Here we go. Stars99 will be blogging this one for us, and she’ll be bringing the snark. Johanna (our new blogger for It’s a Brad Brad World) will be blogging the blogs. We figure snark will be the only way to get through Season Eight of the Original Housewives series.
After Orange County we’ll have the second hour of the Beverly Hills Reunion. I believe Paul Nassif taped a segment for the show. It won’t be with any of the others – he was out of town when they filmed the main reunion.
As a preview for OC ….

Bravo’s original series that started the hit franchise, The Real Housewives of Orange County, returns for season eight on Monday, April 1 at 8pm ET/PT. Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Barney, Gretchen Rossi, Alexis Bellino and Heather Dubrow are joined by fresh-faced, level headed and surprisingly direct OC heiress Lydia McLaughlin. Reeling from the repercussions of last season’s epic clashes, the series once again ventures behind the gates for a scandalous look at the loves and lives unfolding inside one of Southern California’s wealthiest communities.
Vicki Gunvalson finds herself on a roller coaster of emotions, celebrating the highs of being a new grandmother to Briana’s new baby boy, while struggling to make her controversial relationship with Brooks survive. Her “southern beau” is once again the center of scrutiny and causes rifts among Vicki, her family and friends.
Tamra Barney’s life was paradise at the end of last season, as Eddie proposed on the beaches of Bora Bora. But reality starts to sink in when the couple moves in and struggles to merge their separate lives. Between the challenges of trying to open their fitness studio and the stress of trying to plan a wedding, their bumpy road is made even worse by the fact that the more Tamra pushes to set a wedding date, the harder Eddie pushes back.
Wedding bells and babies are on Gretchen Rossi’s mind. With her boyfriend, Slade, landing a job as a radio DJ, the path is paved for Gretchen to take the next big steps in her life. But starting a family isn’t as easy as she had hoped.
Heather Dubrow’s life as a stay-at-home mother takes a sharp turn as offers for acting roles on two popular sitcoms roll in. Although she’s thrilled to be acting once again, trouble comes from the most unexpected source, her husband, Terry, when what should be a dream opportunity turns into the biggest challenge their marriage has faced.
Alexis Bellino is once again the center of controversy between the ladies. Feeling bullied and betrayed, Alexis turns to Vicki for comfort and friendship. But it’s new Housewife, Lydia, who appeals to Alexis’ faith in an effort to achieve forgiveness – with surprising and mixed results.
Newest Housewife Lydia McLaughlin joins the cast this season, and while she comes from a wealthy family and admits to living a privileged life, she is anything but reserved. She, along with her husband, Doug, owns and operates a high-end magazine that highlights the glamorous life of Southern California. Being a devout Christian, she has much in common with Alexis and lends a hand of support when the ladies turn on her yet again.
After leaving the show four seasons ago, original Housewife Lauri Peterson makes a surprising return, rekindling her friendship with some of the ladies and revealing shocking information that will rock one of the wives’ worlds.
Meet this Season’s housewives:
Alexis Bellino – Having joined the cast during Season 5, Alexis Bellino is a stay-at-home Christian mom who unabashedly lives life on her own terms. Originally from the small town of Hannibal, Missouri, Alexis recently purchased a new home with her husband, Jim. Alexis and Jim have three young children — 7-year-old James and 5-year-old twins, Melania and Mackenna. While Alexis is still trying to successfully run her dress line business, she has quit her news correspondent job to focus her attention on her family and marriage, as well as to support her husband’s burgeoning trampoline park empire.
Gretchen Rossi joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Orange County in Season 4. The budding entrepreneur grew up in La Crescenta, California, and attended Baylor University in Dallas, Texas, where she studied Psychology. After struggling with their relationship last year, Gretchen and her long-time boyfriend, Slade, are stronger than ever. With her signature Gretchen Christine line taking off, Slade has started to veer into a new profession, hosting a local radio show. Simultaneously, he and Gretchen are focused on the well-being of his son, while also contemplating the future of starting their own family together.
Heather Dubrow, a former actress and now stay-at-home mother of four, joined The Real Housewives of Orange County in Season 7. Married to prominent Newport Beach plastic surgeon, Terry, they have four children — 9-year-old twins Nicholas and Maximillia, 6-year-old Katarina, and 2-year-old, Collette. After toying with the idea of returning to her acting roots and rediscovering her creative side, Heather is ready to make a return to the small screen, landing guest roles on current hit sitcoms. As much as Heather loves being a mother, she struggles to find the balance between work and family, especially when Terry falls short in his duties as dad.
Lydia McLaughlin joins The Real Housewives of Orange County in Season 8. Lydia is the granddaughter of Canadian media mogul Geoff Stirling, founder of NTV, the first 24-hour television station in Canada. Lydia and her husband Doug live in Dana Point with their two sons, 4-year-old Stirling and 2-year-old Maverick. This young, kooky mother always puts her family and faith first, but in her spare time, she and her husband channel her grandfather’s entrepreneurial spirit by running a magazine highlighting the glamorous life in Southern California.
Tamra Barney, a Southern California native from Glendora, CA, joined The Real Housewives of Orange County in Season 3. She has four children — 26-year-old Ryan, and three children with her ex-husband. Since getting engaged to Eddie last year, Tamra and her children have moved in and taken over Eddie’s bachelor pad, but not without some tension. While Tamra hopes to get married sooner than later, Eddie has other ideas, which leads Tamra to wonder if he wants to marry her at all.
The “OG of the OC,” Vicki Gunvalson is the original housewife and has appeared on The Real Housewives of Orange County since Season 1. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Vicki currently lives in the gated community of Coto de Caza with daughter Briana and son-in-law Ryan, and their new baby boy, Troy. Currently in the final stages of her divorce from Donn, Vicki is completely revamping her life, starting with a complete makeover of her house and a little “tweaking” to her face thanks to plastic surgery. She’s also “taking a break” from her relationship with Brooks, primarily due to the scrutiny and disapproval she receives from her family and friends.
