Exclusive Interview with Heather Thomson of the Real Housewives of New York by NoMoreDrama
Heather Thomson joined the Real Housewives of New York in Season Five of the show.
I really enjoyed interacting with Heather on twitter throughout the latter half of the season (when I finally got on twitter). She seems like a down to earth, fun person both on-screen and off-screen, and quickly became one of my favorite housewives.
I was delighted when she agreed to the interview for Lynn’s Place since I know we’re all such avid viewers and fans of the Real Housewives of New York.
BB (our Real Housewives of New York blogger) and I came up with some questions for Heather. Our interview with Heather is below:
NMD: You’re a successful businesswoman in New York. I’m sure you did your research before agreeing to be on the show. I’m curious about why you agreed to be on the show and what you hoped to get out of the experience.
Heather: Well at first I was somewhat hesitant about joining the cast, and my first reaction was that it was likely not a good fit for me. I spoke with the casting director about my concerns, but after talking thru the “why not’s”, he explained that I was part of a shift the show was interested in making and I was in fact the woman they were looking for to help achieve it. I soon realized this was an exceptional opportunity before me, and that I was being presented with a rare and one off chance to speak about my business, Yummie by Heather Thomson and my brand message of uplifting women, and to bring awareness to the charity causes (pediatric liver disease and most pointedly organ donation) that are dear to me. Furthermore, it was a very unique opportunity to shed light on and to represent a very different type of female New Yorker. Talking with the casting director gave me confidence that I could potentially achieve these goals and convinced me to throw my hat in the ring.
NMD. You came in after four cast New York cast members were fired in a very public manner, and after the Russell Armstrong suicide in Beverly Hills. Did any of that give you second thoughts?
Heather: I really thought about every aspect of the show while making my decision, but in the end, the positives outweighed the negatives.
BB. Do you get much grief from the public for saying your tagline “Holla?”
Heather: At first people either loved it or hated it. Some people didn’t know what it meant. So as the weeks starting rolling, and they learned more about me and my personality I think a large percentage started to really have fun with it. I wrote a blog post and gave a breakdown of what it meant and how you would use it. I received lots of fan appreciation and paraphernalia mailed to my office with “Holla” on it that will always remind me of my first season on the show.
NMD: At the beginning of the season you hosted an “away” trip to London where you invited everyone but Ramona Singer. Under normal situations that would be understandable as you and Ramona were not getting along. But this is Housewives and you’re all filming a show together, so you received a lot of negative feedback. In hindsight, do you wish you had invited her but just kept business and fun separate?
Heather: Ramona and I had a rocky start, and I decided that I didn’t want to carry our baggage on my trip. The trip was primarily about business so I couldn’t risk something happening with Ramona while I was there; I needed to keep a clear head because I was in and out of meetings the whole time. I had a great time with the girls during my free time, and I truly didn’t mean to make Ramona feel bad about it, I just needed to be focused.
NMD: You helped Sonja Morgan with her toaster oven box branding. I really thought you got the short end of the stick on that one. She seemed to expect you to read her mind, and instead of being pleased about all the free advertising she got for that darned toaster oven, continued to slam you – even through the reunion. How is your relationship with Sonja now? What did you learn from that experience?
Heather: That was definitely a frustrating experience because I didn’t feel that I was getting the credit the team and I deserved. I signed on to the project with the mindset that I was a friend helping out another friend and offering my own professional advice. But Sonja wasn’t on the same page. I get it, this project was her baby, and I’ve been there having started my own business as well. But I think there was a bit of entitlement, miscommunication and misunderstanding on her part.
NMD: St. Barths. Where to start? How satisfying was it to push Ramona in the pool? How is your relationship with her now?
Heather: Ramona and I were in a great place on the trip (finally!), so pushing her in the pool was all in good fun! And we’re still in a good place.
NMD: You seemed to be the witness to some of the main Pirate Action with both LuAnn de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan. What is your opinion of the Pirate? Hot? or Greasy? Was he a prize or consolation prize?
