Here we go.. The show opens with the fans being taken to their destination via a boat. The returning suspects are arriving in two helicopters. The producers introduce each of the favorites and show us how it was they got sent home the last time they were on or what it is that cost them the game (Malcom couldn’t complete the hold the stick together thingy (Did I just say that?) and Skupin won immunity guaranteeing him the spot in the final 3). Of course, we meet the newbies as well (I wish it was ALL newbies) but I don’t care much about any of them yet because I don’t know who they are.

The first to arrive to their destination is the Gota (fans) tribe. On the way the producers show us all the dangerous animals in, I assume the lagoon (but probably not). Probst greets them on their mat and tells them they are about to meet their opponents. The copters land and dust up the ‘fans’ pretty good on the beach and then as each steps out they are introduced. Probst hands them their buffs (Gota- Orange, Bikal (faves) Purple. It’s already challenge time (they have to get their stuff)

The game involves two tribe members racing out to a pole holding a ring and then racing back to the flag pole while two members from the other tribe try to stop them and I assume steal the ring.. The first tribe member to reach their flag pole with the ring and grab the pole, wins a point. 4 points needed to win, the reward, is Fire. Probst notes that the returning suspects knows how important that is in the game. The winning tribe also gets 20 pounds of beans, that the others will not have. The challenge takes place entirely in the water and Probst tells them to figure out what they are going to wear. Already I’m thinking this isn’t going to be pretty. Let’s see what happens, Shall we?

screen shots

One man one woman from each tribe at a time. For Bikal, Erik and Dawn, for Goto, Julia and Shamar. Out of the gate, Erik takes off like a bat out of hell and is the first to grab the ring. Now he has to get it back but he has to go through Shamar (not going to happen, he’s a big boy) so he tosses the ring to the other end of the court. Dawn and Julia are after it but Julia gets it first. Dawn manages to knock it away from her and it’s up for grabs again. Shamar reaches it first and gets to the flagpole with it. One point Goto, Bikal, zippo. Next round. Hope and Eddie (Goto) vs Brandon and Andrea (Bikal) (Brandon wants to tackle somebody). Okay, I thought only one could go to the pole with the ring. Not true. As long as a player has hold of the ring, and the pole, they get a point. When they begin the round, it is Eddie who reaches the ring first and he launches it down court. I think I would have my partner waiting there for it but that would only work once. At one point, all 4 have hold of the ring and it’s a wrestling tug of war to get to one pole or another. It is Andrea who manages it first so now the score is 1:1.

Third round.. Sherri and Michael for Goto, Brenda and Phillip for Bikal.. Ummmm, Couldn’t Phillip have brought a swimsuit? Is it really necessary that he stand there in his pink tighty whities? I fear what is to come from this guy (Blue Speedo anyone?– Okay I won’t mention that again).. It is Michael that gets to it first. Phillip is there waiting for him when he starts to come back and it is those two who are wrestling to the flag poles. Meanwhile Sherri and Brenda are in their own match to help their teammate. In the midst of all this, Shamar hollers out ‘Break her wrist!’. That stops Probst in his play by play as he says ‘WHAT?’ Shamar tries to correct himself by telling Probst he meant break the wrist hold. I guess that satisfied him because we get back to the action (I think it was a bitch thing for Shamar to say).. Back at the ring, All 4 have hold of it. Phillip lets go of it and instead, grabs Micheal’s leg and begins pulling the entire bunch toward Bikal’s flagpole and when he’s close enough he grabs the ring, puts his hand on the pole, claiming the second point for Bikal (faves). Round 4.. Matt and Laura vs Cochran and Francesca.. All 4 just walk through the water to get to the ring. Fran (I’m going to call her this for the duration) and Matt proceed ahead while Cochran and Laura stay behind to fight it out. Matt is basically allowed to take the ring and Fran begins her challenge to him. Then again, all 4 are on the ring tugging it down to the flagpoles. Even Cochran is in on it. They get down there and it is Fran who reaches the flagpole first. Score, 3 to 1..

Round 5.. Malcom and Corrine vs Reynold and Allie.. Faves need one to win, fans need 3 (I hope this doesn’t go on 3 more rounds).. Malcom and Reynold both take off like bats out of hell sprinting to the ring pole. Reynold gets it first and tries to toss it to the women. Malcom blocks the through with a flying cross body move (wrestling fans know what that is).. So the two of them are fighting for it and at some point the women add their best to this fight. It is Malcom that reaches the flagpole first and wins the 4th point for his team. Oh yes, Both fellas lost their shorts in this fight. Reynold is going to give Malcom a Serious run for his money. The reward is handed out and each team is sent to their camps to begin on the shelters. I’ll say this, the fans didn’t lose for lack of effort but, that’s the way it goes. One wins, one loses.

Okay, it is now officially day 1. The tribes get to their camps, Goto is shown first and they are greeted with a machete and rice but their water is almost gone for some reason (one canteen). Probst told them to go back and build the shelter but they also need fire to boil water. Matt right away begins on the shelter and others begin to help him. Shamar (the Ex Marine Iraq veteran) doesn’t think that’s needed right now. He thinks it’s more important to get a fire going but is doing Nothing to get that done (Don’t combat Marines know how to rub a couple sticks together creating friction for enough heat to ignite a flame in some kindling? It may be some serious physical work for a few minutes but shouldn’t be that difficult for an ex-marine to handle if fire is what he wants). Already, I’m thinking Shamar is going to be one of those lazy phucks who thinks everyone else should carry His weight and thinks his brawn is going to intimidate everyone in to doing it. I say, Shamar doesn’t eat that night. While they are arguing about who should do what and what should be done, Shamar tells Matt to shut up. Shamar in the end though finally gets off of his ass and helps them build fire but, only after watching them do it wrong for quite some time.

Over on the other side, things are going pretty smooth and there is more alliance and strategery talk shown than getting things put together. Phillip (somebody please give that man some swim trunks or something to cover those pink drawrs.) says he’s playing a Boston Rob type game. He sets his alliance and a couple others so he has a place to jump to. The Goto tribe is doing about the same thing now that they have themselves sort of squared away. I’m not going to go into who is with who because very few alliances survive the first tribal council. Besides, some are just kind of feeling their way around their groups to see where everybody is at. On the Goto tribe, there are quite a number of braggarts. These are usually the first to go. Cochran is roasted bright red. Dude should have brought some sun block, he should know better than anyone how quickly gingers burn. Also worth noting, that while sleeping on night 2, Reynold and Allie appear to be hooking up. This doesn’t go unnoticed by the others and I think at one point I saw him grope her chesticle. You know, while they were all huddled together to stay warm..

Immunity Challenge time.. The object is, for 2 from each team go up a floor at a time on the tower. Once both team members are there, they are to toss 3 crates holding sandbags over the edge to bust the crates open. Then they slide down a pole, go back to their mat, next pair goes. Once all 12 crates are over the edge, the remaining 2 members of the tribe, collects the sand bags and they must toss one in to each of 6 holes. First tribe to do so, wins immunity. Also, if the Fans win, they will receive fire.

Okay just the highlights. The first 4 pairs go for each tribe and until the 4th it’s dead even almost. The 4th set however, Fave’s have a clear lead as Malcom and Dawn are collecting sandbags before the fans complete the tower. Malcom does the bag toss for Bikal and Reynold for Goto.. It’s pretty close until Reynold catches up and while Malcom tries to get his 5th one in, Reynold sinks his 6th one, winning immunity and fire for his tribe. A come from behind victory. Malcom, there’s a new kid on the block and he’s gunning for your spot on the MVP list. Faves are going to tribal council that night, and only 9 will return to camp (day 3). Probst excuses them and they head back.

