Gossip Roundup by NoMoreDrama

Why in the world would Adrienne Maloof open a restaurant and insult Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant all in one breath?  First of all, does she even eat?  Second of all, her brand is NOT KNOWING HOW TO COOK.  Bye, bye, Ms. Maloof.  Hopefully now that you’re off the show we won’t have to hear any more about you.

And then in the Jersey side of the country, JohnnytheGreek has deleted all of his tweets and given himself a fresh start on twitter.  Apparently there were some old tweets that he was worried about.  Oh lordy, does anyone even care?  His tweet:  “Ladies & Gents, welcome to my new Twitter. I’ve decided to start fresh. Nothing to hide, but too many crazies around that scroll years back.”

We will have our own recap of It’s a Brad, Brad World coming tomorrow, but Brad just sent me a recap of the show (okay he sent it to anyone signed up to receive his newsletter, but I’d like to think we have a special connection, both being Canadian and all). Click here to read it. It’s fulll of fashiondelish photos.

And finally we have a new blogger taking on the Rachel Zoe Project.  Aside from being mesmerized by Rodger’s long hair, I enjoyed Rachel’s return to Bravo.

Brad was on WWHL last night after his show.  The big reveal:

Rachel Zoe Project by Amy

Welcome back to the hectic world of Rachel Zoe! From her opening monologue we find out that Jeremiah is gone and that Mandana is the vice president of “everything” and Rachel doesn’t know what she would do without her. Rachel comments that she has been spending a lot of time designing now as well as styling.

The season begins at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City. Rachel is nervous because she is technically a “baby fashion designer” and is having her first proper runway show at Lincoln Center. She asks Rodger not to fight with her this week. At her studio, Mandana’s job is taking on as much of Rachel’s role as she can since Rachel is so busy. Rachel arrives and they have 3 days left for the show. Rachel says that she has received emails from prominent fashion people saying that they are excited for her show. She says that she needs people to pay attention to details. Mandana, Rodger, and Rachel agree that she still needs most things for the show (like models, hair and makeup, music). Rachel is mostly focused on complete looks. Mandana and Rodger fight like brother and sister. Rachel’s vision for her collection is modern, cool, effortless, and fabulous. She says that it is inspired by Jane Birkin, and has a tomboy cool feel. She and Rodger talk about how it is critical to have “hits” every year to stay relevant. Rodger is concerned about commercial viability of the collection but Rachel considers his opinions on this not relevant because when she met him he was wearing Birkenstocks. Mandana is feeling very overwhelmed.

rachel-zoe-project-season-5-gallery-episode-501-03Skyler arrives, and he is so freakin adorable. Rachel calls him “magical” and thinks he’s weird because he goes around hugging everyone. After he spends some time in the studio he is taken away by his nanny Rusty.  Rachel says she always has Sky and Rodger time no matter how busy she gets. Mandana asks about flowers, Rachel says “not girly, not bridal” but all white. Mandana is worried about not going over budget. Rachel has to leave to attend a show because she is still a stylist.

Marchesa Show: Rachel goes for red carpet looks. She sees a lot of youthful, short dresses and gets a romantic, slightly medieval vibe. Rachel considers her collection more of an everyday wearable rather than special event.

rachel-zoe-project-season-5-gallery-episode-501-10The next day we find that Skyler didn’t sleep well that night. Rodger reads a news story about Rachel’s collection claiming the label is not doing well, which is completely inaccurate. Rodger advises Rachel to not give a comment, which Rachel sees as admitting guilt. While in the car Rachel laments the fact that she hasn’t gone on a major shopping spree in a while. Rodger disagrees and says that Rachel buys a ton of stuff for Skyler. She disagrees and tries to compare buying herself a Burberry jacket (which is more expensive) than buying him the same, to which Rodger says that buying him Burberry is ridiculous.

Prabal Gurung Show: Rachel sees Andy Cohen, says hi, and ignores Brad who is with him. She says that Prabal is really a downtown girl sort of collection and comments that he stands by his vision. She meets Prabal after the show and tells him how great it was.

Back at her studio, Rachel says that she can completely separate herself as a designer from herself as a stylist. They are deciding about under 40 looks for the show. Mandana wants Rachel to finalize looks, not continue to change looks. Rachel wants to put new things on the runway, like making a leather jacket short sleeve (they cut it right there!). Mandana wants to eat chocolate but Rachel monitors what she eats because she thinks that Mandana’s food choices are making her ulcer worse. Mandana thinks that the fashion show is making her ulcer worse. Rodger advises the team about how to handle the negative news article; he says to not comment and not respond. Rachel wants everyone to know that the things in the article are not true.

Rodger meets with his friends Neil and Daryl and talks about Skyler. He complains that Rachel won’t let him dress Skyler in t-shirts. They joke that Skyler dresses very feminine. With 1 day left until her show, Rachel is freaking out about details such as hats, and the fact that she needs to go over bags. Kelsey discusses the floral wall with Mandana. The majority of the budget has been spent on a white orchid wall which no one is sure Rachel will like. Rachel wants it to look like strands of hippie beads and doesn’t see why it should be so difficult. Rachel’s sister, Pam, shows up along with her father, Ron. Rachel is so stressed she’s worried she’ll be snippy with them. Rachel pictures the models with fringe bangs.

rachel-zoe-project-season-5-gallery-episode-501-17Odile wants to cut Rachel’s bangs and Rachel reminds him that she hasn’t had bangs since she got married. She goes for it and loves her new bangs. Rachel decides to stay away from the office after the next show because all she will do is restyle her looks. Rodger notices her bangs and says that he loves them.

rachel-zoe-project-season-5-gallery-episode-501-20Oscar de la Renta Show: Rachel feels that he is almost a mentor to her, Oscar likes her bangs. Rachel says she has a crush on him. He says that if you aren’t nervous for your show, then the show won’t happen and reassures Rachel that she will do well. Rachel feels reassured that Oscar is still nervous before every show. His show is beautiful and is full of show stoppers. She sees a few “Anne Hathaway moments”. She states that they are pieces of art and loves the way he addresses the modern woman. He designs for “the woman that dreams”.

rachel-zoe-project-season-5-gallery-episode-501-24A small commercial interlude where Rachel states that every mother thinks their child is the “most majed thing since sliced bread”. Rachel thinks it’s cooler when bread is broken rather than sliced. This is a weird interlude. The day of the show arrives and Rodger asks Rachel to help him pick out his shoes, and then about ties. Rachel could care less what Rodger wears. They say that today will show the New York Post that they are wrong. Rachel says today is “game day” but then says she doesn’t know what it means. It is 2 hours until the show and Mandana is going over  everything and making sure things are ready while Rachel is going to Michael Kors’ Show. When working for Rachel the details are very important.

Michael Kors Show: Michael is a dear friend so Rachel can’t miss his show. Michael talks to her and says he plugged her twitter. His show is “gorgeous”. Rachel feels like she completely identifies with it as it evokes the feel of the 60s which is one of her favorite periods in fashion. She loves how he matched everything to each other, very ensemble styling.

rachel-zoe-project-season-5-gallery-episode-501-29It’s 1 hour until Rachel’s show. The flowers arrive and Mandana thinks they are amazing.
30 minutes to the show and Rachel visits hair and makeup. Everyone is on time. they are assembling the flower wall and Rachel worries if it is modern. She is reassured and she is excited about the wall. She thanks the florist. Everyone needs Rachel’s approval. Rodger thinks that everything behind the scenes are calm; cut to hectic backstage as Rachel wants to restyle everything. Mandana and Rachel are afraid about their decisions.

Rachel’s Show: the show starts and Rachel is incredibly nervous. She puts up a wall to keep herself emotionally numb to it all. (Can I mention that Skyler is in a Burberry jumpsuit.) Backstage is complete chaos. Rachel is so happy when the show ends.(The floral wall does look really great) Rachel hugs people backstage after the show. Rachel is concerned about becoming a designer while remaining a stylist and a mom.

Welcome back Castaways. Last week, we said goodbye to Hope, one of the original P4 making them now the P3. Two women gone from the tribe. I don’t remember her being a great asset to the team in challenges but there is an even weaker link than her. Laura. After council the remaining members of the P4 tribe, Reynold and Eddie (P2), are very concerned for their spots in the game. They make the claim that without them, there isn’t a chance in hell of the Goya tribe winning a challenge against the much stronger Mikal (favorites) tribe. Michael makes the remark that they aren’t winning with them, which is true. However, anyone watching this unfold can clearly see that there are members holding them back rather than helping on Sherri’s alliance (who is really rubbing my last nerve raw with her shit eating grin) of five. Our favorite slacker, Shamar, has very little to say.

Day 8 over at the Bikal tribe, Pinky has deemed Brandon worthy of becoming a member of Stealth R Us. His imaginary corporation. He dubs Brandon ‘The Conqueror’, a title he seems pretty pleased with. Pinky says it’s because he attacks and conquers the challenges. He does. No one can really deny that he is a strong player. TH Brandon says it took him 9 days of kissing butt to infiltrate ‘agent Phillip’s’ secret alliance. He says that Pinky prides himself on being able to discern when someone is lying to him but he can’t because he has been lying to Pinky all along. Pinky then names Erik, The Silent One. I didn’t get why, I just remember that Erik HATES ‘The Specialist’, Pinky. Erik is one of the strongest players on that tribe. Then, we bring in Brenda. I didn’t catch her name, most of what Pinky says is Charlie Brown teacher blah blah bwah blah to me. Andrea isn’t too happy that Pinky has done this without discussing it with her first, she being one of the first of the Stealth R Us alliance. So… Now Pinky has given everyone a name, presumably in his mind, so they will all help carry him to the finish line. We’ll see how that works out for him. I don’t mind saying and I don’t think it’s any secret, I have zero respect for this guy.

