A big thank you to Amy and Johanna for blogging Fashion Night by Bravo – it was a short season, but a fun one
Rachel Zoe Project by Amy
Well it’s the season finale, seems like it really just flew by. We open on Rachel and Rodger in bed with Rodger bothering her again about having another baby. He uses the “you’re not getting any younger” argument. (Seriously!) At the office everyone talks about Rachel’s new book. To prep for her cover photoshoot, some of the ladies are looking through Rachel’s archives for outfits. Rachel talks again about how she is uncomfortable being out front and visible. She wears the dress that William brought from London and really wants it to be the cover dress but feels that it’s too structured. They try to get Rachel in color but she is not a fan, especially when it’s pink. They get in her in the pink dress and she immediately has to change her nail polish. She feels like Barbie.
William arrives with caviar and Rachel says “caviar and couture” make a perfect day. (Personally, I find caviar disgusting but that could be due to my unfortunate memories of raising trout from eggs in my ecology class. I’ve been told the proper way to eat it is on buttered bread though.) The assistants move one of Rachel’s rugs and hope she won’t notice and freak out. Rachel changes into a gold lamé dress. She mentions that she wore gold lamé for her Bat Mitzvah and says ‘it was the 80s!” (My only experience with it was the pair of velcro gold lamé sneakers my grandmother used to wear.)
Rachel talks about how she has changed in the last few years. William talks about glamoflage, choosing an outfit to display a character. Skyler appears and Rachel is so excited. They want to have a family portrait done for the book. They dress Skyler in Gucci (of course). She and Rodger reminisce about when Rachel started styling and how far they have come as a couple.
Rachel is working on her lookbook. Rodger goes shopping a children’s clothing store because he is tired of Skyler wearing designer. He wants Skyler to look cool and have fun things to play in, instead of cashmere. Michael comes back to LA to work on the lookbook but first Rachel must show him her closet. She says she still loves getting lost in her closet, like she did in her mom’s closet when she was little. She calls her mom the “Jewish Elizabeth Taylor”. She talks about how she had to wait this long to have a child because she “had to be an adult first” and talks about how much she loves Skyler.
After her closet adventures, Rodger comes in with Skyler in his new clothes. Rachel can’t believe the clothes that Rodger has bought. She tells Skyler he can wear them for sporting and on Sundays with the boys. But admits that he looks cute in a Grateful Dead t-shirt. The commercial interlude is Rachel and Rodger talking about their childhood in Skyler’s play kitchen.
The day of the lookbook shoot and they want it to be contemporary. Rachel wants to be thought of as a fashion designer and stylist. She wants people to buy her clothes because they love them, not because they are her clothes. She wants her style to be a little tougher looking. Rachel says that it’s unbelievable to her when she is styling her clothes on a model. They hit upon a look that no one can agree on. They finally switch out a sweater for a jacket and suddenly everything works. Rachel says she loves being a designer and she wants to keep trying. This season was definitely focused on the two newest parts of Rachel’s life, Skyler and her collection. While I’m not sure most people are interested in those, I think Rachel and Rodger’s personalities work well enough to keep the show engaging. It’s been fun blogging for everyone thank you for reading!
It’s a Brad, Brad World by Johanna
Season finale time!! The episode starts in Brad’s office. They are preparing to fit Stacy Kiebler. Brad has been working with her for about a year. They will be fitting her for the American Music Awards. She will be presenting and Brad will also be doing some hosting on the red carpet for the event. Brad says that they will have to be pulling locally in California because Hurricane Sandy had just hit New York a week prior. He says he’s never seen the studio so empty but he believes if they are aggressive they will be able to find what they need. Thomas and Brad are go to a showroom and start pulling. There are a bunch of GORGEOUS Jenny Packem dresses. They look at a red Georges Chakra dress, and a few others by the designer. In Brad’s voice over he says that as a presenter you need to make a splash, so you need sparkle, splash and glam!
