Porsha Stewart Blindsided by Divorce / Dancing with the Stars Results Show

Porsha Stewart Blindsided by Divorce and Other Gossip by NoMoreDrama

If a man doesn’t have the decency to tell you he’s filing for divorce before it hits the tabloids, you’re probably better off without him.  I wish Porsha Stewart the best of luck.  According to TMZ, Kordell Stewart filed for divorce on March 22nd.  The couple had been separated.  Porsha made a statement saying she was “blindsided” and learned about the news from the tabloid.

According to TMZ, Kordell claims that he shouldn’t have to pay Porsha alimony, saying: [She’s] an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself.”  Wow – this coming from a man that didn’t think Porsha could have a child and a career.

This is the fourth divorce for a Real Housewife of Atlanta.  DeShawn Snow (Season 1)  divorced from husband Eric after they left the show.  Eric cheated on DeShawn and fathered a child with another woman.  Lisa Wu (Seasons 1 and 2) and Ed Hartwell divorced after they left the show.  NeNe and Gregg Leakes divorced somewhere along the way, but are getting remarried.  It’s not clear why they divorced.  Possibly for a storyline, or perhaps tax reasons, but they seem to be getting along well today.  According to BET, Wendy Williams recently took a dig at the relationship on her show, saying NeNe and Gregg’s relationship “had a lack of chemistry and described their pairing as being a great friendship with business benefits.”  NeNe fired back @WendyWilliams don’t know SHIT about my relationship! Have u ever seen her and Kevin kiss? Yuck”  Uh oh, I wonder if Wendy is still invited to the wedding.  NeNe tweeted this just a month ago:@WendyWilliams is definitely invited 2 my wedding! @CynthiaBailey10 is definitely a brides maid! They will b NO maid of honor”

Dancing with the Stars Results by Lisette

The show begins in the best way…a group dance with the pros and dance troupe members!  Now some behind the scenes footage from last night.  I like this part.  You get snippets of dialogue before they dance.  And now onto the results…first couple safe…Ingo & Kim!  It’s so loud in the ballroom that Ingo & Kim don’t hear it and it has to be repeated 3 times…LOL!  Next couple safe…Sean & Peta (duh! ABC show).  The next returning couple is Wynonna and Tony!!!!  Wynonna is so stunned she doesn’t react.  The first couple in jeopardy is...Victor & Lindsay (sad face).

Encore performance voted on by tweets…Zendaya & Val!  I like that one Chmerkovskiy brother is getting some time in the spotlight.  The dance is really better the second time around.  Much looser and fun.

The next round of safe/not safe.  Alexandra, DL and Lisa are on the stage.  Backstage footage on Alexandra & Marksegues to them being safe.  Now DL & Cheryl are in the spotlight.  They show DL talking to camera saying he does appreciate being on the show and that segues to DL & Cheryl are safe!  Now Lisa & Gleb.  They show Lisa & Gleb’s after dance interview and Gleb goes I think you need to sleep with Len and she goes I think I do.  I think you’re cute Len and I don’t mess around with young kids but I like older men.  Pan to Len who is laughing and looks like he’s turning red or is that a tan…LOL!  And unfortunately that leads to the reveal, Lisa & Gleb are in jeopardy!  Boo!

Now the obligatory interviews with Brooke.  Then comes the “training is so hard” montages shot documentary style.  Filler!  This show should really only be a 1/2 hour long.  Performance by Icona Pop.  Hmmm is day-glo making a comeback?  Introduction videos to welcome two new troupe dancers and two new pros.  Then they perform a dance number.

Next round, Jacoby, Kellie and Zendaya are on the stage.  Recap of last night’s dances.  Zendaya & ValKellie & Derek and Jacoby & Karina are all safe.

They’ve made a few changes to the format of the show.  They now use the troupe to dance into the commercials.  And the post show interviews look like they are being conducted by TMZ.  They’re shot in the parking lot as the celebs are walking to their trailers.  Guess the producers have to find ways to keep the show fresh after 16 seasons.

Up next, performance from Josh Groban.  Chelsie’s dancing!  Happy to see her since she’s not a pro this season.

Last round before the final reveal, Dorothy and Andy are on the stage.  Recap and interviews (love Tristan’s accent). Dorothy & Tristan are safe.  Andy & Sharna are in jeopardy.

Andy & Sharna are safe!  Dorothy & Tristan are being asked to come out on stage.  Uh oh!  Dorothy is withdrawing from the competition due to a spinal injury that could be dangerous if she continues and injures it.  Everyone is crying.  So we don’t know who would have gone home since they are getting a reprieve.  So that means Lisa & Gleb and Victor & Lindsay are safe by default!  Wow!  Didn’t see that twist coming.

Well that’s all folks!  I guess Lisa has one or two weeks tops left.  Better catch her while you can!

    Holy smokes I am first?

    • LaineyLainey says:

Good Morning, AZGirl!! It’s nice to see you!!

      • AZGirl says:

Good morning LaineyLainey. Believe it or not once again no workout today. Some how I broke a blood vessel in my right eye. Must have been scratching in my sleep. I hope everyone still likes me when I am fat because I am not getting any workouts in lately 🙂

        • LaineyLainey says:

OH girl, if nobody loved fat people, I’d be in big trouble. Sorry about your eye. Is it all red?????

        • Powell says:

AZGirl I’m sure you’ll get back to those workouts soon enough. Did you call the doc?

          • AZGirl says:

I think I will wait it out. It happened before up and BIL cabin riding the quads. It just I can’t wear contacts and I hate wearing my glasses. So vain.

            • Powell says:

I know & feel your pain. I wear contacts. I have worn hard lenses forever & tried soft last yr & really liked them but they didn’t give me the sharpest vision so I was wearing both. This yr for my check up my doc tried & tried to fine tune the prescription for soft but it didn’t work so I gave up & went back to hard.

        • rabblerouser2010R says:

Oh no….I hope it heals soon.

        • shamrockblonde says:

yuck – I get those too – being on blood thinners makes them appear really nasty – I got one right around Halloween and one of my co-workers asked me if I did something to my eye – like inject something – to it for Halloween……too many special effects movies for that guy…..10 days to 2 weeks – it does not hurt, just looks groos – all you can do is wait it out and scare little kids……

    • Powell says:

LOL. I was working away & didn’t even hear my email come in. 🙂

  2. AZGirl says:

Now I am worried…where is Powelly Poo

  3. Amalfi says:

Porsha is really beautiful — and not extremely bright — or so she acted. Hopefully the catering wife was a role she found herself in and a more independent and interesting woman will emerge.

Old RHOA reruns are on… Sheree with a real house. I had forgotten she actually fit in for a while.

    • LaineyLainey says:

She will soon realize that she’s better off. A lifetime with a man like that would have been so harmful to her spirit. Not crazy about some of her antics or her taunting of Kenya…but, well, she was trying to fit in, trying to be asked back on the show, creating drama…now that her boss (Kordell) won’t be around to tell her when to and not to fart, she will have a more interesting storyline. imho

      • $25,000 says:

Porsha is a bit ditzy but I think she has a good heart. I hope she gathers herself up, takes Atlanta by storm and shows everyone how much better her life is without Kordell. Now I think back on all of her scenes with Kordell, and I see that she was tip-toeing around, trying not to offend him. I feel very sorry for her. He would discuss a situation she was in with the housewives, and would tell her she had better “check that” or she would have a problem with him. He was doing his best to keep her in line and off balance all the time. What a complete azz he is.

  4. designernailsdiana says:

    AZgirl wow you beat Powell!
She must be enjoying the nice weather this morning.
I just returned from the gym. Third day in a row my foursquare said You heart says YES yours biceps say OW! Too funny.
I feel for Porsha but is this another “Parting gift” from a husband to his ex wife, Ala Grammer style?
Porsha will move on and be fine just like Camille and the rest of the divorcees.
I’m going to go kiss my sleeping hubby now.

    • LaineyLainey says:

Good for you, DND!!! I need to moooooooove!!! In the meantime, I’ll just sit here at my desk job and moooooo? LOL!! Have a great day!

    • Vegas Chick says:

Kordell doens’t want to pay alimony? Isn’t he a prize? Porsha better get herself one good, nasty azz attorney because I’m pretty sure that she’s in for a big fight. Hopefully, her family will rally around her. She should consider herself lucky getting out this early. She could have wasted 10 or 15 years with this bozo.

      • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I believe she said they do not have a prenup right? She is in for a battle with that Kordell I think.

      • LaineyLainey says:

ITA, VC. She will be so thankful that she didn’t get a life sentence with “this bozo”—I like that.

      • Powell says:

He may not want to pay but he’s going to pay her something, no doubt about it. Remember when Kandi told her in the beginning it’s nice but then it changes? It’s bout to get nasty.

      • $25,000 says:

I hope that the judge will look very favorably on Porsha and will give her a good settlement. I am sure everyone in Atlanta knows who her grandfather was, and that should help in how she is received.

    • AZGirl says:

See my post above in response to Lainey. I have not been able to get workouts in.

  5. windycitywondering2 says:

Did anyone here like Kordell? He was a creep from the jump and his idea of what a woman/wife should be couldn’t have been a surprise to Porsha. I wish her the best in the future and he can go suck eggs like the cowardly dog he truly is!

    • LaineyLainey says:

I know this is weird, but I never liked the way his voice would go up really high when he spoke. Especially when he was trying to make one of his “Kordellisms” as Cynthia called them.

    • realhousewifeva says:

He made me cringe everytime he was on screen. I think she’s lucky he’s divorcing her.

    • Powell says:

He wasn’t very eloquent w/words. Sometimes I didn’t know what the heck he was talking about. He said to Porsha that he didn’t control her but his actions showed the opposite most of the time & it seemed Porsha thought he did at times. I didn’t like when he butted in on Porsha & Cynthia’s tiff cause they were working it out.

    • kit9 says:

And not to pile on gratuitously, but he’s freaking ugly. I do want to see next week where the previews show he and the other resident d-bag hubby facing off. Hopefully, they fight and both lose.

  6. cocfarm says:

Is anyone else pulling for Andy dick on dwts? I loved his dance.
Lisa looks strange to me like she is using new make-up. She does need to loosen up.
    Thanks for the blogs!

    • LaineyLainey says:

I’ve always liked Andy Dick (since the show Newsradio). Go Andy Dick!!!

      • cocfarm says:

        Ditto!
The whole cast from his last show w eric Roberts and Sherrie Shepard were in the audience pulling for him. Seemed sincere…
Newsradio just makes me so sad that Phil Hartman is gone. Loved that guy. What a horrible end to a great talent.

        • LaineyLainey says:

Yes, it’s hard to watch now because of the tragic death of Phil Hartman. It’s hard not to think of that…but it’s also hard not to enjoy his character on that show. He was great. “good times…” 🙂

          • cocfarm says:

Loved him on the simpsons also.

            • LaineyLainey says:

              yeah…me too!!!!

            • Powell says:

              🙂

            • LaineyLainey says:

Are those your puppies (on your gravatar)????? beautiful angelic faces!!!

              • cocfarm says:

Yes, they are our pups. They are now a little over a year old each. They have angelic faces but they have bad ideas when it comes to parrots and chickens! We are about to get 6 baby chicks and i think my life is going to get very stressful but they are doing good with classes and training. fingers crossed 😉

          • L.A. Chica says:

I cried when he was killed. He was so talented and by all accounts he was also a wonderful person. His death was such a tragic loss, and I sometimes wonder whatever became of their children.

            • cocfarm says:

I remember where I was when I heard the news. I was that shocked.
I believe the kids went with her (brynn’s?) sister.

        • rabblerouser2010R says:

I can’t stand Andy Dick. I think he is a weirdo and a total creep; he has had a few sexual assault convictions. Rumor has it, he also got Phil Hartman’s wife using cocaine again so Phil was going to leave her….so she lost it and murdered him and killed herself. Jon Lovitz kicked his ass over it.

