Let’s Talk about Vicki Gunvalson’s Love Tank and Other Gossip by NoMoreDrama
With Real Housewives of Orange County set to air April 1 (no joke), the ladies are starting to make the tabloids with some pre-show leaks to stir up interest. First up is Vicki Gunvalson. The Examiner is reporting that her boo – Brooks Ayers – is a cheater cheater – and is carrying on with other women while wooing Vicki. Rumors are he’s juggling up to three other women, and he’s still married. But don’t worry about Vickster. She claims they were never serious anyway and are taking a break. I very much hope she’s telling the truth because she deserves better. No. I really mean that.
Meanwhile Tamra Barney had yet another Bachelorette party in New York and JillnonotthatJill’s sister went. Jill filled us in on the event in yesterday’s comments. I was sort of under the impression that Tamra’s “boyfriend” Eddie was just a showmance – but she seems determined to go through with the marriage so maybe it’s real. Good luck Eddie. She can be a little mean.
UhOh, someone’s jelly. Maybe a whole lot of someone’s according to RadarOnline. Of course we’ve got to consider the source – but the magazine is reporting that Heather Dubrow and Gretchen Rossi also lobbied to get on Dancing with the Stars and are upset that Lisa Vanderpump broke the housewife ceiling and made it on the show. The ladies are saying that’s not true. If Kim and Kyle Richards could go on that horrendous diving show, I’m sure all of the ladies are shopping around for other gigs to extend their fifteen minutes. If anything, they should be glad Lisa has broken through – which should make it easier for other housewives. I’m not sure what the big deal is. No one knows half the people on Dancing with the *cough* stars anyway at the beginning of the season.

Welcome back Castaways. Week three of the broadcast. Here we go.. Last week, Allie, one of the P4 was sent packing leaving that particular alliance down one girl and re-dubbed the P3 (here). Shamar was invited to join Sherri’s alliance to remain safe. Matt the beard went with Sherri’s side to get rid of Allie even though he swore he was voting for Shamar. Reynold Told Shamar how he would be voting, then he found the immunity idol. THEN the dumbass showed it at tribal council. I wondered why Sherri or anyone else for that matter would want to keep that obnoxious asshole around but it was pointed out to me, that it may be good game play to take the one everyone hates the most, to the end. Sherri said that Shamar was her ‘Phillip’, meaning, Pinky in his original season. All caught up?
Back at camp… You guessed it, Shamar is being a major dick, barking at everyone about how they voted. His feelings are hurt it seems (my impression) and he’s trying to buffalo everyone into never writing his name again (sure fire way to make Me write it but I’m not there). The following day, Reynold and Eddie (P3) are talking, got their heads chopped off at council.. Blindsided. They thought everyone was on board for sending Shamar home, I guess that plan backfired. Sherri is coaching Shamar on how to deal with these two telling him they are going to try and annoy him in every way possible. I don’t think they have to work that hard at it. He is both annoying and easily annoyed. TH Sherri says she owns several franchises and just about everyone who works for her is under 24. So, she’s use to dealing with snotty teenaged brat attitude and that is what she likens Shamar to with his attitude. She believes that is the mindset he comes from. TH Shamar is questioning how willing he is going to be to put up with everyone coming at him and if the million is worth it. It almost sounds as if he’s considering quitting because he knows he’s not welcome (I doubt that will happen though). Has anyone ever quit survivor?
Over at the Bikal camp, Pinky, who has found his swim trunks, is talking about how well in shape he is at 54. He then tells us about his basketball skills (as if anyone gives a shit) playing guys half his age and twice his height.. Whatever… At the cooking pot, TH Corrine is talking about alliances, Pinky and Andrea have teamed up, Cochran and Dawn have teamed up, She and Malcom have teamed up. Next thing we see is the two of them looking for the hidden idol. Well, guess what kiddies… They really should do a better job of hiding these things, Malcom finds it again, and once again, someone knows about it from the start. He says he would have preferred to find it alone but I’m sure he’s thinking back to the trust that he and Denise had through most of the game. Back at camp, Pinky has some sort of dome on his head that he says traps the air and circulates it around and cools the him off. Sort of makes sense, I guess.. He invites Cochran “The Specialist” to try it, he does.. TH Cochran says that back home, every Wednesday at 8 o’clock, he could turn on Survivor and enjoy the show. On the show, every day is like Wednesday a 8 because not only is he watching it, he’s playing the game. He then mentions the Freudian picnic of the beautiful women running around in their underwear..