Reward Challenge

sur2sur3sur2 (1)The object of this game is for all players to end up on top of or ‘above’ a platform at the end of a course. To achieve this two members from each tribe will be on the first two platforms of three. The rest will use shoulder top planks to provide them with a walk way to the third platform. They cannot carry the walkers but must provide the walkway. Got that? The planks are tied to the first platform so they must first untie the knots. Once both of the walkers are on the third platform, they must all swim to a 4th, much smaller platform and somehow all get on top of it. The Reward, is a local bushman will come to their camp and show them how to live off the land and will bring the gift of chicken, fruit, vegetables, that he will prepare for them, showing them how to cook it bushman style.

One member of the faves must sit out and they choose Cochran (this guy’s arms are as red as ripe tomatoes). The walkers for the Bikal tribe are Brenda and Andrea. For Gota, Julie and Laura, who struggles a bit with it. It’s about a dead heat though and both teams get to the third platform at about the same time but the favorites are there first because on the other side, Laura was the roadblock not being able to move as fast as the others.. At the fan’s final platform, Shamar gets on his hands and knees for the girls to climb on his back. I don’t know if this hurt or help them because the last one trying to get on top of the platform, was Matt (the beard). On the faves side, last one to be pulling herself up was Corrine. She made it first and the faves won the reward challenge. I would have to say that the loss for the fans was a group effort. No one single person could be blamed. I would put a large degree on Shamar’s strategy however because with his big body sprawled on top of the platform, there wasn’t room for anyone to stand on top of it. The Faves, just all stood on top and held on to each other. In the end, Shamar thinks they’ve won and begins to celebrate. It’s short lived though when it’s pointed out to him, they did not. He isn’t happy about that but thems the breaks. It came down to, once again, a matter of seconds.

sur4At the Bikal camp, the bushman arrives in his boat. He’s all of about 3 foot 5 inches and 60 years old. He proceeds to show them how to cook their food using bamboo logs, as roasters. Kind of ingenious. He cooks the food to perfection (according to a couple of the TH Tribe members), they all have their feast and Mr Bushman, begins fixing up their camp and showing them how to improve it. This is as much of a dinner show as anything else. He’s flirting with the women because, according to TH Cochran, he can get away with it. Cochran says that if he tried any of that with them, he would be seen as the creeper. The scene ends with the women giving the little guy kisses..

Over at the Gota camp, Micheal is a little pissed that they lost, again. He says the faves have this bounty of stuff at their camp and there they are with nothing. Shamar after commenting that he thought they had won, goes back to his normal position. Horizontal in the shelter. Reynold and Eddie cannot believe that he can be so lazy (I can believe it). Shamar is boohooing how he is being treated around the camp but says he is not leaving. Then he says, “Y’all going to bring me rice every day”. In case you think I made that up:sur5

The others are having a not so hard time believing what they just heard. I don’t know why. This guy has been a lazy loafer since day one. What do we see next? Sherri bringing him his rice. Are You Phucking Kidding Me? She says she doesn’t wait on her husband like that. This won’t last long though because while Shamar is being his lazy self, he gets a grain of sand or something in his eye. Turns out, after rubbing his eye for the irritation (we all do it), he’s managed to scratch his cornea. Probst has come to the island with the medics and they decide to pull him from the game. They all say their goodbyes and he is gone. I think the only one disappointed by this is Sherri. She has lost her ‘Phillip Shepard’ in the game and will have to bake a new plan for the others to push her forward in the game. That’s how that whole drama ends. The night before the medics pulled Shamar, there were storms to contend with, rats crawling on them as they tried to sleep, essentially they are living in a self made hell. If he had not been pulled, it seemed as though, they all had decided it was time for him to go anyway. Now discussion turns to which one of the tribe to go next. The ‘majority’ alliance says it’s one of the P2 and now that Shamar is gone, the attention is on them again.

sur10sur9Immunity challenge time. This is another physical challenge. The object is for the players to run out to a platform using another group of platforms to run across. Then they have to swim out to to a tower platform that has 5 keys for each team hanging from tiles. They have to grab a club and jump off the platform at the same time, smashing the tile, dropping the key into the water. If they don’t get the key, they have to go back up. Once they have done that, they swim back to shore and the next player goes. They have to get all 5 keys before they can move to the next phase. That is, unlocking a chest that contains the balls for the next part. There are 3 locks on each chest. It is the two remaining tribe members who are to unlock the chest and then one of them will use the balls, to knock all of the bricks off of the platform. Once all the bricks are knocked off, the tribe flag is raised. First team to raise the flag, wins immunity. There are two extra players on the faves side so they must sit this one out. Those two will be Dawn and Corrine. Cochran and Pinky are in charge of the chest and the bricks, Laura and Reynold on the other side.

sur6Let’s get this started. The first two to make the trip to the platforms are Erik and Sherri. Both of them eat it on the run across the platform and end up crawling across. I don’t know if they Had to make this run or not. I noticed Sherri walking in the water to the jump off point for the swim to the key tower. Erik’s forte in these games is climbing. The guy is an absolute monkey when it comes to things like that. He has no problem breaking the tile and retrieving the key and swimming back to the shore. Sherri on the other hand is already struggling, She gets up there, makes her jump but doesn’t break enough of the tile to drop the key. She has to go back up (and was the only one to do so). Brandon and Matt are next to go, with Matt at a huge disadvantage in key retrieval. Brandon makes very short work at it and comes back as Matt is just getting to the top of the platform. Brenda they runs out, eats it on the running blocks, but gets back up and catches up to Matt. She actually just about beats Matt back to the beach. Next are Andrea and Eddie. He runs across, she crawls but the fans are still one key behind the faves. Eddie beats Andrea back to the beach and it’s Julie’s turn. Andrea arrives and Malcom is the anchor leg of this particular part of the race. He too bites the dust on the walkway and has to do some crawling of his own. I think Brandon and Eddie are the only ones who did not. Malcom gets the final key so the faves can begin working on the locks.

sur7sur8Michael is the last of the fans to go. While he’s swimming back, Pinky and Cochran get all three locks open and Pinky begins tossing sandbags. Fans get their locks open, and Reynold begins tossing sandbags too. With a lot of ground to make up it comes down to 4 or 5 blocks remaining for the fans, to 1 block for the faves. At one point, and I don’t know what his purpose was, but Pinky began throwing these sandbags as though he was on a pitcher’s mound staring down a batter. Complete with the wind up. This is one strange dude. In the end though, Pinky gets that last block and the faves win immunity. Weak link for the fans? Sherri. If everything else had remained as it happened, if she had broken that tile on the first attempt, they would have won. Remember what Michael said in the beginning about P2 not helping them win? Hold that thought.

Quickly… Back at camp, Gota is doing the usual pre-tribal chatter about who is going home. Reynold hints that he may play the idol but is worried that if he does, it may be wasted. The ‘alliance’ is talking about splitting the vote between he and Eddie to force one of them out. Matt, who is tired of losing, campaigns for Laura to go home. Michael isn’t on board with that, he says, because he wants to remain true to the alliance, Loyalty vs strength is what it comes down to. Sherri notes that if Laura goes, the only remaining women on the tribe will be her and Julie (Who I think at this point is the only worthwhile woman player on this team). So, who shall it be? Let’s find out.

At Council, the Probsting begins as usual. This comes down to loyalty vs strength. P2 is convinced that without both of them, this tribe doesn’t have a prayer of winning a challenge. Once again, it comes up that they aren’t winning now. I will remind you that it was Sherri who cost them that challenge. P2, as arrogant as they come across, can only make up for so much weakness on the team and they are surrounded by it. Laura who has to know she’s the weakest link is playing the loyalty card. At this point, that and a bird in the hand will get you a dirty hand. This is a make or break vote. My fingers are cramping so let’s vote. Laura votes for Reynold, Eddie  votes for her. You know the drill. They always show us two canceling votes. Probst collects the votes, asks for the idol, Reynold plays it. Remember also, that it was Laura who outed him having it. Votes are read, 1 for Reynold, the rest, for:

sur11

Four was enough to send her home. So long Laura. Today, this tribe lost a lot of dead weight. One from the camp (Shamar), one from the challenges (Laura). Will they start winning now? Time will tell. Will this alliance of nerds (as they call themselves) survive? I think this alliance is dead and the next one who needs to go is Sherri if they are bouncing physically weak players. I can’t say I’d be too sad for Matt or Michael to make an exit either. I don’t see them lasting in this game without an alliance. Up to now, they haven’t been voting in a smart way IMO, but going along to get along. They see what they are up against and continued to vote those out or want to do so, those who could have helped them after a merge.

Next week, Brandon goes ape shit in the camp. We see him in the previews dumping the rice, tossing chairs, etc- daring them to vote him out. Will he make good on his promise to pee in the food? I really don’t want to know.

watched here since my DVR failed to record the show.

Close add and watch as free user – Start Video (you may have to press play as well). Download nothing and just close any pop up windows. Ask if you need help with that. You can also watch at CBS.COM (with the commercials and it is torture because you can’t skip them).

See you next week. Til then,

Good morning everyone. It’s Friday eve. Clap, clap, clap. We did get snow but no Snowmagedon. So we survived. I hope the weather is good where you are. Have a great day.