Heather: Well he isn’t exactly my type, but I get what the girls saw in him. They were on vacation and wanted to escape and have a little fun.
BB: Other than Carole, do you keep in touch with any of the New York housewives outside of filming?
Heather: Yes, I keep in touch with the ladies. We all chat and see each other occasionally. I do see Carole the most, as we have similar personalities and it’s just so easy to be around her.
BB: Hindsight being 20/20, would you change anything you said or did last season?
Heather: No, I don’t waste time with regrets. I feel that I left the season on a good note with all the girls. I always say, “It’s only a mistake if you make it twice.”
BB: What are you looking forward to most if you return next season?
Heather: Seeing everything that unfolds! It’s all so unpredictable.
NMD & BB: Are you working on any business endeavors other than Yummie Tummie? What’s next for Heather Thomson?
Heather: Right now I’m putting my focus on Yummie Tummie, as we’re constantly evolving the collection and developing new and innovative classifications. I’m also putting a lot of energy into my charitable causes, specifically pediatric liver disease and organ donation. Having personally experienced the effects of these organizations, it’s something that I’m very passionate about.
Thank you Heather! – NMD
(PS – I did ask Heather some questions about how she felt about what JZ said about her on WWHL – and she chose not to answer them. I thought I’d give it a shot 🙂 NMD )
Exclusive Interview with Lauren Foster
Yesterday we published an Exclusive Interview with Lauren Foster – The First Transgender Woman on the Real Housewives Franchise. Lauren gave two interviews to bloggers – Lynn’s Place and The Bravo Bitch (in our blog roll – great site!). These interviews not only gave us a little inside information on Real Housewives of Miami, but also raised awareness of LGBT issues – and were supported by GLADD. If you didn’t get a chance to read the Lynn’s Place interview, you can find it here.
I was asked to publish the piece right after the show aired at the specific request of GLADD President Herndon Graddick, who gave this quote for the piece:
“Lauren is a beautiful, passionate and smart woman who has not only helped our organization, but our entire community,” said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick. “Bravo has long had its pulse on pop culture and we hope to see more of Lauren on their Real Housewives franchise. We think it would be a powerful decision for them to include her and represent all women, including those who are transgender.”
Gossip and Other News by NoMoreDrama
Things must be tough at Bravo, because they’re putting Patti Stranger back on the network. I had pretty much forgotten about her, but she’s baaaack in January with Millionaire Matchmaker. Let’s see if she can raise her percentage of matches up from 0 percent this season.
Here’s some news. Joanna Krupa and Romain Zago are back together. I suppose they’ll break up again next week to get in the news again.
Alexis Bellino didn’t go to Tamra Barney‘s bachelorette party, but at least Vicki Gunvalson seems to be on-camera friends with her. Vicki tweeted this a few days ago:
The Real Housewives of Miami “Parents Fly South” Recap by Krissy S
RJ’s Star Island Birthday Party
“My Dad said this place is only for parties, so you can wreck it.” – RJ Black (Lea’s son)
Lisa arrives at Lea’s Star Island home to celebrate RJ’s 11th birthday and is rather underwhelmed by the house. Lea feels sorry for Lisa arriving to the party early because, according to Lea, everyone in Miami is late. Adriana, Alexia, James/Elaine, and Lisa Pliner are also invited to the birthday party. They discuss the drama that went down with James/Elaine and Marysol at Lisa Pliner’s shoe launch party. Lisa P. throws Marysol under the bus saying that Marysol was out to hurt her and James/Elaine. Lea is over it and tells them to leave it alone.
Ana Is Still Pissed About Thomas Kramer
“Better to forgive and forget.” – Kati Quincoces (Ana’s daughter)
Ana is sitting down with her daughters Beba and Kati to discuss the dinner party at Thomas Kramer’s home. She is still upset that Marysol did not defend her when Kramer was yelling at her. Although Marysol did come outside to comfort her, Ana believes that it wasn’t enough given how many times she has stepped in to fight for Marysol. She has decided that she will no longer defend Marysol and will leave her to fight her own battles.