Back at Brad and Gary’s house, they are preparing for their parents to see the house for the first time. Brad’s sister and mother arrive along with Gary’s parents. Their mom’s will be preparing a dinner for family and friends at some point during their stay. Brad and Gary show everyone the house. Gary jokes that a running theme for them is anytime they hold a dinner party someone always comes and cooks it for them, Gary says he recommends it! Brad shows them “his part of the house” where they see all his clothes and shoes displayed. Damn, Brad has a lot of shoes!! Love it!!
At the office Brad and Thomas are going over a bunch of clothes they have pulled for Stacy. Brad comments that fittings with Stacey are like a “never ending fist pump”. He’s excited to see what she picks because everything they have pulled is super strong. Stacy arrives..Brad says he’s stressed because this is the last time he gets to see her before she goes away prior to the AMA’s and he only has a fraction of the dresses he needs. He is hoping that there will be at least three strong looks they can put together for her.
Side note, I love all Brad’s Old Navy Commercials..
Back to the fitting, Brad asks Stacy if she’s ever presented before and she says she has not! Their first look is a black Pucci dress, they all love it of course. She really does look super glam! The next look is a black Lassiege (spelling?) It’s very fringe-y. They all agree that although it would be great for a photo shoot because of the movement of the dress, it doesn’t work for the AMA’s. Next look is a silver sparkley Collette Dinnigan dress. It’s a contender. Next is a Monique Lhullier, beautiful, and last is a Jenny Packham black with gold sparkles gown. It’s maj to use a Zoe-ism. Brad says it’s a fresh approach to a peekaboo. The next look is another Monique Lhullier that appears to be red leather. Brad says that it’s edgy and sophisticated but they don’t love it. There are three looks they love (exactly what Brad was hoping for!). He says she may not choose the dress until the day of the event so he is going to make sure everything is tailored and ready for her to choose from.
At B and G’s house, the mother’s are preparing dinner as other friends and family show up for their first dinner party at the new house! Brad and Gary are both excited. It’s so cute. Thomas, Hanna and Lindsay are all there. There’s so much food, it’s making me hungry..Gary says he loves how his mother is bonding with Brad’s mother. They have only known each other for about a year and they are good girlfriends now. Gary is going to be moving to London for two and a half months for his new show and Brad says he now has to be for Gary what Gary has been for him the past two years- a really good wife 🙂 Everyone digs into the food (yeah, I need a snack! Wish it could be what is one their table!). Brad sits with his employees outside and thanks them for all of their hard work and how they conduct themselves because all the clients love them! They do a hands in and say “We all deserve it” as the camera pans out to a shot of the house… How sweet.
This RHONJ promo is too much, seriously…
In the office, they are looking at pictures from the AMA’s. She picked the Collete Dinnigan mini dress. It had the right amount of pop but it was elegant and still sexy (I quoted Brad verbatim). They raised the hem on her dress six inches. He says they were on trend- Taylor Swift and Heidi Klum were both wearing short sparkley dresses.
Brad does a talking head talking about all they have accomplished in such a short amount of time… “What more could you ask for?”

Come Over To The Dark Side
Welcome back Castaways. Last week in what I thought was one of the most beautiful Survivor moves Ever, Pinky was squeezed out by the new group known as The Three Amigos. Back at camp everyone is slapping them on the back for taking out ‘the specialist’. Reynold says it was worth three idols to get rid of him. Hold that thought Reynold. Malcolm knows this is a tight group and he’s hoping that now that the leader is gone, it may fracture the group. Sooner or later, it’s going to have to happen. TH Erik notes that now he can talk to the people that he was previously forbidden to talk to. Now he can choose which option is better for him. The Three Amigos or the remaining favorites, and Sherri. Now, the three amigos will have to keep winning challenges or get some of the others to come to their side in order to keep going. They believe they have Erik and approach Sherri to join them. Guys, I’ve said it before and I’m surprised you couldn’t hear me, Never trust a smiling cat.
Day 29, Brenda is starving and her entire game has been blown out of the water. I guess she was hoping on somebody being there at the end for everyone to hate so she can win. I’m sure that’s what a few of the others were hoping for too. There’s tree mail, with cash.. It reads “Yep, 500 bucks in cash… Do you really need a little poem?”. Love they get to the point of it. Survivor watchers know what that means. The food auction. TH Malcolm notes that he has to conserve his money for the advantage that always gets offered. As hungry as he is, he hates the thought of not bidding for food, but he needs all the help he can get.
