Tamra’s Wedding Numero Tres by NMD
In an attempt to make Tamra’s wedding as dramatic as possible, we learn that she doesn’t have her seating chart ready three days before the big day. Not only that – but she had started her seating chart with FIRST NAMES only, and she’s invited lots of Steves. Oh, and her wedding dresses will be delivered at 11 am the day of the wedding. The wedding planner is shocked and dismayed. Unfortunately, this was the most interesting scene of the show.
Next up is the waxing scene they showed in the previews. Oh joy, I thought I had slept through it last week.
Fast forward to the rehearsal dinner. To class it up, Tamra has a loud conversation with Vicki about the waxing. Tamra’s brother passes out the moonshine in a jar -and Heather wants to bring out the febreze to disinfect everything. Terry has some gets drunk. Tamra and her brother hug it out. He starts to bawl and says Eddie brings out the best in her. Vicki gives an emotional toast, but I’m mesmerized by how awful her hair looks. Terry makes an inappropriate comment, and Vicki gives him the stare down. Stay away from that moonshine Terry!
Day of the wedding. They show up at the hotel. Tamra looks really different without a full face of makeup. Not terrible – just different. They all get ready yada yada yada.
The rest of the show was the wedding and reception. It was okay – people looked like they had fun. So let’s cut to the chase and look at what the ladies were all wearing.
Unlike Bravo – I want to keep things in order – so here are the Cast Blogs blogged from last week. (HydrangeaHussy was sick). And to make things even more confusing – HydrangeaHussy will be taking over blogging the actual show for the remainder of the season. So we’ve got a double hitter today from her. NMD
Miami Blogs Blogged
Well, there were some short blogs this week. Since the focus wasn’t on Adriana’s lies, the women generally avoided the topic. I was a little disappointed that Joanna & Lea didn’t comment on the behavior of the Mean Girls at Polo. I found Adriana, Ana & Marysol to be unnecessarily petty & vicious. Why do they spend so much time focusing on someone they claim not to care about?
“Joanna’s Bangin’ New Look”
I really hope the women don’t pick their own titles. Joanna states that she opted to change it up this year & wear bangs in an attempt to forget about the drama of last year’s gala. “The gala inspired me to revamp my look this year in order to forget the hurtful memories and accusations that still hunt me from last year.” She goes on & on… about the bangs. “A successful model is like a chameleon that looks different for every shoot, so yes, I loved having bangs.” OK, you changed your look, you wore fake bangs, you love them…now move on!
“I applaud Lea for working so hard and putting her personal life aside so she can make a change in children’s lives.” I’ve worked with at-risk children, so it’s great to see such a spotlight put on these kids & efforts to help them. Joanna then goes on to thank her fans & admit her mistakes. “I had my troubles, I recognize them, I drank and misbehaved, but then again, who didn’t?” I have to say that I admire someone who can act like a fool on national TV, own it & try to move on. Love her or hate her, Joanna makes no apologies for who she is. While it was a little refreshing that she didn’t spend time on the mean girls this week, I did miss her snarky comments.
“Lea Embraces Friends & Ignores Enemies”
“When it comes to a “cause” and raising money, it’s been about if I can make someone else’s life better, easier, or more fulfilled — then I have a responsibility to do it, because I am blessed and because I can.” I think that it’s wonderful that Lea recognizes how blessed she is and has found a way to give back to the community. The name-dropping & gushing over jewels is over the top, but that’s what this show is about. Lea gives a long list of thanks in her blog & I’m not going to bore you with all of the names dropped there. We all know by now that Lea collects celebrities.
As for Team Adriana, “when it comes to relationships and friendships, I sort of see it like this. If you appreciate me and are good to me, you can count on me, even if sometimes you misbehave. … Don’t expect me to condone or enable your bad behavior at my expense and then be surprised when I expose the facts and underlying truth in defense of myself.” Lea has built a charity around second chances, so I find it hard to believe that the same wouldn’t apply to her friends. With Lea, what you see is what you get & she seems to be willing to forgive once someone owns their actions & apologizes. Adriana’s problem is that she won’t admit her mistake.
