carefree. I truly believe that back then he didn’t need more than a good cigar, a bottle of homemade wine, and his family and friends around him to be happy. The guy could live in a cardboard box and be happy. Something changed along the way, and he’s become bitter, guarded. Sad, we all miss the old Joe. I’m not saying this for brownie points, or to be politically correct. I mean this sincerely.”
“The scene with Teresa and Gia bra shopping was cute. I remember those days well, when our kids want to be “grown ups” and we can’t keep the smile off our faces as we watch them navigate their way through life. Treasure those moments, you blink your eyes and they’re adults and you scratch your head and wonder where the time went.
Gia was unhappy that her team lost the tug of war. She thought her Uncle Joe was cheating and she voiced her opinion to everyone. I was upstairs in the kitchen cooking when I heard voices from the basement and it sounded like someone was crying. I went downstairs to find Gia and our little friend Frankie (who is Gia’s age) talking about the cheating issue. Frank was trying to explain to her that no one was cheating and everyone was just having fun. I walked into the room and tried to explain to Gia that her mom and uncle were having a great time. I never once reprimanded her for her behavior until she became disrespectful towards me directly. I don’t care whose child you are or how upset you are; you do not look an adult in the face and tell them to be quiet, mind their business, and get out of the room. Especially when they are not antagonizing you. It was then when I told Gia to look at me and show some respect. I would expect nothing less from any other adult if it were my child back in the day — respect is paramount in my book. Children should know their boundaries. Teresa challenging Jacqueline and myself in front of Gia was wrong. First of all, she wasn’t in the room, she didn’t know what happened. If she had a problem with either of us, she should have pulled us aside and spoke to us in private and discussed the situation before berating us in front of Gia. That’s just my thought on it, we all parent differently, and that’s what makes the world go round.”
“I felt bad for Jacqueline, but at the same time I was happy for the Gorgas and Wakiles. I meant what I said when I told Kathy and Joe that removing myself from the situation could only help in their healing process with the Giudices. There’s no denying that now as I watch from week to week that my instinct was correct. We’ll see where it goes from here.
I’ve said it a million times, we fight big and we love big, but in the end there’s always forgiveness. I’m happy to see that Joe and Teresa are going to therapy. I don’t know what the outcome was, so I guess I’ll find out when you guys do. I was also happy to see Kathy and Melissa respond in a positive way to T’s request; all you can do is try, right? Baby steps.”
“I’m going say this for the last time — an apology is only an apology when it’s sincere. Issues go way beyond the cookbook. The cookbook is trivial nonsense. I don’t attack anyone, I respond to comments made about me. I don’t back down, and I won’t play the game. I say it as I see it and will never hide behind an insincere apology or a fake friendship. If that’s being a bully, then so be it. I’m a bully.”
“Clearly my attitude towards Teresa has changed and with good reason. I won’t be a soldier in her army. Again, Jacqueline and I were brought into a situation to “fix” things. I found out very early on this was nothing more than a war tactic on Teresa’s part. Remember, there were never supposed to be sides — Teresa clearly states in this episode that Jacqueline needs to “pick a side.” I ask you this — Why? Why do we have to pick a side? I assessed and made a decision not to enlist. I don’t like war, and if my approach seems less than loyal to some viewers, all I can say is I am what I am and it is what it is. I stand by my decision. We are all entitled to our own opinion, that’s what makes the world go round, right? Having said that, I can fully respect and understand anyone’s view; whether you love me or hate me, it’s yours to do and think what you wish. For those that understand, thank you, for those who don’t, no hard feelings.”
So there you have it. She wanted us to know she was fighting with Teresa all season. She claims the cookbook remarks weren’t the reason, and they were trivial, but she keeps bringing up that Teresa’s apology wasn’t sincere enough for her. Well, if it wasn’t a big deal, why not brush it right out the door and get over it?
So that gets me thinking, I can’t for the life of me think that what we’ve heard about Teresa has been so damning that random venom gets thrown at her from all sides? Truly. In all this time, not a single reasonable incident has come out to make Teresa the villain in everyone’s eyes. It’s simply a gang up to take down the popular girl right?
The Manzo children and their lapdog Greg have taken to twitter to take mean swipes at Teresa for about a year now. On the show, they made fun of her every chance they got when she was not close enough to hear her. Lauren, who in season one when she couldn’t name the continents, was called a “ditz” by her brother, called “not so smart” by her father and “so stupid” by her mother. She claimed not to know what “dictatorship” or “democracy” means in this same clip. Season three, she’s calling Teresa stupid. This past week, we hear she looked up some fancy words and tried stumping Teresa on the reunion show.

