Trouble at the Mob Wives Premiere? According to RadarOnline, Mobwife Karen Gravano was furious at the venue and management that arranged for the Premiere party because they didn’t want any publicity relating to urban or hip-hop culture. Calling it racism, Gravano said: “I’m trying to be the better person and not flip out on anyone but I was about to smash the b*tch in the face with her f**king bowling ball! I will never patronize that place nor would I recommend it to anyone that I know. The management and staff was rude, racists and disrespectful.”
What set off the disagreement was a series of emails the management sent to several guests saying they’d appreciate it if they didn’t write about the event on their websites or magazines, which featured HipHop Culture. According to management: “The MOB Wives event was set up as barter for positive press related to High Fashion, NYC Society and Gossip. We were specific when designing the barter as to which press outlets would receive the release, and what the story angle should be. The night was designed to be about hosts and guests having fun and relaxing at an upscale venue, for the premiere of a new Season of the hit reality show. Any other requested press angles, relating to attendees other than the 3 hosts, or alternate press outlets were respectfully declined.”
It sounds a little complicated, and I don’t see how it is racism to control press coverage – but I suppose it was all in how they acted towards the guests.
Kim and Kyle Richards – Stars in Danger
Kim and Kyle Richards, along with a group of other ‘stars’ are debuting on a new show on Fox – Stars in Danger. The ‘stars’ learn how to dive and face their fears. Kim and Kyle gave in interesting interview to the Huffington Post about why they signed up for the show, how it affected their relationship, and some other topics. Kyle tweeted this photo of the pair. Below is a summary of their interview.
Why they signed up: Kyle – no clue; Kim – to spend quality time with Kyle
Did it help their relationship: yes
Are they afraid of heights: Kyle – yes; Kim – yes but she didn’t realize it
And here are a few answers to questions about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills:
Do you find that strange that the main drama on the show is about a topic people don’t know about (Adrienne’s secret)?
Kyle: “Yeah, it’s difficult for us. I defended Adrienne and then the audience doesn’t exactly know what happens. They don’t have a complete picture, which doesn’t do Adrienne or those of us who defended her any service because the audience doesn’t know.”
Will we get more clues as the season goes along?
Kyle: “I’m not sure. That hasn’t obviously been our choice. When it was first said, I thought, “Please, that shouldn’t be out there. No one should talk about this.” I thought once it was, at least let’s be honest so people can see exactly what’s going on. That wasn’t ultimately our choice.”
Lisa Vanderpump Gobsmacked
Lisa tweeted this photo with the following tweet: “I have to admit when Alec Baldwin jumped out of his car to say hi,cuddled Giggy and did a picture
#gobsmacked.” Then she had to explain what gobsmacked means (heh) “Sorry lost in translation……gobsmacked = blown away” Is that a word you don’t use in this country? We definitely used it in Canada when I was growing up. I’m glad to hear Alec is a fan of Lisa and Giggy.
Lisa also sent this tweet to Amy Phillips, who did a spot-on impression of Lisa on WWHL. “@AmyPhillips_it was too good…maybe you could move in for a few days,he wouldn’t know the difference..I could do with a break:)”
Bethenny Update. Bethenny will be on Ellen today. According to Ellen’s website: “She’s giving Ellen and her audience some great advice on little changes you can make to help you get the best out of the new year. Plus, she’ll address the news about her personal life that was making headlines throughout the holidays.”
Meanwhile E-Online has a breakdown of the Reality TV Star’s earnings over the last few years. The Skinnygirl Beam deal brought in around $50 million in 2011, $5-10 million in 2012, and will likely bring in about the same this year. Last year she was 97th on Forbes Celebrity 100 Chart.
Alex McCord, Ramona Singer, and Aviva Drescher are all walking the runway at the “The Reality of Fashion; The Reality of AIDS,” fashion show, which will take place during New York Fashion Week in Manhattan. Who can forget the last time Alex and Ramona walked the runway together – at the Brooklyn fashion show, with Jill Z in the audience making snide comments, and Ramona looking about as awkward as a person could get on the runway. I can only hope the cameras are there to capture Ramona – because she is endlessly entertaining.