          • L.A. Chica says:

ITA, Andy Dick gives me the creeps.

          • cocfarm says:

He is a weirdo and a creep but I think the dark stuff was mostly fueled by drugs and alcohol. I will give him credit for working hard to get beyond it.
Did not know he was with Phil hartmans wife the night she murdered Phil. But how could he know what she would do? What a tragic tale all the way around.

        • Powell says:

I loved News Radio & often think of Phil Hartmann. He was a fantastic talent. I wonder how he would be today.

    • Realhousewifeva says:

I was surprised DL was safe but he probably has a big fan base. Compared to the others, Lisa is not looking too good. I wonder if she was going to be the one out. Kellie and zendaya are already pros prectically! I sort of love kellie, especially after she shaved her head in support of her friend going thru chemo, and I think Derek is an awesome choreographer, but otherwise I don’t care for him too much

      • cocfarm says:

Agree. What was he thinking with that first dance? Made me think of master p and that was more of a nightmare! He did crack me up eith his Whitney and bobby comment. That was hysterical and caught everyone off guard.

    • kit9 says:

That Zendaya girl is incredible! I watched her jive about 10 times. She’s pretty much a ringer so it’s not fair like when they had the lead singer from the Pussycat Dolls on….she was already a pro dancer! Still, I love watching this little(tall!)girl dance. Wow. She puts on a smile and is trying to be a trooper but I htink she seems like she doesn’t want to be there.

      • kit9 says:

should be Lisa in that last sentence! I need edit feature!

      • cocfarm says:

I don’t understand how she goes by one name. She’s 16! She’s no Cher or Madonna! She does seem like she’s not really into it but she sure can move!

        • kit9 says:

Oh, hells no! She goes by one name? I didn’t realize that. Come on! You have to be at least 20 before pulling that nonsense!lol

      • realhousewifeva says:

She is amazing and my daughter loves Shake it up so I enjoy watching her. Sometimes I feel like it’s a bit uncomfortable knowing how young she is dancing with an older man in these sexy ways. Bruno was starting to get into “don’t go there” territory when he started with the whole movements while Carrie Ann was trying to stop him, lol

        • kit9 says:

That’s such a good point. They are going to have to be very careful with the Latin dances. In fact, how are they going to handle that since some of those dances are about straight seduction and ‘making love’ on the floor?

          • Realhousewifeva says:

I know, these kids are already growing up fast because of the industry they are in and this just doesn’t always sit well with me

    • Powell says:

I’m glad for Andy. I hope he keeps up the good work of maintaining his sobriety. I always loved him. When he sank into his addiction it wasn’t pretty.

DWTS makeup & hairstylist sometimes messes w/the ladies looks too much.

      • I Need A Life! says:

I’ve always really disliked this guy. However, watching him break down on the dancing rehearsal floor made me see his as a human being who struggles like the rest of us.

  7. Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I didn’t really like that Kordell from the start. I feel sorry for Porsha… She thought her life was pitcher perfect. How does TMZ always know about everything before the person that will be most harmed by the news?

    • LaineyLainey says:

pitcher perfect…it was a bad brew…as it turns out.

    • LaineyLainey says:

BTW-hi Jill!! Missed you when you were gone-ish. Did your sis have her party this past weekend, I lose track with all the fun family stuff you guys do. 🙂

      • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Hi Lainey!! We had the best time EVER at the party!! Danced all night!! It went by so fast. We spent all day Saturday getting out hair and make up done (all the while sipping on champagne) and just having a blast. My sister was beautiful in her wedding dress she was glowing! I wish the day didnt fly by so quickly!!

        • LaineyLainey says:

Your girls are lucky to be part of such a great extended family. Jill, that’s kinda rare these days, not sure if you know that. So glad you had fun and especially that your sis was “glowing”!!!

        • Boobah says:

JillNNTJ, sounds fun! Glad you had a blast! Your family sounds like such a fun group.

        • Lisa Renee says:

Hi Jill, I was busting for details about the party, looked through tons of comments thinking I missed it. Sounds like it was a smashing success. I agree with others who have said you & your family are pretty special. Love how happy you were for your sister & insisting she do a “real” wedding dress. Thanks for sharing. More importantly did lil mag’s get her lightup blanket yet, I saw one in walgreens with the pillow & thought of her immediatly lol. Glad all is well with everyone, Lisa

          • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Lisa-poor Maggie is still without her light up blanket! She has lost her two front teeth and is now loaded with more money than any 6 year old should be and all she wants to buy is that damn blanket! I’m going to take her to Walgreens tomorrow!!
My sisters day was so incredible-she was so happy!! Every picture that was taken of her shows her smiling and glowing! It was the best time!!!

            • Lisa Renee says:

Jill, 2 teeth 🙂 major score. Get that child to walgreens before she ends up on a therapist’s couch talking about how “she was born a poor black child”. Please tell me you remember that from the steve martin movie because it’s a joke I swear. I say it to Ashley all the time. Lisa

    • Powell says:

TMZ has peeps everywhere. At court houses, hospitals, police depts, airports, restaurants.

      • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

It’s so crazy to me that they know everything…it’s sad but I guess that’s they way it is now

        • Powell says:

Yup. And what I get a kick out of now, since Michael Jackson died & TMZ was the only media outlet that got everything right because they had someone right there ALL news outlets, CNN, MSNBC, GMA, the Today Show etc from that time on say “according to TMZ…”, that just amazes me.

          • realhousewifeva says:

ME TOO! They’ve become the go-to credible source for everything lately. The creator of the site is a lawyer, right?

            • Lisa Renee says:

Hi VA, yes, harvey is a full fledged lawyer. I can’t believe they have become a reliable source of info either. From your posts it sounds like all is well on the homefront 🙂 Lisa

        • Powell says:

And on the season finale of BH Kyle said about A & P’s marriage “its funny how TMZ knows”. Kyle hosted TMZ one night when Harvey was on vaca. I’m not saying Kyle gave them info. I’m sure they got it from a contact at the court house or A could have called them.

          • seagirl45 says:

Ever notice how tmz’s coverage of the kardashians is biased in their favor? It’s cuz they’re in business together. Harvey and the kardashians co-own Shoedazzle.

            • realhousewifeva says:

They have a clip on their site where they are all making fun of how bad Kim looks recently in a black dress, with her added weight gain. They were pretty harsh.

  8. Catseye says:

BB, I had a horrible cold too that lasted over 2 weeks! What helped me was making some homemade Lemonade. I squeezed a whole lemon (actually I used one of those handheld wooden things) including plenty of pulp into a glass, mixed in about 2 teaspoons of real sugar (I usually use sugar substitutes for everything), then filled the glass with filtered water the rest of the way. After drinking about 2 glasses of this stuff, my nose cleared and I started getting my energy back–I still have a little bit of a cough, though. I had tried drinking a store bought Lemonade (Just Juice, I think was the brand) and it didn’t do anything–compared to the natural way. (And I went through an entire bottle of Nyquil, it worked great at first, then I found that I couldn’t sleep after taking it.)

    • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

NyQuil makes me hyper-like bouncing off the walls hyper. I tried DayQuil once thinking it might make me sleepy but that was a bust!!

      • LaineyLainey says:

Now they have zzzzquil. I’m tempted to try that. It’s probably got the same active ingredient as Benadryl. That’s what sominex is.

        • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Benadryl makes me hyper too-and it makes Maggie extra hyper! I found that out one night when she had a reaction to something she ate and the doc said to give it to her…she was up all night running in circles!!

          • LaineyLainey says:

I can totally picture that!!!! LOL! Well, now we can laugh.

          • Oh Jill….I am like this too. My system is so weird…it is like the game opposites. I took an antahystemine (sp?) once for a cold and it was supposed to knock me out. Instead, I felt like I had drunk 10 cups of coffee and was flying. I worked as a bartender at the time (long ago) and the patrons told me they had never seen me talk so fast…my mouth was smokin’! 🙂

            • L.A. Chica says:

Sudafed affects me this way. I didn’t like it!

              • I didn’t like it either Chica. I would rather do natural and organic remedies. My system just does not like medications.

                • L.A. Chica says:

Me, too. You know what else is really great in the natural remedies category? Olive Leaf Extract. I get it online from Swanson’s vitamins.

Vitamin D3 is also great for the immune system, but if you take Vitamin D3 (I do daily, as with the olive leaf extract) you should also take K2 so the calcium in your body goes to the right places: teeth and bones. Otherwise it could cause bone spurs and other problems.

                  /Dr. Chica 😉

              • Powell says:

I guess thats why people that make meth like Sudafed & Actifed as an ingredient because it can have that effect. When I saw that on the news yrs ago about now keeping them behind the counter because they are stolen to make meth I was suprised. Had no idea that was used.

            • Boobah says:

LOL! ‘smokin’ mouth’ That’s funny. 😀

          • realhousewifeva says:

I’ve always been told to give my kids Dye-free Benadryl, because the dyed one causes hyperactivity. My kids always get tired if I give them benadryl, but I know a lot of people who say it doesn’t for their kids

  9. Realhousewifeva says:

That sucks for porsha if she spent any time on the reunion defending her marriage/husband. I just watched an interview she did Monday morning and she was defending her marriage

  10. AZGirl says:

@BB: I was really sick with a bad cold twice this year. Get to the doctors and have them check you out. I did not at first and really wish I had.

  11. Vegas Chick says:

I am a huge fan of Oxycociddium (sp?). It’s a natural product that you take at the first sign of a cold. It’s in the cold section and all major drug stores have it as well as Whole Foods. Great stuff especially when you travel. Hope you feel better, BB.

    • L.A. Chica says:

Yep, I love that stuff, too. But I’ve found that the two most important things in helping me get over a cold is lots of hot liquids (soups and tea) and SLEEP.

  12. Powell says:

Good morning everyone. Happy humpdy hump day. Nice sunny day. I hope you’re having great weather today. I hope Contessa, Mr. Ford & Lizzi are doing well. 🙂

I’m sad for Porsha. It was on GMA & Wendy Williams this morn. Poor girl. Kordell has been planning this he didn’t show up to the reunion. She can do better IMO.

    Have a great day everyone.

His name is MUD now. MUD, i tell ya!! The public will not look too kindly on this bully move especially since she has done nothing but show herself as the good and dutiful wife to him. It seems like everything she did was to keep him happy.

    • Monring Powell….glad you are having a sunny day!

P.S. Don’t freak us out anymore by missing the email that welcomes us into the day! 😉

  13. L.A. Chica says:

Good morning! Happy Hump Day. 😀

I was just trying to catch up a little on yesterday’s posts and two subjects caught my attention. I’ll address one of them here:

(((djprincess))) I totally understand your concern for your bff and her rush to get married. While some people do have very happy and successful marriages after a short courtship (iceNfire & Mr. iceNfire), Lisa & Ken), you are seeing red flags everywhere in your friend’s case, and based on your description many of us see them, too.

Like TexasTart said, the most alarming thing for me is that the guy your bff plans to marry is calling all the shots, and on top of that he sounds like he’s nothing but Bait and Switch. You’re right, it’s a very tricky situation you and her other friends are in.

I hope it’s ok for me to butt in here. Some may say don’t say anything, but me? Well for better or worse I have a big, opinionated mouth. If I were in your shoes it would be hard for me NOT to say something, but after listening to people urging me to keep quiet I’d probably decide to approach the person with support and love and lots of questions to get her thinking. You see, my concern is her fiancé doesn’t want her to THINK, that’s why he has to decide everything unilaterally and not with her. My impression is that he wants her to let him be as impulsive as he wants to be, without any constraints. And while spontenaity is a good thing in a marriage, impulsivity is often not as it’s usually a sign of immaturity.

djprincess, you’ve already asked your bff why rush, and that’s an excellent question. It sounds like she answered with another question: why wait? Well, as much as you’d love to give her a whole list of reasons, as others have stated you don’t want to alienate her.