Back at camp, Bikal returns and TH Fran says that it came down to luck, they should have won (My words not hers), if it had taken 10 seconds longer for Reynold to get the 6th bag, then they would have won. Maybe so, maybe not but it is still Bikal going to council. She and Cochran are sitting in the shelter (earlier, she had approached Phillip about aligning and letting bygones be bygones, clean slate. He told her it’s all good and apparently the two are on one of Phillip’s alliances) and she says that he is the first one who should go (you need strength to make it to the merge and you need friends to make it to final 3 and at any point, you need to out play (screw over) all of those around you). The next name that comes up is Corrine, as she’s bringing him a wet buff so he can cool himself off. He likes her, Fran doesn’t really trust her. In fact, he feels pretty good about everybody there. Brandon is the next to stagger by along with a few others including Andrea. So it’s assumed that everybody, at least 6 are on board with sending Phillip home. However, Andrea runs and tells Phillip what the plan is and of course, he wants to send Fran home, first, for a second time. Eventually, the discussions turn to splitting the vote because Phillip may have an idol (Really? Already? IS there an idol? I haven’t seen anyone look for it or a clue). Once again, before the head to council there is no clear cut decision. Fran is talking of splitting the vote between Phillip and Corrine. I don’t know why her name came up. I personally think it’s pretty stupid to second guess yourself like that in this game. There are too many combos and possibilities for votes for anyone to really be able to feel what’s going on. I didn’t lay out the alliances earlier because as I said, they never last the first council. Dawn is in Cochran’s ear about the two of them going to the end, al la Malcom and Denise. Erik has told Brandon and Fran that he’s definitely voting for Phillip because of the trip that Phillip laid on him about being with, or against.. He has the numbers either way and Erik is still pissed about that conversation. As long as Phillip is wearing those pink drawrs, I would mind seeing him go home either. Now, Brandon and Erik, after assuring Dawn she’s safe, talk to Fran about Andrea telling her that Andrea has a big mouth (basically) and that she’s telling EVERYONE what the plan is. So now the plan is to vote Her out but not tell anyone what they are doing. I get the feeling that Fran is leaving first. Let’s see what happens.

Tribal time.. Probst ushers them in, instructs them to get fire and the Probsting begins. He asks Brandon if there is a clear boss or if everyone is running around doing their own thing. B answers that there are 10 chiefs and no indians. He says that nobody wants to get done like they got done the last time. Probst says it’s going to happen to one of them, tonight. He turns to Fran and brings up whatever rivalry there was between her and Phillip. She says he’s learned to pronounce her name so it’s all good. That is, until he mockingly says her name (correctly) 3 times and then says ‘you’re welcome’. Her eyes rolled and I think I saw a little steam come from her ears. I don’t know if she’s fully aware that he knows of her plan. He’s called her a great strategist and that’s why he wants Her gone. Probst notes that while she is a returning player, she is also the least experienced. By the way, Phillip know how to pronounce her name all along but he didn’t do it the night she went home in lieu of expletives.

Probst turns to Cochran and asks him about what’s happening noting that even with all the strategery, things can change even at council. Cochran notes that being a returning player has it’s advantage because they already know what needs to be done first. He notes that surprises can come at any time, things like Boston Rob tapping someone on the shoulder he wanted voted off.. Malcom reaches across and puts his hand on Cochran’s shoulder. They aren’t shocked about where they have to go to the bathroom and they already know how to open a coconut. Stuff like that. Time to vote. Brandon is first. We get to Fran, her vote is for Andrea. She votes for Fran..

All the votes are in, Probst goes to collect them. Usual stuff, this has happened once a week for now 26 seasons. I guess an idol does exist, he just asked for it. As he is reading the votes, the first six are split between Andrea and Fran, three each. Now it’s 4/4. Are we heading for a true split (it’s a nail biter folks).. 9th vote read, Fran.. 5/4.. 10th vote read.. Any guesses? Are we going to have a blackball vote? I’ve never seen one and want to. However, I won’t get my wish. The final vote is for Francesca. First one gone, again..

screen shots

screen shots

I won’t bother with who voted for who but, Cochran, voted for Fran.. I think he may have been that swing vote. It just goes to show that you can’t guess who is going home (well, we probably did in this round) who will be voted off of the game. Fran says she made some sort of history, I guess (because my player stopped at this point) for being out first, twice. She still doesn’t have experience with the game. She strategerized herself right out, first, again. Next week, Brandon channels his uncle, Russel Hantz. See you then.. You can watch at CBS.COM or contact me here on the blog for the freebie players (that sometimes don’t work) to see it commercial free to save 28 minutes of your time.

  1. Powell says:

Good morning. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. I hope you get your Valentine. Have a great day.

  2. 2Stupid says:

I gave up watching Bravo for Lent. I have decided I am still going to read here (don’t know if that’s stretching my sacrifice), but am not watching on TV at all! I think I need a break from the nonsense. When I scream at the TV why would Kyle bring Faye and my kids ask who is Faye, I know I have gotten in a little too far. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  3. BB says:

Happy lovey dovey day! Happy Birthday AdGirl.

Thanks for the Survivor recap MTH.

  4. lizzle says:

What a bizarre season of RHOBH? Didn’t their mama’s teach these ladies not to deceive or lie. No matter who you like… somebody is lying about the Faye invite and about Brandi’s letter from Adrienne. We all just think it is different people. And Camille… who the hell does she think she is this season? I guess Season 1 Camille… is the real Camille…. a bit manic depressive.

Thanks NMD for keeping this blog going! And MTH… you are my TV when it comes to Survivor. I read the show through your eyes.

One last thing… thanks to everyone who gave me meal suggestions the other day. I have actually made them all except the Captain Crunch chicken…. which I am making tonight! It seems like a small thing to give me meal ideas, but it was a bigger help than anyone may realize. So a big thank you for all those who took the time to reply. That is why I love it here!

    • lizzle says:

Clarification: Manic depressive isn’t the right word to describe Camille… it is like she is quiet and uninvolved and then switches gears to very loud and involved in a situation that doesn’t involve her. That’s what I meant.

    • Catseye says:

I get the impression that Adrienne just likes to push people around. I remember an article from a while back that her latina housekeeper wasn’t paid properly for overtime and tried to sue for backwages. It was reported that Adrienne spent WAY more money on lawyers, fighting the poor woman, who I think eventually gave up.

      • lizzle says:

Wow! What a beyotch! If there is one thing that I can’t stand… it’s litigious people… it creates an imbalance in justice that is directly related to the amount of money someone has to sustain lawsuits. Adrienne uses her money to control people in her life through litigation. I think the root of Adrienne’s personality disease is that she has an unnatural need to control everything in and surrounding her life.

        • lizzle says:

Clarification: litigious, IMO, means that Adrienne uses her lawyer to solve her problems more than the average person… even the average rich person. I don’t believe lawyers are bad and I don’t believe it is bad to seek out justice.

          • Catseye says:

Well, there is an old saying something like pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. Maybe that’s why the Maloof Millions are slowly decreasing. Adrienne comes off as desperate for money with those stupid shoes, skin care line, now purses with her initials on them. Most people I know, who spend top dollar on handbags and such, do so for the quality NOT only the label.

            • Chicago Diane says:

Actually, I think Adrienne is the little princess who grew up in a family where her father and now her brothers have controlled most of the decisions and made most of the money. She appears to be desperate to have a “success” of her own- hence the hoofs, etc. Her concern about the use of the Palm, etc, seemed to be about using the show to provide visibility/income to the “family business”, as she searches for ways to become as “powerful”/”successful” as her brothers have been- , Hence all the product array, etc.
Too bad it has all backfired form the judge’s comments, etc- to the boyfriend. She has made a fool of herself.

          • Me in TN says:

            Lizzle,
You’d better add “allegedly” to your above statement 🙂

            • lizzle says:

LOL… if she sues me… she will get a whole bunch of nothing! But… you are right… I forget how crazy some of these ladies are (allegedly) and wouldn’t put it past them to try and sue!

        • Powell says:

That sure didn’t make sense. She should have just paid the lady her money. Doesn’t Adrienne always insist that she’s busy? It would seem to me that getting her lawyer involved was a waste of time. I know lawyers do what they can legally do for their client but it would seem to me her lawyer would tell her its a waste of everyone’s time and just pay the lady.

          • VV says:

Busy doing what? Getting Botox and filler son that Catified face of hers? That really bugs me when she uses her money and power for Ego trips instead of helping others.

      • rabblerouser2010R says:

I don’t remember that story regarding Adrienne, I remember one about Alexis on RHOC.

      • designernailsdiana says:

WOW that took her another notch lower and I already had her at the gutter.

    • T-Rex says:

Camila-Two-Face is the definition of Passive/Agressive behaviour. Look HoofMaloofs attorneys sent some sort of letter, the reason this “letter” isn’t being shown, IMO is that it contains the particulars of what Brandi said. We know that Bravo was also sent a letter to edit out this informaiton, therefore the HoofMaloof knows Bravo can’t show the letter or allow the ladies to discuss what was in the letter. Most of the ladies have seen the letter and the only two idiots claiming there wasn’t one is HoofMaloof-notoriousliar(allegedly), and Camilla-Two-Face who claims that this “attorney” expressly told her, “private, client-confidential, could be used as a case for review of the Bar Association for sanctions for giving out client-attorney priviledged information” that they did not send the letter. Sorry gang even VileKyle isn’t suggesting there isn’t a letter, why because Brandi showed it to her.