Corrine is talking to Malcom about the idol (separated from the rest of the camp chatting is never a good thing and both of them should know this).. This doesn’t go unnoticed by the others of course. I think this Idol pact with her is going to end badly. One thing Denise never did, is talk about him having an idol. It was Lisa who outed him on that. Andrea and Cochran are talking, she wants to get rid of Corrine. She approaches Pinky about it tells him she thinks she can get Brandon on board. She then talks to Brandon (with Cochran), he Seems on board. TH Brandon says he still has the voice in his head telling him to trust no one because he’s been done like this before. Until now, he knows he’s the odd man out and lowest on the totem pole. I think he’s been coached by his uncle who thought he played a piss poor game last time around. He further says he’ll give it his all in the game but if it isn’t good enough for them and they vote him out (or something like that), there will be hell to pay in camp.
Over at Gota camp, Shamar and some others are in the shelter and he’s telling them losing his happiness isn’t worth the million. Laura tries to be nice (maybe she really is, though she’s one who wants him gone), tell him she would be sad to see him go. He brushes that off as BS and then goes into his Iraq experiences. Says he saw things, did things, that basically messed him up for a long time and it took a long time for him to like himself again (I am writing this as I watch and I’m not going to bust his balls about this.. I’ve never been in that situation and can’t imagine what it must have been like for him or any of the rest.. I respect their efforts, thank them for it but at the same time, am glad I didn’t have to endure that. I wish none of them did either. So, if he stays in the game, his game play is fair for snark and bashing but not his military experience. I don’t know at this point what he’s going to do). Sherri and a couple others try to convince him that if he quits, he will regret it. Not only that but if he does and they lose the immunity challenge, they will be down two, not just one. He says he appreciates their loyalty to him and agrees to stick it out a few more days to help them out.. Reynold says he had his hopes up for a couple minutes (who should be worried about his own dumb ass) but alas, Shamar is still there. He believes Shamar just played them with the loyalty card. We’ll see…
Immunity / Reward Challenge
Day 7.. The object of this game is for the teams to race out into the water to the bamboo cages. Climb over and into them where they will find a heavy trunk. They will have to untie the door to the cage (under water) and then drag the trunk back to the beach. Once there they have to use a rope with a ring to grab a hook on those planks and pull them together to make one long slide. After that’s done, they have to slide the trunk along the slide to the finish line. First one to do that, wins immunity and reward. They are playing for comfort. Chairs, pillows, tarp, that sort of stuff.
Ready Set Go! All contestants are playing here. There are some people who are strong swimmers, and people who are not. Laura and Cochran among the latter group. They cannot start on the knots or dragging the chest until ALL team members are inside the cage. I hope a couple of the stronger ones stay on the outside to help the weaker ones get up and over the top of the cage wall.. Reynold goes back to help drag Laura to the cage. Faves are all inside first followed quickly by the Fans. The Fans get through their door first and begin dragging the chest.. This is some deep water kids.. As the fans begin moving their chest, the faves finally get the door open. Somebody has contacts, and needs the goggles (I think that was Pinky who said that earlier).. The fans are working well together dragging (or rather floating) the chest back to the beach. Faves struggle a bit but catch up once the fans reach the beach. Now they have to get it to and up on the track so they can slide it along. Both teams get it done about the same time and now it’s time to slide the track pieces in place.
They must pull 3 sections of track into place and it takes most of the team members to pull them once the hook is hooked. First are Malcom and Reynold. Renold gets his first and Pinky takes over for Malcom and gets the first one. They then go to the second one, Eddie vs Malcom again.. Malcom hooks it first and they move on to the third section.. Shamar is round 2 and gets the hook hooked and they pull their second section into place. On the third section, Brandon and Eddie.. After several attempts, Brandon hooks the third piece first. Eddie is too nervous for this I think.. As he is still attempting a ringer, Faves push the crate to the end and lift it up on to the finish platform to win immunity and reward (I guess Corrine is safe tonight and so is Brandon.. He won’t be peeing in the rice and burning the shelter, tonight).
Let the backstabbing begin. Which of the faves is going home tonight? Will the P3 become the P2? Let’s find out… I was wrong about the contacts / goggles thing, it was Shamar.. Reynold starts talking to him about it (they are all in a group talking about the challenge at this point), Shamar in so many words tells him to go to hell, just like last week. Reynold and Eddie are talking about how immature Shamar is and how he has got to go but not everyone may be on board for that. Then we see Laura throwing herself under the bus for not being able to swim out to the cage. She had to be helped. I’m going to note here, that it was Eddie who couldn’t hook the hook. Just sayin. Laura is of course still gunning for the P3 and says in her TH, that Hope needs to go next (the other woman on that alliance). Right now, they need Reynold and Eddie around to win challenges. Really? I guess one of them helps but as noted, the other failed miserably on this day. Matt the beard seems to agree. The plan the three of them (Sherri is one of them), is to split the vote to flush out the idol. 3 for Hope, 3 for Eddie.. Sherri tells Shamar this plan, boys vote for Eddie, girls vote for Hope.. Shamar then says that leaves 3 votes for him. 3 way tie. That’s what he thinks… I’m thinking they are trying to force a rock vote (I hope this happens), by forcing Reynold to play the idol for one of his P3 alliance or even himself. Then if it is a 3 way tie, the vote is who to get rid of from the remaining two. I’m not quite sure how this will ensure that Hope goes home, I think they should just give her the boot if that’s what they want to have happen. (I do a lot of thinking, don’t I? I’m usually wrong too). Sherri just hopes that Shamar keeps his mouth shut.