If I may suggest, I would follow up with other questions regarding whether they’ve talked about their expectations of what each person’s role in the marriage will be: have they talked about kids, have they talked about money, what’s his world view, how do they feel about family & friends after marriage? Has she met his family? I would ask with just a sense of curiosity, followed by a restatement of your full support of ANY decision SHE makes because you only wish happiness for her.

Speaking of which, even if I decided to skip asking any of the above questions I’d ask her this one: Which decisions is SHE making in the relationship?

Ok, I’ll shut up now. Best of luck to you and to your friend. 🙂

    • catmom1 says:

      Great advice chica.

      • L.A. Chica says:

        TY catmom1 🙂

      • Powell says:

        That really is.

        • L.A. Chica says:

          Thanks, Powell 🙂

The more I think about it the more my concerns for djprincess’s bff can be boiled down to two questions: Is her fiancé a pathological liar? She knows he’s a cheater (was it the first time?) and he pulls the bait and switch game, which is VERY manipulative. And pathological liars are nothing if not manipulative. It would not surprise me if he was the one who pursued her while they were with their former girlfriend/boyfriend. (And just out of my own curiosity I wonder how he was able to convince her that was a good idea.)

The second basic question is: What is bff getting out of this relationship? Is she getting any of her needs met? And I don’t mean materially, but emotionally and psychologically. It just feels from this side of the blog that she is being manipulated.

Sorry to go on and on, it’s just that human behavior and relationships is so interesting to me (probably because I’m always trying to figure these things out for myself!), and it’s one of the reasons I’m drawn to and fascinated by the Real Housewives shows.

          • Powell says:

LA Chica I think Kordell played a bait & switch on Porsha. I think she compromised thinking she could change his mind after they were married.

          • Lisa Renee says:

Hi Chica, I agree that is great advice. I am a straight shooter & learned the hard way what don’t shoot the messanger means. Maybe because I am older I told dj to say nothing & fake the funk. She can be there for her bff if it implodes or relief she held her opinions to herself when they don’t break up. Tough call, Lisa

            • L.A. Chica says:

You are much wiser than I, Lisa. And even though I’m older, too, I just can’t help my big mouth sometimes, and I have also learned that lesson about being the messenger the hard way.

But I have learned the question technique which prompts the person to think about what they’re really feeling about their situation and come to a decision themselves without feeling put on the defensive. I’ve always including telling them “You must do whatever is right for you, and if you’re happy then I’m happy.”

So far it’s been successful but I know there will be times when a friend will still make the wrong choice, and all I’ll be able to do then is to park my doubts aside, support them and be there for them.

          • djprincessc says:

Idk Chica if it was the first time but I know he had a gf for 7 years and they lived together and even bought a house together, I guess he hadn’t been feeling the relationship for a while but still lived with her and now the house they bought together is being foreclosed on. I also know that when he met my bff for the first months he wouldn’t tell her how old he was and when he finally did, he lied and said 35 and then later confessed to 37. lol.

He did purse my bff, they work together and he would come into her office and talk to her, they hung out first as friends and she told him she had a bf so he knew pretty straight away, after she told him she thought they were forsure only going to be friends because he still keep talking to her, I told her no way he see’s you as a challenge now, he doesn’t care you have a bf! And I was right. lol.

I do think she’s getting her needs met emotionally because she did say he’s the one she loves (which is the most about her feelings for him she’s ever said really) but I think its because of all the ideas he’s feeding her. She does seem happy but not excited which I feel is weird. I mean she did say when her and her ex broke up that her and her fiancee both thought that this was supposed to happen like it was meant to be, and that just didn’t sound like her to me. I think he’s painting a picture of this man who would stop at nothing to get her, dumped his ex of 7 years for her and asked to marry her the moment they got together because of this powerful love. When in reality I think she’s out of his league and he knows it and is scared that the more time she has to think about it, the more likely she’s going to change her mind.

      • iceNfire says:

Those are excellent questions Chica! My husband did meet my family the night of our first date and I met one of his brothers who was visiting from Thailand the next day. We both wanted a family and our own restaurant. Our main interest at the time was gambling…casinos, horses, football, (anything that moved) 🙂 that past time went out the window when we had our first son and we were focused on our first restaurant. Marrying 5 weeks after our first date was just right for us, I don’t recommend it and would probably lose a piece of my mind if my kids chose to do the same but I have always accepted the girls they choose to bring home. I live my life my way and now it’s time for them to do the same

        • Powell says:

I’m convinced you put the joojoo on your husband on that 1st date ice. He didn’t have a choice. :-D. No just teasing you. I’m happy you were the right one for each other & you’re happy. That’s all that matters.

        • Lisa Renee says:

Hi Ice, I saw your reply to dj this morning. 5 weeks & married. Wow, I love a happy ending 🙂 very cool love story, Lisa

          • iceNfire says:

Hi Lisa – Common goals are an important part of a marriage, the part about being ‘head over heals’ doesn’t last forever so ‘liking’ the one you choose to marry is every bit as important as being madly in love. – imo – The love is either there or it’s not, if it is then it’s okay to not like each other at times….peaks and valleys, we wouldn’t recognize happiness if we didn’t experience some valleys. Wow! Get over yourself ice! 😛

            • Lisa Renee says:

Ice, No need to get over your self. Anyone married for a long time knows to ride the wave when it is good. If someone calls the house & asks is this Mrs. So&so I always respond the same, yes it is……. this week! I love my DH stupid but I have disliked him at times. I have been hella pissed at him but do you divorce someone because they cut down your favorite tree because the flowers that you love fall into the pool, (which he hated) & reminds you of hawaii when you come back home from visiting your mom? Of course not. God took mercy on him because he is no landscapper & the tree grew back. Moral of the story we found money in the budget for pool maintenance. I get my flowers floating in the pool & he doesn’t have to scoop them out. Peaks & valleys indeed, Lisa

              • Powell says:

Lisa. This week. LOL. I don’t think your husband will make that mistake again.

                • Lisa Renee says:

Powell, no he hasn’t & he hasn’t held a meeting without me since. I do like to remind him at times that I need just one woman on my jury pissed at her husband & I walk lol, Lisa

              • iceNfire says:

This is So funny Lisa! On a slow day we should each post instances that did Not lead to divorce…I have Many! Funny now but Not funny at the time

              • Boobah says:

LisaRenee – I just love this post! LOL!!! You are very funny.

        • L.A. Chica says:

What a great story, iceNfire! Sometimes you just know it’s right, and it sounds like you both knew what you wanted and that your goals were shared. I wish you both many more happy years together! ❤

    • djprincessc says:

I know its super late LAChica, but I’ve had a long day today and just got to read todays blog comments, first I want to thank you for taking the time to give me such detailed input. I truly appreciate it and everyone else who cares as well, its nice to be able to ask opinions/thoughts from everyone here who are unbiased. My 2 hugest character flaws are my impatience and being judgmental, these are 2 things I work on daily. I have to constantly remind myself that not everyone wants what I want in life and not everyone thinks logically, which is why I had to ask everyone on here.

I do like your suggestion about asking those questions, I’ve asked a few but I haven’t asked those, as far as I know she hasn’t met his family I’ll double check though and I know that he’s only met my bff’s family very few times which is the complete opposite of my bff’s pervious boyfriends, this is actually a huge red flag to our other bff who finds that very weird.

The old me used to always give advice and my opinions, I was always the one everyone called when things went wrong but i learned that in the end no matter how much amazing advice you give that makes sense, everyone ends up doing what they want in the end which is usually the opposite of my advice. I am an extremely logical thinker, probably too logical, I try to live my life by common sense and keeping consequences in mind because all actions whether good or bad have consequences. I am by no means perfect and make mistakes all the time, but I never do things intentionally knowing that the outcome will be bad. I hope this all makes sense! I also got tired of hearing friends/people then complaining when things of course didn’t turn out right…

I decided I am not going to say anything because I know its not going to change my bff’s decision, we’re adults and she has a mother(who doesn’t agree with what she’s doing) and she has the right to do as she pleases, I hope it works out for her and her fiancee but I know that it won’t, I also won’t be there to pick up the pieces because like I said she’s an adult and should be able to see that the odds aren’t really in their favor.

I do love her to death, we laugh and act silly together and she’s had my back for 6 years now and what I’m scared about is that she’s so young, fun and pretty now that I don’t want him to take that away from her! We’re only young once, she’s in school to become a nurse and she has about 3 years left, somehow I feel that she won’t finish and end up getting pregnant. I just don’t want him to ruin all her dreams 😦

I hope I didn’t come off harsh in this post but I’m kinda confused about how I’m supposed to feel and like I said I do love her.

    • djprincessc says:

I do feel guilty though about throwing my bff’s business out here for everyone to see! And hope I’m forgiven for it, but its been eating at me and I’ve been feeling like I’m reading too much into things or maybe I’m just being bitchy. You know how we women get!! lol.

  14. Contessa says:

Kordell had way too much of a feminine side to him, with regard to helping choose her clothing and what she should and cannot say. He was more like a mean gf than a husband. In my eyes a husband is supporting and loving, especially through a miscarriage. I don’t take Atlanta women seriously, but the segment with Portia talking to the psychologist was heart wrenching for me. Simply sad. The one she should be talking to about this is her H and she seems like she can’t bring this up. I’ve heard and read the stories about him being gay (no issue about that), so who knows what the real story is. But to file for d right out the gate without telling her was reprehensible in my book. My x did that as well and it is a very life altering experience. I hope she finds happiness and hopefully those Atlanta hefers come to her support big time and forget all that crazy sheeet.

    • LaineyLainey says:

I agree Contessa, about not having an issue with him being gay, if indeed he is gay. I take issue with him fraudulently entering into a marriage with a woman who expected him to be and led to believe that he is a heterosexual. That’s the only issue I have with it, if indeed he is gay.

      • pat says:

I think in the gay black community, that’s where the phrase “on the dl” (down low) came from. Many gay men out there are still in the closet about their orientation. They want children and want to keep up a certain image by being married to a woman. So they keep it on the dl.

        • Powell says:

Well time will tell right unless he does like music mogul Clive Davis & wait til he’s in his 70’s and come out.

    • mrs peabody says:

I think he filed like that because she is not obeying him like a little puppy dog. She seems to be thinking a little bit more for herself and he doesn’t like it. That guy wants total control and if he can’t have it he’ll leave. I’m so glad he is because she deserves someone who is a partner not a controlling father. Like I said she’s a dingbat but a nice one and I like her.

  15. realhousewifeva says:

So, who’d you all think look the best on the BH reunion? I thought Yolanda looked the best she looked all season. I didn’t think Lisa looked great, I feel like her hair was sloppy. Kim was a disaster (IMO) That dress, her makeup, everything..it just didn’t look right.
Taylor looked good, Brandi looked good but I hope she stops getting work done on her face, Kyle’s hair was super shiny but I am not into the velvet dress.

I saw the ‘favorite shoe’ clip with the Atlanta ladies and i wonder if they were all told to wear long gowns? I think they look fabulous. I love a long gown, especially since all the housewives have overdone the short cocktail look to death. Cynthia looks amazing.

    • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I loved Yolanda’s hair, dress and her shoes were beautiful-I have to go look at the ATL ladies-I haven’t seen them in their reunion wear yet!!

      • L.A. Chica says:

I haven’t finished watching the reunion show and and barely started it on Monday night but right off the bat I agree with you about YoFo. I did like Lisa’s dress, too, it was something different for her, and I immediately noticed the toned down makeup on all the ladies as compared to previous years.