      • lizzle says:

Yes! Two-faced and passive/ aggressive are the perfect words to describe her! It is beyond, beyond, beyond ridiculous to say that there was no letter. Two of Brandi’s friends have openly stated that they saw the letter and one was there when she got the letter. Camille and Adrienne have given information to the audience that was proven false… so they have no credibility.

      • kit9 says:

They could easily black out the confidential stuff and still show the letter. I was surprised that when Taylor was on WWHL that she wasn’t sure there was a letter and neither was Andy.

    • Powell says:

I think those of them that have continued to lie season after season feel justified because they are bringing drama & securing their spot. But I don’t want the lies. I, we all know it’s not true reality tv but they need to be truthful, not out & out lie or exaggerate. It’s getting old.

      • Sus says:

It is old! Enough. I’m sick of the arguing. Honestly, anyone that tells a “secret” to anyone and expects it to remain a secret, is a moron. The whole thing is so stupid.

    • VV says:

I just don’t see Lisa Vanderpump picking up the phone and calling Faker. “Hi Faye, I have a Tea Party over at my house and wanted to invite you dahling” Sorry, I don’t see that happening. I think Production did.

      • Beckygrey says:

Faye said that she received an invitation like everyone else. She doesn’t say that Lisa gave her the invitation, just that everyone received it the same way. I believe that Production sent the invitations, because when they were filming they were trying to make Faye a full time housewife. They couldn’t know how the viewers would have taken Faye at this pointing in the season.

    • Chicago Diane says:

May I ask which day has the suggested recipes/meals? I oculd use them and trust you all so much!

      Thanks!

  5. Powell says:

Happy birthday AdGirl. Have a great Valentine’s Birthday.

  6. Sus says:

Nene is co-hosting The View today

    • lizzle says:

I’ve grown to like her. I watch The New Normal on Hulu and her acting has improved tremendously. There is an episode where she plays Rocky (her character on the show), Rocky’s mom and Rocky’s dad around the dinner table. She did an amazing job… especially in the role of Rocky’s dad. I was impressed.

      • Beckygrey says:

It was an Eddie Murphy/Tyler Perry moment. I think she is doing so much better. At first her delivery of her lines were rushed and forced, but I think she is relaxing into her role.

    • Powell says:

Yeah. I was watching. She was in the psycho ex-cop’s manifesto as someone he admired. Scary. NeNe said her PR company informed her.

    • Laineylainey says:

I will have to look that up

  7. AZGirl says:

Happy Valentines Day! Mr. AZGirl and I went out last night to celebrate our 35th anniversary of our FIRST DATE 35 years ago today.
Happy Birthday AdGirl. Miss you here. If you are lurking please check in and let us know how you are doing.

  8. lizzle says:

One last thing about RHOBH, before I get going. Did anyone else find it strange when Adrienne was so pumped up about the threatening email sent to Camille by Russell? At the White Party, I was thinking that it was weird that Adrienne got in the middle of this thing between Taylor and Camille. She was acting a bit crazy about sending Taylor away, because Camille couldn’t be near her. BTW… it was just an email sent by Russell, not a lawyer! Onscreen… Camille and Adrienne didn’t appear to be that close. Now… I’m thinking they had an alliance all along. Based on what… I’m not sure.

    • rabblerouser2010R says:

I don’t think they could have been that close that season, since Camille didn’t take part in Adrienne’s plan to have a go at Lisa.

      • T-Rex says:

But Camilla-Two-Face KNEW about the plan, was invited IN on the plan but was out of town during the time of the proposed meeting to discuss the PLAN. She also lied that she wasn’t contacted and then got Busted and had to admit she had a call but pleading that she doesn’t remember all that was said, YEAH RIGHT! I guess Camilla-Two-Face has selective memory for sure. I think we need to OUT this attorney that leaks client priviledged information to other clients, I don’t think this lawyer would be all that happy that someone, named Camilla-Two-Face is telling the world that this lawyer is doing things that might be deemed somewhat unethical(allegedly)

      • lizzle says:

I think the first person Camille called about the Russell email was Adrienne. I think I recall a scene where Paul is leaning in on Adrienne’s phone conversation with Camille. But I guess, in the grand scheme of things… it isn’t really important. I just thought Adrienne’s behavior at the White Party was overly pushy.

    • VV says:

I don’t recall her being pump. I do recall the scene with her and Paul was rehearsed and many at Lynn’s site noticed.
I think they are closer than they let the audience know. Early during S1 Camille indicated she andKelsey socialized with Adrienne and Paul.
They both share same lawyer (s) or law firm.

      • lizzle says:

She wouldn’t let Kyle think… she was in Kyle’s face telling her to send them away when they got to the party. Kyle was upset that she was going to have to send Taylor away and Adrienne was following her around telling her to listen and it was the only thing she could do. I remember thinking that Adrienne was being way too pushy with Kyle and wishing she would just Kyle breathe for a minute. Of course, it was nice to see Taylor get kicked out, but I did feel for Kyle at the time, because that is a position that I wouldn’t want to be in and Adrienne just wouldn’t shut up about it.

        • VV says:

That’s right! That’s right! I remember at Malibu party, Brandi kicked Taylor out and Kyle got upset about that. Funny how Kylehad to do the same later on that season.
Taylor got kicked out of 2 parties.

  9. Boobah says:

    Happy Valentines Day everybody!

    Great blog today. Thank you!

MelTh – awesome recap. I’m just gonna put it out there – I love Cochran! I had a great chuckle when in his TH, he said something about having morals and shame. I think he does, but the way he said it was funny.

Is it just me, or was it a little fun watching Malcom knocked down a peg by the other guy (i forget his name)?! Like you said MelTH, watch your back Malcolm – there a new guy in town and he’s got your number. Teehee.

I also predicted Fran. She had a lot of TH’s throughout the show and she constantly mentioned that she was the first one voted out on her season. I perfect set-up for what was about to come.

And I’m sorry, but Phillp is a Hot Pink Panties Wearing Prick! Please let him be voted out SOON!

    Thanks for the good read.

    • Sus says:

      I agree – good recap Mel 🙂

I also agree about Cochran. I really like him.

    • melthehound says:

I get the feeling his pink panties are going to be around for awhile so, his new name is Pinky.. 😆

      • Boobah says:

Hahaha! Pinky it is then. Or we could just go with Prick. Jk. 😉

Seriosuly though – when he packed for his 2nd run on Survivor, what the hell made him think bright, hot pink, man-panties were a good idea?! He needs THAT much attention?! Reminds me of Richard Hatch, the 1st Survivor winner, going nekkid all over the island. Ugh.

        • melthehound says:

Shock value I’m sure.. I was thinking the same thing about Richard Hatch..

          • designernailsdiana says:

Ok that makes me appreciate MTH and his watching so I don’t have to see pink “manties”

            • melthehound says:

It’s the least I can do… With all the twitter following, reporting, article reading, and sharing you ladies do that is..

      • shamrockblonde says:

thanks Mel for the recap!! – Cochran really cracks me up – he may come across a bit nerdy, but he is very engaging – and he is smart – something that his charm hides – but then again – a life long ginger knows better than to venture out into the sun without sunblock – ew – Pinky – he has issues – loved how you called his pink undies the pink whitie tighties!! – too funny – oddly, those pink whitie tighties might be the only tight thing about him – he’s got something loose rolling around up there in is cranium – I didn’t care all that much for Malcom last season so I enjoyed seeing him get set back a peg – too early to tell who I’m rooting for, but it’s gonna be fun finding out!! – thanks again Mel!!

as for the scarlet letter – channeling one of the twins – I’m sooooo over it –

        *hugs entire board really hard*

ice let us know how your son’s surgery went. I sent up a prayer for him.

  11. Cathy Connor says:

Morning Happy Valentines Day !! Thanks for the Survivor blog MTH , am a big fan umm viewer of the show lol I think the favorites got a shock when they lost challenge poor Fran twice voted off first ,what a claim to fame.

    • kit9 says:

Holy hell, I can’t believe that one of the most heart warming stories of the summer Olymipcs, the man with no legs, the Blade Runner, Oscar Pistorius killed his girlfriend last night. Some are speculating it was a Valentine’s Day surprise gone wrong. He said he accidentally shot her in the head when he mistook her for an intruder. But, also read that there have been domestic incidents at the home before. Crazy.

      • Sus says:

I always wonder if the person who is dead would be alive if only there hadn’t been a gun in the house. I know it’s not the gun’s fault but guns make it so easy to kill. If he had to work at it, like stab or choke, would he have done it?