Probst ushers in the bidders and lays out the rules. No sharing of money, no sharing of prizes. Bids have to be in $20 increments and the auction can end at any time. There is always at least one item offered up that is an advantage of some sort. Probst sets a bottle of beer and a bowl of nuts on the table and starts to say that the first 20 takes it. Malcolm doesn’t let him finish saying that and takes it. Added bonus, 2 more cold beers and a bowl of pretzels. In auction terms, probably the bargain of the night. Next is a blind item. Reynold takes it after a bidding war between the others for $180. However, before he’s allowed to see his prize, he is presented with two more options. He can switch if he likes. Cochran suggests that he switches because it’s always a better item. Let’s make a deal. Reynold says he doesn’t trust Cochran so he’s going to stay with the item he bought. What did he pay $180 for? A slice of pizza. Looked rather greasy and gross to me… Like I said, Malcolm got the food bargain of the day. Under cover number 3, a rotten coconut. Under cover number 2? The rest of the pizza his slice came from. Reynold takes his slice and before Probst can say another word, Sherri offers $500 for the rest of the pizza. Probst accepts her offer, she’s out of the auction. The next item is a full roasted chicken. Dawn immediately plunks down her $500 for it. She too is out of the auction now but she has the most expensive chicken I’ve ever seen. The next item, is information about the game. Malcolm coughs up his remaining $480 for it. Only a $500 bid can beat him, none of the others offer it up. It is a clue and description of where another hidden idol is buried. He has 60 seconds to read a memorize it.
Next is a blind item. Brenda opens for $100, Andrea jumps in with $200, Erik $260, Andrea wins it for $280. Brenda is askeered she’s going to end up with something bad so she doesn’t challenge any of these bids. The prize, spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and wine. Except for the wine, it looked pretty good to me. Before she can touch it though, she’s given the option of trading it for a bag of rice and a bag of beans. She takes the trade for the entire group. Nice.. Next item, an advantage in the next immunity challenge. Reynold opens at $300, Brenda ups it to $320, Cochran takes it for $340. Next is a blind item. Eddie starts to make a bid but Brenda jumps in with $300 and wins. Probst notes that her whole dilemma in this game has been getting stuck with the boobie prize. Know what she bought? Pig Brains. Guess what folks, She doesn’t eat pork. She remembers this after she takes a spoonful and wonders if it good for you. Probst has no idea. This girl must Really be hungry. Next item, letters from home. No bid needed, they cost $20 each. Only those with remaining cash will get them and that means Malcolm, Sherri, and Dawn, will get none. Dawn notes that she is crazy paying $500 for a chicken when she could have had letters for $20… (Dawn, you have played before. I don’t think you made it to the auction but I’m betting you have watched. Let’s not see any tears about missing out on this prize. Just enjoy your chicken). One last item.. A blind item with a twist. Brenda bids her remaining $180 and Eddie takes it for $200. It is a huge bowl of peanut butter. This is to be shared right there for the next 60 seconds. Whatever is on their hands, on their face, or in their mouth, can go back to camp with them. Whatever is in the bowl, stays behind. Have fun kiddies.
Back at camp after they all read their letters Malcolm and Reynold are courting Sherri. Promising her a final 5 guarantee. With her and Erik, they want to take out Cochran. That’s Reynold’s thinking anyway. TH Sherri says why not join them? Whatever it takes to get to the end for her. That night, Malcolm breaks away from the camp to try and find that idol. This doesn’t go unnoticed as Andrea and Cochran join him at the site where he’s digging. She just sits there and won’t leave, Malcolm won’t dig while she’s there, they both go back to camp. She’s like the little sister he can’t get rid of. She’s getting on my last nerve too. (I have a niece with that same name and she annoys the hell out of me as well).
Let’s get to an immunity challenge.