Lisa Welcomes Lenny’s Parents
“We would love to see our grandchildren.” – Marina (Lenny’s mother)
“The sooner, the better” – Anatoly (Lenny’s father)
Lisa is freaking out because Lenny is still at work and his parents are about to arrive at their home. According to Lisa, Lenny’s mother Marina is over involved in their lives and even has a key to their house. She is controlling and demanding, pressuring Lisa to get pregnant. Knowing that Lisa has had three miscarriages, that has got to be terribly upsetting. Marina and Anatoly (Lenny’s father) let themselves in and Lisa and Daysy greet them in the foyer. Lisa is visibly irritated when Marina tells Daysy that she loves her, but doesn’t say the same to Lisa. Ouch. After inspecting the kitchen and refrigerator, Marina does not seem pleased when Lisa tells her that they will be going out for dinner instead of cooking it herself.
Marysol and James and the Sit-down
“I’m somewhere between Mother Theresa and Mother Pucker.” James/Elaine
Marysol informs her employee that James/Elaine will be coming to the office to finally discuss their issues with each other. Marysol reveals that she blames Lea 100% for the bad blood between herself and James/Elaine. Armed with his Gucci notepad and (rather impressive) décolletage, James/Elaine comes in dressed in full military inspired drag. Marysol tells him that she really likes James, but that when he transforms into Elaine, he is ‘bitchy.’ Marysol apologizes for all of their miscommunication and they agree that there needs to be more honesty going forward. James/Elaine then demands that Marysol confess to being ‘out to get him’ and Marysol does admit that she was trying to avoid him. She apologizes again and tells him that she wants to move forward. In the voiceover, Marysol says that she doesn’t know what she is apologizing for and that she is just doing it to smooth things over with James/Elaine. She still believes that Lea is the puppet master behind James/Elaine’s negativity towards her.
Lisa Gets Acupuncture for Fertility
“Not being able to start a family when you’re ready to is devastating.” – Lisa
Lisa is going to an acupuncturist with the hope that it will help her carry a baby to term. Her friend Carrie is there with her for moral support. Lisa says that part of the reason she and Lenny got married was to start a family and her inability to have a baby is causing problems and could ultimately lead to their marriage ending. The doctor comes in and Lisa is panicked about the needles. She is reassured by the doctor that, although she may be able to feel the needles, they will not hurt. Lisa relaxes into the treatment. She laments how devastating it has been not to be able to carry her three pregnancies to term and that she feels her life is on hold until she can have a child.
Karent and Rodolfo Have a Chat
“You can’t create a baby through the internet.” – Karent
Rodolfo is flirting with Karent’s secretary when Karent runs in, grabs him, and pulls him into the treatment room for a surprise dental cleaning. He is looking up at her with terror in his eyes as she tells him about Lisa’s fertility struggles and how she is thinking about having babies. His mouth full of power tools, Rodolfo listens to Karent tell how her gynecologist said that it is better to freeze an embryo than an egg. She starts to cry and Rodolfo pulls her in for a kiss. She wants to know how Rodolfo feels about having children with her. He says that he is not in the place to have kids right now because of his traveling for work. If Karent is really serious about wanting to get married and have children, I think that she is barking up the wrong tree.
Joanna Gives Rodolfo the Third Degree
“She is very jealous because of the whole business, because you always have girls around…the fun part.” – Rodolfo
Joanna has planned a triple date with Lisa and Lenny and Karent and Rodolfo to try to find out what Rodolfo’s true intentions are with Karent. Joanna and Lisa start in immediately, questioning Rodolfo on how he feels to be home with Karent, how long they have been together, if they are engaged. Joanna is worried that Rodolfo might just be in the relationship for a good time, while Karent want a serious commitment with marriage and children. The ladies get up to ‘powder their noses’ leaving Lenny and Romain to dig deeper with Rodolfo. They question him about his relationships with his female costars in the soap opera and if he brings work home with him. He says although it is not easy, he separates work and romance. They ask him why he would get married being able to have so many women with his job and he says that he believes in family. Apparently when he and Karent broke up for a while, he got engaged to another woman, but it didn’t work out. Romain tells him that it would make Karent feel more secure in the relationship if she and Rodolfo were married. They ladies return and they toast to having fun with the right group of people.