    • LaineyLainey says:

Hi Lovey-poo!! It IS Friday-eve!! Oh happy day, O happy day…(swaying and clapping)…and when Jesus was…when Jesus was… O happy day

    • Boobah says:

G’morning Powell. We are still expecting some crappy weather today/tonight but this hasn’t been nearly as bad as the weather people reported. But I’m not complaining!

    • realhousewifeva says:

Yah, they were hyping it up like it was going to be the worse snowstorm in years, and it was basically just a few inches. Coming from this Cleveland bred girl, it was nothing! They even had a 2 hour delay this morning and the streets were already clean and dry! My Ohio peeps would have laughed! lol

      • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

We had a 2 hr delay today for the first time EVER. There is no snow on the ground at all but it was nice to not rush everyone out the door for a change!!!

      • Powell says:

In DC, MD, VA they became more serious about closing schools or 2hr delays about 4-5 yrs ago. DC had major issues when they didn’t close school when they should have, so ever since then they don’t mess around in our areas.

      • Boobah says:

realhwva – I just hate how they hype everything up weatherwise!! And they make you wait with really annoying teasers…. :
“Will this storm system last three days and wreak havoc on your evening AND morning commute ? Tune in at 6 for a complete report from your neighborhood accuweather team!”
Then you look at the clock and it’s only 2pm! They want to mess with you for 4 hours with commercial teasers to make sure you tune to their channel! Then they had the audacity to put a ridiculous story on first…first up: some guy’s laugh got him ticketed…then maybe they finally get to the damn weather. Today they reported that I shouldn’t be fooled – the first ‘leg’ of the storm was easy, but I should brace myself for the next ‘leg’. Of course, first I must tune it at noon! All I could think of is storms have LEGS now?
        SMH. LOL!

        • LaineyLainey says:

i want to hear more about the guy ticketed for laughing.

          • Boobah says:

LOL!! Lainey, it was so weird! They had this poor man (who was sitting on his stairs inside his house as the newsperson stood over him) ‘do’ his laugh for the camera. Apparently, his laugh is bizarre so it was disruptive (I don’t know where this happened) so a policeman gave him a ticket! I changed the channel after he laughed because I felt bad for him – he seemed embarrassed. My guess is his laugh was percieved as heckling maybe? Not sure. The whole thing was just too weird for me.

            • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Boo-I saw this story as a teaser this morning-some town out on Long Island but I didn’t catch where. It seemed the whole neighborhood was annoyed with his laugh…..how redicilous!!!! I hope he laughs his ass off nightly!!!!

  2. Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

    Good Morning!!
Jeff-I keep forgetting about Survivor!!! I will read your recap to catch up… Miss seeing you around here!!!

    • melthehound says:

I’m around, Jill. I’m just over HWs and their BS. I don’t have anything new to add so I’m staying kind of quiet about them.

      • Powell says:

There you are MTH. I asked about you yesterday. Hope you & The Hound are doing well. JNNTJ told me you were over at the farm so I figured you are so tired of these Bravo HWs. 🙂

        • melthehound says:

Hi Powell… I am still watching BH but I am so tired of watching them rehash the same old pointless arguments over and over and over and over and over again. Did I say Over again? I meant to say, Over again…. When Lips McGee starts making sense and I find my self telling Lisa V to get the hell over it already, it’s time to step off the crazy train for a hot minute.

          • Powell says:

LOL. “When LipsMcGhee starts making since.”. LOL. I know right? You want to do a double take. 🙂 The last few seasons of all the HWs it seems they find a them & stick to it for the rest of the season. I don’t understand why they keep doing it.

where have you been young man!! – your scared me – don’t do that again *said in my best worried Mom voice* *hugs Jeff and the hound really hard*

thanks for the recap of Survivor – was it Reynold that had the idol? I don’t like that guy – what a stuck up pill – sorry about Shamar’s eye, but what exactly was the tribe thinking going along with his wishes – had he expected me to fetch him rice, he would have starved to death – I do think though, that he was not emotionally up for the game – I suspect that he wanted to go out but could not do so without losing face – someone who did two tours in Iraq saw a lot of sand – not saying he did anything on purpose, just not sure that he was truly sad to leave – I still want idol boy gone though –

that Hantz guy is just crazy – would the film crew actually stand there and allow him to pee in the food? would that get him ejected from the game? has anyone ever been ejected from the game?

did you stop recapping TAR? I know – I am a curious person – in more ways than one I think – *hugs Jeff and the hound really hard again just cuz*

        • melthehound says:

Hi SRB… I am still doing TAR but I haven’t seen all of this weeks show yet. I was out of town this weekend. I will probably send a mixed recap for NMD to post this coming Monday.

The one with the idol was in fact, Reynold and yes, he comes across as an arrogant ass. I think it was a dumb move on his part to play it because they can be kept until something like the 3rd or 4th vote before the end of the show. Malcom has the idol on the other tribe so we will see how that works out for him. Brandon went a little spooky crazy on his first season too, he just didn’t start destroying things. I doubt production would let him foul the food or anything else. I do think that would be grounds for expelling him from the game but I don’t know if it has ever happened.

Always appreciate those SRB hugs 😀

Good morning all. I’m looking forward to watching Brad tonight on the DVR. I’ve been catching up on Downton Abbey instead of watching live tv this week. It’s been lovely!
I’m so late to the party but hope Vanderpump Rules isn’t renewed. Love Lisa but the rest of the cast MEH!
I did catch the new shrink show on Bravo. I’m not sure what I think but the guy sure looked like Jeff Lewis’ brother. The smoking woman therapist reminded me of Samantha on Sex in the City :-). I

    • Hi nohausfrau….isn’t Downton Abbey delicious viewing? I still watch all the seasons sometimes when I need to decompress. Love listening to English accents!

The new Shrinks show…just SMH! 🙂

      • lillybee says:

If you like Downton Abbey, you might like watching Upstairs Downstairs. I just rewatched it and it still was great.

    • chismosa says:

NoHaus- that psychiatrist TOTALLY looks like Jeff Lewis, who I also think Josh 2.0 looks like not sure if he’s/they are all psychiatrists or -ologists.

    Happy birthday P!!!!

    Have a great one 🙂

  5. vilzvet says:

I had never followed this Jodi Arias trial but am now. Is there any reason it took so long for it to start, seems longer than Casey Anthony’s since the crime occurred. I assume she’s been in custody since 2008? What is her motive? It was definitely planned from that night, since he went into the shower? What a violent act, what a way to go. Can’t believe the camera was snapping as it happened.

    • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I just started following the trial also. I was wondering why this trial took so long to come about!!! I don’t know why it took 4 years but I bet rhva, kit or Trudie will know!!

      • iceNfire says:

I haven’t followed a trial since O.J. and have no idea why some are considered big news while other equally horrendous murders are just a foot note in the news

      • trudie says:

She absolutely makes me sick. She is acting like answering the juror questions is her time in the spot light. Her posture is different. She is sitting straight up and confident. She smiles and is pleasant.

One of the commentators remarked at how Jodi lowers her chair when she comes into court so she looks smaller than she is. The glasses and stringy dirty hair make her look like a meek and mousy librarian who couldn’t hurt a fly. I hope to God Almighty that the jury sees through that, and from the tenor of their questions, I think they do.

Someone told me that they think their sex life shows them both to be deviants. I disagree. Plenty of people have an active and imaginative sex life – no crime in that. I do believe that she used sex like a drug as far as Travis was concerned.

This sick b!tch sent flowers to his grieving grandmother. Can you believe that?

Loved the question: if you thought Travis was a pedophile, why did you tell your girlfriend that you couldn’t wait for your children to play with his. Her response: I didn’t want to edify him. Hey numnuts – the correct word is disedify.

        She makes my blood boil.

        • Powell says:

Trudie the body language expert Patty that has been on says just that about her posture. Also many of the experts say she acts like is her time in the spot light. I really hope the jury is paying very close attention to that. Beth Karas has said the female juror closest to Jodi doesn’t like looking at her anymore.

    • realhousewifeva says:

I’m not really sure why it took so long for the trial to get started. Casey and Jodi cases both occured in 2008 around the same time (June of 2008), so this one definitely took longer than Casey’s . Maybe it had something to do with where the trial would take place, jury selection (it was high profile and they needed to find jurors who would be unbiased), whether it can be tried as a Death Penalty, as well as all her tall tales…she needed to finally settle on one story? Not really sure, though

I think her motive was simply that she was obsessed with him, and if she couldn’t have him, no one would. He was set to go to Cancun a few days after his death, and Jodi knew it. She was not invited, and i believe he was going with another girl. If you listen to the 911 call when Travis’ friends found him dead, the operator asks the girl on the phone if they have any idea who could have done this and she immediately says Jodi. That, to me, says a lot. Clearly his friends saw the obsession Jodi had for him. I’m not, for one second, buying this “abused girlfriend” story. Jodi was the one following him around, moving to his state, driving all that way to see him…. His ex-girlfriend said on the stand that the final reason she and Travis broke up was b/c of Jodi and things Jodi was doing (like slashing her tires, spying on them)

I think Jodi knew one thing that kept him hooked was the sex. He wanted sex, she wanted marriage. When she knew that he didn’t want more than sex, she planned one more sex fest (going out with a bang, literally) and then ended his life.

I’m sure he wasn’t perfect, but he sure as hell didn’t deserve what she did to him. I think she had already pulled out the gun by the time she got him into the shower and that look on his face in the pic is fear.

She is SO crazy. You have to go back on youtube and watch some of the interviews she did a few years ago with 48 hours and Entertainment Tonight, etc.
She loves telling stories. She is such a pathological liar. When she is on the stand, it’s almost as if she is enjoying herself and giving details about things, even when not asked. So sick. If they don’t find her guilty, I will never ever again have faith in our justice system, and that is the truth. It really hit me hard when Casey was let out, but this would be the final straw.

      • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I knew you would be able to explain rh!!!

        • realhousewifeva says:

I should have been a prosecutor.I’m so hooked. Iwould never be able to be a defense attorney, and risk getting stuck with a nutjob like her. lol

          • vilzvet says:

Oooh thanks for the backstory, rh! She is definitely bat crazy. Hoping she gets a long sentence if not the death penalty.

      • Lisa Renee says:

Morning VA, you broke that down girl, you good. One of the reasons the trial took so long to start is that BSC broad fired two attorney’s. She had no council when she gave those TV interviews, no lawyer worth their salt would allow it. Jodi at one point also decided to represent herself. Then she had to tell the judge I don’t know WTF I am doing. Remember a defndants best friend is time. Peoples memories fade & some die or move away. The judge then put Nurmi back as her defense att’y. Keep the faith VA, the jury questions are the same as the ones we are asking ourselves. IMO, they are not close to seeing her as abused or victimized by Travis at all. Jury is highlighting things that makes no sense. After the Pinellas 12, I think we are all on edge as to the outcome. Have a great day. Hope you saw my post about your 11 y.o. DD, Lisa

        • vilzvet says:

AOL today has a summary of everything going on so far so I’m going to catch myself up. Warning about the graphic crime scene photos, but I already saw them last week on Dateline. Sounds like the jurors are not being swayed by her story.

        • realhousewifeva says:

Hi Lisa ❤ You are so right and on point. I hope the jury questions do mean what we all are seeing.

I didn't see your reply! I'll have to go look for it. I always forget to go look back on previous days once a new blog comes up. Hope you are well!

      • pat says:

VA, that final pic of him alive is just so sad. I am guessing (or hoping) that the jury has so many questions for her because it’s a death penalty case. IMO, premeditation has been established. Hope the jury believes so too.

      • chismosa says:

Wow this mormon sure got around. I heard some of his tapes/texts, I was so under the impression he was this devout virgin who SHE turned into a sexual maniac but I don’t think so.

They say porn is the biggest in the state of Utah anyway.

She is a complete sociopath/psychopath. Does she have a father? I know she claimed the father started using a “belt” on her when she was younger. Please. Is he deceased ?
They only always show the mom and her twin in court.
I am even going to try to dvr HLN (which I couldn’t find on my lineup since I guess they changed the name), to see if nancy grace talks tonight. I never watch her. But I want updates and I can’t sit all day and watch it in real time

        • Lisa Renee says:

Hi Chismosa, yes she has a dad, he is quite ill & frail. He was there for one or two days. His wheelchair was next to the smirking mom & smiling twin. They make me sick. I would love to know what is amusing them. The jury asked how her relationship was with her mom, Jodi said complicated & with her dad Jodi said she understands him more now. This whole blackout BS is based on abuse she received from her parents. Skip Nancy & DVR InSession 9-11 EST. They do a great recap of the day before. Very streamlined with good commentary. Lisa

          • chismosa says:

Thank you Lisa Renee, I will do that! I saw In Session by mistake during the day the other day- is that the ID channel?— and it looked like they were running a live feed of the trial so I was like, uh I can’t sit here all day I’ll never move! Haha

I will do that. Thank you. And I’m so interested in this “questions from the jurors” stuff because Jack McKoy, my king, never did that on Law & order ! Lol. I live for L&O

Now I want to know if Jodi is an only child. I watch a lot of Criminal Minds but that only focuses on serial killers (I believe you need to kill 3 to be that), and females are always the most intriguing.

            • Lisa Renee says:

Chismosa, I have to fall asleep to L&O every night. I have several 2 hour blocks on my DVR for when its time to roll over. I get your love for Jack McC(K)oy, I have it bad.

InSession is on TruTV. I missed a meeting & InSession changed their format last week to 2 hours a day instead of 6 hours. I’m pissed, great TV all day. They know how to present a trial. So I got screwed out of 4 hours & looks like Head Line News (HLN) is going to cover this trial. All the commentators are at HLN. I have no clue if they are going to show trials all day long after this one is over, which is expected to end in April. I don’t think so, maybe just the polarizing ones.
Jodi has one brother & one sister for sure. She may have two sisters. I can’t keep up with her family dynamic & don’t give a phuck. Jury questions are slamming. They are questioning her moral compass, her fog, why she never got therapy for her blackouts & making her explain all her double speak. Trying to catch her in lies. I am pretty
              impressed. Lisa

            • trudie says:

Only 3 states allow the jury to ask questions. I guess NY isn’t one of them.

I love L&O – each and every one of them1

              • Lisa Renee says:

Trudie, you are so right, I learned that from InSession. I can’t remember the other 2. Its what makes this trial so riveting for me. A prolific liar takes the stand & gets to be crossed by state & the last I heard jury asked 156 questions. Now Nurmi/Martinez get to follow up. Get er Martinez, get herrrrrr! Viva L&O 🙂 Lisa

      • Powell says:

She did tell 3 different stories so that could also be why the delay since the detectives would have to rule out a lot.

      • Catseye says:

Unfortunately, there are a LOT of women out there that do get obsessed with some guy. I had a run-in once with a nut like that, the guy was a nut too.

      • trudie says:

“If you listen to the 911 call when Travis’ friends found him dead, the operator asks the girl on the phone if they have any idea who could have done this and she immediately says Jodi.”

I did not know that. Wow!!

      • Powell says:

Either her lawyers went to Montgomery Ward for law school or she’s not listening to them because she gives too much detail. Lawyers always say don’t volunteer information and that’s just what she does w/every question asked. Martinez keeps asking her Y/N questions, saying “yes or no mam” & she gives more than a Y/N every Time. I think she believes if she gives all this info the jurors will believe what she wants them to believe but they’re not. They ate now in the 200 count of questions. No court Fri, Mon, & Tues.

        • trudie says:

I don’t think her lawyer has a snowballs chance in hell of keeping her to the script. She is star of this show and thinks she knows better than everyone else.

    • Powell says:

At first she had a public defender. I can’t recall the yr that she found these new attorney’s so that was part of the delay. I don’t know what the other delays were.

    • Rebecca says:

      vilzvet,

He was alive when the camera dropped and 1 minute 32 seconds later, Jodi picked up the camera and started taking photos of his dead body. She had stabbed him 27 times and he also had defensive wounds. She’s the devil.

      Speaking of Casey Anthony…..

That lunatic twit Chris Stark has started a Facebook page for Travis Alexander (like she did for the Casey Anthony trial), and is asking people to donate money for the family’s legal bills. The family is not being represented at this trial (the State pays for the prosecution) and have no knowledge of her. So this wackadoodle sicko is scamming people in the name of the victim.

I know she also threatened Johnny the Greek (her threats were as scary as Jodi Arias), which could be part of the reason he wiped his twitter. Some people have absolutely no grip on reality.

LA Debra, saw your question about where Yo’s lemon hill is and answered on yesterday’s blog (just now), but bringing it over here too. It’s Carbon Mesa Road. She’s on the west corner of that and Highway 1. On Google maps, I don’t see the house built yet. On Bing maps in some views, I can see the construction site. My iPod uses TomTom (I think) and it shows the house with the lemon hill just west of it.

    • LA_Debra says:

Thanks! I wanted to try the 3-D map thing on my ipad and see what it looked like. I thought this would be a good one to try it on.

Happy Birthday Pghemtchick! My all your wishes come true!

    • Methinks Yolanda’s house and lemon trees is in the corner of Carbon Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Use google maps, then choose satellite image and zoom in. You’ll find the house, the swimming pool located “just so” for a good ocean view, and the lemon orchard with several paths leading to the top of the hill where you can see the square roof of the gazebo.

      • Kansas Girl says:

You’re right! Carbon Mesa Rd is the next one west. Darn those small screens (or my old eyes!) Thanks for the correction. And now, my Bing map on the computer shows her house. Must have updated that area’s maps!

      • iceNfire says:

I’ve never heard any one say ‘Pacific Coast Highway’ and I’ve lived here all my life. To me it’s always been referred to as either Highway 1 or The Great Highway. I it hate when street and ballparks names are changed.

        • I’m with you on the name changes. 😦
However, that’s how I found it on the google map, so what can you do?

          • iceNfire says:

I used to live about 20 south of Candlestick Park and when they changed the name to 3 Com people always got lost and ended up at my neighborhood gas station. When those idiots in San Francisco changed the name of Army St. to Cesar Chavez St. All the businesses had to change their letterhead and business cards. They-Weren’t-Happy

            • Kansas Girl says:

In rural areas in the midwest, roads were named for the people who lived on them. Some years back, they (the roads, not the people) were numbered so the emergency responders could have a hope of finding whose house was on fire or which farmer had collapsed. While this is a great idea, most people still refer to the roads with their old names. Confusing for all.

And then there’s the road around here called White Dog Road. The story goes that either there was a white dog standing in the road, or a white dog ran out and barked. New names don’t stick. It’s still White Dog Road.

You know, the idea of a highway that follows the coastline for so far is like WAY KEWL to a Kansan! Oh to live on such a road!

          • It is beautiful KG…until it starts eroding and falling off into the ocean! You know, the coastlines are changing with these weather phenoms that are happening. PCH has been closed on and off for a few years as rains and waves wash some of the hill tops and road away, along with a few houses here and there. A long time ago, this was not even considered possible. Now, we are seeing the impossible become possible. But the views on a clear day…oh my….they are spectacular!