Here is the object of the game. Each player has to hold these poles with one hand by the rope tied to the tops of them. At 5 minute intervals, they have to extend the lead on the rope by moving to the next knot closest to the end of the rope. For those who make it to the final part of this, it will be just rope, no knots. At the first knot these posts are the equivalent of one third of their body weight when they started. The more the pole leans, the more weight they are holding up. If the pole drops, they are out of the game. Cochran had a game advantage that he bought in the auction. That advantage is that at any time, he can go back up as many as two knots. That is, he can go 10 minutes for two knots, and then go back to the beginning while the others must continue on. TH Eddie still doesn’t think Cochran is a physical threat in this game. Hold that thought Eddie. I don’t think Cochran made it to the second knot before he used that advantage. (He did – he used it just as they moved to the second knot – NMD) I would have waited at least two but he went back to the beginning anyway. By the way, they cannot switch hands either. In the end, it comes down to Cochran and Eddie who, has no more knots to keep the rope from slipping while Cochran does. Cochran wins immunity. He struts over to Probst to collect his prize, the immunity necklace and we will note for the record, this makes him the most winning individual immunity challenge winner in this particular game. Sometimes, brains wins over brawn. I’ll note that in a purely brawn challenge, Cochran may not stand a chance against the others, if they are still there.
Back at camp in the backstabbing part of the show, Malcolm still can’t shake Andrea. She’s on him like stink on pooh so he can’t find that idol in peace. Of course she’s still offended that her name has been mentioned and even written down. I mean, how dare they, vote for Queen Andrea to go home? Don’t they know this is her game to win? Sheesh.. The nerve. So, Malcolm decides to just convince everyone he’s found an idol, again. He and Sherri make a pinky swear to vote out Andrea. Reynold and Eddie will do the same with the knowledge, that Andrea loves a split vote. So, if all goes well for him, Malcolm won’t need an idol because the count will be 4 for Andrea, 3 for him or one of the other amigos, and 2 for another one. If it goes as he plans. Cochran floats the idea of all of them just voting for one person then, it won’t matter what the three amigos do. Erik is running back and fourth between groups trying to figure out what his play is going to be. He’s convinced he is the deciding vote. Sherri is convinced that she holds all the power here. Let’s see what really happens because we know, that regardless of intentions or promises, nothing ever goes as planned (as we are shown in the edits).
Sorry folks. This one isn’t as exciting as last weeks’. It would be hard to top that one. There is some Probsting but not a whole lot. Andrea through most of it has an evil grin on her face, that I want to scrub off with a brillo pad and so does Sherri. The Amigos are feeling confident in their plan and I’m sure everyone else is. The tribe votes. It’s 3:3:3 for Andrea, Malcolm, and Reynold. Re-vote, the three of them can’t vote and all votes must be for one of them. I guess Sherri’s pinky swear doesn’t mean a damn thing. As I’ve said with this one, Never trust a smiling cat (Cheshire cat that is). The votes come back in, and again, the hidden idol is asked for. None is played, the votes are read, Malcolm is gone. Cochran, BTW, took great joy in voting for Malcolm, both times. Malcolm says it didn’t matter if he found the idol or not, he would not have played it anyway. He thought he had the numbers to get rid of Andrea. I wish he had.
As beautiful as last week’s council was, I noted that it wasn’t perfect. Every time a hidden idol was played so far in this game, it wasn’t needed. For their plan to work, all that was needed was for one of the alliance to flip and that was Erik. If they had him on board from the start, that is, pre-planned during last week’s backstabbing sessions, they could have bounced Pinky without playing the hidden idols. At least one of them could have stayed in play but with Erik’s vote, there weren’t enough votes to send either Malcolm or Eddie home last week. Of course Malcolm knew that he would have a huge target on his back come this week’s council but the fun sponge was gone.
Watch it here at your leisure. Close ad and watch as free user – Start Video (you may have to press play as well). Download nothing and just close any pop up windows. Some players may ask you to enter a word or phrase to proceed. I’ve tried that, successfully, with no ill-affects that I could see. That is, I’m suggesting it’s safe to do so. Ask if you need help with that. You can also watch at CBS.COM (with the commercials and it is torture because you can’t skip them).
See you next week. Til then,
Peace, MTH aka WTFIJeff