Adriana Celebrates Frederic’s Parents’ 50th Anniversary
“Seriously, how can people be together for fifty years?!” – Adriana
Adriana and her son Alex arrive home to Frederic and his parents, Suzanne and Jean Pierre, who are visiting from Paris to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Suzanne talks about her own parents’ 50th anniversary party in a castle in France. Adriana tells her that, although it will not be in a castle, she is planning to throw them a lovely party to celebrate their anniversary. Suzanne has the perfect dress from her friend Christian Dior to wear to the party. Adriana asks Jean Pierre how he knew Suzanne was ‘the one’ for him and he says that she had all of the qualities he was looking for in a woman. They met at a screening of a movie that Jean Pierre was making with Jacques Cousteau. In her talking head interview, Adriana says that she loves Frederic and that he is a great guy, but she still has trust issues and is always holding back in fear that her heart will get broken.
Joanna and Her Mom Discuss Romain
“Baby, you’re so lucky – three Krupas!” – Joanna
Joanna and Romain are cuddled up in bed together when they decide to bust in on Marta and her mom Jolanta who are still sleeping. Marta is irritated (shocking) but Jolanta seems amused by their playfulness. Jolanta is in town from Los Angeles to keep Marta company while Joanna goes to the Bahamas with the girls.
Marta and Romain go out for coffee while Joanna and Jolanta make breakfast and chat. Joanna tells her that she has been putting more effort into cooking and taking care of the home after her big talk with Romain. Once she realized that she could lose him, she wanted to do what she could to make sure that doesn’t happen. Jolanta tells Joanna that she needs to stop drinking too because she is evil when she drinks. Joanna agrees. She asks Jolanta what she thinks about her marrying Romain, especially since they fight a lot like her mother and father used to. When they moved to the United Statesfrom Poland, her father was mostly absent and she had to take on a lot of the responsibilities. In tears, Jolanta tells Joanna that Joanna should not have had to take care of her and Marta and that she should have been able to have a real childhood. Joanna is worried that Romain has not set a wedding date and questions if they are really right for each other.
Lisa Hosts a Passover Seder
“Everyone has the same problem, so that is why the world is falling apart.” – Mama Elsa
Lisa is hosting a Passover Seder in honor of Marina and Anatoly. The dinner guests include, Mama Elsa and Marysol, Joanna, Romain, Marta, and Jolanta, Karent and Lucero, and Lea. The mothers are left alone together and start talking politics…awkward. Everybody sits down to dinner and Lisa makes a toast to the United States of America and the opportunities they have all had as immigrants.
The Obligatory Mid-Commercial Fake Out
“If you follow all my advice, you’ll be perfect.” Marina to Lisa
Lisa and Marina are in the kitchen making matzo ball soup. Marina is critical of everything that Lisa is doing from making a mess in the kitchen to not having enough fresh flowers. Lisa says that Marina is not easy to please and that seems like the understatement of the century.
Ana and Robert Are At It Again
“You look like Rico Suave.” – Ana
“I feel like Rico Suave.” – Robert
Robert lets himself in to Ana’s house to drop off some checks and she seems shocked that he came in unannounced. She has his laundry ready for him and asks him when his ‘little girlfriend’ is going to start doing his laundry. Ana then makes fun of his hair calling him Rico Suave and telling him that his clients are not going to respect him. Robert tells her that she is just jealous. In the voiceover, Ana says that they do love each other, but that it is not the type of love that a married couple should have to stay in a relationship. Ana tells Robert that she wants to meet his girlfriend. He said that his girlfriend is open to the idea of meeting her, but that he doesn’t want her to. Ana tries to reassure him that she will be nice to his girlfriend. She asks him if he will get married again and he says yes and he then asks her why their divorce isn’t final yet.
