- Idries and Jamil Abdur-Rahman Eliminated in leg 2

Leg 10 – Edinburgh, Scotland
Welcome back race fans. Last week we were in Berlin, Germany and no one got eliminated. My team, the Derby moms, were last to arrive so this time around they will have to do a speed bump. Newlyweds won the last leg of the race and for their prize they each received a Ford Fusion. We get to see them check out the cars before they head off to get their plane tickets for the next leg. They are of course, first to leave. They open their clue and see they have to get to Edinburgh, Scotland. So they go to a business office (because the airport ticket counters are closed at that hour) and book a 10:40am flight. The other teams go to the airport and YouTube and Derby moms are booked on a 1:00pm flight that connects in Frankfurt (which is a Huge airport). Hockey and Country get stuck on a 4:00 pm flight because YT and Derby got the last seats on the earlier one. Both of them decide to try another airline and are able to get on the same 10:40am flight as Newlyweds. YT and Derby are convinced that they have beaten other teams out of there. Newlyweds aren’t all too happy to see the Hockey boys and the Country girls on the same flight as them. There goes their big advantage. It’s worth noting that this is a double U turn episode. Also, times noted above are arrival times.
Once the teams get to Scotland, they are to jump in a car and drive to Edinburgh Castle for their next clue. The first three teams arrive at 10:40 and find their cars and they are off. Chatter is that they will U turn YT and Derby. Caroline (country) can’t seem to get up any speed on the highway. That’s what happens when you drive with the parking brake on. Newlyweds aren’t too happy that they are traveling in a bit of a pack. I’m beginning to hate Katie. She just has that bitch look about her, to me. Later, Derby and YT land and discover that they are not in first place but in last place. They are certain they will be turned and Derby also has a speed bump to deal with at some point. Not looking too good for my favorite teams at this point. Yeah, okay, I like Meghan and as long as he isn’t screaming like a little girl, Joey doesn’t seem like a bad guy so, YT has become a bit of a favorite of mine. Still pulling for Derby moms though.
The teams begin to arrive at the castle and their clue is a roadblock. In order to get their next clue, they have to play with ‘The Royal Scots’, Scotland’s national bagpipe troupe. One member from each team has to dress in the garb and learn to play a single note on the bagpipes. They must hold that note while marching around that balcony with the group. If they waiver from that note, they have to start over. I learned something new here. I didn’t know it but to hold a steady note, there has to be a steady flow of air (which makes sense if I think about it). You have to keep the bag full enough while squeezing it just enough to give the proper note. Blowing too hard into the mouthpiece can also mess it up. This march will take a bout 2 minutes. Max, Bates, Caroline do the task for the first three teams. The guys get through it pretty quick but Caroline has a little trouble with it. She can’t get her dry mouth to seal around the mouthpiece. Odd that the guys could… Hmmmm. (sorry). Later, Derby and YT take on the task. Meghan for YT and Mona for Derby. Mona got through it pretty quick but Meghan had trouble getting the hang of the bagpipes. She played trumpet for 4 years she says but that’s a different kind of mouthpiece. She said that by the time she got it right, she and the 70 year old coach had made out via that mouthpiece. Okay, Meghan…
The clue they get after the bagpipes is to go to Craigmiller Castle and search the fireplaces for the next clue. This is also where the speedbump is for the Derby moms. In order, Hockey, Newlyweds, and Country get to the castle (followed by YT and Derby later on). The place is dark and there is only one clue hidden in a given fireplace and there are no hints. The clue is a detour. Tasty Pudding or Whiskey Rolling. For the Pudding task, the teams must learn to and also prepare Haggis (Scotland’s national dish). For those who don’t know, This is Ox (or other) intestine filled with various organ meats, grain, and spices. I think the filling is prepared for them but I’m not certain of that. They have to make 4 lumps of this stuff and then taste it to get their next clue. Whiskey rolling, they have to deliver 8 barrels of whiskey, up hill, to a festival. Hockey takes on the whiskey task and Newlyweds and Country take on the Haggis making (it’s about this time that Derby and YT get to the first task at Edinburgh Castle). They all get through their respective tasks without too much trouble.
The next clue tells the teams to go to Duddingston Kirk to find the next clue. The next clue will take them to the pit stop. It is also the location where the U Turn is. Hockey gets there first and they UT YouTube. Newlyweds UT Derby moms. There is no one for Country to UT since both are taken (this isn’t a blind one either) so they can just go to the pit stop. They had to park and go on foot to the pit stop so somehow, Newlyweds got their first. They won $10k each. Hockey comes in second, Country is third. Yay… I guess. None of them are my favorites but good for them.