“Lisa’s No Peacemaker”
Alexia begins by addressing her non-attendance at the gala. “I didn’t go to Lea’s gala because I was very sick, and that’s the truth. I think Lea believes that and knows it in her heart… I don’t play those games, and even though Marysol and Adriana didn’t want me to go, I was standing firm and I was going.” First, Alexia made the point, during the show, that she was losing her voice due to the Venue party. She didn’t make any mention of being sick initially. Alexia also stated, during the show, that she was reconsidering the gala based on what the mean girls said. I think she gave in to peer pressure. I can understand that she didn’t want to spend the day defending her decision to Team Adriana, but she should have stood up to the mean girls a little more & not put up with their vicious attacks. “I know Marysol and Adriana felt bad for the hard time they gave me. They apologized later. I waited until the end of the day to tell them I was going, because I didn’t want to ruin the day for them.” How would telling them that you plan to attend an event ruin their day? Are they that immature? The answer is, obviously, YES, they are immature enough to believe that you have to pick sides to be a good friend.
“It’s so uncomfortable to be in this position. I want to be friends with both sides like I’ve been until now. I don’t feel I have to take sides … I have nothing to do with their problems, and I’m getting tired of it. I have my own problems, which are much more important than theirs for that matter.” I wish that Alexia would do what she says & just stay out of it. She says that she is a friend to everyone, but this episode made it clear that she’s playing both sides. It would have been so easy to tell Team Adriana that she didn’t want to hear about it. But she chose to sit quietly & smile with they bashed her alleged friend, Lea. “I didn’t want the day to be about Lea and her gala. I want to keep my friendships separate and not go from one group to the other talking about each other.” I think that she could have mentioned the gala without making the whole day about Lea. If the other women chose to make it all about Lea (like they did!), that’s their problem.
“What I’m also very tired about is Lisa talking about the Cubans. What kind of ignorant comment is that?” Lisa stated in a past episode that the Cuban community was “like a gang.” That comment was shown in the recap at the beginning of this episode. I re-watched the episode, paying attention & did not see Lisa make any comments, other than pointing out that it appears to be Lea against ‘all of the Cubans.’ Apparently Alexia missed the prior episode when the comment was actually made. Anyway, the comments may not have been in good taste, but I don’t think Lisa meant to be offensive.
“Up Close and Personal with Flo Rida”
Lisa begins by apologizing to anyone who may have been hurt by her comments regarding surrogacy. “My approach to using a surrogate is very different now than what it was at this time. I am much more comfortable with the idea and realize that it’s a blessing that this is even an option in today’s world for us. I have come to understand that the bond between a mother and child doesn’t just come from carrying that child. Even though I have not had the experience of carrying a baby full term, I think my comments may have been a little insensitive to others out there who may be adopted or have used a surrogate. For that I apologize.” Since I was one who took issue with the comments, I’m glad that she has changed her opinion. It’s been hard to watch their struggles, since I’ve watched family & friends go through the same thing.
She goes on to explain Lenny’s work schedule & the public perception it can create. “Many times I show up to events, dinners, and social gatherings solo. I know many people think that there’s probably trouble in paradise, but it is simply because my husband works so much.” I think that after this season it’s obvious that Lenny is very much in love with his wife. They have opened up to the audience & shown the true issues in their marriage. “He does it because he absolutely loves what he does and has a hard time turning down patients.”
As for the gala, “I know how hard putting together an event is, because my yearly Halloween party to raise money for charities close to our heart is not an easy task. Lea’s gala is much bigger at this point being that she has been growing it for 19 years, and it takes much more planning than my Halloween ball.”
Adriana de Moura
“Adriana Loves the Gay Community”
“I had the best time ever going to watch the gay polo match in Palm Beach! … I was amongst people who were not the judgmental kind… I knew I could let my guard down and just enjoy a day free of drama, and boy did I need that breather!” Adriana chooses to skim over her behavior at the Polo. I’m glad that she had a great time at the Polo, but it seemed to me that she spent most of her time complaining about or putting down Lea. That doesn’t seem like a ‘breather’ to me. Adriana either needs to own up to her actions & apologize, or just drop it. Whining about Lea constantly doesn’t help her case at all, just makes her look immature.