Dance Moms – Season Three Episode 2
I stalked the gossip sites for any secrets to share on Dance Moms, but there wasn’t much out there. However, I did find Chloe & Maddie’s jewelry line. For those that are interested, enjoy: www.theglitzygirl.com/.
Out With the Old, in With the New
It’s time to go back to Pittsburgh and ALDC. In the parking lot, Holly, Christi, Melissa, and Jill (in horrible pants) gather to discuss the current situation with Kelly. In a talking head (TH), Christi says that the moms are at their breaking point because they are a team – and that team includes Kelly. According to her, Abby is saying the team includes Shelly and that’s not what the other moms signed up for. Huh? Look – I like Kelly, Brooke, and Paige (B&P), but I’m pretty sure they walked away and didn’t come back. Abby didn’t kick them out, so I am very confused at this point. My home girl Christi needs to start making sense if I’m going to have her back this season.
Christi tells the other moms that’s it’s up to them to convince Kelly that she belongs with the team. In TH, Holly comments that the team isn’t the same without Kelly and B&P and the moms are going to take a stand for what’s right. They all want the trio back. I agree about wanting them back. I love B&P – especially Paigers, so darn cute.
They walk into ALDC, ignore ALM sitting at the front desk, and head into the ladies room. ALM immediately senses something is up. In the ladies room, the moms talk about being in agreement about a plan. In her TH, Melissa shares the plan. The moms are going to sit silent, not participate in pyramid, and have a stand-off until Kelly is back. Somehow I’m thinking silent moms aren’t going to make ALM mad…. Only happy.
They sit in the lobby with their arms folded, no talking, just staring at their cell phones. ALM asks if they’ve recovered from their weekend. I’m tempted to call them childish, but am reminded that I sometimes do this to my husband when I’m mad. Oops. In her TH, ALM says she was trying to be polite and have a conversation and no one is talking. She can’t figure out what is going on.
ALM gets up and tries to find the girls. They are nowhere to be found. When she returns to the front desk, the moms are gone as well. ALM dials Melissa and leaves a VM about how she is sacrificing M&M’s dance career for Kelly.
ALM decides to move on and work with the people who are at the studio – i.e. Ally’s solo. Cut to Shelly in a TH where she is shocked the team is gone… so shocked, she uses the word “gone” six times. She heads into the dance studio to ask ALM what happened. ALM says she doesn’t know what’s going on but Melissa is a fool because Maddie needs her and needs to dance. The rest of the girls can go be girl scouts. I thinking I should be shocked at this comment, but after three seasons, I guess I’m desensitized to ALM. Shelly asks if it’s about Kelly. ALM doesn’t answer but asks Ally if the girls said anything to her. Ally nods “no.”
ALM goes back to the front desk to ask again about the moms. No one has heard a word. ALM says we wasted an entire day when we could have been rehearsing. Then – she notices the moms outside in the parking lot. She decides to find out what’s going on.
She asks them what’s going on several times, but they don’t respond. She turns to Holly and pleads with her because she would never be so rude. Agree. Holly is always classy. Holly remains quiet. ALM says she doesn’t understand why they are this upset over one student (Ally) and if they are doing this for Kelly, they are fools. In TH, Christi compares ALM to a T-Rex in Jurassic Park. She keeps shouting, but they’re being quiet and trying not to move. In fact, Melissa is hiding her face behind a Sweet Tarts box. Suddenly, I’m hungry for candy…. But Starburst.
ALM walks off shouting that it’s over and she’s replacing the kids. She tells her staff to get started on finding new kiddos. Then, she calls 911 to report the moms for trespassing. She asks the cops to move them off her lot. Seriously, 911? In what world was that an emergency? What ever happened to just calling the police department? Thanks ALM for wasting the good people of Pittsburgh’s money.
ALM goes through her notes from the previous audition and asks some of the kiddos to join her tomorrow for rehearsal. The cops show up and the moms leave. ALM seems happy and says, “we have a way better group than what we started with.”
Cut to Canton, OH and the apples….. Jill is visiting Cathy. Jill claims she was in the area and decided to stop by and see what’s going on. Um no, Cathy is over two hours from ALDC. I’m pretty sure Jill wasn’t just in the neighborhood. Jill fills Cathy in on what’s going on and says the kids have no place to dance. Cathy asks her if she is there to get Kendall a spot on her team. Jill is noncommittal. Cathy accuses her of being a studio hopper. Jill leaves.