    • pat says:

VA, Yolanda would be my pick for best dressed, best “put together” over all, at the reunion. Lisa is so beautiful, but she looked a little exhausted, or maybe her makeup needed refreshing. I am SOOOOO sick of Kyle leading with her hair. We get it!! Your hair IS gorgeous, but do you have to fan it across your chest like it’s part of your dress, and constantly run your hand through it?

      • Contessa says:

Fan your hair across your ches t- LMAO here. She uses her hair as an accessory, I suppose if I had gorgeous hair I might do that as well. But the look is getting old for me, she needs to trim it, cut it or do something different. Kim – can we say disaster, that dress was simply horrible and the shoes – what was she thinking and couldn’t Kyle get a for real stylist to put her together? Loved Yo’s look, even though red is not one of my fav colors, but she looked put together. I liked Lisa’s dress as well. I have to take a much closer look at the dresses first before I do a final “review” – LOL. I do have to say when I saw a close up of Taylor her skin is to die for…whoever did her makeup on the show made it look flawless and effortless. It wasn’t too mat or too shiny. I am not a Taylor fan, but for some reason she behaved herself towards the end of the season. I don’t condone her going with her married BF, but it seems like something is having a positive effect on her behavior at the end of the season.

        • mrs peabody says:

she wants to come back next year and knows she might not if she doesn’t get her act together.

      • Powell says:

I really dislike seeing a woman constantly running her fingers thru her hair, smoothing it back, flipping it & Kyle does it all the time. pat I like your saying “leading with her hair”. That’s exactly what she does & it’s annoying. The next time I watch an epi I’m going to count how many times she touches her hair.

    • Powell says:

I agree w/your assessments. Lisa likes to wear clip ins so maybe she had too many in. I like the way Yo wears her hair, the new messy buns, her hair off her face.

      • melthehound says:

Lisa, to me, is looking sloppy these days. Her clothes are always way too tight and she has too much war paint on her face. Looks doll type fake.. At least in photos it does.

        • realhousewifeva says:

I agree, I think with all her money she could hire a better stylist/ makeup artist

          • LaineyLainey says:

I did not like her choice of dress for her vow renewals. Not because it was black, but because it offered no support for the “girls.” That’s cute on perky twenty somethings; but it didn’t look right on her.

            • Just Wondering in Jersey says:

I agree Lainey. It only emphasized her age.

              • Contessa says:

Yes her dress choice was kind of weird. It looked more like it belonged at a pool party, as opposed to a vow renewal. I think Lisa has a lot on her plate and needs a vacay. Running the restaurants, household, hW show, sur show and now dancing show – that is a lot.

    • kit9 says:

I thought Yolanda’s hair looked bad as usual because it’s in such awful condition but the styling was nice but dear god can the woman use a little styling lotion/gel to smooth her fly aways/split ends. It’s so straw like and dull. Stark contrast to Kyle’s gorgeous shiny hair. And, as someone who once had very long hair, you put it in front when sitting like that because otherwise you’re constantly yanking it every time you move your head. Or you pull it up to give some slack but have a sort of bubble behind you. Lisa’s hair, I agree, did look a bit messy. But the biggest shocker was how freaky Brandi’s face looked. My god, like a chipmunk.

  16. Boobah says:

Good morning everyone. Thank you NMD, BB, and Lisette for the blog today! I’m actually getting into DWTS. Although I haven’t watched a full show, I catch some of it. I think it’s because of Lisa – I want her to go far. I wonder if she was inline to go home last night before Dorothy Hamill pulled out. No matter, at least she’s got another week. Go Lisa!

    • Lisette (2) says:

I really wanted Lisa to go further if only to see Gleb shirtless a few more times. He’s not as sexy as Maks but he does fill that part of the sexy quotient missing since Maks has been gone.

      • Boobah says:

LOL! Gleb is a total cutie! Maks was also, you are right about that. But wasn’t he kinda a jerk? I didn’t watch enough to know if those were only rumors about him. I wonder what Maks is up to now? Thanks again for your recap!!!

        • mrs peabody says:

He seemed to be a bit toward the end of his time with the show but boy do I miss him, I was in love with him. His brother is a bit cute and it’ll be nice to have a season of him not fawning all over his partner since this one is jail bait. That was getting a bit old last year. I hope Lisa makes a few weeks but she really isn’t that great. I’m glad Dorothy dropped out since she isn’t going to be able to complete the season with her problems and I think it gives the ones remaining a bit more time to get used to this and hopefully enough time to relax a bit and improve some. I think considering they do not do this for a living they are all doing great. I couldn’t do it.

          • Boobah says:

I don’t think I could do it either, but it sure looks like fun! You are right, considering that that have very little time to prepare, they are all doing great!

      • pat says:

        I’ll second that! 🙂

      • Just Wondering in Jersey says:

        There’s always Val, Max’s brother.

  17. Good Hump Day Morning! Half way there everybody!

Thanks everybody for the blog today! I am glad for the DWTS recaps because i don’t have time to watch but like to know what’s going on. Thanks Lisette! And NMD & BB too! 🙂

I know I am late to the party (always a wallflower!), but I finally got a chance to watch the BH finale and Reunion last night and check the comments. I had so much to quip about, but ya’ll have said it all so eloquently. I just want to add a couple things: 1) did anyone else catch Kyle checking camera angles just before she started to cry when Addie showed up at Lisa’s party?!? I rewound it like 5 times and saw it each time. It is brief and easy to miss but…..just as they are sitting down on the couch, she looks up at the camera crew to make sure they are in place, then she sits and starts to “dry cry”. Very calculated! A little later in the convo Addie does the same thing checking camera angles. Sheesh…at least hide it better! Also, Addie…producer driven or not…should not have been there and her comments about Lisa not talking to her were so wrong, IMHO.

    2) Loved the pic that NMD posted in the recap of Lisa and Kyle talking and in the background there is a woman with her phone set to record them. A sign of our times!

    3) Kim is NOT sober. Her antics in the convo with Kyle were so out of context and over the top. Not the actions of a sober woman working her program.

Ok, that’s it for now. Another busy day today so I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and know I send Warm Thoughts and Hugs to all!

“Wednesday Humor Blog” is up at my place. Enjoy!
    http://fromthedeskofmardrag.wordpress.com/

    • pat says:

Mardrag, re Kyle checking for cameras before that crying “scene” …I also noticed that when the scene was “a wrap” and Adrienne was getting up to leave, Kyle got this gleeful smirk on her face, like she was so proud of herself for playing her role so well. She was probably thinking how she was going to spend the commission $$ when Maurio sold Ad’s home. Of course Maurio had to show up for that scene, too, and walk Ad out of the house. SO transparent.

      • Agree pat….Maury showing up for a “girls chat”…really? I know everybody likes him but that escort out to her car was also calculated…though I love me a man who is a gentleman. I just don’t quite buy that it is genuine with him.

    • $25,000 says:

Great catch about Kyle and Adrienne checking camera angles!

  18. realhousewifeva says:

I was watching the WWHL aftershow and someone called in and asked Kathy which housewife she would take on the road with her for her routine, and she said “Slade, of course”. LMAO

  19. Donna says:

The comments are interesting in this May 11, 2011 article on Kordell Stewart
    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/11/kordell-stewart-arrested-in-georgia/

    • realhousewifeva says:

      lol,..a couple funnies:

“I will eat my hat if some part of this story doesn’t involve a transvestite prostitute.”

“Did he have a “lady” friend passenger and did she have a 5 o’clock shadow? That’s the real question here.”

      • realhousewifeva says:

You should read his timeline on twitter (@KSlash10) On March 17 he was retweeting a bunch of people who were saying how beautiful him and Porsha’s marriage is, how he is a great husband who treats Porsha like a queen, etc.

  20. Powell says:

Nashville fans. The cast is on The View. Jewel is co-hosting & gave a lot of insight into Nashville. She said they are taping in the actual Grand Ole Opry’s dressing rooms, a guy that works at the Opry works on the show, the round table music sessions they have is how a lot of jam sessions are done. Very interesting.

    • lillybee says:

Thank you for letting me know. I love Jonathan Jackson, the guy who plays Avery. He is a great musician on his own. His band is Etown and is pretty good.

  21. AZGirl says:

Yolanda posted another blog and she is so articulate. Obviously, Kim did not write her blog. When I was re-watching the finale yesterday I really was disturbed by Kim’s behavior. She is not well. When Lisa and Kim were talking and Kim was acting crazy the camera panned over to Kyle and she had the most “freaked out” look on her face.
I love to re-watch the episodes because there are always “little” things that you pick up after the initial viewing.
At the end when they were taking a bite out of the cake being passed around Taylor took a huge bite and the cake fell off the spatula and onto the couch. Yolanda was freaking out.

    • Orson says:

Taylor should have gone for the prehensile lips option.

    • Contessa says:

I don’t like Kyle and have not liked her since season 1, I think she is childish and has a nasty streak. With regard to her being friends with the morally corrupt assinick faykr, that tells me who she is. Anytime Lisa tells Kyle why she is hurt and lists the reasons, Kyle simply says but I feel that way and it is honest. I had a friend like that that touted that entire honesty thing and she was a drunk to boot (a bottle+ of wine each night). When we were together in the evening, she was getting drunk and than would tout out all the things she found wrong with me. I said to her once if all these things bother you, why are we friends? She said because I am being honest and truthful. This is the same thing Kyle says to Lisa – when Lisa questions her about saying she is manipulative etc… and of course the big one never sticking up for her/supporting her. With Kyle it is always tit for tat. The only thing I feel badly about for Kyle is living through the nightmare of Kim’s life choices. They all need therapy as they are adult children of an alcoholic mother that raised them in a crazy way. Kyle looked like she wanted to slap Kim when Kim went off about Bandi ruining her life. Their family dynamic is very sick and has been this way for a very long time…they all need help. The only reason Kim is on that show is so Kyle doesn’t have to support her and she gets a paycheck. I hope they toss the addict next season as I find no redeeming quality in watching her at all. She adds nothing to the show at all. I do not want to watch an addict on a frothy gossipy women’s show, as I tune in for the fun. By the way that friend I had – I told her to kiss my a$$ and go bye, bye – best thing I ever did.

      • I also noticed how Kyle offhandedly brushed Lisa aside when Faye was attackeing her and then Brandi & all showed up. Lisa was trying to tell Kyle what Faye had said to her and Kyle actually said…”We have enough drama going on right now” and physically brushed her aside with her hand. I noticed Lisa left the group after that. It showed very clearly how Kyle truly feels about Lisa. You do NOT treat your friends like that!

        • Contessa says:

ABSOLUTELY – thanks for the putting the wording out there as I missed it and wanted to re-watch the epi. That was HORRIBLE for Kyle to say. More evidence about how nasty she is and she insulted her hostess big time by saying that and brushing her aside. Kyle made her bed and needs to sleep on the the thorns where she belongs.

        • L.A. Chica says:

I didn’t hear Kyle say that, good catch MarDrag! It’s still on my DVR so I’ll re-watch the episode when I eat lunch today.

Oh wait. Is that a bad idea? 😕

      • pat says:

ITA, Contessa. Kyle has never been a good friend to Lisa. And re Faye, as they say “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are.”

      • mrs peabody says:

I wonder what the other sister Kathy is like, if she is just the same as Kyle and Kim, yes I know she produced Paris Hilton and that should tell you what she is like but Kyle and Kim produced non-Paris Hilton kids and look at them. I don’t really see Kathy with them too much and I know she’s older so would have been out of the house way before them. I wonder if she is a screwed up as they are.

        • iceNfire says:

I don’t think the 3 Richards sisters are as close as they want everyone to believe. I agree the only reason Kyle wanted Kim on the show was for a paycheck And next to Kim Kyle looked good ’til my got to know her motives

          • nyc mama says:

That is my impression also. Kyle seems to want to portray themselves as the perfect family.
At the gallery opening Lisa and Ken left early to go meet Kathy and Rick so I wonder if that relationship was affected by the falling out between Lisa and Kyle.