“I love the gay community and always relate and connect to them. We share the same appreciation for beauty, details, art, and we like to live life to the fullest!” Adriana has gotten lots of comments about how stereotypical & ignorant her comments about the gay community are. One insightful reader pointed out that Adriana has said repeatedly that her marriage license was just a piece of paper, but that ‘piece of paper’ that she devalues so much is something that her gay friends are unable to have at this time. “How insipid would life be without them in it? I feel like one of them and appreciate all the glamour and fun they bring to our otherwise plain, boring lives.”
I’m hoping that Marysol was appalled by her behavior onscreen this week & chose to just lie low.
Real Housewives of Miami – S3 Ep06 – “A Ple-thora of Lies”
Alright boys & girls, I’m taking on both the show & the blogs for Miami this week! Not much drama, but we do get the beginning of the dueling weddings. Here we go…
As we start this episode, Lisa’s in-laws are in town. We know from last season that they have a somewhat rocky relationship. Lisa is not super excited about the visit. Marina wants to expose Lisa to Russian foods & has taken her to a Russian grocery/cafe. I have to agree, that fish did not look appetizing. Lisa says that she’s working on the relationship, but she’s having trouble. There’s a fine line between being respectful of your in-laws & being a doormat. It was nice to see Lisa sticking up for herself a little this time around. Last season she just took the criticism. This is going to take some effort on both of their parts.
Adriana is at home, interrupting her son’s Chinese homework. Now, Alexia took issue with Lisa’s comments about Cubans. I think Adriana’s inappropriate Chinese impression was just as offensive. Now on to the important part (& the reason for taping this conversation) – Adriana & Frederic’s non-marriage. Adriana says that they didn’t feel the need to discuss “paperwork” with a child. However, this wasn’t just “paperwork” Adriana, this was a legally binding marriage certificate with a civil ceremony. She blames Lea for forcing this discussion with Alex, “thank you Lea.” Adriana will never pass up an opportunity to take a shot at Lea. Does anyone know if Lea was the one who leaked the story or is Adriana just blaming her? Anyway, Lea texting Alex is just inappropriate. She should have either texted Adriana to invite Alex, or let RJ invite Alex.
Just like Lisa, Lenny is trying to play peace-maker. He invites Romain & Frederic over for a gentleman’s chat. They get right to the heart of it – the tweet. Romain was hurt that Frederic called Joanna a whore/prostitute. I appreciate him sticking up for his woman. Frederic mans up & apologizes. Romain accepts the apology. The men decide to move on. Lisa comments that the women could take a lesson from the men in their ability to work through an issue so quickly & easily. Haha! Silly girl! If the women did that, there wouldn’t be a show! Lenny – 1, Lisa – 0. During the mediation, Lisa & MIL are upstairs for girl time. MIL was immediately charmed by Frederic, but not so impressed with Romain.
Alexia goes to therapy with Frankie. It’s good to see her taking an active role in her son’s recovery. She’s lucky to be able to spend so much time with him during this difficult time. A lot of mothers don’t have that option or opportunity. I hate to see any child suffer a severe or traumatic injury.
Joanna & Marta are on the phone. They are trying to work out their relationship. Marta has been a very vocal opponent of Joanna’s relationship with Romain. Joanna wants Marta’s blessing for the marriage. Marta’s only way to be on the show is to be part of the wedding, so of course she’s going to give her blessing! I really hope she stays out of it from now on & just supports her sister. Unless, of course, she has proof of infidelity. Joanna asks Marta to be her maid of honor. I wonder how Romain will react to that news, since he was very vocal about his dislike for Marta’s interference in their relationship.
On to one of the most uncomfortable family dinners ever! Lisa is trying so hard! Lisa’s MIL is upset because Lisa doesn’t call her enough. It has to be exhausting to deal with a MIL like that. Lisa points out that she doesn’t feel the need to make them a high priority because she doesn’t feel that her MIL doesn’t like her. She expresses that & her in-laws just ignore it. How hard would it be to give Lisa a little affirmation. The MIL then says that Lenny must not love her anymore because he seems to have a mission in life to make her miserable. Lenny stands up to her by explaining that he does love her but doesn’t appreciate the constant attacks on his wife. MIL says that it’s Lisa’s fault. Lenny counters by saying that it isn’t Lisa’s fault. He says that she’s “not nice to anyone” anymore. Good for him! Lisa tries to offer the olive branch by offering to spend more time with her MIL while she’s in town.