What do we see next? Shamar and Hope talking at the beach as he’s joking about her being in the same spot he’s been in, likely to be voted out. He would rather get rid of Reynold but he has that necklace. TH Hope agrees, she’s concerned for her spot…. He even tells her that He is not going to vote for her which, according to the plan, is true. His game with telling her all this, is to throw a wrench into the main plan by suggesting that Hope vote for one of the P3, Eddie. Now, Hope tells Julie what just happened, Julie tells Sherri (the one who hoped Shamar could keep his mouth shut). Laura, still worried about her poor performance, is convinced if it isn’t Hope, then it’s her. Since Shamar cannot be trusted, she approaches Reynold and tell him that P3 plus her and Julia, boom, Shamar is gone. He’s on board with that idea. Got all that? I wonder what’s going to happen to Sherri’s game if she loses her Phillip?
Off to council we go.. Let the probsting begin… He first asks Reynold about any ‘fallout’ from the last council. He says there was a lot of it with Shamar bellowing at everyone and could be heard from a kilometer away. Shamar says it wasn’t a km because he was right next to him and Reynold was upset that his plan (to get rid of Shamar) failed. Shamar is the scapegoat for everyone. Okay.. Those of us who have watched have seen Shamar, since he stepped off the boat, being as lazy as possible, doing next to nothing (I don’t know if that is editing or not), barking at everyone, all the while saying to the cameras, he doesn’t want to be the angry black man.. He says he wants to get along with everyone but no one wants to get along with him. Nothing he does is wrong, in his mind. Well, I disagree with him. Is it a game with him or is he really that much of a dick? The bottom line with this guy, as I see it, is he doesn’t see or doesn’t want to recognize how he comes across to others. I’ve had to learn that lesson myself and I still sometimes forget it. Probsting continues and it’s still about Shamar… Sherri says she gets why he’s the way he is with people. Once they cross him there is no coming back. Reynold and Eddie aren’t allowed to talk to him. Let’s not forget what Probst said last week about working together to get to the end, Shamar.. Time to vote… Eddie and Shamar vote for each other.. naturally.. All votes in, Probst asks for the idol. Reynold does not play it for Hope or himself and Eddie for that matter. Whose plan is the one implemented? Let’s see.
Holy Shitballs! I’ve always wanted to see this.. 3 way tie. Hope, Shamar, Eddie (looks like they all stuck to Sherri’s plan but the idol didn’t get played).. I always heard the term rock vote.. Maybe that was from some other show, I don’t know. The drill is, Re-vote. They can only vote for one of the three and those three have no vote. So now it comes down to 6 votes rather than 9.
Alas, in the end, Hope should have listened to Shamar because she wound up with the losing end of the stick. The P3 becomes P2. I wonder if they will cuddle and play grab ass as the P4 did.. Sherri couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Sans the idol being played, exactly as she predicted it would happen. Frankly, I’m disappointed..
See you next week..

Top Chef Seattle Finale by SugarMagnolia
Two Chefs remain. One challenge stands between them and the prize. Only one will go home as the winner of Top Chef. Will it be Brooke or Kristen?
Padma is introducing them in a very “Iron Chef” environment. She is gorgeous, as always, but the light is shining on our chefs. We know the prizes at hand. It is time for 2 women to battle for the title. Tom appears, gives the ladies 3 hours, their teams, and time….starts….NOW.
It’s time to throw down. Each have to prove themselves. First course,
Chicken liver mouse with friesee, mustard. prune, hazelnuts and pumpernickel
Crispy pig ear and chicory salad, six minute egg, apricot egg and candied kumquots.
Judges votes.-Hugh/ Kristen, Gail/Kristen, Emeril/Kristen And Kristen wins Round 1!.
Kristen and Brooke. I have mad love for Brooke–she has given up so much for her little and she is a BEAST in the kitchen. I also have mad love for Kristen. She is classicly trained, and puts everything, heart and soul, on a plate
The judges are gathered, and Gail asks Stephanie Izzard to pass on her tiara. Steph is ready, and feels it’s about time.