        • Stars99 says:

            • Kansas Girl says:

Yes it is. And not a very hard one. “I’m not _________” I know you’ve heard it often. It’s even a t-shirt.

My Sadie, btw, is a Maine Coon cat and beyond beautiful. She came to live with us last summer. I saw her peering out of a high box at the humane society and knew that she was a Maine Coon, and that she recognized me as her new human. She’s purebred, was supposedly a family pet but they gave her up when they moved, and she is learning how to be a real cat now — sleeping on the bed, playing, getting into trouble. I suspect she lived in a cage in her previous life, so she’s really living the life of Riley now! She’s a lovely girl. (As I’m sure you are, but I hope you don’t shed as much!)

I got him with his sister and now I have 2 more plus a Burmese (all rescues) that never shuts up and isn’t half as smart as them but she is sweet and beautiful. But how I love my coons.

  8. AZGirl says:

Happy Birthday P-Chick!!! I would love to hear Rachel’s explaination for Anne Hathaway’s dress at the Oscars. I know they changed dresses at the last minute due to the first choice was very similar to another dress being worn on the red carpet. But those darts! Poor Anne.
Adrienne opening a restaurant is ridiculous. She washed a chicken with handsoap and it was filmed. No matter who you are there is only a 50/50 chance that your restaurant is going to succeed.
To me Adrienne always looks like she needs a shower. Greasy. Must be the tanning stuff she uses.

    • Boobah says:

I would love to know what Ann Hathaway was going to wear before she made her last minute change. Oh, those darts were terrible! I’m not so sure the color was the best either, at least not on her. I would like to hear what Rachel thinks about Ann’s choice also.
The restaurant business is a very difficult business from what I’ve heard. You have to be very committed. I’m not sure what Adrienne is thinking. I do not see her as a committed or hard working. IMO she half-asses her way through everything. She can’t even spray tan correctly! Lol.

      • Apparently, Amanda Seyfrid’s dress by Alexander McQueen was the “culprit.” You can see the dresses in the link below, left to right, Amanda Seyfrid in McQueen, the Valentino dress Anne Hathaway had chosen, Anne’s final choice, a Prada.
        http://nymag.com/thecut/2013/03/hathaways-oscars-dress-kerfuffle-was-stressful.html
I you want to read more, here: http://nymag.com/thecut/2013/03/hathaways-oscars-dress-kerfuffle-was-stressful.html

        • They are both beautiful dresses. IMHO, I have seen 2 stars from the same movie intentionally or accidentally wear similar dresses. I understand why Anne wanted to stand out as she was up for an Oscar and likely to win….but I think she would have looked stunning in the original dress and would shine all on her own. It would have been better than those darts! LOL!

          • Boobah says:

pastBoston – Thanks so much for those links! I’ve been curious about that Valentino everyone has been talking about! Anne issued a formal apology to Valentino?! Prada prolly isn’t too happy about that.

Mardrag – I completely agree that Anne would have looked gorgeous in her original choice. She def made a mistake. And what was with that necklace?! Oh well.

            • chismosa says:

Boobah Anne “calm down” Hathaway is bffs with Signor Valentino. Like, bffs. So she felt very badly ditching him last minute

Despite this, the backup dress should have been AS superlative as the main one. These colors are so blah on pale skin, the pale pink, the pale one Seyfried wore. Yuck for Anne

Ps I don’t think Rachel has her top clients anymore. I think out of loyalty Jennifer Garner stays with her and Anne. But others, Demi, Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendes, Kate Hudson. Hmmmmmm
And I get it, she’s focusing on her own lines now
She wants to be or best, Victoria Beckham, and IMHO it’s not going to happen.

              • Rebecca says:

She did style Jennifer Lawrence though – who looked perfect.

                • chismosa says:

Yeah I’m not a fan of her dresses the past few awards shows. I loved her when she got her first nomination years ago for Winter’s Bone and wore sleek Calvin Klein-type dresses.
I personally found the dress too bride-like and thought it hung VERY low on her torso, it made it look like her boobs were way way low. Not a fan. I think she was emulating the Gwyneth Paltrow oscar-win look.
I’m surprised she went with Rachel instead of the newer “hipper” stylists out these days.
Not a fan if either the Oscar dress or the GG dress (with the tiers), nor the styling of hair or makeup. Loved the after Oscars dress though.

            • Hey Boo! Agreed……Anne can look so very beautiful……the dress she wore for the Brit premier was jaw dropping. I suppose even the best dressed ladies have to land on the worst dressed at some point! 🙂

      • shamrockblonde says:

the dress she was going to wear was an Oscar DeLaurenta gown, but just before the show, Amanda Seyfried mentioned that Anne’s dress too closely resembled her dress, so Anne changed – it should have been Amanda that had to change – I like Anne Hathaway, but oh those darts…..

      • Catseye says:

Or housetrain a small puppy, when she’s home all day with it.

    • pat says:

Yeah, it’s really hard to believe that Adrienne is considering opening a restaurant. She doesn’t seem to be a foodie. Paul was always trying to get her to eat something. Sad that someone who was born into such advatages, grew up to be so insecure.

      • iceNfire says:

I think she’s just not ready to step out of the spotlight. I never heard of her before RHOBH and I live in Sacramento so I’m well aware that the Maloof’s owned the Kings but never heard Adri’s name mentioned before.

        • mkvalle says:

I agree, she’s not ready to go away. I live in Sacramento too and was very aware of the whole Maloof family. Adrienne was active in contributing to SPCA when they first came to town and I remember when she got married, mostly because her brother bragged that Kiss played at their wedding. I was a Kings season ticket holder for 13 years and would see her and Paul at the games often….never saw her pregnant though, so I suspected a surrogate when I heard they had a kid, then they had 2 more. She always appeared to be made of plastic to me, very thin with high, high heels and a face pulled too tight. I’m glad she’s leaving the show. I’m glad the Maloof’s are selling the Kings (but I hope they stay in town!!!) I say good riddance, but I did like her oldest brother Joe and their mom Colleen.

I don’t think Rachel can be blamed for Anne picking that dress. The first one Rachel picked for her was beautiful, and she should have worn it anyway, even if her costar had a similar dress. Anne said that the one she ended up wearing “Spoke to her” out of all the dresses, and that’s why she chose it. Rachel gave last minute options, and that is what Anne went with. Unfortunate choice.

I guess JZ made it to Forbes magazine in an interview about being an entrepreneur. She tweeted it last night along w/ the phrase “I couldn’t have done it without you” or something along those lines. I thought she had made some list like Bethenny, but it ended up just being an interview. It says she is successful. I’m not sure what their definition of success is regarding JZ. Maybe marrying rich? Squeez rides the coattails of Zarin Fabrics. And apparently the tour buses now stop in front of Zarin Fabrics. But remember when Lynn was a stalker for taking a picture in front of the store…LOL… now Jillzy brags about it being a tourist attraction. I’m not sure it is worth anyone’s time, but here is the link: http://www.forbes.com/sites/danschawbel/2013/03/06/jill-zarin-from-the-real-housewives-to-a-successful-entrepreneur/

    • mrs peabody says:

I’m been on that bus tour while in NYC and yes it does stop there but not because it is Zarin Fabrics, it just happens to sit where the bus stops. They give little tibits as you go around the city on the bus and that is one of the tibits they give, that she was on that show and this is their store. The bus isn’t stopping there because she is on the show. I did not think the area was that great, it was not an area I’d be going to, it didn’t look like a safe area to me and I would not have gotten off there to see the sights. The first time I took the tour I would not even had know it was the store if the bus driver did not point it out. It’s just a store sitting on the street, nothing special about it.

      • lizzle says:

LOL… that is funny. Jill left the impression that her stint on tv has led to greater exposure of Zarin Fabrics. And she mentioned the tour bus stop in answering the question. What a whacko! It’s just where the bus stops… still laughing.

      • pat says:

Hilarious! And why am I not surprised? Sounds like JZ is embellishing. 🙂

      • chismosa says:

It’s where Chinatown begins I believe and breaks off, technically from another area. Lower east side or little Italy. All converge or something, right around Bawwwby’s place. Yuck

        • Lisa Renee says:

Isn’t that area referred to as the Garment District or is that 7th Avenue? She forgets that she is in the schmata (rag) (sp) business. Not very glam at all, Lisa

          • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

The Garment district is 7th Ave-more midtown than her store. She is actually a bit far from the garment district-lower Manhattan area.

        • lillybee says:

I believe that the politically incorrect name for that area used to be Jewtown. I remember shopping there when I was a kid.

          • chismosa says:

Ok I think, “think!” Garment district refers to strictly 7th ave in the 30s and so, near FIT, Parsons- where Project Runway and all them “hang”. I know Mood is there because I’ve been to mood! Haha

That lower east side area is also where the historical Jewish tenements used to be ages ago. No doubt Bawbyyy’s father or whomever- got that real estate decades ago. Very known on old New York times era. Then again, all my Irish American friends take the tours of the old Irish tenement areas in the L.E.S. so I’m sure they all intersected ages ago. Remember how like in Goodfellas the main guy was not Italian or whatever. All the areas of the newly emigrated were close together.

            • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

The store is right in the beginning of Chinatown if you are heading uptown. Not far from the Southstreet Seaport/Brooklyn Bridge area.

          • Lisa Renee says:

It may not be PC but it is where I learned the word schmata, Lisa

          • nyc mama says:

No that was never refered to as “Jewtown” by anyone except anti-semites. To repeat that is very offensive.

Zarin fabrics is on the lower east side of Manhattan. Traditionally where immigrants lived when they came to America including manyJews but also others. Zarin is located on a large, main intersection which is why it is where buses stop to give tours.