Kyle is the type of friend we warn out children about.

        • Powell says:

I don’t know how Kathy is as a friend & sis but we’ve seen what kind of mom she is. I don’t think she believes anything Paris does is wrong. When Paris went to prison for 5 seconds Kathy & Rick thought the punishment wasn’t called for. Every time ges been engaged, 3 times, Kathy says to the media “we just love him”. It seems like Paris can do no wrong.

      • Catseye says:

So true about cutting your losses and moving forward with your life, especially when dealing with a rude, tactless addict of a “friend.” I wonder what Kyle was going to do to Kim in the limo, the time she outed her as a drunk? It looked to me like she WAS going to slap Kim’s face. It would’ve been interesting if Adrienne hadn’t been there to hold Kyle back.

        • Contessa says:

That scene where Kyle outed Kim for her addictions was full of hysteria and years of dealing with Kim. I think we saw a true picture of what Kyle has lived with regarding Kim. Kyle reached the end of her rope and I do believe if Ad wasn’t sitting there she would have smacked Kim right across the kisser.

        • Donna says:

I remember Kim saying something like “oh who drinks all day”, that is when Kyle went balistic.

          • kit9 says:

No, she went ballistic when Kim accused her of stealing her house. We’ve never seen Kyle even remotely drunk or tipsy.

  22. Powell says:

The View was good. Some of the cast sang and they were backed up by the band that plays on Nashville. One of the band members is Deacon’s guitar stand-in.

    • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Nashville has been on a long break right? Is it back tonight? I feel like I haven’t watched it in a long time!

      • Lisette (2) says:

If the previews are not a psych-out, it looks like Rayna and Deacon finally get it on. Those two are so hot together! I didn’t like Rayna with her husband and when he was revealed to be a cheat I liked him even less.

        • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

          I didn’t like Rayna’s husband either… I just love Deacon!!!!

        • cocfarm says:

Good God. Deacon is so stinkin’ hot. If Rayna doesn’t jump him, I will. Ssshhh…don’t tell Mr. COC Farm!

          • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I didn’t like that other guy she was working with-he was nothing compared to Deacon!!

      • Powell says:

It’s back tonight & Connie loves the story building w/Deacon.

  23. pat says:

Catching up on yesterday’s comments. To the point about speaking English in America, I believe Yolanda was coming from a good place when she encouraged the worker she spoke with to work on learning English. It’s the official language adopted by most states, and many other countries teach English as a “world language” as well. If you want to increase your ability to get ahead, study the primary language of the country you are calling home. Unfortunately, Yo might be fighting a frustrating battle with that line of thinking, living in Cali, where one of their own public school systems adopted a new language….Remember ebonics?

    • Contessa says:

      Hey Pat,

I sounded off about this yesterday, and I came to this country at age 3, had to learn English asap, as did my parents. We were grateful to be in a free country and no one was putting up signs in Polish so we could integrate quickly. I am so tired of people coming here and not learning the language – I say screw you and if I am politically incorrect, I don’t care. I lived through it, I honor and love this country and if you are living in it, learn the language. Good for Yolanda! She was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

      • mrs peabody says:

I agree with you 100% too, if you are going to make a country your home then for gods sake learn the dam* language. I find it an insult that you think you can move to my country and not learn to communicate with me in my language, I would not do that to you if I chose to live in your country. I’d be da*n sure to learn your language if I wanted to live there, I’d put that much effort into learning the language of the country I wanted to call home. AND that’s how I feel (in my Kyle voice)

      • pat says:

Yes, especially with this country being the melting pot that it is. I have great admiriation for emigrants who work so hard to learn a new language and better the lives of their families. NOT easy, and so many of them, like Yolanda for example, are often more articulate than Americans born and raised here.

      • Lisa Renee says:

Contessa, I saw that post yesterday. ITA with your POV & Yolandas. That man, if he takes her advice, could go from broom bitch to “foreman” if he could communicate with homeowners. The flip side when we traveled abroad we learned how to say at the very least, please, thank you, mine name is, where is the bathroom, good morning/goodnight & the most important how much. There is a story in the NY Daily news of how a mother of 7 drove off the road & ended up in a river. She called 911 trapped in her car & all she could say was “car, car, river”. 911 couldn’t find her or help her & she lost her life. Makes everyones differing POV’s moot & just a dam shame, Lisa

        • Powell says:

Lisa if just to avoid a tragedy like that, learn the language of the country you live in.

          • Lisa Renee says:

True Powell so true. When I saw the article this morning I thought about yesterday’s posts. Throws PC right out the window & why it is so important to learn the language where you live. It is something we were always aware of when we were in a foreign country & always got a driver that spoke both. But I am so crazy I asked DD what she would do when she was moving to MI for school & living alone if she were to choke on something. She eats in bed, makes me nuts. I came up with airhorn. Use in hallway & someone would hear & help her. It was all for nothing because she got a room mate, Lisa

        • L.A. Chica says:

That’s terrible, and so sad. I try to learn a few phrases before heading to a foreign land but if I were in a rental car and in an accident or needed the help of local police I’d be in a bad way. Actually, I was in Europe a few months ago and did need help. Luckily for me I was visiting with a friend who is fluent in the language so she made all the necessary calls for me and thanks to her my problem was resolved.

I do think that Yolanda was coming from a good place and was trying to be helpful, and imho she’s right. It would certainly be to that guy’s benefit to improve his English. What I bristle at is not what Yolanda said but the idea that we should demand that everything be only in English here. And anyway, I don’t think Yolanda was commenting on that one way or the other.

    • L.A. Chica says:

My view on this is slightly different.

Do I think people who move to the U.S. should make an effort to learn English? Absolutely! Just as if any of us were to move to a non-English speaking country we should attempt to learn its native tongue.

However, circumstances are not always so simple, and anyway history has shown that the second generation and beyond always speak English. English is our unofficial language and I’m fine with that. We are a polyglot nation of immigrants from one generation to the next, and I don’t think it’s necessary to make any language the “official” language. I have my reasons that I won’t go into now.

That said, I don’t have a problem at all with documents and signs in other languages. For one thing, I think it is helpful to those for whom English is a second language when it comes to questions concerning the law and binding contracts.

The other reason I don’t have a problems with signage in other languages is because as someone who travels a lot, and sometimes to other countries, I know that I appreciate having signs at ATMs, train stations, and bathrooms (yes, bathrooms!) in English. There’s nothing like standing in the middle of a train station in Tokyo, surrounded by signs in Kanji (non-Arabic script) to appreciate the signage you find in English. I thank foreign countries for not being jingoistic when it comes to their language.

So, in addition to our immigrant population we also have a lot of tourists from other countries, tourism being very important to our economy. And I don’t think we should be demanding that tourists learn to be fluent in English before they come here to spend their money. I mean really, that would just be SO French. 😉

      • lizzle says:

I think many people that come to this country do want to learn the language, but don’t know how to go about it. My friend in Colorado is the head of a non-profit that teaches English to Spanish speaking women. These women are the rock of their households while many of their husbands do migrant work and other labor and time intensive jobs. Some of these women also work and take care of the children, cleaning and meals as well. The reason for the non-profit is because like Yolanda says… these women can make their own lives better by learning English. To learn English, one must seek it out because so many people speak Spanish. These women go to grocery stores that are spanish speaking and hang out with spanish speaking friends and neighbors. But, if they get in trouble. Go to the hospital. Want out of an abusive relationship. Want to go back to school. Etc, etc. They face more difficulties and the language barrier makes it harder to expand their horizons. My friend loves working with these women and teaching them English. These women are extremely grateful to the agency and those who work there as she is always getting homemade gifts and food from these women.

As for American tourists in other countries…. I have my share of horror stories that I have witnessed… and one horrible story told to me by my uncle, who now regrets his actions. People are people. I have been around a few American ex-patriates that live abroad and don’t get with the culture of the country where they live… and there are people that come here and don’t want to integrate with society. I’m not sure that will ever change. But there are people all over the world that want to mesh with the society they live in, but don’t know how. I think outreach, patience and kindness are always in order when trying to help others learn about language. I have four years of Spanish from High School & college under my belt…as well as, two months travelling in Central America and guess what?… I still can’t speak Spanish. Learning a language as an adult is extremely difficult. That is why language immersion for toddlers and elementary students is the new fad. Yep… all subjects taught in Spanish (or whatever language you want your child to know)… it’s the hot thing with the parents these days.

      • melthehound says:

Nobody said anything about tourists in this country. It’s the people who CHOOSE to live here.

        • L.A. Chica says:

Yes, I agree with you about those who live here, but not everyone who is here lives here. For example, tourists use ATMs, too. I do believe it’s up to local businesses to decide for themselves what works best for their clientele, and as for government – well, I think it’s a question of cutting off the nose to spite the face to insist on English-only. JMO.

          • melthehound says:

Since I brought it up yesterday, here is my take on the ATMs. I blame the banks such more than the ‘people’. That magnetic stripe on the back of your card has all the information needed for a computer to best guess your native language. If your address is Mexico, then Spanish is your likely language. They could even fix it so you’re card could be programmed for the language of your choice. If they can put select language in the programming of the menu, they damn sure could put the simple line of code in to read it from the card. Cameras have language options. I can choose from any one of about 20 on mine including languages that don’t have ‘regular’ type letters.

            • L.A. Chica says:

Jeff, that is BRILLIANT! I love that idea! Now, why haven’t the banks figured it out yet? I’m very serious about this, it makes total sense. 🙂

              • melthehound says:

That’s why it annoys the shit out of me that *I* have to choose a language.

                • L.A. Chica says:

I get it now. Thanks for explaining. And if you know how to write the code for that kind of technology you could make a fortune!

              • Powell says:

Brilliant idea alright MTH but unfortunately that would be just another way the banks would charge ATM, credit card & debit card fees. The new fee now is when you use your card at some stores there is a $5 fee. All stores are not on board. The stores that are have to disclose it at registers, the cashier has to tell you before the transaction. Remember. I worked at a bank for many yrs & I’m tired of their crap.

                • melthehound says:

I’m sure they would figure out a way to charge for it. I already pay enough phucking fees to banks who hold MY money as if they are somehow Allowing me to use it and charging me or the privilege. I’m a conservative capitalist at heart but that’s ridiculous.

            • Realhousewifeva says:

Is it seriously that hard to select English? People will find anything to b*tch about these days

          • melthehound says:

BTW, L.A. Chica, I don’t want you to think I’m trying to pick a fight with you here. Not my intent at all.

            • L.A. Chica says:

Gosh no, I don’t think that at all! And actually I was just thinking that I hoped you didn’t think I was meaning to fight with you, either. 😳 I was using ATMs as an example because I’d remembered what you’d said about them and it stuck in my mind as a good example of something that people from all walks of life use, whether a resident or visitor. 🙂

              So we’re all good?

        • kit9 says:

Many many workers in the Southwest US aren’t permanent residents, they’re migrant or temporary workers. They have no desire to live here. They want to go home but need the work. Yolanda was being a jingoistic a hole. The man she was lecturing clearly spoke English. What got Yo’s intolerant panties in a bunch was when he spoke to his workers in Spanish. Yolanda had no idea if those workers spoke English or not before letting rip with her comments. Many immigrants in the Southwest do speak English, just not as their first language. She didn’t bother to ask, she just heard the dread Spanish and was instantly irked. Gee, you’d think with all her ‘this is America’ crap, she’d know a little something about the country she’s speaking for and especially the region where she lives. Spanish is a second language in the Southwest whether Yo approves or not.