        • melthehound says:

“He said he accidentally shot her in the head when he mistook her for an intruder. But, also read that there have been domestic incidents at the home before.”
          ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Tragic it may be.. I have to say that I hope he planned to kill her.. Mainly because of this…

“I always wonder if the person who is dead would be alive if only there hadn’t been a gun in the house.”

While there are nuts who do, most people don’t carry their guns around in the house. I know I don’t and in an intruder situation I would have to retrieve, unlock, and load the weapon. For that reason alone, I’m more likely to stab an intruder or hit him in the head with the nearest heavy object. Then, stand on his throat while I wait for the police to arrive.

Based on that and what I’ve read here alone (because I’ve not read anything about it elsewhere, yet) that was no accident.

          • melthehound says:

Okay, after reading about it, I take back the part about it likely being on purpose. Given where the guy lives, it’s reasonable to think that he would keep a loaded gun nearby..

      • Powell says:

It’s sad. Seems like she had great things going on in her career. I’m sure its difficult for her family.

I cheered him on during the Olympics.

    • Boobah says:

Happy Valentnes Day, Cathy! LOL@ fan/viewer comment!

That must have felt awful for Fran! I actually felt bad for her – like you said – what a thing to be known for! I think it’s time for her hang up her buff and call it a day for good. If she’s ever asked to return again – I hope she Just Says No!

  12. iceNfire says:

Good Morning – KTinCT how sad and hard for you….>—sending—>*Love&Prayers*

  13. Cathy Connor says:

Boobah, How are you feeling about the marine Jeff sure did put him on blast .. Think Dawn was the swing vote wasnt she ?? Think the season going to be good . Anyone know what animal that was that was eating the frog cute but scary ??

    • Boobah says:

Cathy – I completely agree with Jeff. I was a little shocked by his attitude and laziness! I couldn’t understand why he didn’t work on the fire while the others worked on the shelter! I am not sure sure how much longer he’ll be around if he doesn’t get his ass up and help out. I don’t know what to think about Dawn. I like her but I’m not sure if I see her going far. What do you think?

That was a FROG!?!?! Omg! I thought that monkey thing was eating a really big grasshopper! Gross!

      • Cathy Connor says:

I might have seen it wrong but looked like a frog to me wouldnt swear on it … Brandi can teach him ( the marine) how to really tell someone to Shut Up lol picture those two out together !! Hope Dawn gets a backbone and a mind of her own I like her but shes a bit weak for the game she cries alot think they will gobble her up Might project Malcolm a winner if he plays it right this time. The new players young ones gettin too close to the young pretties Will b the down fall just sayin……great chattin with ya….

        • Boobah says:

Fun chatting with you too! I agree about Dawn – she seems too desperate right now. LOL at Brandi and the Marine…yeah she wouldn def straighten him out. Oh and it’s not bright at all that the younger ones got involved like they did! It’s a national TV show, not a college dorm! Lol!
I’m not sure either but whatever that monkey had in its mouth was big and the squriming skeeved me out!

          • Cathy Connor says:

Monkey me too ewww … excited to talk to someone bout Survivor you made my day and boss at a leadership conference so Im multi taskin here lol

    • melthehound says:

Shamar (the Marine) blew it with me when he said ‘break her wrist’ and then tried to back paddle about what he said.

I guess the swing vote could have been any of them. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to who voted for who. I only noted Cochran may have been because it was him who was talking to Fran about who to send home. They both seemed to be in agreement at first about sending Pinky home. I Suspect that Pinky was successful at least for now, building the 6 person main alliance. No one voted for him even though Erik absolutely hates him. I’ll also note, that right now, it’s 5 men, 4 women. The both could do wise to gender align and pick the others off one by one. Especially if a woman finds the idol.

      • shamrockblonde says:

he might be a Marine, and while I thank him for his service, and remember him in my prayers, being a Marine does not guarantee that a person will always show respect, good judgement, or will in general behave in a way fitting of the title “Marine” – he was out of line all the way –

        • melthehound says:

It’s possible that outside of the game, he might be a completely different person. I won’t judge him on a personal level but only what I see him do and hear him say. It’s likely that had their tribe lost the immunity challenge, he would be gone.

          • Cathy Connor says:

The newbie youngins ought to keep there eyes and hands to them selves those young pretties will mess with there game people uncomfortable with the snuggling goin on its not going unnoticed ROH ROH

            • melthehound says:

Remember Troyzann and his pal after the merge a couple seasons back (One world, men vs women)? Both prime examples of what happens when you get too close to the opponent. The women played them like well tuned fiddles.

  14. Had oral surgery yesterday. Had a lot of pain and pretty much out of it all night. Still taking meds of pain so I’m a little slow on the uptake. So sorry for all you’re going through ((KTinCT)). I lost my step dad 13 years ago on the 12th of Feb. Still hurts.
He was a great example of how a step parent should behave. He never bad mouthed my bio father and would stop my mom when she was tempted to say something in front of us kids. He followed my mom’s lead with disipline and always had her back. They woud discuss everything in private and would always present a united front. He never treated us as his step kids. He treated us as family. Over time, I thought of him as more of my father than my drunk, useless bio-dad ever was. I figured out my bio dad myself. My mom never had to say anything to me or my siblings. After witnessing several of his drunken binges we knew who ruined their marriage.Leann could have learned a lot from him. When I speak of him I refer to him as “my father” because that’s what he became and was.
I have to say I admire how many of you support and uplift those of use who are suffering from pain, ilness, loss, unemployment and sorrow. Thank you for the support and kindness. I am impressed on a daily basis for the grace and strength you all possess.
Anybody have any idea why BRAVO removed the preview clip of Adrienne admitting to Brandi that there was a letter? Checked the site today and it was mysteriously missing.Things that make you go “hmmmmmmm!
Have a happy Valentine’s day all!

    • majnon says:

Shadow, I wondered the same thing yesterday about the video missing. Maybe Adrienne’s lawyers got involved again. Bravo must be really tired of the Hoof!
Happy Valentines Day everyone and Happy Birthday Adgirl

      • BB says:

I wonder if they will edit her “admission” out of the upcoming episode? I’m getting tired of all this BS. They center the whole season around one issue and then can’t/won’t show/tell the viewers the whole story.

    • shamrockblonde says:

*hugs shadowsnomore really hard* – you were blessed to have him in your life and he was blessed to have you –

    • Powell says:

I’ve been keeping up reading here, but too behind to leave comments. Thought of you often, too.

I’m great, just officially retired. YEAH!!

My shoulders must have dropped two inches as my brain reacts to less tension in my life. I’ll still work because money is always needed, but not at the jobs I have done in the past, and not for a little while. Have to savor the official change….and clean out the closets and attic.

  16. Good Valentine Morning Everyone!

Just jumping in to say Hello while I have my coffee and read the excellent blog!
Wishing you all a beautiful day!!

And….there is a special “A Valentine Greeting” up at my place. Enjoy!

    • T-Rex says:

Hmmmm maybe to address the abysmal ratings the StinkyStankySkankerfiedGlorifiedescort(allegedly)MessofaShow, but unfortunately this loser in love, life, ratings etc. is going to be on because it’s Valentine’s day. So Ladies and Gentleman you can learn about love from someone who can’t stay or get in a relationship(yep her engagment was “allegedly” staged for the show), can’t make a match, well I think she made one, hmmm one in all these years. We hate her Mz. Andy loves her go figure. We have always questioned his taste level(allegedly)

    • designernailsdiana says:

It’s the end of the world!! I can’t stand her. YUCK!

  18. Lisa Renee…….a shout out to you if you are reading….I did catch your comment to me on yesterday’s blog and just had a chance to answer. I had not heard of the author you mentioned, but I bookmarked her site and will look through it the first moment I get. It looks wonderful! Thank you for letting me know about it.

Hope you are doing well, feeling better, and family is well too. I hope you have a delicious Valentine’s day too! Hugs Lady!!

  19. It's not reality says:

Happy Valentines Day!!So since it’s the day of love ,which reality show made you guys love reality tv? Mine was the craptacular’ Rock of love ‘ with BretMichaels , embarrassing I know.

    • Hanging head in shame with you Its Not Reality! I watched all 3 seasons. Gasp!

    • princesspindy says:

I’ve watched the first season of The Real World on MTV…..I was hooked, that was in 1992, it’s funny cuz it was based loosely on An American Family…. The Loud Family, did anyone watch that. I can remember watching it with my mom when I was in jr. high……that was 1971…yikes!!!