Okay… The Derby moms get to the castle with the fireplaces but hit their speed bump. The speedbump is to complete one round of ‘Skittles’ which is, just like Bowling but the balls don’t have any holes. Essentially all they have to do is roll a strike. All 10 pins in one shot. They also have to set their own pins and retrieve their own balls. They have to do it a few times before they get it done. Meanwhile, YT can’t seem to find the Craigmiller Castle to find the next clue. As a result, the Derby moms finish their speedbump and arrive back at the castle the same time as YT. It is now dark and there are no lights in this place. Remember too there is only one clue in each of these fireplaces and there are more than five fire places. YT finds a clue and they choose the pudding task. Meghan tells Joey he doesn’t want to know what Haggis is. Derby finds the clue as well and also choose the Haggis task. Both teams take off (Derby has already been to these locations when they went for their speedbump), Derby is in front. They would like to shake YT but can’t so they say they’ll just have to do the detour better than YT. Not so fast ladies. Both of you will be doing both detours but you both have to get to the u-turn board before you find that out.
Derby gets out of the Haggis first, and discover they’ve been turned. YT has a little trouble getting those intestines properly stuffed so there is no air but they eventually get it done. By the time they discover they’ve been turned, Derby is working on the 3rd and 4th barrels of whiskey. After the first two, YT decides to work together on one at a time. Obviously, Derby finishes first. They are far stronger than Meghan and Joey. YouTube does finish with their teamwork and it’s an apparent race to the pit stop. It’s a nerve racking drive for both as they both seem to get lost. We don’t get to see if they find the proper parking lot (which is what cost Hockey first place in this leg). We just see Derby moms taking 4th place and YouTube coming in last. Yes, it is an elimination round, so they are gone.
Next week kiddies, this race is Ovah 😀 It’s a two hour tour, probably the first hour eliminates one team and then final three fight it out in the second hour. Newlyweds seem to be catching their stride, Hockey has never lost theirs. Country is always somewhere in the middle and I’m not counting the now, last place, Derby moms out just yet. I’m a little bit disappointed that YT and/or Derby couldn’t have shoved that u-turn down someone elses throat(s) but that’s the way the ball bounces.
That’s all folks. Watch it commercial free here if you like, contact me if you have trouble with the link. Or watch it at CBS.COM or On Demand if you have it.
See you next week. Peace, MTH aka WTFIJeff
Dancing with the Stars by Lisette
It’s Latin night in the ballroom and Juanes will be performing! For the first time a couple will be granted immunity. There will be a dance-off for the remaining couples. The winners of the dance-off will each receive 3 extra points. Now onto the dancing…
Jacoby & Karina – Salsa – Score 27
- CAI – 9
- LG – 9
- BT – 9
The pressure is on for Jacoby as he went down in the scoring last week. Practice is killing Jacoby as he needs to take a day off for a massage and day in ice. You can see Jacoby is tired. He almost drops Karina during one of the lifts! EEK! OMG! He did a running jump over Karina and I thought he was going to take her head off but she grabs his legs so I guess it is part of the routine. I actually let out a yelp because I thought it was a mistake…lol! Len liked it. Said there was an earthquake because he rocked the place. And Mama Jacoby starts heckling Len. Really cute. Len would have preferred less lifts and a little more dancing. Bruno says the fiesta has begun. Then Bruno starts gyrating his hips mimicking Jacoby’s dancing and called Karina Iron Man for all the flying she was doing. Carrie Ann says Jacoby has such a natural ability that he could fart the salsa. She said he has the right flavor fart. I think that made sense in her head. JR Martinez is in the audience and Karina gave him a big kiss and hug.
Ingo & Kym – Rumba – Score 22
- CAI – 7
- LG – 8
- BT – 7
Ingo is having trouble with the hip action as all non-dancers do. For playing a leading man on a soap Ingo has a little bit of a problem being sexy man. He’s a little stiff and you can tell he is concentrating really hard during the dance. It was a good effort. Bruno says hips don’t lie but in Ingo’s case he wishes they could. He called the dance staccato and the intention was good but the hips needed help. Carrie Ann agrees with Bruno that the dance lacked fluidity and that he was really concentrating throughout the dance. She felt it was lacking connection since he was thinking too much. Len said it was like the Lakers, you give it your best shot but you didn’t quite deliver in the end. He thought the lines were good but it was a difficult dance and it was good.