          • LaineyLainey says:

Kit9 – I’m always so quick to tell you when I disagree with you…I have to also be quick to tell you – I agree with this comment. I agree with the spirit of your words. You aren’t saying that English isn’t important, Just as I am not saying that English shouldn’t be number 1. This is a melting pot. Other languages do exist and are spoken here. I’m proud to be an American; I’m also happy and super proud to live in a country where I can be free to speak another language if I need to/want to. My father served in WWII, my brother served in the Navy. Believe me, I’m USA, USA, USA!!! Of course, I was raised to be polite and not to make people feel left out. There are times, hoWever, when I’m asked at work to translate for some of our employees. “LaineyLainey” would you please sit next to MaryMary and SueSue to make sure they understand our new insurance program?” No one berates them for not being fully fluent…They are treated with compassion and dignity. But then, as I have shared with you, I work at a church where they live what they preach. I must say that when MaryMary and SueSue come to me to ask questions and if english speaking only people are around I encourage them to try to speak in english. But I feel comfortable doing so because I know they fall into spanish with me because it’s more comfortable. When I remind them, “English please, Paula is here…they say ‘oh yes, thanks for the reminder!!”

Yo said what she said…and even though I think she was a bit blunt, it’s Yo…she was on camera and she has a right to say whatever she wants. There will be some of us who don’t like the way she delivered the message. There are some of us who love it. As Kit9 said, she assumed that he was not TRYING to learn. That’s a little too presumptuous and too negative for me, in terms of how to treat a grown man and a fellow human being. He was doing a good job, so why pick at him, why point out the negative? We’re all grown-ups…has anyone ever scolded you (as a grown-up). It’s humiliating, isn’t it?

I have a funny story…one time I was with two other friends doing mani/pedi’s – – – our manicurists are all vietnamese. My friends and I all speak spanish fluently. The manicurists were speaking in their native tongue so I (in spanish) instructed my friends to speak spanish. So we did…and we were laughing…The vietnamese ladies all stopped cold and the owner (the one doing me) says, please speak in English. We said “YOU SPEAK ENGLISH!!!” the six of us busted up laughing. Kelly (my manicurist) says to me: “I didn’t like the way that felt!!” I told her “Welcome to 100% of your NONvietnamese clients!” We all had a good laugh about that. She did cut my cuticle a little too close that day. jk

      • mrs peabody says:

good point on the signs esp for tourists. I guess if I thought further than learning our language if you live here I am in agreement on the signs.

      • Powell says:

Not tourists LA Chica, residents. 9 times out of 10 when you go to school, apply for a job, go shopping, pay a bill, call 911, call a business, go to the doc, have your car repaired, catch a bus, other every day things, the person that will assist you speaks english. You read & hear stories from people that are 70, 80, 90 yrs old and they say they learned English by watching tv.

        • L.A. Chica says:

My immigrant parent learned English by having my siblings and I speak it. As a result, it was the only language I grew up knowing and now I feel cheated. 😉

Look, I’m in agreement with everyone here about residents needing to speak English. All I’m saying is that to object to the use of other languages in any way shape or form is to ignore the fact that not everyone here is a resident.

As for the residents, I think new immigrants need help, patience, and compassion to help them assimilate. The work being done by the non-profit that Lizzle described sounds ideal.

          • Powell says:

LA Chica I’m not saying that an immigrant living here should only speak English. They should be able to communicate & understand English. As a matter of fact they are in a much better position when they can use English & their native language in their daily lives.

    • Powell says:

I believe she was to & I personally think she is right. If I were to go live in another country I would only think it right to learn the language of that country.

  26. realhousewifeva says:

So Caroline’s book came out, I know you all are running to Amazon right now to purchase it. It has a whopping 4 reviews so far, and 3 of them are 1 star.
There is one really great detailed review and part of it says this:

“This book was her chance to redeem herself. In fact, I always thought that was what she was doing. Once this book was announced, she practically went on a P.R. campaign to undo the damage she had done to her own reputation. I thought this book would be the original Caroline the viewers fell in love with, but no. Not only is this still the same bitter woman – brace yourself, because she’s worse. In addition to bitter and nasty, you can now add pompous braggart to the description…

….instead, she rubbed in our faces (and her ex-boyfriend) that she drives Ferrari’s and Bentleys. She rubbed in our faces that her Facebook friend requests outnumbered the amount allowed by Facebook. And she says her real reason for writing the book is to “help people.” She lists all the ways she has helped people – it is positively mind-numbing.”

    • BB says:

Isn’t this the same woman who gives her man a free pass to cheat because, after all, he’s just a man?

      • realhousewifeva says:

She doesn’t care as long as she is driving Bentleys and Ferraris.

Here’s another gem from the reviews:
“She brags that Chris worked his way up to manage the Brownstone like Al. Really? In the real-world, no one would make a 22 year old kid the manager of anything except maybe Arby’s.

If you can get past the puffing and bragging, you might find yourself back in the 1950’s where she’s telling Lauren, her daughter, that she has to make her brother’s beds, do the laundry and clean the refrigerator. Yes, we all know Lauren cleaned the refrigerator, because then mommy and big Al had to buy her a lapband so she could lose the weight”.

      • pat says:

That logic was lost on me as well. She has a daughter, after all. I don’t think it’s ok, just because she doesn’t believe any of them turned into affairs. He’s still exposing her to STD’s, isn’t he?

        • BB says:

If she wants to overlook Al’s dalliances, that’s her choice, but she shouldn’t be writing advice or “help” books.

        • L.A. Chica says:

That AND he’s still betraying her and breaking his wedding vows!

Would he be ok with it if Caroline had flings that didn’t turn into serious affairs?

    • windycitywondering2 says:

Who ever told her to write an advice book was blowing smoke up her butt! On the bright side, those who buy this tripe can use it to light their grills when Teresa’s next cookbook comes out.

The first article says she loaned Kyle money……links to the second article where there is no mention of a loan but of the real estate deal…..
Huff Post, Yellow Journalism at its best, allegedly…no.

        • Catseye says:

I saw that myself yesterday. Lisa may not have “loaned” Kyle any money, but she sure helped pay for Kyle’s new house and those 2 brand-new cars she was showing off, early in the season.

          • princesspindy says:

Yes, they could have chosen any realtor but out of loyalty to Kyle she chose Morrie… I learned the hard way NEVER use a friend in real estate!! ippho

            • L.A. Chica says:

Really? Uh-oh, I have several friends who are realtors and have assumed I’d hire one of them when it was time to buy. What happened in your situation? What are the pitfalls?

              • princesspindy says:

Well, 20 year friendship down the drain, we had even owned a business together….. She just really showed her true colors and lied to me and was only concerned about herself. She was such a bitch to the couple when they came to do the inspection that I had to say “Excuse me” and take her into one of the back bedrooms and tell her off and tell her to get it together and stop acting like such a bitch. I thought the buyers were going to walk. To make it worse the couple happened to be the daughter of someone that my hubby had worked with years ago. That is what saved us cuz the guy knew my hubbys integrity. I came out and apologized to them, in front of her for her behavior and worked out what the issue had been and basically told her to leave. It was awful. She definitely did not earn the commission. And then she told me if I used a certain real estate agent down here she would split the finder’s fee they were giving her with me and I did and then when i told my re agent that after working with him and getting my house and how much she had given me and then he said, “Princess we gave her X amount” it was the last straw….she had screwed me over for the last time…. I had made allowances for her for 20 years…. (There was also an incident just before we moved where she was rude to my daughter, she was 5 at the time and that was really what made it easy to say “Adios MOTHERFKER”)

          • Powell says:

You’re right about that Catseye. And also allowing Kyle to have money to go into partnership w/Ailene to have her store.

    • realhousewifeva says:

But the bottomline is that the “feud” was about money (amount of Mauricio’s commission)and Kyle was correct that if she told her side she would look like the greedy little asshat she truely is!

  28. lillybee says:

I feel sorry for Lisa on DWTS. She has a new pro with no fan base unlike DL who is partnered with Karina who has a huge fan base. So out the gate, Lisa has a big handicap. Lisa did show a lot of class last night when she was the first to hug Dorothy after Dorothy took herself out of the show.

I voted both on my house phone and on my cell phone. NOW, when it was Donny Osmond, I voted on my house phone, my cell phone, my daughter’s cell phone, my son’s cell phone and my hubby’s cell phone, because as the future Mrs. Osmond (it could still happen) I had to help my first love (love at first sight when my Dad called me in to the living room to see him on the Andy Williams Show) win that sparkly disco ball trophy….. It was my wifely duty, wouldn’t ya know he’s the “wrong” kind of Mormon or I could have been a Sister Wife! Darn!!

      • BB says:

And they called it Puppy Love!

        • princesspindy says:

I guess they’ll never know, how a young heart really feels and why I love HIM soooooo….

          • iceNfire says:

lillybee – You are So right about that! I always vote my favorite ’til they get eliminated then I just vote for Derek Hough.. because i love him and i love him 😛

      • Catseye says:

Speaking of the Osmonds, I wonder what the heck Marie is on any more, that she’s so happy to the point of seeming drunk and giddy?

        • princesspindy says:

High on Life??? I haven’t seen her lately, I know she did something to her face and she did get remarried to one of her former hubbys…. If she is happy, then I am happy for her cuz I can’t imagine loosing a child to suicide…..

        • L.A. Chica says:

She is VERY bubbly. I’ve always thought she seems like a lovely person but after seeing her on her new show I wondered if she had had too much coffee that morning. Actually, I think she was just very nervous, and I can relate as I also tend to ramble and act a little hyper when nervous. Maybe as time goes on she’ll relax and tone it down, and not constantly tell her guest “You’re so cute!” 🙂

          • iceNfire says:

Years and years ago she admitted to taking anti-depressants. idk if once you start with those you continue for the rest of your life???

            • BB says:

Nope, that’s not necessarily true. Many people can have situational depression and take meds for that for a limited amount of time. My daughter and I both have taken anit-depressants and neither one of us take them now. And I’ve never had an anti-depressant make me act “bubbly.” Maybe I just wasn’t taking the right one. Marie also had a very very severe case of post partum depression. I think that’s when she went on the meds.

    • realhousewifeva says:

I also think she has been at a disadvantage having the ROoBH airing while DWTS is airing, people can forget to switch back to DWTS and vote. I did 😦 I watched DWTS dances the next day online.

    • Powell says:

DL is w/Cheryl who has won twice I think.

  29. BB says:

  30. princesspindy says:

So last night I watched The Voice and it was fun. Shakira and Usher were fun, she is really funny and cute. They all looked like they were having a good time and there didn’t seem to be the tension or “hate” that was there when Diva Christina was on…. Then I watched a TLC show called Six Little McGhees, about sextuplets… it was really cute, the kids are adorable but omg they are out of control, I kept thinking “Kate would never let her kids act like this!” They were born at 27 weeks…. They really are cute and it was fun. And the hubby and wife seem to really love each other… She had been pregnant with twins and lost them and then when she got pregnant again they couldn’t believe what the ultrasound showed.

About the finale, did anyone else catch Yoyo “running” out to the patio to get in on the action… 🙂

    • L.A. Chica says:

About Yo running, do you mean when TMCFR was insulting Lisa at her party and in her home? Yes, that was funny, and I was surprised to see Faye laugh, but Lisa was not amused. She was too pissed off to laugh, and rightly so. But as a TV viewer I did think it was funny, and I think possibly Yolanda saw how upset she was and did it in an attempt to change her mood.

    • realhousewifeva says:

Those shows that follow people who have numerous kids never seem to end well. Kate and Jon got divorced and then Jenny and Bryan Masche of Raising Sextuplets.

      • princesspindy says:

What happened to Jenny and Bryan? I think I watched them… I know it’s for the show but it seemed stupid to me that they went shopping with all the kids when they had helpers come. Why not leave the helpers at home with the kids and do the shopping alone…. I will google Jenny and Bryan….but I wonder what the divorce rate for multiples is…..

      • princesspindy says:

OMG, SHE cheated with a MARRIED friend, WTF!!! When did she have time, LOL!!!! That is soooo crazy!!! How sad!!!!