      • Powell says:

I know The American Family was considered the 1st reality tv show, not that it was called that then. It was called a social experiment. That family fell apart right before the public’s eyes. The parents divorced. Later the son had problems & so did the older sister. I think there were 3 kids. It was on PBS.

    • Powell says:

Haha. I watched Brett w/his bimbos every now & then. I loved reality tv back when The Real World was fun. That’s when they had crazy Puck if anyone remembers & Tammy from BB Wives when she was just a little crazy. Then it was RHOC S1 when the ladies were having real fun, Slade wasn’t slimny cause he had a career, was making money & had Joe living off of him, when Vicki was annoying but fun & not acting like she was the only one that had a job & before she treated Donn so shabbily. 🙂

  20. Cathy Connor says:

Going to date myself here I started with Real World on MTV !!! Anyone wanna admit to that one lol

    • BB says:

OMG! I was just getting ready to say Season 1 of the Real World on MTV.

    • melthehound says:

Did you watch the companion show when Kitt Hoover was on Road Rules? I’m sure he’s gone by now but the best part of RW, was the dog.

    • Boobah says:

Omg – yes! I sure did watch Real World. I especially liked the San Fran season. Remember Puck? At the time, I was both grossed out and intrigued by him. Such a strange dude. Isn’t Tammi on a reality tv show now?

      • melthehound says:

Tammi is on Basketball Wives. I’ve never watched it but Detox says it’s so.. (where is Detox? Still computerless? )

I didn’t mind Puck all that much, the one I couldn’t stand was the self righteous comic drawer (can’t remember his name) who married the asian Who was also on the show.. I do think Puck was needlessly rude to Pedro though.

        • Boobah says:

Judd and Pam! That’s right! I forgot they got married…I wonder if they are still together…I’ll have to consult with Google. Yeah, Puck was such an azz to Pedro. I remember thinking that Judd was boring.
Basketball wives…that’s it. I’ve never seen it either. And yeah…where the hell is Detox?! Prolly pc issues.

      • BB says:

I think Puck is in jail now. And remember Rachel married another MTV personality and they had a bunch of kids and he’s now in Congress I’m pretty sure. Tammi (she was on Real World LA) was/is on Basketball Wives I think. And two of the others from San Fran got married – the medical student and the writer/cartoonist or something. And who could forget Pedro 😦

        • melthehound says:

His first name was Shawn (Sean). I don’t remember his last name but he did run for Congress in Wisconsin, either federal or state, don’t remember that either. On the show, he was a law student and a competitive lumberjack. He also did one of the first challenge seasons that I think was RR vs RW,

          • melthehound says:

I THINK he was on the Boston season of RW….

            • Boobah says:

Yes I think he was on the Boston one! Thanks…I forgot his name but I remember something about him being in politics. I think he and Rachel met while doing Road Rules. The Boston RW was kinda lame. That was the first season where they had to have jobs or something like that.

              • melthehound says:

I know they met via an MTV show, it may have been one of those foreign country road rules that were made up of real world cast members. When they were still traveling in the RV. I think Boston was rather lame too.

              • Chicago Diane says:

Was the Rachel from Season 1 also the Rachel who then ended up briefly on the first shows of the View, where she was trying to win a permananet spot but became pregnant and then had a hurry up wedding , and left TV, to raise a family? She was a pretty girl but had a lot of personal conflicts- do I remember she was stronlgy conservative and attempted to parlay that into a role in a Republican race in Arizona?

        • Boobah says:

Ah, that’s right – Tammi was on the LA one not San Fran. I liked both seasons. I lost interest during the Hawaii season when Ruthie was having problems. OMG – I just remembered that (I think) Ruthie would babysit for Rachel and Sean. Weird. And wasn’t there a blonde girl who married one of the actors from Party Of Five? Their names are escaping me…

          • melthehound says:

The blonde on Hawaii was Amaya (sp).. A real whiny needy pain in the ass. I don’t know who she married though. She also did one of those mash up road rules seasons.

            • Boobah says:

Amaya! OMG – she was soooooooo annoying! lol. I must be getting confused because now that you mention her, I don’t think that’s the blonde I was thinking of. Grrrr. I’m getting all the Real World seasons mixed up! And I was an avid ‘viewer’.

              • melthehound says:

I get them mixed up too. If I name some random ones, Becky (LA), Tonia Cooly (whose claim now is that she was molested in her sleep by a toothbrush on one of the challenges (I guess she should have put some drawrs on and covered her hooha before she passed out in bed)).. There was Trishelle in LV (complete tramp on show). Paula the drunk from Miami.. Whatsername from Austin (married then divorced Danny douche bag), Julie the Mormon from New Orleans.. I’m sure there have been others, I missed a couple seasons and don’t really remember the more recent ones.

                • Boobah says:

I think there was a Becky on the very first one – NYC RW. I saw what you wrote downthread – yeah, Beth was a totl shit starter!

Okay – the blonde that I am thinkning might be the WhatsHerName that you just mentioned….

                  I’m going to google….BRB

                • chismosa says:

Trishelle shockingly is some sort of successful semi/professional poker player
What a train wreck back then

          • Powell says:

Remember the drama of Tammy getting the abortion. Had the house divided.
Remember the cookoo Blonde Beth. She did Road Rules also. Remember Kevin Powell. He’s a writer, is on CNN on panels every now & then.

            • melthehound says:

That’s who I was thinking of from LA (above) Beth, not Becky. I do remember the drama and also all the shit she stirred between David (the black guy) and Tammi when he grabbed her blanket away from her and drug her down the hall with it, play fighting.

Wasn’t Kevin on the first season? Always fighting with the southern girl, shouting in her face?

              • Sus says:

I remember Tammi yelling “It isn’t not funny” after Beth pumped her up and said it was like rape – I thought that was funny

              • Boobah says:

You beat me – I just mentioned that downthread!!

              • Powell says:

Yes Beth caused all the problems behind that. Wow you remembered that. You all are pulling the memories out of me.
I think that was Kevin fighting w/that girl. I cant remember her name.

              • Boobah says:

Yes! Kevin was always a jerk to Julie, the southern innocent girl. Erik (who then went to to VJ on MTV for a while and I think he now does exercise videos – but don’t quote me one that) was in love with Julie if I remember correctly.

        • Powell says:

Rachel. That’s who I was trying to remember to Boobah upthread. And Pedro. I cried when he died.

          • Boobah says:

I thought you might have been thinking about Rachel but I wasn’t sure and I was sitting here going through as many cast members as I could remember….like MelTh did upthread.

I was so sad when Pedro died! He was so brave to do what he did back then. Puck didn’t make his life easy either.

I’m trying to remember who married the guy from Party of Five! I swear I remember a blonde girl from RW married the cute brother from Po5!

I remember the abortion storyline…that was big stuff at the time! I also remember Tammy freaked out on David when he was rough housing with her and ripped the blanket off her…and she was naked.

Beth was sooooo annoying. On the same level as Amaya from Hawaii!

        • Sus says:

Opps, should have read through all the replies before I replied 🙂

      • Sus says:

Puck!! My husband hates reality shows. He calls all the cast members, male or female, Puck!
Rachel (the conservative Catholic virgin) ended up marrying Sean, from the Boston season. Sean is a US Congressman from Wisconsin now. They have 5 or 6 kids.

Tammi from the Los Angeles cast was on Basketball Wives. She used to be married to a basketball player but they divorced.

    • T-Rex says:

Raising Hand Real World NYC Season 1

      • BB says:

You know, most of the earlier Real World casts had goals and visions and some kind of purpose they were working towards (I say most, not all). The later casts mostly just wanted their 15 minutes of fame and were trying their hardest to extend their 15 minutes of fame. Some of them made a career out of extending their 15 minutes of fame!

        • T-Rex says:

Exactly, I stopped watching after SanFrancisco as it became more like Big Brother all about the 15 minutes and no about young folks trying to make it in the Big Bad World.

    • princesspindy says:

lol, I just commented above the same thing and then I scrolled down and read this!! lol!

      • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Ok this may be the funniest thread ever!!!
BB watching Flavor of Love??? Not only did I watch the dumb show but I watched the auditions…the funniest thing I have ever seen.
        Powell watching Charm School??
Jeff…Rock of Love??? AND Bad Girls club???
Here I thought I was alone in my crappy reality world…nice to know you were all sitting beside me waiting to see who was going to Rock Bretts Michaels world!
I remember watching the first season of Real World-it was amazing-I love it. Heather and Becky were the best. I haven’t watched in a few years b/c i cant seem to stand young people…I have turned into my father!!!!