Adriana Throws a 50th Anniversary Party
“Fifty years of marriage…if you’ve been married that long you deserve a medal.” – Adriana
Adriana is overseeing what has to be one of the most beautifully decorated dinner parties I have ever seen. The flower centerpieces…swoon! She is preparing for the celebration of Frederic’s parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. As Frederic is dressing for dinner, he tells Adriana that when they marry, he wants to celebrate fifty hours of marriage, fifty days of marriage, fifty months of marriage …swoon!
The guests begin arrive and among them is Thomas Kramer. He and Lea have a laugh over the disaster that was Karent’s dinner party. Adriana asks everyone to take their seats and she toasts to Suzanne and Jean Pierre and their 50th wedding anniversary. Lea and Alexia ask Adriana and Frederic when they plan on getting married. Alexia says that Frederic has had a great example set by his parents. It has passed into evening when three drummers come in followed by Adriana dancing in a gigantic feathered costume. She dances for the dinner guests in a sequined leotard and feathered headdress. Frederic gets up to join her followed by the rest of the guests who make a conga line. Adriana says that she knows Frederic will be a wonderful husband, but she needs to make peace with her own demons before she can completely open up to his love.
Project Runway All Stars “You’ve Got Male” by BB
Recap of Winners and Losers:
- Challenge 1 (Anthony Ryan wins, Peach goes home);
- Challenge 2 (Uli wins, Wendy goes home);
- Challenge 3 (Emilio wins, Suede goes home);
- Challenge 4 (Anthony Ryan wins, Andrae goes home).
Anthony Ryan is the only designer with two wins.
This challenge theme is a fashion-forward trend, androgyny, which means it can be worn by a male or female. Their design should include masculine and feminine characteristics. They also need for it to be avant garde. They have $150.00 to shop at Mood and one day to create their design.
Before they go to Mood, the designers are trying to figure out what would have masculine details but would look good on their female models. This challenge has thrown Uli for a loop because she usually designs very feminine pieces. Kane is going to try to make something very structured and he hopes he’s not trying to do too much.
Georgina pays a visit to the workroom. They aren’t used to seeing her there. She’s explains there is a bit of a twist to this challenge. She brings in male models. The designers are in a total panic and Emilio says he feels completely screwed. Georgina also tells them they will be creating two looks, one for a female and one for a male model. They get another day and another trip to Mood. The male and female models will be walking down the runway in pairs. I’m surprised some of the clothes fit the male models when they were originally designed for the female models. I guess male models are pretty thin also although I never noticed that before. Uli is the only designer who seems totally lost and panicked at this point.
Later the girls come for their fittings. Emilio doesn’t see much Androgyny going on when he looks around the room.
Day two starts out with the second trip to Mood. Emilio cannot find enough of the fabric he wants for his male look. After mood, they have 11 hours left. Uli has to change her female look because her male model will be wearing her female’s pants. Josh is also switching up his looks. What he has made for his female model will now be used for his male model. Casanova says his look is very ambitious because it’s All Stars. Laura Kathleen worries that her look may not be ambitious enough.
Joanna comes into the work room and tells them the judges were a little disappointed in the last challenge and they need to really step it up this week. She loves the detail of Uli’s design. Uli tells Joanna there’s not much ball room in her male’s pants. Joanna does a double take when she says it. She tells Anthony Ryan not to play it safe but to be careful with the black and yellow and make sure it doesn’t look like a wasp.
She tells Emilio she can’t tell if his look is for the man or woman. Emilio says that’s a good thing. She thinks it looks spectacularly put together. Anthony thinks you could put Casanova’s design and put it on a gladiator set and it would fit right in. Joanna tells Kane his will either be hideous or great. When Joanna leaves, she tells them just when they think they can’t go any further, go even further. The female models come in for their final fittings. Casanova hates the pants he had made and thinks they are hideous looking. He has no extra fabric to make more. Ivy goes over to help him out and tells him he can fix it. Next the guys come in for their fittings. Kane has his model try on heels, but I don’t think he will be using them for the runway show. Time is up for the second day.