Cut to ALDC. Ally arrives and immediately works on her solo while waiting for the new team. The new team arrives and ALM is very excited. We meet Bella (10) and her mom, Marcia. And Kaeli (no age) and her mom, Gloria. ALM says another girl is flying in as well. ALM thanks the moms for putting their lives on hold and getting there quickly. In TH, she says they better learn from the other mom’s mistakes.
Moving to Christi’s house. All the moms are there – even Kelly. Holly comments that ALM was just looking for an excuse to replace them. All the moms agree. Christi says that ALM has been doing this for 32 years, but no one knew her name until their kids danced under it. Kelly says fans will be expecting to see the kids dance this weekend and will get the new kids. Christi says that people go to the competitions to see their kids dance. The moms decide to put together a performance and will advertise it via social media. In TH, Christi says this will send a statement to ALM about the talent that just walked out the door. They decide to let the girls choreograph. They are all excited, but I can’t help but notice Melissa is VERY quiet. And while I’m happy that the girls have gained a huge fan base, I with ALM on this one. Those girls wouldn’t have a fan base without her. She is the real star of Dance Moms….hence, her spinoff. Am I defending ALM? What is happening to me this season?
Back at ALDC, Yvette (Hadley’s mom) from ALM’s Ultimate Dance Competition calls the studio. Yvette owns a dance studio of her own and will be at the same competition this weekend. ALM really can’t be bothered, but feigns excitement. Yvette says Hadley has a solo and there is a group dance.
Cut to Yvette’s house. Yvette expresses worry to Hadley over some of the things ALM said to her. Yvette thinks that once ALM found out she was a dance teacher, she treated Hadley different. And that ALM tried to get to Yvette, through Hadley. Hadley says it’s different going to dance every day because she still has those words in her head, “road kill.” Yvette gives her a pep talk. Hadley is a doll, but this scene looks super scripted.
Back to ALDC, we find out that we’re waiting on Sophia who is apparently better than Maddie. ALM calls her a child prodigy who is a major deal at dance competitions. As she is arriving, ALM tells the other girls, “She’s gonna waltz in here and be the star, and take over, if you let her.” The new moms in the peanut gallery get angry at this. Where have I seen this before? Sophia is joined by her mom, Jackie, and ALM is so thrilled, she calls her “the new Maddie” to her face. Awkward.
ALM introduces Sophia to the other girls and Jackie joins the moms. As Sophia learns the dance, Jackie asks where all the other moms are. No one knows. Sophia asks ALM to go over a part of the dance and we hear her voice for the first time. I kid you not, she probably has the sweetest voice I’ve ever heard. If my sugar bowl could talk (probably to say “Don’t eat me.”), it would sound like Sophia.
And here comes the very funny quote of the week, brought to you by ALM talking directly to Sophia, “It’s just that voice is killing me. You know. Minnie Mouse has a job. We don’t need another one.”
It’s the next day of rehearsal and all the new girls arrive. Jackie finds out that the other girls didn’t get solos. In TH, ALM says she wants to win, so she gave her “ace in the hole” a solo. They are headed to Dance Expressions in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. ALM lays on the pressure because she is debuting a new ALDC team.
Sophia’s contemporary solo is called My New Reality because it’s about ALM’s new reality. Jackie says it’s because ALM keeps saying “she’s replacing Maddie.” Marcia gets upset about this and wonders why she is there. Gloria tries to keep it cool by wishing Sophia luck. The lyrical group dance is called Cry. In her TH, ALM says it’s about saying goodbye to the old things and moving on. Selfishly, I’m hoping we don’t move on as I have to keep looking up the new mom’s names.
Over at Kelly’s house, the moms tell the girls about the planned performance. They are pumped that they get to choreograph it. At this point, I am starting to think the storyline is scripted because the kids are so happy. Usually, Maddie would be in tears if she thought she couldn’t compete. Something is rotten in Denmark. In TH, Holly says we need to show ALM that we don’t need her, she needs us. The performance will be at a local mall. Christi is pumped about shopping…. This is why I love her. Melissa gets a text message form Shelly about Sophia’s arrival. They decided to ignore it and join the girls downstairs to see what they’ve come up with.