Jeff-I think I read that admission from you on a different day-I put it in the vault for safe keeping!!!

        • Powell says:

JNNTJ I’m the queen of watching crappy shows. Yes. I admit it. 😉

          • This walk down Reality TV memory lane has been so fun! Like I said upthread….that was when Reality TV was new and fun and ridiculous…before it became scripted and ridiculous! Sigh.

          • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Powell-me too-I have been a reality junkie since me and my brother started with Real World 1. We still love reality TV-I even convinced him to watch a few HW shows but I cant talk to him about it b/c he knows NOTHING!!! He doesn’t see all the good stuff that NMD and BB and all the other bloggers post so he thinks what happens on the show is the real story….until I get a hold of him and fill him in on all of the tid-bits posted here!!!

I was just looking at this…this was a link within the article you posted above. OMG – so maybe people I forgot about! Remember when they went to London…Jacinda is an actress and Neil – didn’t he bite his own tongue off or something?

Wow – a walk down memory lane…thanks MelTH.

        • melthehound says:

I think Jacinda was a model/actress. Niel’s tongue got bit off by a fan/viewer while his band was playing a show.. Some punk rocker chick.

        • Powell says:

Oh gosh. I remember them too.

          • Boobah says:

Crazy, isn’t it Powell? Btw – Kevin’s last name is Powell…anything you want to confess??!! 😉

        • chismosa says:

Jacinda was secretly having an affair with the blonde English rocker who got the tongue bitten off, she was in a couple of movies and she’s married to the very handsome guy on the USA show Suits. The one with the moles on his face
          I remember London!

Dammit if MTV released all old seasons of this show I would buy them.

I have posted this before, when we lost our dear Lynn. Katie, I want to share it with you now. It truly has brought me comfort in the past.

      Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
      That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
      which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

      Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
      that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
      There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
      For an interval.
      Somewhere. Very near.
      Just around the corner.

      All is well.
      _ Henry Scott Holland

You were a precious gift from God above,
so much beauty, grace and love.
You touched our hearts in so many ways,
your smile so bright even on the bad days.
You heard God’s whisper calling you home,
you didn’t want to go and leave us alone.
You loved us so much, you held on tight,
till all the stregnth was gone and you could no longer fight.
He had called your name twice before,
you knew you couldn’t make him wait anymore.
So you gave your hand to God and slowly drifted away,
knowing that with our love we will be together again some day.

OFF-TOPIC – Saw an interesting story on the news this morning, it was young college grads pleading for jobs, how the job market is getting better but older, more established workers are taking all the jobs, etc. How they are all desperate and that the Government should be helping them get jobs. Okay, for about a hot second I felt sorry for them, until I listened to the rest of the story. Uhm they are whining that the Gubmint needs to find them work, nope get off Facebook, twitter, your Ipad and Iphone and actually pound the pavement or network outside those entities, most companies aren’t hiring from your FB or Twitter accounts. They were whining because egads they had to take entry level jobs with their fancy degrees, uhm yes that’s where most of us started when out of college, entry level. They were whining because double-egads they had to take jobs that they didn’t like(seriously who can honestly say their first job was one they liked, I hated mine). So triple-egads these Milleniers(not sure how to spell this but this is the term they coined) also had to take jobs way below the pay grade that they should be offered and that with older workers willing to work for the lower wages they aren’t getting any jobs. Sorry for the rant all I did was scream at the TV are you freakin kidding me?? We have hired 4 college grads in the past year only one worked out! We start everyone at the bottom run seriously you work in the warehouse, then traffic, then a few other places it’s a one year internship and you get paid that way. After a year, if you make it, they are give a position in the offices a pay upgrade and bonus package. I look at Diva trying every avenue and going on tons of interviews, and sad that she hasn’t found her job yet(well hopefully yesterday went well) and she is working her tail off looking for work and will take everything and anything for a job

    • AZGirl says:

I totally agree with you on this. Second Born graduated this December. He has been working as a line cook for 3 years to pay rent and food. Luckily a new chef working at the restaurant with him just got hired as an executive chef for a new restaurant at the casino being built in Flagstaff. She wants to bring him with her. What is he doing? He is working full time and training with her on his off hours. I can’t even get a text from him. Long 60 hour weeks so he has a chance to go with her to the new restaurant. He would even be a dishwasher for her if he had a chance to advance.

      • T-Rex says:

AZ your child should be who these shows should be interviewing why don’t they, because you child is working his tail off at a job. We had a conversation here at work at what our first jobs were out of college, one worked in a department store until they got an entry level job, I was a receptionist/secretary until I got a better job, my brother Ivy League grad, started entry level at a computer company, my cousin the lawyer started as a clerk in a very small county public defender’s office, even with a law degree, etc. SOME of these folks think you get out of college and should get their perfect job, with the perfect salary, etc. Makes me not feel sorry for folks with grown kids at home after college, guess what some college grads have to work at MickeyD’s until they can find a good job, but these folks feel that this is beneath them, sheesh

        • thedesigndiva2 says:

There are downsized, let go people with major degrees from IBM now stocking shelves at wally world.,,, I went from making bank…good bank designing houses to flipping burgers and cleaning urinals and toilets at the age of 50 plus (lol) for min wage in 09….and I did my job well and with PRIDE.. cause that’s how we were raised…. raised my two boys the same way… even today talking to PITA.. he rides a bike every day to two jobs UPHILL in NC… I am so afraid that one night I will get that call that he’s been hit…he’s had many near misses… two times landed in a ditch…. he now rides against traffic…says he wants to see their faces when they hit him,,, I have him wrapped in a protective white light…. hopefully soon they will be able to buy a car….

          • T-Rex says:

Diva EXACTLY I lost a high paying job and it took years to get back to even half my old salary, I worked in a grocery store, until I found the job, then that company went under and I wound up here at my current job in the admin dept at an entry level, because just getting your foot in the door some place is the only way to move up, just get in the door. The arrogance of this person in the interview was astonishing, it was a FOX story and I am trying to find the link.

            • Powell says:

T-Rex that’s what I’m doing now after being laid off by a greedy bank that got TARP funds from the Fed Government. It makes ne mad every time I think about it & no executive is in jail. Makes my blood boil.

      • Laineylainey says:

I admire your child, azgirl, good job! He sounds like a wonderful person.

    • BB says:

Too bad these particular kids were brought up with a such a sense of entitlement. Their parents and/or the education system failed to prepare them for the real world and as such created a bunch of whiney babies. I just passed a Lowe’s the other day. They’re hiring.

      • Powell says:

BB you’re right. They’ve failed them miserably. If they didn’t understand when they entered college, at least the last 2 yrs should have prepared them. They haven’t been watching the news or reading a paper? That’s sad.

    • melthehound says:

Should I? Or Shouldn’t I? Oh hell with it, I Will. Back when Dinosaurs roamed the earth and I graduated college, with an engineering degree, I went looking for my first professional sector job. Then, there were 3 ways to get a permanent job. 1, Cold call and send resume’s from the want ads in the help wanted section. 2, Employment agencies / head hunters / job fairs. 3, Know someone. None of those of course guaranteed a job but only a chance to apply for an interview (step one). Then, if I Got an interview, do well enough to be asked back for a second. THEN, an offer Might be made and all that follows that. There was always a minimum 90 day trial period and wait for benefits, if there were any available. If they could keep you hourly, under 40 hours, there was no benefit package required (this is the first step we see the government). During that time, one has to prove s/he can do what s/he says they can do. This is one reason companies prefer experienced people for jobs and there is a typical 3-5 year experience required, minimum.

The mentality of that article, T-Rex, I believe is a result of nanny state, everybody on the little league team getting a trophy whether they won or even participated or not. Never want to make little Janey or Johnny feel bad about themselves. It is the mentality that I see when looking at welfare (before any of you get your own drawrs in a bunch, I’m talking about those able bodied people unwilling to work but are always somehow collecting a government check. Not the people who truly need financial help) or the likes of what the Occupy Wall Street have become. I don’t want to work for mine, just hand it to me because I want it. I don’t know if that’s what you are calling BS on but it’s what I am calling BS on.

Welcome to the real, real world kiddos.