On runway day, the designers have two hours to finish their two looks and get their models ready for the runway. Ivy and Casanova are working together which annoys Laura Kathleen. Anthony Ryan points out that at some point their being joined at the hip is not going to work because there can’t be two winners. Emilio thinks Casanova’s craftsmanship is amazing, but the androgyny is not there. Josh is seeing the other designers doing things they’ve done in previous Project Runway seasons, and he feels he’s evolved more than the others. Kayne feels safe after he looks at some of the other designers’ outlandish looks.
Joshua’s two models are wearing black and white looks, the girl wearing shorts and the guy wearing long pants. They look good together. Uli’s models are wearing mostly black. Her male model’s top is see-through. Laura Kathleen’s is also black and I’m not sure her I like her models together. I love Emilio’s designs. You almost cannot tell who the male and female models are. They are definitely androgynous. Kayne has a hounds tooth look. His female model is wearing a bright yellow top under a jacket with a ruffled collar. Casanova’s models are in gold and look great, but I’m not sure how androgynous they are. Anthony Ryan likes his male’s look but thinks the female could use a little more volume. I’m not crazy about Andrea’s heavy robe look on her models. Ivys, Joshua, and Andrea are called out and safe. Joshua goes off on Ivy because he’s frustrated about being safe and not in the top three and Ivy seems OK with it. He thinks Ivy should already be out of the competition.
Uli is up first. Isaac loves the safety pins on the front of the female’s shirt. The judges like her look, but Georgina doesn’t like the leggings on the female model. Laura Kathleen is next and Isaac thinks the textiles look inexpensive. The judges do not like it and think it needed to be edited. Georgina likes Emilio’s attention to detail. Jason Wu thinks it’s what androgyny looks like. Isaac wonders if he relied too heavily on the hats for the models. Isaac thinks Kayne’s use of the yellow shirt looks inexpensive and they also think Kayne needed to edit himself. Georgina likes Casanova’s but they don’t look very androgynous. Jason Wu agrees. Isaac tells Anthony Ryan he’s so good every week. Georgina is happy he didn’t do a dress. Jason Wu thinks it looks expensive. So Emilio, Uli and Anthony Ryan are in the top and Laura Kathleen, Kayne and Casanova are in the bottom three.
The judges loved that Uli really pushed it this week, think Emilio totally got the androgynous look, and loved Anthony Ryan’s expensive looking textures. They thought Laura Kathleen had good ideas, but she overdid it. Georgina thought everything she did was wrong. Isaac thought the color of Kayne’s female model’s top was atrocious. Georgina likes his male model but wonders if he knows how to design for a female. Robert’s least favorite was Casanova’s. Georgina thinks he misinterpreted the idea of avant garde. The decisions have been made.
Anthony Ryan is deemed safe and Emilio is declared the winner. He was definitely my choice. Uli is congratulated for her work and leaves the runway. Casanova is safe and gets to leave the runway. Carolyn tells Kayne he needs to edit, edit, edit and Laura Kathleen she needs to play to her strengths. Laura Kathleen is safe and Kayne is eliminated.
Couple’s Therapy – The pointless episode by Mr and Mrs Lulu
Opens to another meeting with Courtney and her f’d up mother. The saying the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree comes to mind. Dr Jen is still trying to determine why Courtney dresses like a whore and behaves like a 12 year old. Any answers to anything deep is lost between dumb and dumber. I can’t tell who is the mother and who is the teenager. From this meeting we learn two things A: Courtney has a promising career in the porn industry. B: looking at the mother explains why Courtney is the girl that she is.
Jojo and Tiny
Jojo attends his first AA meeting. We finally see some hope for this couple.
Doug was ostracized by his family for marrying Courtney. He reaches out to his mother. For once she is listening and is open to meeting Courtney. Big mistake! That is like trying to seal a wound with acid. Until Courtney grows up not a good idea.