Brooke did an amazing dish, but Kristen’s was better. 2 more rounds for these talented ladies to take it. Back to the kitchen. We meet Brooke’s mother, who said that instead of watching cartoons, she watched the “Galopping Gourmet”. ***That is so true to my life, because my middle daughter wants to be a chef. She loves to cook, bake, chop mis en place, even understands the process of tempering eggs…***In the audience, lots of former cheftestants. Michael Voltaggio is a guest, and his is chomping at the bit to be down there with them. He is still hot!
Brooke–seared scallop with salt cod puree, speck, black currants and mustard seed vinaigrette (judges and former TC winners loved it. She did a great job of balancing her flavors, as usual, and the scallop was perfectly cooked)
Kristen-Citrus and lavender cured scallop with bitter orange, meyer lemon and apple (Tom expected nothing less from her, and she nailed it. Flavors were simple and not complicated, and she executed it perfectly.)
***after 2 dishes of scallops, I keep hearing Fabio in my head saying “this is top chef, not top scallop!” But, I digress…****
results for Round 2–Gail/Brooke, Emeril/Brooke, Tom/Kristen , Hugh/Brooke. And Brooke takes round 2!!!
It’s now 1-1. The playing field is leveled with a win for both ladies.
If we thought we had a throw down in the beginning, it’s on a whole new level now.
Kristen knows that Brooke has taken round 2, and she wants to highlight flavor profiles. She’s got Sheldon as her sous, and he layers flavor on top of flavors. Brooke wants to redeem herself from the fried chicken challenge, so she is going that direction. Her sous is CJ, **one of my favorites, and whose food I have had the pleasure of tasting.***
They give us a breakdown of the season, and Brooke knew that Kristen would be the one to beat. From challenge to challenge, these ladies owned this season. We get to see more of Kristen’s life. She is Korean, and was adopted by a caucasion family when she was 4 months old. She desires to see a reflection of herself and her heritage. She puts it on a plate. That kinda throws me for a loop, because she mostly does French classical. Her drive, her ambition, and dedication is what makes me, and the viewing audience root for her.
And now, they have one more plate to serve that will win them the title of TC. The pressure of serving a $125k plate must be mind blowing. However, these ladies are cool cucumbers; they work in kitchens on the daily, and run them. Pressure is not a new concept, and they are more than prepared. ***I want them both to win! I am writing as I watch, so I don’t know who has won yet. Mad love and respect to both of them!*** We meet Kristen’s family, and they are over the moon happy for her. Seeing her PYKAG was tough, but, they knew she would redeem herself, as she did, in the LCK. Brooke is confident in her flavors.
Brooke–vaduvan fried chicken with sumac yogurt tahini and pickled kohlrab fattoush (excellent. Why chicken wings? Brooke wanted to redeem herself with chicken on the bone. Tom loves it, but didn’t understand her salad)
Kristen-celery root puree with bone marrow, mushrooms, bitter greens and radishes (Emeril loves it. Tom is curious why she stewed the mushrooms. Kristen said she wanted the bone marrow to be the star and her choice was by design.)
Padma, you are even and now it is time to see who wins R3.
Emeril/Kristen Tom/Kristen Padma/Kristen And Kristen wins round 3!
TH’s from past winners. Voltaggio was speechless! Izzard said,”try and make a dish that doesn’t suck.” Advice, TC style!
Red Snapper is on the menu. **totes not my favorite, but let’s see what the ladies do with it.** One more vignette of the last 9 season winners. Good times! The previous 9 winners have gone on to open restaurants, win James Beard awards, honored by Food and Wine magazine, etc…TC has opened many doors for them.
Brooke-braised pork cheek and red snapper with collard green slaw and sorrel puree (fish is cooked perfectly. pork cheek was a fantastic compliment. Sorrels were a great touch)
Kristen–red snapper with leeks, little gem lettuce, tarragon, uni and shellfish nage (snapper perfectly cooked, the gem was wonderful, and the texture was spot-on. The leeks were a bit stringey in Gails opinion. Hugh disagreed)
They each get one last word with the judges. Kristen feels like she never left, because she has been competing since PYKAG. Brooke always knew it would be between she and Kristen. Another commercial break before we get our winner….
Gail/Kristen Emeril/Kristen Tom?????–you are the deciding vote. His vote will determine our new Top Chef. And Tom votes Kristen!
Kristen, you are the new TOP CHEF!!! Yay!!! Brooke was not asked to PYKAG..maybe foreshadowing? We shall see!
And there you have it, Kristen is our second lady chef winner! It has been my pleasure to write these recaps every week. Seeing the Great Pacific Northwest showcased came in a close second. Such talented Chefs, a gorgeous environment, and passion. It’s the passion of these talented men and women that have made us tune in for 10 seasons. We root for them, we get attached to them, and we want them to succeed through this process, win or lose. Congratulations Kristen AND Brooke. Both of you have cooked your asses off this season, and you are both winners. Thanks for reading Lynnfam! I will see you for S11! mwah!