Zarin Fabrics has been around a long time. Longer than Jill and she had little to do with its success. They have provided fabrics, curtains, etc. for many years including many wealthy customers on the upper east side and at one time many years ago was the go to place for high end home accessories. Their success has nothing to do with JZ. I am sure that she caused many to go elsewhere for their fabrics etc. after seeing her on reality tv.

LES is an up and coming neighborhood now located near Chinatown, Little Italy and not far from Soho. The Garment center is 7th Avenue/midtown, high 30’s to low 40’s. FIT is on 27th Street further west, not in the Garment Center.

            • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

The spot where the store is does not look up and coming-it looks old and run down. I think the bus stops there because its the start of Chinatown-after passing around Battery Park and the seaport/Brooklyn Bridge-Chinatown isthe next stop on the tour.

              • nyc mama says:

All the new, hot, trendy restaurants are opening there and real estate has gone through the roof. Daniel Bouloud’s restaurant DBGB is there as are other high end restaurants, several upscale hotels.and boutiques. Lots have changed in the last 5-10 years and what were tenements are now being converted to luxury dwellings. The Bowery, which used to be filled with drunks on the streets is now the site of many new, hot bars and restaurants.Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

                • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I was just down there over the summer so this must be all new-Chinatown was looking quite sad!!

                • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I just googled DBGB…..now I want to go!!!!

                  • nyc mama says:

You should. It’s great. It has been around for a few years and has been joined by many other great places.. Walk around and you will see the sweetest small boutiques as well as wine bars, lounges, and other upscale businesses. Another great restaurant down there is Beauty on Essex which is fantastic.. From the front it looks like an old, pawn shop and you walk into the store and go through a door and all of a sudden you are in a 3 story, beautiful restaurant. Lot’s of celeb’s go there. Another is their sister restaurant Stanton Social. i saw Lisa Vanderpump there last summer amongst others. There is also Peels, Prune, WD50, Schiller’s and many others and upscale hotels like the Thompson LES, Hotel Rivington, etc. and you still have the old businesses as well.

                    • Kansas Girl says:

                      There’s a restaurant called WD40????

                    • Kansas Girl says:

Oh, nevermind. I read the number wrong. WD50 would be food-grade oily stuff, I guess.

                    • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I’m taking the kids to the Harry Potter exhibit at Discovery Time Square and theme we want to head to Little Italy and check out the neighborhood. Do you know of any kid friendly places there.the kids are 10 and 12-not picky and very well behaved!!!

                    • nyc mama says:

Hardly. The owner Chef is the acclaimed Wylie Dufresnie and it’s address is 50 clinton st. hence the name. He is one of the most respected chefs in the country for his work with molecular gastronomy. Eating there is an adventure to say the least and you will never look at food prep the same again.

        • mrs peabody says:

If I remember right there were oriental type stores around it, it sits on the corner. Like I said it is just a store sitting on the street, it has a few signs but nothing about it stands out. At first I thought he was kidding when he said it, I guess I expected a really nice store front in a ritzy area.

      • AZGirl says:

This is so Jill! Those tour buses have probably been stopping at the bus stop for years and she just now notices the buses and assumes it is because of Zarin Fabrics. She is just wacko.

        • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

When I took the kids on the bus tour it stopped by the store but the tour guide didn’t even mention it. He just said if you want to stay in Chinatown you can get off the bus now!!!

          • nyc mama says:

Answering you here Jill re: Little Italy restaurants. I haven’t found any restaurants I love in LI except I love Balaboosta but it isn’t really food that kids would like. there are always new restaurants coming and going so there may be some new ones now. I left my job in Soho a few months back so I haven’y kept up with the new one’s opening. Beauty on Essex isn’t far but may be a little expensive for what you are looking for but they have food your kids might like and you will be near Balthazar which is always reliable. Yhe LES has Little Muenster which has an plethora of amazing grilled chesses sammies. It all depends on what your kids eat.

            • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Ohhhhhhhhhh Little Muenster sounds good… Whenever I get a chance to eat in the city my pick is always Virgil’s-but the kids aren’t crazy for BBQ… They do love a grilled cheese!!!

              • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Did you ever eat at WD50?

                • nyc mama says:

Yes nut it’s not for everyone, like El Bulli in Spain, but it is very good as long as you are not expecting a regular meal. What they do with food is mindboggling.

My favs down there is either Beauty on Essex or Stanton Social for “regular food” in great surroundings. Take a look at their websites to get a sense.

                  • chismosa says:

Whoa to compare to El Bulli is wayyyy high praise ! I must check this place out. Didnt know we had someplace anywhere near that acclaimed in the city. Wow

                    • nyc mama says:

Much smaller establishment but same principle. Molecular gastronomy. Similar to Jose Andres in DC too. He has been featured on Bourdain’s shows, PBS, Iron Chef, Top Chef and Top Chef Masters and others..
This old but is from Bravo’s website:
Wylie Dufresne is the chef/owner of New York’s highly celebrated wd~50 restaurant. The Lower East Side eatery was awarded a Michelin star in 2006, which it has retained through 2010. Dufresne himself is no stranger to acclaim. The James Beard Foundation nominated Wylie and wd~50 in the following categories: 2000, Rising Star Chef (while Wylie was the chef at 71 Clinton Fresh Food); 2004, wd~50 for Best New Restaurant; 2008 and 2009 for Best Chef, New York City. wd~50, whose ownership is shared with chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and restaurateur Phil Suarez, acquired its unique name from the combination of Dufresne’s initials and the restaurant’s street address

If you want a thick steak or pasta then this is not the place to go. If you want an experience with food then it is. I don’t go there often but it is fun taking friends from out of town for something different and an “experience”.

              • nyc mama says:

Then go to Little Muenster. They will love it. There is nothing like the comfort of a good grilled cheese and then have so many different versions.

                • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

                  Thanks nyc!!!

                  • nyc mama says:

My pleasure. Can you tell I love food? I love art too but you can’t eat it. 🙂
Enjoy the Harry Potter expo. Discovery always has great shows.

                    • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I took my daughter to see the expo a few years ago-now my nephew wants to see it so we are going again. I think they have a few new things this time and I got a great deal on the price from Groupon!!!

                • chismosa says:

Replying to you here— yes I know about mol. Gastronomy and Willie DF, since he had ALWAYS been on top chef. I’m not interested in that. I just know a lot about el Bulli so it’s humongous praise to compare someplace in manhattan to that place. Good to know. Not my “thang” though. In Spain yes I try everything when there. But I believe you need a few months/yrs wait list for el Bulli. Not sure if I’ll go. I’ll stick to my normal haunts in Madrid – awesome food

                  Cool 🍜🍲🍝

                  • nyc mama says:

Too late. El Bulli is closed since late last year. Ferran Adria is doing other things now. The food is amazing all over Spain and his brother has a great tapas place in Barcelona. I went 2 years ago when we went to Barcelona and then up the coast to San Sebastian. A surprise from my DH. Another amazing experience which is why/how we tried wd50 when we returned.

                    • chismosa says:

I thought it had closed, I meant to write that. Thanks.
Yes I’m more into Castile/ mainland Spain food rather than the separatist people of Catalan! Haha
                      (I’m more Madrid than Barcelona)

Thank you NMD, Amy, MelTH, and BB for a great blog. Fun read!

Survivor – was disappointed that we saw very little of Cochran again, but maybe this is a good thing. He’s flying under the radar for now. WOW, his arms were very sunburned. Poor thing.

Pinky…oh, Pinky. Where to begin? WTF is wrong with him? No way he is playing up to the cameras, this guy is strange! I suppose I should just be happy he wasn’t wearing his pink skivvies. I also wondered what was up with the whole ‘pitcher on the mound’ thing he had going on…I was half waiting for him to signal his next ‘pitch’, you know, to the ‘catcher’ that wasn’t there. SMH. So the previews show us that Brandon loses it next week. Now he is playing to the cameras, IMO. He’s a odd duck too. Great recap, MelTH. Thanks!

    • melthehound says:

I too was waiting for Pinky to shrug off the catchers signal by shaking his head. I’m surprised he didn’t look over his shoulder at a runner on first base. I’m taking from the previews (bad idea, I know) that the faves loose the immunity challenge next week.

Glad you enjoy the recaps, Boobah.. 😀

      • Boobah says:

Bwahahaha!! Omg that was funny…I just visualized it with Probst at first base. I typically don’t put much stock in previews either, but Brandon was actually seen destroying stuff, so your guess is more than fair, I’d say. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I forgot to mention that I do not believe that Shamar was upset to go. I’m sorry and maybe it isn’t nice, but those were tears of relief! He got to leave without having to be a quitter. It sucks that he had an eye injury – I ‘ve had a scratched cornea. VERY painful and scary because it really can mess up your vision. But I still think he was relieved to go. More than anything else, I was also shocked by his, “get me my rice” crap. I actually thought I misunderstood for a second.

        • melthehound says:

I think you’re right. He wanted to leave and I wonder if he really wanted to be there to begin with. The get my rice thing…. It would have been one thing to ask someone to bring some for him if they were at the rice pot, quite another to order it be done (to keep him from having a school girl hissy fit)… I will always respect is two tours in Iraq as a US Marine but his time on this show, he will forever be a giant douche bag.

  11. Good Morning All! Still sending warm thoughts to all you snow bunnies! we are supposed to get a rain storm tonight and tomorrow, but they keep lowering the chance day by day. Sigh. Not a good sign for summer, but the good news is, no flash floods!

Thanks NMD, Amy and MTH for the great blog read today! You guys are amazing.