Kellie & Derek – Samba – Score 29
- CAI – 9
- LG – 10
- BT – 10
Kellie has three concerts and has to learn her dances so it was a very stressful week for her. She looks great with the long hair wig from last week. The dance is really good especially the last step. She did a really funky move with her leg that was awesome! Carrie Ann said when she dances she sees perfection but she doesn’t feel her when she dances. Carrie Ann feels the dances lack emotional connection. Len says it was a mix of booty bounce and bongos. He disagrees with Carrie Ann and says it was brilliant. Bruno says it was the perfect balance of technique and performance. Everything you would want from a samba was there.
Andy & Sharna – Rumba – Score 17
- CAI – 5
- LG – 6
- BT – 6
Andy has to bring the sexy and well it is very hard for Andy to be sexy. I like the set-up with the costumes. It plays to Andy’s strengths. Sharna didn’t try to make him sexy but I don’t know if I would call this a samba. It’s a lot of Sharna dancing around Andy. Len like the fun and entertainment and Andy’s enthusiasm. As a rumba it was more erratic than erotic. Bruno said Andy took an unforgettable dance and Bruno wishes he could forget what he saw. Basically Andy ruined the rumba for him. Carrie Ann said he touches us when he dances but he needs to work more on his technique. She called his arms spassy.
Alexandra & Mark – Salsa – Score 29
- CAI – 10
- LG – 9
- BT – 10
So Mark injured himself during practice. He either has a sprained back or an injured disk. Aly feels bad because she thinks it is her fault. Aly has to practice with Henry but she doesn’t know who she will be dancing with on Monday. Looks like Mark made it through. This looks like the most fun Aly has ever had. The dance is lively and loads of fun and Aly has the best smile on her face throughout the whole dance. You can tell they cut some of the lifts but the dance did not suffer for it. Bruno called Aly the spice of his life. Tutti frutti delicious cocktail and he’ll have one of those please. Carrie Ann loved it. She said she nailed it. And then Carrie Ann and Bruno start gyrating to Len. Len called it like a tequila sunrise it was sharp and fruity it was tasty and refreshing. He would have liked a more recognizable salsa but said it was fun. (Until Len said salsa I thought they were dancing the samba…oops!)
Sean & Peta – Rumba – Score 24
- CAI – 8
- LG – 8
- BT – 8
It is hard for Sean to pretend to have feelings for Peta to make the dance sexy. So they have Katherine come in to have Sean dance with someone he does love. This is like one big promo for the televised wedding that is soon to happen. This dance was, to me, worse than Andy’s. Sean was stiff and quite honestly it was boring. Carrie Ann is impressed and said the music was pulsating through him and thought it was wonderful. Len said it was like a match, Peta was fire and Sean was wooden…LOL! He hated how his hands were flapping. Bruno called him a vision in gray, 50 shades of Sean. Disagreed with Len about the musicality but said it was so much better.
Zendaya & Val – Paso Doble – Score 27
- CAI – 9
- LG – 9
- BT – 9
Zendaya is finding it hard to match Val’s intensity. She’s going to act because she doesn’t know how to be so intense…The dance was just stunning! She was ah-ma-zing! The crowd is going nuts as they should! Len loves it. He actually sounds like Bruno the way he is effusing. His only criticism is she did not keep her chin up. Bruno says she looks like an angel and dances like a fury. He loved the flamenco beginning and agrees with Len about the chin. Carrie Ann says the lines were gorgeous but it was missing a bit of the depth of the strength like a song missing the bass line.
Kelly and Derek have the highest cumulative total so they are safe from elimination tomorrow. Everyone else will participate in the dance-off and will add to their scores from tonight. While everyone else goes to change they have a performance by Juanes with dancing from the pros. I love that Juanes is getting this exposure. I know he’s huge in the Latin community so its nice to see him on mainstream American TV.
Alexandra & Mark and Andy & Sharna will dance off together with the Cha Cha. So instead of dancing together they each danced for 40 seconds individually. Now everything is rush rush because they wait until the last darn minute for everything. Now judges comments and the winner is Alexandra & Mark. Next round is Zendaya & Val and Jacoby & Karina dancing Jive. Zendaya and Jacoby are equally good so this one is going to be hard! And the winner is Zendaya & Val. Last dance off is Sean & Peta and Ingo & Kym dancing the rumba. That means the two most boring will dance the rumba which IMO is the most boring dance. Don’t mean to offend any rumba lovers! And the winner is Ingo & Kym. So all the winners have 3 points added to their scores. So on top of the leader-board are Alexandra & Mark and at the bottom are Andy & Sharna. That’s it for tonight folks! See everyone for the results.