If you would scroll up to the quote from Caroline about Gia, the ten year old, and how she felt disrespected by her when she decided to discipline someone else’s child, you’ll see one of the many reasons viewers have lost respect for her.
So as I was searching for this exact video on youtube, I came across the Chicago newscast about the Punta Cana lawsuit. In case you forgot, on the last day of the Season 3 Punta Cana trip, attended by all the cast members, the Manzo kids, and even Greg, a brawl broke out in the hotel bar. According to one of the victims, Teresa was spraying champagne. The victim, Adolfo Arreola, went over to stop it as it was spraying his family. He was then knocked down and his wrist was broken. His cousin, Jason Gomez, suffered a broken leg and torn ligaments in his knee. The cast was detained while Bravo tried sweeping it under the rug with the local police. The victims claim they were taping at the time and that they will bring the video to light. Now, as the story came to light, we all heard Joe Guidice, Albie Manzo, Chris Manzo and Greg Bennett were arrested. This was later proved untrue. Their passports were surrendered to give the police time to sort things out. Lawyers flew down from New York and Arreola and Gomez were each forced to sign a release of claim in order to have their passports returned so they could come back to the US.
Finding no other resolution, the victims proceeded to file a lawsuit against the resort in a Miami court and the cast members and Bravo in the New York Supreme Court. While the summons is available online here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/57850357/Housewives, little if nothing was made about ALL the names of the defendants. Not only are Teresa, Joe, Albie, Chris, and Greg named in the suit, but also Caroline, Albert and Lauren. Could this be the real source of anger from Caroline and Albert toward Teresa and Joe? The lawsuit was filed in June 2011. Season 4 was just about to begin filming. Yes Caroline was annoyed with Teresa in season three because she had a storyline of her own and it wasn’t all about her financial problems. She had two best-selling books by this time. That meant the show would not be revolving around Caroline’s family anymore.
Now, during a recession, where people are cutting back on their lavish parties and weddings at the Brownstone, Caroline needs to shell out cash to defend her sons, her daughter, her husband, and herself for a fight that in her eyes was started by Teresa, who never threw a punch. This is all very public information; however none of the cast members are allowed to say a word. On top of this, the beloved Manzos were probably given a proper ass-chewing by the Bravo producers. They are losing their luster. The webisodes with the boys are done. The radio show is done.
Did Teresa force the Manzos to take part in this fight? She is omnipotent if you listen to Jacqueline, Caroline, Melissa, etc. Since she is, she should have taken the fall for the brawl, right? She should have exonerated the poor Manzo boys. Being proper stereotypical thuggy behavior, you can see where in this case Dina would take the other side and not support Caroline’s family. Is this the “Teresa lights the fire on my family’s problems” hidden message? You know, read between the lines? This is exhausting!
So once again, Teresa makes an appearance on WWHL. She has never said a negative thing toward Lauren, even though by now she has seen Lauren’s nasty tweets about her and listened to her nasty insults on the show. She makes one remark about how important it is to lose weight naturally – and let’s tell the truth here – there’s a very big chance she could have been talking about not losing weight with diet pills, liposuction, etc. Lauren has a conniption and takes to twitter to continue the Teresa bashing. Which we’re all over. So I will leave you with more words of wisdom from Caroline. I wonder if Jacqueline will read it to Lauren:
“The show is meant to entertain, not cause World War III. A healthy debate is fine, hate is not acceptable; not towards me, Teresa, or any of the other ladies and especially amongst the viewers! Play nice with the other children!”
Thank you Rebecca for your recap of the last 4 years of this complex relationship between Caroline and Teresa – NMD.

Teresa speaks out about the reunion in her blog: Good Friends Mean Everything
“I should have posted this already, but as they say “better late than never” right! As you all know, last week was the filming of the RHONJ reunion show and it was a very long and emotional day. I won’t go into the details because you’re going to see it all for yourself in a few weeks on Bravo, but I think it was the longest filming ever in all the seasons I have been doing the show. As you can imagine I was exhausted and emotionally drained afterwards and one thing I was thankful for was the support I had. Of course my wonderful hubby Joe was there, but I was also so grateful for the support of my friends, especially my friend Jerry who you all know as Jerel James Sabella, the person who created the Milania Hair Care line. It meant so much that he took time out of his busy schedule to be there for me. Thank you Jer! Good friends mean everything! xx
P.S. I was also so touched by the tweets of concern from all my friends on Twitter”
(Oh – she has a hair care line out now too).