Hope everyone has a good “Friday Eve” as Powell says! 🙂

(P.S. Watching an interview with Maggie Smith on the telly….what a woman! Love her! Also have mad crush on her son Toby Stephens. Best Rochester ever! Anyone else see that version of Jane Eyre?)

Watching old episodes of OC housewives, when Slade was responsible, Lauri was engaged, Tammy’s daughters were a big part of it all…OMG, how things have changed! Slade was just interviewing that Jo didn’t belong in Coto because that is a responsible, family oriented town….WHO IS THIS GUY? He went from being a successful, responsible father…to Gretchen’s scruffy b*tch? How sad.

    • pat says:

When I look back at the season one “successful” Slade, I think his wealth was so easy come, easy go because he made his money when the real estate industry was a corrupt mess. And he was spending it like crazy, “frosting” Jo with jewels, etc. A fool and their money are soon parted. 🙂 I am impressed that he can speak fluent Japanese, tho! Not easy.

Nancy, if you see this, I just caught up on a couple of blogs and my heartfelt condolences to you on Emily. I know about 2 people who are having pet issues/ passings of late so I am so sorry. My heart goes to you xxxoooo

One lady friend I have —not 2 weeks after the 2nd of her 2 had to be out down went and got herself a new puppy. Unfortunately from a pet store but regardless, she’s happy and loved. I hope if you choose to get another you act quickly. 💜💜💜

Thank-you chismosa for your kind words. The house seems empty right now but our
cats have been wonderful as they know something just isn’t right so they have been by our sides 24/7. Our seal-point keeps putting her paw on my face. We will be getting
another pug from a rescue but not quite yet. We will know when it’s time. Tell you friend I’m sorry for her loss and a congratulations on her new baby. 🙂

      • iceNfire says:

Hi Nancy – What breed is your sealpoint? I had a seal-point Siamese years ago and that cat was insane! Beautiful but full on crazy. I’ve been looking into seal-point Birmans online… I saw them on the Too Cute tv show and fell in love. The last 2 cats we had found us so maybe our next cat is on it’s way and I just don’t know it yet 🙂

          Hi iceNfire,
We have a seal-point and a blue-point siamese cats. The are both feral so I get crazy.

thanks for the recap of Survivor – was it Reynold that had the idol?

  16. ann little says:

    good afternoon ladies!!

wow, i have to catch the rerun of Rachel Zoe next time around! looking at the pics I think it’s my old boss who did her flowers for the show!! here are some pics, can anyone tell me if these were the flowers? it’s from RZ Fall 2012…i’m betting it is!
I feel bummed I couldn’t work on it, I left the company 2 years ago after I gave birth….

    • lizzle says:

Those aren’t the flowers that were in the show. They were white orchids only that were strung together to create a backdrop for the runway show. The orchids were hanging down from the top of the wall to the bottom. But, when you watch the show… I am pretty sure it gives the name of the florist. The florist is filmed right before Rachel’s fashion show starts, so you will definitely be able to see if its her. The flowers looked great! That is awesome that you worked for that company.

      • lizzle says:

The woman had shoulder length brown hair and bangs (I think… there was a lotta bang mentions this episode.. so I may be confused on that) She didn’t wear much make up, but had a simple, natural beauty about her. Not sure if that helps.

  17. ann little says:

i’m guessing these were by the entrance or in the showroom. I’ll definitely have to check the episode out! 3 vases in the bottom have the same white phalenopsis that were strung by the runway back, so I am guessing it’s the same company. Yepp, my boss I very pretty and isn’t big on makeup.

  18. Here’s your thursday happy…
and YES… they walk amongst us…

  19. TexasTart says:

Only read the blog and not messages yet. However, I am very familar with ‘move the deer crossin’ and I don’t know why no one would help her! 😉 sarcasm

    Happy Birthday P-Chick! 😀 Hope it’s wonderful.

Lainey, Lainey – Caught your follow-up replies in yesterdays’ and know that you are welcome to latch on anything that floats your boat. 😀

MTH – Great to see you are back! I have missed you popping in here and there. Thanks for the Survivor recap! I like how you said, “…most of what Pinky says is Charlie Brown teacher…” LOL! And this one is a gem: “At the council the Probsting begins….” 😆 Please give Mel a cookie.

NMD – thanks for the gossip and what a hilarious screen shop of Brad Goreski and the ‘big reveal’ 😆 Rachel and Rodger did a fabulous job of pretending Brad was completely invisible when he was with Andy Cohen in the episode last night…speaking of as much

AMY – Welcome! Well, you you might not be new to Lynn Fam, but you a new blogger to me and thank you for the Rachel Zoe Project recap! Excellent job, you didn’t miss a thing! 😀

  20. NJBev says:

    Hey all!
MTH-Jeff great re-cap on Survivor, must say I pretty much agree
with your opinions and points of view on just about everything.

One thing that I thought about last night when they voted Laura out
based on the physical challenges was watch the producers make the
next 2 challenges based on mental capacity and Reynold and Eddie
    eat it.

I was also concerned about Shamar having done 2 tours in Iraq
and saying that Survivor the hardest thing he ever did as he left.
    SMH

Everyone’s posts were so interesting today, I wish I was around more,
I feel like I missed out on a good day!
Did I see people mentioning Q? Was there a reason for it? Did I miss
something? I always was very fond of Q, but I feel like she abandoned
us (a few times) and then just went on Facebook.(I don’t do Facebook)
It kinda made me feel like the popular girls were kicking me off the
    cheer leading squad. ouch. 😉
    hope to come back later!

    • melthehound says:

You are probably right, NJBev… It always comes down to the puzzle. No telling if Laura would have been any good at those either.

    • LavaLady says:

Hi NJ Bev, good to see you. Hope all is well. We are doing fine here. Some snow now; looks like the shore was ok this time around. We are still rebuilding; no insurance money yet. Boo.

      • NJBev says:

        Lava-
so nice to see you! But, don’t get me going on the insurance co’s.
I didn’t even pay attention to the news last night, they really make such an
issue over everything. Yeah, we lost more beach, but whatever.
I’m still wondering about how so many people haven’t recovered
from Sandy. I did meet one person whose home was cleaned up
by volunteers from a church, I felt so much better-
But yet have not seen or heard of one family seeing a cent from that
        concert.
Any way, Lava, I will say that i am very grateful that it wasn’t my
primary home that was destroyed. Amen for that.

        • iceNfire says:

@LavaLady and NJBev – I’m so sorry I didn’t know and there I was boasting about blossoms and birds singing the other day 😳 Hope the worse is over and better days ahead for you two 🙂

          • LavaLady says:

Hey ice, no problem at all. This blog is my escape from reality, so I enjoy all postings. I lost a vacation home at the Jersey shore, like NJBev. A devasating loss, but we are trying to rebuild. Just need to get the insurance money. Who know where the money from that concert went? I haven’t a clue.

Kelly Osborne had a seizure while they were taping Fashion Police today. Source: TMZ.

    • Powell says:

Oh no. I hope she’s ok. I’ve always liked her.

    • chismosa says:

      Whoaaaaaa
Poor thing. And it was on the cover of one of the weekly mags how sickly thin Giuliana is getting.

I like Kelly, torn about what gives her any authority in fashion but she’s ok on the show. She is bffs with Miley Cyrus so ehhhh on that.
      Hope she is better !

  22. Lisa Renee says:

Hi everyone, it’s 5:00 one more sleep till the week-end.
NMD, love all the gossip. You covering it all every day. Fingers crossed you never have any problems behind the scenes. Your disclaimer covered everything, good for you. Brilliant recap of VPR reunion. Bullet points! I love this shitshow, 1000 thanks for blogging it.
MTH–Survivor owes you big time. Forced myself to watch it watch to get to recap. Took two viewings. Already looking ahead to Hantz pouring out rice, lets get on with it already. Most shocking part is Cochrans sunburn. Your recaps make it watchable & Jeff Probst (ing-lol) better recognize. Turned him into a verb, very funny. The Stealth R Us naming from Pinky reminds me of the Delta’s nicknames from Animal House, ridiculous. How did Shemar get through 2 tours in Iraq (thank you & god bless you) as a marine with a mangina? Every tribe for the rest of time should come with a TaTa. I will be curious to see if they show tribe using what they learned. Thanks for making the recap more interesting than the show. My best to you & Mel, still lol from your A/K/A, Lisa

    • Cityside says:

LisaRenee, “one more sleep”…made me laugh. That is how I used to talk to the kids when they were waiting for a special day. 3 more sleeps, 2 more sleeps, one more sleep…

      City

      • Lisa Renee says:

It seems to be a friendlier number when you count sleeps. DD still hasn’t outgrown it & she is 25, Lisa

Anyone watch American Idol last night? Was wondering what people thought of Charlie’s performance. Kind of an awkward moment. Felt sorry for him, as maybe the whole ordeal is too much for him. Anyone?

    • BB says:

I heard his performance and his reaction from the judges’ critiques. Awkward. You kind of need to be prepared to listen to what they have to say and learn from it. I wasn’t watching, just listening, but it kind of sounded a little contrived to me. Like he was trying for the sympathy vote. I didn’t listen to the whole show and don’t know if he was the worst, but it wasn’t good.

    • djprincessc says:

I watched!! I like him!! He’s so out there and original, I hope he doesn’t go home because of that song, he has a good voice. I feel bad for him though since he’s been made fun of all his life, I think he has a disability or something?? I can’t remember.

  24. Cityside says:

    Stars99,

I love love love Duck Dynasty.

    • BB says:

City, there is a great recap of Duck Dynasty on Reality Tea.