        • realhousewifeva says:

Yes, so crazy. He got in touch with her after seeing her on TV. Bryan says he would never do another reality show and it’s in their divorce contract as well. While I don’t condone cheating at all, I did think Bryan was a total ass.

          • princesspindy says:

I only watched a little bit so I didn’t really see what he was like….I would never go on a reality show…

      • Powell says:

Yeah I felt sorry for Jenny especially after Bryan had her move away from her support system so that he could go to real estate school to get his license. He seemed lazy to me. She went to work as a nurse everyday. Things were only done because of Jenny and her family & Bryan’s father. Did she move back home?

      • lillybee says:

I agree,I just finished watching the Duggars do Asia trainwreck.

    • Powell says:

I’ve watched the McGhees. The kids are cute & they seem like a great family.

I’ve only seen bits of the Voice. I wanted to see Shakira & Usher. The previews look like they have fun.

  31. shamrockblonde says:

a couple of years ago I was shopping in Bob’s, and while I was looking at some hideous shirts, I overheard a young boy – maybe 13, 14 say something to his Mother in Spanish – she did not reply – he asked again, and again, she did not reply so he tried a third time – and that time she walked over to him and wacked him on the back of the head – think of Gibbs and DeNozo – and said – “in english – speak english” he gave that sigh that is unique to only the age group of 12 to 16 year olds, and asked his Mother what time dinner was and that he was hungry – she smiled and answered him in English, the whole time with a the smile of someone who is very proud – it was really good to see –

and yes, Kim needs rehab, and Kyle needs therapy to deal with her feelings about Kim –

  32. Powell says:

I’m watching married to medicine. I promise you all. If I ever become rich I will not buy a Birkin Bag & a Herve’ Leger bandage dress & I’m on the fence about Loubitons. These seem to be the 3 staples in many rich woman’s closets.

    • realhousewifeva says:

I would totally get a Loubiton, but no way in hell I’ll spend 15,000 dollars on a bag, and those Herve dresses are so 2010, lol

    • LaineyLainey says:

They are the calling card of the noveau riche.

      • HuskerHuny says:

For me to spend that kind of money on clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, etc., I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror again. I dream of winning lottery-kind of money and the first thing I think of is how much good I could do with it. Please don’t make me out to be some kind of saint or anything, but spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on such trivial things just doesn’t make any sense to me. My church, my alma mater and the alma mater of my husband and children, my family, the non-profit that I work for and my hometown would be the better for my winnings. O.K., I will also pay off my bills and maybe splurge on a skybox at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln and some season tickets to other Husker sports to go with my football tickets. But I certainly would not waste it on designer anything – but that’s just me Jack (said in my very best Uncle Si voice)! But to each his own.

        • iceNfire says:

I’ve already spent my lottery winnings, just waiting for the winning ticket to come to me. I’m buying each kid a house and furnishings and a car. I’m buying my husband a house in Woodside California b/c that has always been his dream. idk where I will buy a house for myself but it doesn’t matter since I will be spending so much time on my private plane visiting husband and kids 😛

          • Orson says:

If I won the lottery, I’d probably rush out and buy some more socks. And get a new belt.

            • iceNfire says:

You would get along very well with my husband. When I buy him new socks he ‘saves’ them. When I buy him a new belt he views himself in the mirror then puts his old one back on.

              • BB says:

Mine too. Once he gets a type of shirt or pants he likes, he buys them in multiples and has them in his closets and drawers for years before he needs them. He likes a certain kind of shirt and shorts for the summer and a certain kind of shirts and pants for the winter and pretty much doesn’t waiver much. Me, I’m all over the place with my clothes. I like a variety.

            • Powell says:

              Too practical. 🙂

            • Orson says:

Oh, I might go on a splurge for some of those aloha shirts in the most blinding of colours. I want to make eyes bleed at 100 meters.

          • Powell says:

ice your family sure will have lots of houses. 🙂

        • melthehound says:

Doesn’t make any sense to me either but, I don’t buy bags anyway and I’ve worn the same pair of shoes for the last 6 years. Pay off the bills, a nice car, and some nice toys that won’t be out of style 3 days after I buy them (not that I’ve ever cared about what’s In style 😉 ). Grab my cameras, pack a bag, leash the hound, get in that nice car, and see the country up close and personal.

        • Powell says:

If I come into money I’m still going to the Nordstrom half off early sale. I’m no fool. I’m not saying I wouldn’t pay a little more for some things but some things aren’t worth the money even if you have Oprah money.

      • Powell says:

Lainey I like that you said that because its so true.

    • I’m cheap then because I spent $41.50 (20% off sale) on a new purse from Apt. 9. at Kohl’s no less! It’s bright pink and yellow. I’ve had 4 women compliment me on it since I started using it Monday. Birkin my a$$

      • iceNfire says:

Count me in, I only buy things on sale. The Ads in the Sunday paper are precious to me

        • BB says:

Me too. I drive my daugher nuts when we go shopping and I always go straight for the sales rack. I rarely buy things for the full price unless I really really love it and it looks great on me. I’m not stalking you Ice, we just seem to have stuff in common today. Lol.

      • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

DND-Kohls is having a sale now 30% off the promo code is JELLYBEAN -just ordered a bunch of stuff today

      • AZGirl says:

I got my last Nine West bag at Stein Mart for $30. Originally it was $80. It is so worn down but I still get compliments on it. Nine West wear well.
I also have a 20 year old Gucci that I just love.

    • L.A. Chica says:

The most I’ll spend on a bag is in the $200 range, and only if it’s high quality – that is, built to last. Any more than that and it would be a waste of good money, imho. But that’s what is relative to my income and lifestyle. Of course, to those who are super wealthy, spending thousands on a purse is nothing. It’s pocket change to them, I guess.

  33. shamrockblonde says:

nope – most expensive bag I own is a Michael Kors bag – I love it – I will however, spend quite a bit on sunglasses – Maui Jims, Vaurnet, and other Sunglass Hut styles have all been purchased by me at one time or another – shoes? believe it or not, I happen to like Paris Hilton’s line of shoes – and Aldo shoes –

    • realhousewifeva says:

Ahhh a girl after my own heart…I heart sunglasses. I’ve put down the money for my Versace, Gucci and Chanel sunglasses :/

The most expensive purse I’ve purchased was around $600. And i’m saving up for a Chanel. But the max I would spend is about $2,000.

I love shoes, but I can’t imagine spending hundreds of dollars on a pair, unless I was super rich.

      • Catseye says:

I bought my Chanel handbag and sunglasses on ebay for a fraction of what they cost brand-new.

        • realhousewifeva says:

I always think about doing that, but how can you be sure they are real?

          • Just Wondering in Jersey says:

Always read the seller’s feedback as it will give you an idea of whether or not the seller is honest. I prefer not to buy from anyone with less than 100% feedback.

          • melthehound says:

You’re pretty well protected on ebay these days. As JWIJ says, rely on the feedback. Since sellers can no longer leave negative in retaliation, buyers tend to be more honest. That is, once you filter out the ones who are bitching that they didn’t get something for nothing. Also, know how to spot a fake. Don’t buy from anyone who can’t be bothered to post clear photos either.

            • Catseye says:

True and Paypal protects you too. Plus, I think ebay has been sued in the past for allowing people to sell unauthentic items.

      • Powell says:

I love sunglasses. I love clothes, shoes & accessories. I’m also watch obsessed. I try to get a new one every other yr.

        • Realhousewifeva says:

I love all those, except watches. I have a movado that I never wear (it was a gift).

    • BB says:

I get my sunglasses at the dollar tree or on sale at Kohls. Everytime I buy an expensive pair I either lose them or break them somehow. Never again.

      • iceNfire says:

http://www.overstock.com for sunglasses. You can select by brand, lowest price, or biggest savings. I got a $150. pair for $9.

        • iceNfire says:

Oh, they changed it. The biggest savings is no longer an option

        • Vegas Chick says:

Just prior to my divorce?? I bought a pair of Cartier sunglasses for approximately $400. It was my way of sticking it to my ex. After the divorce, I bought a Kate Spade that I absolutely love. I truly believe that, every once in awhile, we need to just go for it. I am considering buying a knockoff Birkin but can’t bring myself to paying that much for something that isn’t the real thing.

      • melthehound says:

So do I.. I am still pissed that I lost my ray-ban wayfarrers 4 years ago after having them for about 10 years. I absolutely hate losing things that I’ve paid money for. I paid $30 for them in an Arizona convenience store and now I can’t even touch the frames for less than $90.

        • AZGirl says:

I have Ray Bans and they are about 15 years old. Love them.

        • Powell says:

I want a pair of those MTH. I was going to get a pair last Spring & didn’t. I saw a two-tone pair. Macy’s has a Ray-ban section & Nordstrom has some nice ones also.

        • iceNfire says:

We always had dozens of sunglasses in our lost and found box when we had a restaurant. I don’t understand people that don’t bother looking for ‘lost’ sunglasses

          • Rebecca says:

LOL – I once had a friend that said when you go to Disneyland, go to Lost and Found and describe a pair of sunglasses. They get so many they probably have whatever you’re looking for.

One Saturday morning I got a phone call from an enraged and indignant then 4 year old nephew. It seems my SIL was out for the morning and my brother had breakfast duty. When nephew asked for breakfast, brother told him “You know where the oreos and the soda is. Fix your own breakfast”. So nephew explained to me how his father was supposed to scramble him some eggs, make him some toast, and pour him some milk and orange juice. Then brother was given the phone so I could properly scold him.

          • realhousewifeva says:

                  • iceNfire says:

wait – did i just confuse you with RR’s little ones?

Me and RR both have 2 girls-mine are 12 & 6 and hers are I think 5/6? My 12 year old(almost 13) can make a few things on the stove and she is a microwave expert but when dinner time comes they want Mom’s cookin’!!

                    • iceNfire says:

Oh I Hear That! Everyone here knows how to cook but somehow/someway dinner is Always A Mom’s thing

My daughter bought a really nice suit from the 80s for about 5 bucks and I turned it inside out, took out the shoulder pads and tailored it and made it look like a modern Armani. She said, “I didn’t know you could do that” and I said, “Neither did I!” lol

um my eye wandered to the articles on the right (those ALWAYS get me dammit!)–
and there is our KOO KOO Kelly trying to emulate and wear like last year’s Versace Elle McPherson, her sworn enemy.

Poor Koo Koo, she is seething with envy over Elle’s new engagement! Ha

  38. AZGirl says:

AZGirl’s brother is on a plane heading here from Chicago. He is so excited to get out of the cold. It will be fun. I have some great hikes and trips planned. Obviously, Sedona. But I am surprising him with a road trip down to San Xavier de Bac Mission. He is a photographer so it is a great setting. Then we will drive through the Saguaro National Monument and stop and have a picnic. Hiking on Saturday up Peralta Canyon and then Sedona on Monday. Unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow but he is going to rent a car and do his own thing for a day,

Adrienne said she wanted to leave with dignity….so she talks to PerezHilton?

      • AZGirl says:

And she sponsored the birthday party with that stupid Vodka that she trying to sell. Consider the source.

      • nyc mama says:

Good evening everyone. Finally an (almost) spring feeling day here.

Considering she/Zing vodka just sponsored aka paid for his birthday party I will take this with a grain of salt. No surprise she is now “talking” to Perez. There is a story today on ROL stating that Brandi is the reason she left RH.

Also what gag order? “There was no lawsuit” so what would the gag order be about? If she is referring to her divorce then all she had to do is say she can’t talk about it. Just another Adrienne lie and it was probably the advice from her spin-doctor Howard Bragman to not attend..

She left Kyle out to dry after Kyle spent the season defending her for something that was already known (the surrogacy). There is supposedly an article from several years ago that mentioned her surrogacy although I haven’t seen it myself so I can’t say for certain.