        THUMBS UP MEL……

      • T-Rex says:

WOOT WOOT. Actually it was a televised interview on FOX which made it even worse to watch this whiny, sniveling fool try to make folks see his point, all I could see was a big baby who wanted to stamp his foot and demand that trophy for no work! MTH when I was watching these whiners grow up, I knew this is what we were in for, a bunch of entitlement-babies who wouldn’t know hard work if it bit them in the butt, well I guess they would have to take their diapers off to feel the bite. This is one reason I have zero sympathy for these whining parents talking about how widdle johnny has to move back in with mommy and daddy. You know what I am an old Rex and my first apartment was a dump and I shared with two roommates, I drove a car that was 15 years old, widdleJonny can’t possibly live in an apartment without a big screen TV, full on gaming units for the TV, laundry, fridge full of food, and a car that’s only a couple of years old, nor work two jobs just to afford the dump.

        • melthehound says:

I moved back home after college until I found a job. I’m sure the folks were happy to see me gone because within a month, my bedroom was the TV room.

    • Powell says:

T-Rex are they kidding? They have 60-70 yrs to make their mark & earn money. Why do the older workers have the lower paying jobs? Because of greedy wall street causing 401K’s to lose money, people being laid off & having to basically start over again, for the ponzi schemers that took thousands of people’s retirement money and them going hack to work. These recent grads are the ones that can live rent free in most cases w/their families & stay on their health insurance until 26. These recent grads are the ones that should be the Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerbergers, Oprah Winfrey’s of their time & create new industries that creates New jobs. Oh boo hoo hoo. I feel so sorry for them. I wish I was in their shoes. They have limitless possibilities to help shape the world.

    • Laineylainey says:

      Interesting, trex. Thanks for sharing.

    • chismosa says:

Sorry not sure anyone will read this today but had to pipe up on this- unfortunately technology does have a place in hiring these days most especially in the form of LinkedIn and sites that work with social media to combine with work prospects. There was even an article I read a few weeks back saying some interviewers are even doing actual interviews via Skype/ FaceTime whatever you call all that. Gchat/ whatever!!!! Because they have such an influx of people to see, it’s quicker to weed out the resumes of some people who don’t do a 1st interview early on. Yes, on a computer. 🙍

I’d love to remain a Luddite forever but it always sneaks away ……slowly….. However I will never read books on an electronic device, that I swear on my two puppy loves. 😝

Watch TC last night. Wow that was really a cool episode. Helicopter ride to a Idiotrod camp to fix a meal for the competitors. The view from the helicopter ride was breathtaking. Brooke has a fear of flying and I can only imagine how hard that was. Quickfire was cooked over open flame. Elimination Challenge was excellent. You hear how the competitors decided to become chefs. Many started out as dishwashers.

I love Huge, Gail and Emeril. Tom and Padma bug me. Watching last week’s rerun you can see how Gail is bugged by Padma comments during the judging. Padma is so full of herself and really does not bring anything to the judges table. I don’t even know why Padma is qualified to be a judge. Katie Joel was more qualified in Season 1 IMHO.

    • BB says:

I haven’t watched this season, but Padma and Tom were really grating on my nerves the past couple of seasons. Gail is my favorite judge and I like Hugh too. Sounds like the Grand Canyon episode I covered in a past season. The scenery was gorgeous. I remember a beautiful scene of Alaska in the movie The Proposal. The scenery was the best part of that movie.

I once settled because I thought I needed a job and the boss, a woman, amongst may other horror stories, didn’t let anyone leave when a fire broke out several floors below.our office in a high rise. Needless to say we did leave but she made it very uncomfortable. The fireman were angry that we weren’t already out as the rest of the building was.

We reported her and wrote a letter to the owner but that did no good. They had a relationship at one time and she seems to have something on him that she is able to get away with anything including abuse and in this case putting people’s life in danger. This . I knew I should have found a new job sooner but hated looking so allowed myself to work in a bad environment for too long even though it was only a few months. . The fire was my wake-up call and I left shortly after that.

I went on to find a job that I was so happy in and respected. You will too!!!

Diva, I’m so sorry about this. It sounds like you might have dodged a bullet though- but I’m sure that doesn’t make you feel any better. Something will come – you’re too good for it not to.

          • Shiny says:

mr ford is right. Travel was too much at night, and if someone can’t keep his word about money for travel, you know he’d sleaze his way to screw you out of other pay, too. We’ll all take up a thought – DIVA needs a job with a great boss…right now, Powers that Be.

          • nyc mama says:

Oh Diva, I understand. I really do. . I know It will happen. Just keep staying positive as hard as it is. I have been in your position so I can really empathize, I just know you will find something that won’t make you miserable. Desperation isn’t good when looking for any relationship — mates or jobs.

I too am looking for a new job right now which is why I have time to post and I prepared for it, wanting to do something other than what I was currently doing, so not I’m not feeling stressed…yet. But I have.
            Hugs to you!!

          • Catseye says:

I’m so sorry to hear about that prospective job turning out like this. I know the right one is just around the corner. Everyone is right, just stay positive. (And you know, driving home at that hour is rather dangerous, I did it myself for years. Plus, with being a mgr and all, you would probably be lucky to get out of there on time and be exhausted to boot).

            • thanks for all the pep talks kids… I am trying hard to stay focused and positive…but dammmmnnn,,, it’s hard to do… and depressing as hell to boot….I just feel so freaking useless every day sitting here …..
so maybe tomorrow I will get an email about the OTHER job from tonite or a phone call…
If all else fails..I am going to make a sandwich board and start walking the streets here advertising,,,maybe someone would be inclined to call a tv news crew and I could be seen…hahahahahahaha
now to get my creative mind going and come up with a snappy slogan….
              hmmm

I hate Padma. Background and general gossip on her is that she is super super nasty in real life. Totally conceited.

She actually did have some sort of food background I forget what — but Billy Joel’s little nobody of a wife that he met in a hotel— she has zilch in the form of formal food training. (Less so than Padma’s). She got that job, like all the others she got at the time, based on who she was married to.
She was a terrible speaker and had no presence IMHO

I actually have up TC this season. It just didnt seem appealing to me for some reason. My 1st time! Lol

      • pat says:

I’ve heard the same stuff re Padma. And it was telling when in one of the first seasons, when they interviewed all the chefs together in the post-competition show, one of the questions was “how many of you think Padma doesn’t like you?” and almost every chef raised their hand. She’s a snob. She’s made a concerted effort since then to appear nice on the show. Sidebar: she has the most wide-set eyes I’ve ever seen.

        • chismosa says:

Kate Hudson and Mike from Shahs’ girlfriend have the widest eyes I’ve ever seen too ! Lol.

Thanks for that tidbit about the chefs. It’s so obvious. Plus her super contentious child custody issues with the father of her daughter (who the daughter looks EXACTLY like!)

    • vilzvet says:

I just received the book. Sooooo surprised there are NO photos. Who wants to bet that was an Eddie directive, that NO photos of her boys be published? I was really looking forward to seeing pictures, but zippo.

    • pat says:

Woot woot!!! I read it on Kindle. Highly recommend. It’s both side-splitting funny, and heartbreakingly sad. Told in B’s totally honest, self-depricating way. Lotsa dirt on the cheaters. AND some Bravo & BH Houswives insider scoop. I just sent one to my sister’s Kindle, as she’s going thru a divorce. Last time I checked amazon.com, Brandi’s reviews were averaging 5 stars, and she’s already at 199 reviews. That’s double the number of reviews Kyle’s book has. And Andy Cohen’s book has 205 reviews.

      • majnon says:

I got the book on Tuesday and read it and read it again yesterday. Maybe I should buy a new one each time I want to read it to help out Brandi lol

OT: I was actually looking into a Alaskan cruise after watch TC this season. I am so afraid of being out in open water and not seeing shoreline. But Alaskan cruises are different. So….for that last 3 days I have following this nightmare aboard Carnival Cruiseline. I cannot even imagine how horrible this situation is. Latest is that one of the tow lines broke and the passengers are stuck for another night. I swear I would go nuts. I cannot figure out why they allow ships as massive as this with no way to tow them back to shore? What about generators to keep water and toilet running?
I hope these poor people make it home safely. Sorry, no cruises for me.

    • majnon says:

AZGirl, I have never been on a cruise, but my good friends have taken two. The first on Carnival (they weren’t too impressed), the second on Celebrity. They will definitely do Celebrity again. They weren’t to Alaska tho

    • Powell says:

      They get:
      $500
      Full refund
      Credit towards another cruise- Really
      And 1 or 2 more things I can’t remember.
They get to the dock 9-12am Central time.
They have buses waiting for them, hotel rooms reserved, buses that will take people to their cars.
Ok. Why didn’t they get helicopters to drop them food/water?

    • Vegas Chick says:

My friend’s daughter is on that ship. She is celebrating her 40th birthday and overcoming a ton of incredibly difficult medical issues. Facebook posts say it’s really scary. Where the hell is the Navy or some kind of rescue operation?

