Vicki’s Tardy OC Blog Blogged – Brooks-Gate by BB
Vicki just recently posted her blog about the June 30th episode. I personally think she’s still got the blinders on with respect to Brooks’ escapades, although I don’t blame her for being upset with Lauri. Even if what Lauri said is true, her motives were suspect. You can judge for yourself who to believe – Brooks or Lauri.
Vicki apologizes for submitting her blog so late. She explains the urgency to do the blogs has gone away due to the attacks on her this season, mainly from Lauri. She thinks what Lauri has been saying about her is wrong, filled with lies, unjustifiable and just plain mean.
The episode was supposed to be about Tamra and her wedding dress. Vicki had taken the day off because she sincerely wanted to be there for Tamra. It would have been less stressful had she chosen to work instead because she had no idea Lauri was going to unload on her that day. The last time Vicki had seen her (a few years ago), Lauri had told her how much she didn’t like Tamra, so Vicki was somewhat shocked to see her that day. Vicki figured she was “back” to either give Tamra advice on her wedding or she wanted to character assassinate Brooks. Either way, she couldn’t appear as BORING LAURI as that obviously wouldn’t be much fun to watch.
Vicki hadn’t seen Lauri for over two years. She was invited to her and George’s wedding and had also had her daughter Ashley to her vacation home in Arizona. There have never been any issues or conversations about anything negative. Vicki has only wanted what’s best for Lauri and her family and is very hurt to be blindsided by her this season.
Vicki doesn’t want to give too much away about what’s coming in future episodes, but she is not going to let this subject end or let Lauri get away with it. Vicki thought it was poor timing for Lauri to bring the subject of Brooks up during Tamra’s wedding dress shopping and thinks she wanted to break her by saying what she did about Brooks in front of everyone. Vicki says, “If she really was a class act and really had compassion, she would have taken me aside, one-on-one and told me what she’d heard.”
Vicki said after she got home that night, she spent a long time on the phone with Brooks, trying to comprehend things, most importantly, Lauri’s motive in doing and saying this. Surprisingly (eye roll here), Brooks’ story was quite different from Lauri’s and, of course, Vicki chose to believe Brooks because up until then, everything Lauri had said about Vicki had been blatant lies, so why start believing her then? Brooks’ story is that George’s daughter and a few of her friends were cocktail waitresses at a poker party he was attending. She introduced herself to Brooks by stating that Vicki knew her stepmom (Lauri). Brooks claims he never saw her after that evening, didn’t date her, didn’t give her money and didn’t take her out to eat. Well, of course he didn’t do those things with George’s daughter – he allegedly did them with his daughter’s alleged porn film-making friend. Someone is lying and Vicki chooses to believe it’s Lauri – again. Vicki says she is not here to defend Brooks or fight his battles. Oh, really?
Vicki says, “Now I know some of you are saying, ‘Come on Vicki, wise up. He did it.’ Well I’ve decided to live my life based on the saying: ‘If I don’t see it with my own eyes, hear it with my own ears, or if it’s not verified by some other means of backup. . .I have to consider it hearsay or gossip.’ People can say anything they want to, but to me the only way I can live in this life of chaos, which I do, is if I see it myself. Why would I believe Lauri over Brooks anyways? Brooks has not lied to me (that I know of yet) and one of the greatest things about our relationship is we base it on truth. If you don’t have trust in a relationship you have nothing. We were broken up for a few months late last year. Brooks really had the prerogative to do what he wanted to do.”
Vicki was concerned for Lauri and George’s daughter and saddened to hear she was hanging around someone with questionable employment. Vicki’s sure their children are embarrassed that Lauri chose to air their daughter’s affiliation with this type of job with all of the women. Vicki would have handled it differently, but Lauri has become very manipulative, condescending and downright mean. Vicki says, “She opened up this can of worms and unfortunately it’s out in the open now. She has just revealed something very sad, demoralizing, and low about a family member. I am sickened to think that they boast that they have the ‘modern day Brady Bunch,’ but behind the Petersons’ closed doors there is a lot of bad stuff going on.”
Vicki doesn’t write much more about this episode except to say, “The whole situation about Gretchen not wanting Alexis to go wedding dress shopping is ridiculous. I was proud of Tamra inviting Alexis and despite their differences she realized it was the right thing to do. I think Gretchen is the one that has problems with sharing friendships not me. She’ll realize someday that it’s not the quantity of friendships one has, but the quality of them.”