Dr Jen opens with “this is the end speech.” Of which everyone validates Dr Jen as a therapist. Lots of “Oh thank you!” “you saved me!” I’m not buying it at all. I have zero confidence in Dr Jen’s ability to counsel a human. Well maybe to a dog she would be great. The most laughable “I am cured” speech was from Courtney. Apparently she walked into the house as a girl and now is a woman?!?!?! Ummm yeah I’m not buying it I question her ability to understand what was being told to her.
Nik and Shayne’s fake wedding
I think the producers saw that Dorkey was ruining the show. So like most reality series let’s do a wedding! But everything from the “will you marry me” proposal to the reaffirmation was scripted. You can’t tell me that this couple all of a sudden forget they had real issues. Bad attempt at a ratings boost. Overall this episode was a pointless filler. Not sad to see the end!
Depending on who is on the next if there is one Mr Lulu and I will consider blogging it!
…. So this was it…?
I remember when I had a job working third shift overnight, and how I’d be up early afternoon. And I fell into this weird need to watch ‘Days of Our Lives.’ It was right around the time that Marlena ‘I’m Conceited’ Evans and John ‘Crazy Eyebrows School of Acting’ Black were married, and they went off on their honeymoon leaving their daughter Bell behind whom was like four. So Marlena and John come back after like a month long honeymoon, and suddenly their daughter Bell is seventeen and played by another actress. It made no sense, it still makes no sense…. It hurts my brain now even thinking about it.
That was my similar reaction to the season finale of Couples Therapy. I almost started shouting at the television, ‘This is just like that BS where Bell Black aged twelve years over a long weekend.’ But I held that in, as no one would understand what the Hell I was ranting about, and my wife gets very annoyed in general when I start shouting at the television like it can hear me.
It just seemed like ‘Kitchen Sink’ editing ruled here, of a soap opera nature, hence the Days of Our Lives reference. As a series that frames itself on a fine dining experience with the intimacy and sensitivity of stepping into a at risk relationship, this was like being stuck with no reservations and having to get drive thru. And coming away with heart burn as a result.
Courtney and her Mom…
Yeap, they are screwed up. But not a lot of substance came out of this segment. All I really came away with is that Doctor Jenn does awesome dramatic staring when she continually glances between two people who are talking crazy.
Jojo and Tiny,
I so wish these two the best. And was uplifted hearing him, with her at his side, took those first steps and attend that AA meeting. I’m happy to see, and least from as far as I know, that my initial feeling of Jojo being at the point of a hopeless alcoholic who would drink himself to death was perhaps to hasty. God bless them both.
Well, it was nice to see Doug able to re-start having a dialogue with his mom again.
Just, from the editing, felt very contrived. It was like one of those horrible ‘Brat Pack’ melodrama movies from the eighties, where all the emotional conflicts get resolved and everybody grows a little and moves on in life. I’m surprised some song from Night Ranger didn’t start playing in the background as I watched it wrapping up.
… And talk about contrived endings.
Why, why was it my favorite couple on the show that did this? Or more so were talked into doing this by the producers? Honestly, they looked great, and I don’t wanna critique it, because as I have said the kitchen sink editing of this episode killed a lot of what I like about the show, especially here.
In the end?
What I have learned from watching this show is one thing. Despite all the difficulties, challenges, and the very harsh personal set backs I have experienced this year due to losing my career like so many others in our nation, I am so blessed by God to have a wife like mine whom lifts me up through all this. A woman whom supports me, loves me, and gives me the unfathomable joy to be the father of her children. I owe, and adore her so much. And I am all to reminded of it as I watched these other people, like myself, trying to help themselves be a better person for another, simply because they love them so much they cannot help but do it. It was very enjoyable (well besides the editing, and Dourtney) to watch and spend time with these amazing couples, while watching with the woman I love.
Wow – what a sweet way to end the season (and I’m talking about Mr. Lulu’s blog – not the show). I want to thank both of you for finding such an interesting way to blog this show. NMD