She has no dignity to defend after the way she behaved for the last 3 seasons including the way she treated her former husband (long before Brandi came on the show) and planting stories/lies in the tabloids about those who she felt wronged her.

        • nyc mama says:

Sorry AZGirl, I didnt see your post before I posted mine.

        • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

NYC-who is Howard Bragman? I think the gag order is about her divorce b/c I read somewhere that she said she didn’t trust herself to keep quiet-I’m calling bullshit on that-she should have been there and she wimped out.
Totally off topic-I went to Times Square Discovery yesterday with my daughter and nephew to see the Harry Potter exhibit-it was great! We didn’t have time to go down to the village but I told them about the grilled cheese place and now they are both dying to go!!

          • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

I just googled Bragman-he is pretty “High power” for a HW but I guess her whole family is on his client list?

            • nyc mama says:

He worked wonders for Camille but not doing a good job with Adrienne but then again Camille wasn’t planting stories about her husband and “friends” and didn’t have a dirty chef working for her. She also was the maligned party with Kelsey so he had more to work with. Sometimes you can’t make a silk purse out of sow’s ear.

Hy/sb Hi. I hate this keyboard on the laptop.

          • nyc mama says:

Hye Jill, Bragman is a spin-doctor/pr person who was in charge of helping Camille change her image last year. You have probably seen him on talk shows (he likes to listen to himself) and he was on a few epi’s of RH last year too. Adrienne is a client of his now. He isn’t giving her good advice IMO.

            Here’s his website. http://www.howardbragman.com/
There;s a pic and you may recognize him.

I also just rewatched the finale and something that Faye said just hit me. How is she Kyle’s children’s “God mother”? The kids are Jewish and in the Jewish religion there is no equivilent to God parents.

I was thinking of the grilled cheese place just the other day but I havent been for a while. I just found out my a restaurant I liked on 14th street that specialized in meatballs no longer exists – I hope the Grilled cheese place didn’t suffer the same fate but I haven’t heard that it did so it should be there for your next adventure.

My friend is coming to NY in 2 weeks from abroad with her son and we are all going to the Potter exhibit. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it so now I know it’ will be worthwhile to take him.

            • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

The exhibit is great for Potter fans-I watched and read all with my daughter so I guess that makes us both fans. We went a few years ago but wanted to go back to see the new stuff they added. We had a great time-you can really take your time looking at everything and they don’t let in too many people at the same time.

              • nyc mama says:

Thanks! When I took the kids a few years ago I had one who was wasn’t feeling well so didn’t get to see much of it except the bathrooms. 😦 This time I will. I promised her son I would take him for a frozen hot chocolate and a foot long hot dog at Serendipity’s so that is the meal plan for the day but I will see if the grilled cheese place is still open when we are downtown and let you know if I do.

                • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Serendipity is always a fun place to bring someone!! The city was extra crowded yesterday-we walked by Bryant Park in the late afternoon and a gazillion people there-and it is stil chilly!!

                  • nyc mama says:

Sounds you had a great day!! I think everyone has cabin fever at this point so yesterday and today being relatively warm people are finally just getting out.. That is how I felt today so went out and just walked and walked and…

                    • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Spring time in the city is great…now we just need spring! It’s getting closer-longer days and finally sun and a little warmth!

                    • nyc mama says:

Thankfully Jill but it can’t come soon enough. I just want 60 degrees. Is that asking for too much?

  39. NJBev says:

Is Melthehound aka Jeff around? Does anyone know what Philip
aka Pinky does in real life?
This guy is pissing me off so much I can barely stand to watch the show

    • NJBev says:

nevermind-I found Jeffs link from the blog

      • iceNfire says:

        What is the answer/link plz?

        • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Isn’t he really a federal agent? I find it hard to believe but I guess anything is possible!

          • Realhousewifeva says:

No I think he was years ago, like the 80’s or 90’s. and it was just a couple years, nothing like what he made it out to be. I could be totally wrong but for some reason that is what I remember

            • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Well that seems like a more likely story-according to himself he is marvelous!

          • melthehound says:

Apparently, he went to school to work in the FBI or something like that. According to PrincessPindy last week, that was confirmed at the finally of his last season and that he’s quite book smart. It didn’t sound like he had ever been a field agent though. Special Ops, No. Spy? No. Except in his mind. His Bio states he’s the CEO or COO of a software company, which really doesn’t mean much to me.

        • NJBev says:

          Phillip Sheppard

  40. Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Rodger’s hair is not MAJ…at all!!!

  41. BB says:

Thanks for all the get well wishes everyone. I’ve been sleeping alot today and feel a teensy bit better. Hopefully this won’t be a long drawn out thing and I’ll be over it in a couple of days. I’m watching Duck Dynasty. This is the mallow dog episode.

Cityside, I haven’t gotten the car seat installed yet but my daughter has bought the base part for me. She’s going to take about 3 months maternity leave so I won’t get the babysitting duties until sometime in July.

    • chismosa says:

BB hope you’re feeling better, i went out actually finally today, got some mucinex to try instead of what i was taking before. Seems better.
Something is going around here in my parts, partly fever/ lots of coughing. My friends’ kids had it, i did not get it from them, but it must be going around.
Cause i eat my garlic clove a day and raw honey a day to keep things at bay and i caught this beyotch!
      Feel better!

  42. NJBev says:

    oh good God.
I just got a call from my daughter (lives at college)
she went to the movies with 2 of her Sorority sisters
and came out from theatre and all her windows were opened and
someone broke the front door lock.
Nothing stolen. car registration and insurance left sitting on front seat.
    (im concerned about ID theft)
    Police on the way
Several other cars broken in as well..

Can anyone tell me what they think might be going on?
It’s 12;15 est. I was going to bed and now I have to keep
phone by me so as not to disturb the Hubs. (he had a very
bad weekend, spent in ER and Hosp. with severe chest
pains and has already suffered from major Heart attack)
I need to protect him from this aggravation.

    any opinions greatly appreciated.

    • LaineyLainey says:

Oh NJBev…Re: your daughter’s car: that is terrible. On the plus side, NO ONE WAS HURT. Thanks be to God for that. I don’t know what to make of the state of how it was found. Nothing missing. All windows open.

Re: your hubby – gosh I’m so sorry. I will be praying for you, hubby and your girl. May you be protected and find a sense of hope and comfort.

    • princesspindy says:

Could just be vandals, some kids get off on breaking stuff….I wonder how they got the windows down if they were electric…. Insurance will repair the lock and there is no reason to worry hubs!!! I am so sorry that he has been having these problems with his heart. You both have had a lot of stress these past months!!! Hopefully it is just assholes doing stuff. I would be more worried if it was just their car. There are others so it is not like they were targeted….. Just have her get it taken care of tomorrow and tell him when it is all over and done with and he is feeling better. ippho

    • LaineyLainey says:

I’m with PPindy, it was assholes. for sure.

    • melthehound says:

It’s likely they were looking to smash and grab whatever they could. Anybody who left valuables in their car, can bet they are gone.

      • princesspindy says:

        Yep!

      • princesspindy says:

Actually that happened to my son, they broke the window and took the girl’s purse that was with him when they went to the park, middle of the day. I was soooo pissed that she was so stupid as to leave her purse in the car, visible. Was she raised by wolves, what woman doesn’t know that??? I had to explain to my son you put the purse in the trunk! Her stupidness combined with his, cost me $100 and I KNOW that her $5 purse didn’t have ANYTHING worth stealing UGGGHHH. Dumbasses!!

        • NJBev says:

Thank You Thank You Thank you.
They broke the lock to the front door. But rolled down the windows(electric)
how? and why is the mystery, They took nothing. She had her Garmin in
the car and a brand new Michael Kors bag that was left. Of course the
car is(was) disgusting and I’m sure the thieves couldn’t find anything
if they wanted to. The bag was still in the Lord and Taylor box from xmas.
The Garmin prob under some other crap.

I think Pindy is right. It was probably Vandals looking for a thrill.
I was more annoyed that at age 20 she called us at 12;30 am
to tell us what happened and to ask us what to do. And then,
did not listen to what I said. (but she did get report, she said,
and I gotta wonder how she did that in 5 min.) But, and plus,
I have connections with that certain PD and could have made
sure EVERYTHING was taken care of.

          child of mine-
Don’t ask if you’re not going to do!!!

    • chismosa says:

Oh NJBev i hope it is nothing too bad. Just tell your daughter to be extra-vigilante in the future. Our local news here in NY for some reason always reports on New Jersey things so if there is ever a ‘string’ of little break-ins such as these we may hear about it. I hope it is a random case and not anything to get too nervous about.

Please don’t tell your hubby! I agree- stress will trigger things, i’m sorry i’ve seen it happen now to about 5 people i know. Heart attacks along with stressful events at the same time.

      Good luck!

      • NJBev says:

        Thanks chi!
        I appreciate it.
Hubs did answer the phone but actually
listened to me when I said “hang up I WILL handle!”
She is already back to her apt. at school,
and I have informed her she will be paying for the
        new lock.
(if a college student can afford to go
to the movies once a week-she can pay for the
        new lock) don’t you agree?

I think I’m most annoyed now about the fact
that I expected to be in bed and asleep by 1am
and I know I’m going to have trouble going to
        sleep tonite.

Wish me luck- all I wanna do is have some
        sleep.
        thanks again !!xo

        • Jill...no not THAT Jill says:

Bev!! What a fun night you had-NOT! I hope you were finally able to get some sleep. (And FYI-I agree-if she can afford the movie she can afford the new lock).

  43. princesspindy says:

I’m watching RZoe and Roger is such a baby.

    • chismosa says:

Hey Principessa! i am a 1/2 hour from last week behind and didn’t watch tonight so i’m just going to have to catch up some time, it’s getting lame- i feel RZ doesn’t have her celebs anymore, as she attempts to become the next Victoria Beckham and i feel it doesn’t hold my interest as much. I think her ratings are down but i’m not sure what to believe.
Can’t believe Demi Moore left her for Brad ps.

RoDger IS a baby, looks like a baby with that haircut. And it kind of makes sense to me that Rachel would do best when surrounding herself with a closest assistant that is tough as nails. That MANdana/Madonna is essentially Taylor from the earlier seasons (whom i ADORED)- with darker hair and the same exact makeup pallette on. Both tough little beyotches to boss Rachel around. Rodger doesn’t do much for her. Rachel did not do well with her lovey-dovey (usually gay men) assistants who she adored. Those all left or had to be let go.

It’s funny, her assistant ‘Jeremiah’- (who dear God i hope Andy is not giving his own show to cause i thought i heard that)— is practically engaged to:
Nate Berkus, who >>>> was practically engaged to Brian Atwood, that super handsome former model, looks very Latin, shoe designer, who is super old friends with Rachel.
      Small world out there!

      • princesspindy says:

I liked her first assistant so much. I thought for sure she would kill Brad, lol!! I just am pissed cuz I keep forgetting that Southland is on at 10 and end up having to watch it at 1am…. I kind keep Brad on in the background, same with RZ, her voice gets to me, lol. I think Roger is annoying in addition to being a big baby!

        • NJBev says:

It boggles my already addled brain
that Zoe still has a show?! wtf?
it sucks- RoDger is the one directing
the show, as he creates/plans all the
          drama.
Watching Zoe run after the baby in
          the park with those HORRIBLE
things on her feet last week made me
want to punch her. No wonder Nicole
Richie made so much fun of her.

          The very original review for
          “the rachel Zoe project”
          in People Magazine said
          (i paraphrase)
“The Rachel Zoe Project” should be called
the “Brad and Taylor show” since they
are the only ones worth watching.
Rachel is a non entity in her own show
and about as interesting as watching
paint dry., People Magazine was right.

Nytol. xoxox thanks for the advice and help

I loved Nashville tonight. Jonathan Jackson had a decent storyline for his character Avery tonight.
BTW I am in love with JJ from his work on GH.