  34. Powell says:

It’s not reality. Thks for the reality tv question today. That was so much fun. Everyone had me remembering people & situations I had forgotten. 🙂

    • Powell says:

I love Baby. She saved her 2legged & 4legged family. She is a hero & is so cute.

      • Nancy says:

Pit Bulls are very good family dogs. I wanted to slap Kyle when she made that comment to Kim about her new Pit Bull puppy. She needs to watch the show Pit Boss.
NO DOG IS BORN MEAN! It’s the humans that do that to them. Ok rant over.

        • Powell says:

I like the show Pitbulls. I haven’t watched in a while. I love, all kinds of dogs. It’s not the breed. It’s the owners, trainers that make them what they are. Here in MD, I think its Montgomery County they are trying to make it illegal to own a Rottweiler or Pitbull. I can’t remember which. They’re trying to say they are inherently mean. That’s not right. When I was growing up a neighbor across the street from my aunt had a Chihuahua. The meanest little dog I have ever seen. A neighbor 3 doors Down from my aunt had a German Shepherd that was so mean she killed her pups every time she had a liter & she terrorized the neighborhood. She would get out of her chains & we would know it cause the word would spread & us kids would stay in the house until her owner could get her & chain her back up. One of my childhood friends was the owners daughter & she was afraid of her own dog. Another neighbor around the corner had a German Shepherd & he was the sweetest dog. My point is its not the breed but how the owner trains them & treats them.

        • nyc mama says:

I felt the same way. I raised pitbulls and my fear is that dog is going to wind up in the pound because Kim doesnt have the character to raise it properly. She had a golden retreiver before this. NOT the same thing. My only comfort is knowing that she loves the dog and if necessary perhaps will get help instead of getting rid of the dog. I wish her nephew got her a better matching breed but those Hilton offspring don’t seem to be all that bright so I guess in this case it is the thought that counts.

          • Catseye says:

As intoxicated as she seemed on the show before last, I doubt that she even bothers to get up and let the poor pup outside to pee.

          • chismosa says:

Hate to break it to you but I think psycho GG on Shahs has a pitbull. Talk about mismatch!!!!

Ps I am a HUGE dog advocate and to be honest I don’t mean to sound judgmental or racially insensitive but the areas that want to block the ownership of these particular dogs are areas where there is an underlying either dog-abuse/ dog-fighting / and /or dog-mistreatment mentality going on. I think it’s glorified, for instance, here in certain very shady unsafe areas of manhattan and other boroughs of NYC, to own these types of dogs, almost as “cred”. I know in Miami it’s illegal to own a pitbull.
Changes have to be made and it starts with the people who are allowed to OWN OTHER animals. Therein lies the issue, only later on will society ever try to comprehend that the breed itself is not inherently bad (except for some bad seeds of course). The “culture” of gangs and owning these particular breeds needs to change first.

In fact I feel safer and more at peace knowing no one is owning these dogs and treating them badly and instead those dogs can hopefully find love and homes in other states where maybe the problem is not so prevalent. JMho

(((KT))) (((Diva))) Diva have you ever thought about Medical Billing? It pays well.

I knew someone who did medical billing out of her home and loved it.

    • KTinCT says:

Thanks for the hugs, Nancy, can use all I can get lately….. And I have a pit bull rescue and she is a big baby and I love her with all my heart. When I go visit my parents, they have cats and my pit bull starts to whimper and either Scott or I have to carry our pit bull past my parents cats. She is awesome with my daughter (Maggie literally mounts her like a horse) and I wouldn’t trade her for anything. She is getting on in her years, 12 yrs old now, so grey in her snout and that makes me so sad….. But she is an awesome companion that I wouldn’t trade for anything, and my daughter loves her so much…

  36. trudie says:

OT – did anyone watch Next Great Baker, and if you did, what did you think of Gretel Ann’s shenanigans?

    • thedesigndiva2 says:

trudie..i watched it till they were in vegas..then kinda forgot about it…lol …what did i miss

      • trudie says:

It came down to Jen, Gretel Ann and Ashley. They had to make a bunch of bakery items and sell them at the Venetian. Gretel Ann hid all the cookie sheets and turned the oven temperature up on the other’s ovens. She said they didn’t understand it was a competition and you have to do anything to win. Jen lost that challenge, so she was out. Final two were Ashley and GA. Fortunately, GA did not win.

    • mrspeabody says:

I was so happy when she didn’t win, I wanted Jen to win but since she didn’t I’m glad Ashley did.. When Gretel Ann tried to work against her team that time she had immunity did it for me. I don’t like sneaky people and that is how I see her. I would never trust her working for me. Glad she lost

      • trudie says:

I honestly don’t know how someone can go on tv and justify that behavior. Her family must be so embarrassed. I also can’t stand it when someone feels they deserve it more than the other competitors. They all feel they deserve it or they wouldn’t be there. GA also showed what a brat she was in her final talking head.

    • vilzvet says:

Oh that’s too bad for her…but I certainly bought it and I’m sure many viewers who use Amazon will too. Not many people go to bookstores nowadays, around here a few have closed as well.

I posted a link of pictures of Brandi’s kids for you above.

        • vilzvet says:

Oh thanks VV, I have seen her cute kids in pap shots but I was hoping to see childhood pics of Brandi and some candid family photos from when they were married. I have seen their wedding photos, beautiful.

        • pat says:

The pics with Leann and Eddie, sitting in their fancy little folding chairs with umbrella, plopped down right next to Brandi, sitting on a blanket, make my stomach turn. And there are also pics out there from another soccer game, when Leann sat down ON Brandi’s blanket, much to Brandi’s surprise (read her comments about it after), and then, right on cue, a pap starts snapping pics of them. You can see Eddie lurking right behind them. Those two (E and R) are demented.

I still watch many, but am enjoying ones with some area of skill involved (cooking, design, fashion, art, etc).
((((Katie))) for your loss, and (((Diva))) for your job hunting challenges.
I hope Kyle and Adrienne are paying attention to the overwhelming disgust expressed by the viewers (NOT fans,A). They are heading down the JZ path, and we all know where that ends… irrelevance!
I bought Brandi’s book on Kindle… Hope to read it soon. Sounds like a fun read. I just wanted to support her in a tangible way. Living well will be her best revenge!
I’m glad Paul is doing well post-Adrienne. I always thought she was brutally indifferent towards him.
Mel, based on your recap I will watch this season of Survivor. I love your style of writing.
In fact, all of you who recap are doing an incredible job! It was hard, I imagine, to keep the spirit of the blog alive after Lynn’s passing, but you’ve all done a tremendous job that really honors her memory. NMD, you are a special lady!

Diva, I was thinking–do you ever get on ebay? They have a section of classifieds on the site and one category is jobs, with subcategories for types of jobs. On the website it is the lower third of the page, under ebay companies, there is a link to ebay classifieds and it’ll take you to a page to enter your zip code, then another page of different classified listings. Hope this helps.

    • california35 says:

i have read that whatever age the person sttted with their addiction, is the age people stay mentally. either adiction or some kind of abuse, but lets jusy stay in addiction for now.
poor Kim, but yes she does have a younger/immature mentality.

    • Catseye says:

I have a hard time believing that she didn’t need any pain meds (& that the “dog hit her in the nose.”) I’ve read a few stories of women taking self-defense courses and they are always told to aim for the nose to disable the assailant. It is the most sensitive part of anyone’s face. Plus, she seemed high as a kite last time she was on.

    • Orson says:

I can hardly believe that I’m semi-definding Kim, but during the procedure, her doctor did mention she had a deviated septum. That’s why I had my rhinoplasty many years ago. The doctor and I never discussed what I wanted my new nose to look like afterwards, I just wanted to be able to breath through the thing. I think, as it turned out, fixing the septum took out a vertical curve on my nose and maybe even a bump, but that just happened.

And at one point during my recovery, I was napping on my sofa, somehow became aware of the splint on my nose, and in a semi-barely awake state, tried to brush whatever it was off my nose. At which time I became fully awake. So I can see an enthusiatic puppy playfully swatting a nose and causing a lot of pain.

Of course, let’s remember Kim has a super light hair trigger on her “blowing off an invitation/party/appointment/commitment” gun. Though with all the booze that usually flows at housewife affairs, it would probably be wise of her to miss some parties. She had no way of knowing that Lisa (good hostess that she tries to be) had told her bartenders to be prepared to make some non-alcoholic beverages for one of her guests.