Back at ALDC, ALM informs the moms about Yvette and Hadley and the whole “road kill” comment. She lays on the pressure about how fans will expect to see the original group, so they better be good. ALM says if they win the overall high score, they could be household names.
Cut to the mall. The moms are worried because no one is there. The girls start rehearsing as the moms coach them along.
Hello Ft. Wayne! ALM is excited to debut her new team. She passes Yvette & Hadley in the hall and Yvette asks about her new team. ALM says she “had to put the trash out.” Ally and Sophia practice their solos and ALM lays into Sophia about outshining Hadley, Maddie, and Chloe.
Ally’s lyrical solo is called Forever and a Day and she is dressed in a pink top and skirt. She does an amazing job. ALM is very happy. I think Ally and her mom are very sweet. I feel bad that they were caught in the middle of all this.
Hadley’s contemporary solo is called More and she is dressed in an awful lime green tutu with purple feathers. Why would Yvette put such a pretty girl in that? She does well, but it’s definitely not contemporary – more like Jazz.
Sophia is next – and in her TH, she has a normal voice. What happened to my sugar? She is amazing – probably the best I’ve seen on this show. Now, I get what all the hype is about. Sophia is one hell of a dancer. I kept checking my notes to make sure she was really 10. ALM is insanely happy and wishes Kelly was in the audience to see Sophia perform.
In order to impress ALM, Gloria (Glo) does the unthinkable and tries to enter Kaeli in a solo without ALM’s permission. Does she not watch this show? In the dressing room, Bella and Marcia are upset because they think Kaeli is doing a solo. ALM says if she is, then she’s off the team. Kaeli runs to the lobby to tell her mom to stop. Glo is upset that Marcia would rat on her because she’s the one that introduced Bella to ALM.
Glo rejoins the group and ALM gives her the third degree. Glo says she was trying to enter Kaeli in a solo in case ALM needed it. That’s the best excuse she could come up with? Glo and Marcia get into it. Glo is mad Marcia tattled on her. Marcia didn’t think it was fair and says she’ll never forget this. She respected Glo as a teacher. It’s really not that big of a deal. Yawn. In TH, ALM says the new moms are acting like the old ones and doesn’t understand why she attracts the crazy.
Yvette’s group routine is up first with a Jazz dance called Criminal of Love. They do a really good job – and Hadley stands out the most. Plus, it was nice to see an upbeat number. ALDC is up next and it’s very pretty. ALM says it wasn’t perfect, but it should win.
Award time. Ally gets 2nd place in the Teen Solo category. ALM is livid because Ally’s technique was better. Hadley gets 2nd place in the Elite Junior Solo category while Sophia takes 1st. Well deserved. ALM says Hadley was the road that Sophia drove over.
ALDC gets 2nd place in Junior Small Group category while Yvette takes 1st. ALM is mortified she was beaten and doesn’t think Yvette’s kids deserved to win. Yvette is on “cloud 9.” ALM goes over to hug and congratulate her. Yvette says they make a great team and ALM says “you scare me.”
Cut back to the mall. There are tons of fans in attendance. Christi introduces the girls who thank the fans for coming. Their dance is very cute and the fans go crazy. Holly asks how it was different than performing with ALM. The girls admit no one screamed at them. Christi is proud they did it without ALM. Holly says it was a great day, but it revealed that the girls need discipline and a dance teacher. It wasn’t up to the standards that the moms are used to, so they have a lot to think about. Say, what?
Back to the competition dressing room, Glo is complaining that Ally got 2nd in solo and group. She thinks that impacted everyone else and ALM isn’t happy with 2nd. Shelly ignores her comment and asks the moms to zip it in front of the kids to set a good example. ALM walks in and is very upset about getting 2nd – especially to Yvette. Shelly decides to leave with Ally saying “she wants to give everyone space.” Marcia says that Shelly cracked and displayed her true colors. Or maybe she is just a classy lady who doesn’t want her kid to be a part of the craziness? I’m Team Shelly. ALM says she is disappointed in the group –but thank god for Sophia. She thinks this team is just as disappointing as the old one, so she has some tough decisions to make.
That’s it, friends. What did you think of this week’s episode? Is anyone else slowly switching to ALM’s side? Next week, everyone but Sophia leave the team and the original moms show up to ALDC to talk it over.