      • BB says:

Not as good as Stars’ recaps though.

        • iceNfire says:

I’ve never seen Stars’ recap, never saw the show either. I did try to watch the new one Myrtle Beach…5 minutes was enuf for me

          • BB says:

Just watch one episode of DD and I think you’ll really like it. Stars recapped it last season.

            • iceNfire says:

I think I will try it. My dvr is open now that I’ve stopped watching Bones, NCIS, NCIS LA, and most Bravo shows. Can’t stand Zoe, Stanker, Brad is meh and not even gonna try Shrinks

              • melthehound says:

I listened to shrinks Sunday night.. What a crapfest. I think Bravo has reached a new low…

                • iceNfire says:

I still want a RHOHawaii. I think it Could be really good, Could be.

                • NJBev says:

I watched a repeat of it this afternoon and maybe it was just
the elliptical machine torture, but I actually liked it! (shrinks, that is)
I dislike Zoe, can take or leave Brad, and do not like the Dukes of
Dumpsters, the show that followed Brad-

                • Powell says:

I’m not even going to try Shrinks. Anyone looking at the trailer park reality show? I can’t remember the name. It looked so funny/stupid that I want to check it out. My mom says it looks to stupid to her.

    • Powell says:

I can’t remember who did the poll but DD was named the #1 reality show.I haven’t watched lately but I love that family. They are so funny. They are so down to earth, so simple that they don’t seem like they’ve lived some of the experiences they have. Uncle Sy fought in Vietnam, the oldest son is a college graduate.

      • chismosa says:

What I need to read up is what exactly are they doing that is anti-animal? I’m a huge Morrissey/Smiths fan and he is a kook but he adamantly stayed off Jimmy Kimmel bc of them. I see them in interviews and love how earnest they seem but I need to read up about what exactly they do to animals, if anything at all? (But one would assume so with the name of the show)

The Soup showed a trailer of something funny they did for the soup online where they did the “Dynasty” theme-song to the members of DD. but kept Joan Collins at the end. It looked HYSTERICAL

        • Catseye says:

I just LOOOOVE the song “How Soon Is Now” by Morissey. It’s one of my favorites.

        • Orson says:

They’re “anti-animal” because 1) they eat meat, B) they hunt for the meat they eat (except for snakes that they kill for self defense), and iii) they have a business of making and selling duck calls, which aid in the “murder” of ducks.

  25. nyc mama says:

Anyone else see Lisa’s response on Rumorfix addressing Adrienne’s comment that Lisa’s restaurant is a 2 out of 10 and how she seemingly copies everything she does? They left out the book and vodka 🙂

    Go Lisa!

“…Adrienne Maloof, who is opening her own restaurant in Beverly Hills blocks from Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant, is being quoted as saying Villa Blanca is a 2 out of 10, calling it “a disaster.”

Lisa was shocked by Adrienne’s rating telling RumorFix, “She seems to have enjoyed dining at Villa Blanca at my expense so I don’t see why she would give it a 2 out of 10.”

RHOBH observers say there is a history of Adrienne following Lisa in business ventures:
Lisa launched her shoe line “The Vander Pump” with the Ryan Haber Collection, then Adrienne announced her Adrienne Maloof by Charles Jourdan.

Lisa launched her own skincare line Epione, before RHOBH, and before Adrienne, who used to be married to a plastic surgeon, released her own skincare line.

So does Lisa feel threatened by the new competition this time around? “I don’t feel threatened by anything by what Miss Maloof does,” she tells us.

When asked about Adrienne’s copycat moves, Lisa tells us, “It’s getting really rather wearisome. I admit she’s licking wounds after getting fired. Attacking me isn’t the solution, but investing in Beverly Hills I support wholeheartedly.”….”

I just read the bad news upthread. There is nothing I can do to take your

    Baby. I am so sorry.
    love, Bev

  27. BB says:

Powell, if you are still around, here is some info about the DD family, more than you ever need and probably ever want to know. Lol. Phil and Miss Kay Robertson have four sons, Alan (who is not featured on the show), Jase, Willie, and Jep. Si is Phil’s youngest brother and is married, but his wife is not featured on the show. Willie is married to Corrie and they have five children. Jase is married to Missy and they have three children. Jep is married to Jessica and they have four children. Phil is a former football player at Louisiana Tech and started ahead of Terry Bradshaw. He was drafted by the NFL in his junior year but turned it down because it interfered with duck season, and he was not interested in having “large, violent… men chasing me trying to stomp me in the dirt.” He created the “Duck Commander” duck call in 1972 and incorporated the Duck Commander Company in 1973. Willie, the third born son, used his business degree to take Duck Commander from a family business to a multi-million dollar empire. He is the CEO of the company. Jase, the second-born, is in charge of the manufacturing aspects of the company and, along with other employees, tunes the duck calls by hand. Jep, the “other brother” and the youngest, films and edits DVD’s of the Robertsons hunting for worldwide enthusiasts. Uncle Si makes the reeds for the duck calls. His is famous for always having a blue cup (which his mother sent to him when he was in Viet Nam) full of iced tea.

I really do not know anything about Mormans-but I really dislike that fact that Jodi Arias claims to belong to any faith. As if she was shopping around for a religion! She should not even say a word about the Morman way b/c I think she knows less about it than I do!!!

    • chismosa says:

That Travis Alexander was clearly not a devout one if he was having sex, drinking, or any of that.
I adamantly, passionately despise the *cult* of Mormons but only because I’ve educated myself about this fake mockery of Christianity.

She only did the “conversion” because she thought it would change his mind on her being the marrying kind IMO.

      • Catseye says:

I read on the Sister Wives blog that Warren Jeffs has instructed that all the young children in his cult subsist on nothing but beans and water–twice a day. While HE is gorging himself on stuff like pancakes, scrambled eggs, corn dogs, in jail. He is a very evil man and so are the people abusing those children and punishing THEM for locking him up. I don’t understand why there isn’t more outrage about this going on in our country.

        • iceNfire says:

Anyone remember the show where a non-mormon guy converted to marry his girlfriend but his parents weren’t allowed in the church because they weren’t mormons and so they missed their sons wedding?

          • rabblerouser2010R says:

Wasn’t that Engaged and Underaged…and the little brat he married had a fit because his mom paid for them to have a ring exchange at a location she rented, so his sister could recite a poem to feel included.

        • L.A. Chica says:

Count me in as outraged. What can we do to help those children? Please let me know and I will do it!

          • lillybee says:

I believe that that Carolyn Jessop, the escaped wife who wrote the book Escape has talks about two foundations that are helping.

Can we help?: Is there any way the average person can help? I’ve been so struck by how devastating this lifestyle must be.

Carolyn Jessop: There are two foundations right now that are helping the victims: Diversity that’s located in Salt Lake City and another one called Hope and Elaine Tyler is in charge of this one located in St. George, Utah.

          • iceNfire says:

This is the kind of thing that made me turn away from religion. Kody Brown and all of his wives are quick to say the majority of mormons are good people yet they are doing little if anything at all to help those kids. Same with the catholic church with all the riches of vatican city and they do little to help their own. I mean no offense to anyone’s religion and I’ll have to add this topic to my list of things I wont discuss here. Again sorry if I ruffled any feathers. Anyway who is iceNfire in this world?

            • lillybee says:

I have a morbid fascination with the American Taliban like the FLDS and Quiverfill (that the Duggar Family belong to). In fact, some Christian fundies are very scary. For example, when Grandma Duggar hurt herself skiing, JimBob refused to have a male ski patrol person help or treat her.

              • chismosa says:

That ^^^ is so disturbing on so many levels. I bet they are still trying for more kids. Despite health problems the wife had last time

                • lillybee says:

They are but all the kids are not really the problem, the problem is that the kids are growing up uneducated and ill prepared for life in the real world. I think that some of their children are suffering from severe neglect.

        • lillybee says:

Here is some more information and the source about the beans and water.

          http://abcnews.go.com/US/arizona-child-bride-escapes-flds-community-children/story?id=18292889

        • chismosa says:

Wow Catseye that’s awful. It’s like L.Ron Hubbie’s rule of having babies subsist on “barley water”. Gross!!!!

I do remember the woman, I think she’s mentioned down thread here that is the woman who left the “compound” years ago and helps “escapees”. Not sure if she is the one you all mention below.

Those are the fundamentalist kookoos but I also despise the nice, average everyday mormon.
Take out that 2nd m in mormon.

    • L.A. Chica says:

I know a few Mormons and they are very good people. Warren Jeffs’ version of Mormonism is _not at all_ what they practice. Of course, modern Mormonism no longer includes the practice of bigamy…kind of like how today’s Christians no longer burn heretics at the stake. 😉

      • iceNfire says:

Did you ever read The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels? That book had me rooting for the heretics!

        • lillybee says:

Lol, I remember rooting for all the witches in Salem.

          • L.A. Chica says:

Me too, and I was raised Catholic. But to me there’s nothing more dangerous to the soul than fear, and those people murdered innocents because of their ignorant fear.

Remember that old episode of Bewitched when Samantha goes back in time to 17th century Salem, MA at the height of the witch trials? During her own trial she points out to the court that if those accused were truly witches capable of performing magic then they would use their magic to save themselves. But as they are mere mortals… And then Samantha twitched her nose and gave them a few examples of their inability to hold her captive, let alone put her to death. Bewitched was a fun, silly TV show but that episode did an excellent job of highlighting the dangers of fear and ignorance (and a general lack of ability to follow basic logic).

        • L.A. Chica says:

No, I haven’t but I’ll look for it. Thanks for the recommendation. 🙂