Another dress shopping adventure! Adriana & the girls are looking for bridesmaid dresses. Adriana wants everyone in white, which seems odd to me. As Alexia says, they don’t want to be competition for Adriana. Lisa comments on how nice it is to be with everyone & have no drama. Of course Marysol jumps in with a snide comment about Lea. These ladies just can’t miss a chance for a jab. Adriana wants Lisa to be in her wedding, but not in Joana’s because she doesn’t want a “double agent.” Geez! These women act like high schoolers with their ‘you can’t be friends w/her b/c I don’t like her’ attitudes!
Meanwhile, Lea arrives at Joana & Romain’s new house. Joana gives a tour. In her TH, Lea calls the house a “money pit.” Kind of rude. I have to ask, what in the world is Lea doing with the cushion? Is she really that concerned about the sun for the two minutes she was out there? Joana is super stressed about planning her wedding & moving. Marta hasn’t dropped her life to help Joana with the wedding & Joana is disappointed. I can understand that Joana wants her sister there to help, but she can’t just expect her sister to drop everything & fly across the country to look at flowers. I guess if you’re Joanna & the world revolves around you, it’s expected. In the real world, most people are lucky if their friends/family can afford to take off work for the wedding itself. But if you’re Lea, you can drop everything for a girl’s trip to LA. They decide to include Lisa. Of course, thanks to the miracle of BravoTV, they call during the dress shopping!
Here we go, Adriana has some paper of her own! During her bridesmaid dress shopping, she pulls out an article from 1995 about Lea’s “secret wedding.” Here’s the full article. Adriana says that Lea’s “real name” is Lisa Heller. Actually the article says that she’s Lisa Lea Heller, married named Black. Lea was married four months after her secret ceremony & Adriana thinks that it’s the same thing. Um, not unless Lea’s friends were helping her support herself during the time because they were under the impression that she was broke & alone. Lisa tries to point out the difference between four months and four years, but Adriana isn’t having that. I have no idea what Lea’s reasons were for not disclosing the marriage immediately, but the article implies that the Blacks were simply waiting for renovations to be finished at their home. Seems very different than the myriad of reasons Adriana has given. I’ll hold judgment until we hear from Lea on this matter. “It’s just a job in itself, to keep both of these feisty girls happy.” I agree Lisa!!!
During a shopping trip with Marysol & Adriana, Lea calls to invite Adriana, Alex & Frederic to RJ’s birthday. I love how these phone calls always happen while groups of women are together. I’m sure that’s just a coincidence, lol. In all seriousness, I’m glad to see both mothers putting the kids ahead of their petty issues. We get more pettiness & passive aggressive comments from Marysol. But, I agree with Marysol (shocker!), “send Frederic!”
I expected RJ’s birthday to be one of those over-the-top parties that we love to see! Lea says that she was shocked when she found out that RJ planned the party & ordered a bunch of stuff for it. I generally try to avoid commenting on people’s kids or their parenting skills, but there is no way that I could have ordered a bunch of stuff without my parents knowing! Does this kid have a credit card at 14? Lea is surprised by RJ’s theme for the party. I can’t even figure out what the theme is, but I love that Lea just lets RJ run with it. He’s old enough to decide for himself what he wants. The kids really seemed to enjoy the military style faux combat. I was a little surprised that Lea didn’t have a tent or something so the boys could continue playing outside even if it rained. It seems like she would have planned for that, since she manages to put together such a huge gala every year.
I was glad to see Alexia, Lisa & Joanna make appearances. Alexia was worried that she would get the third-degree about her non-attendance at the gala, but Lea doesn’t mention it. Way to go Lea! Take the high road & move on! Did Joana really think that Romain was going to remember the gift? Silly girl! Then he chooses that moment to tell Joanna that he & Frederic have sort-of-made-up. Joanna isn’t super thrilled but she agrees to be civil. She even accepts Frederic’s apology. Romain & Joanna confuse Alex with RJ. Can’t wait to see what Adriana has to say about that!
Adriana shows up with the immediate drama, complaining that she doesn’t want to be in the house. Lea is hurt that Adriana didn’t speak to her. In her TH, Adriana says that she showed up because she didn’t want the boys to suffer. Then why show up? I doubt RJ cared whether his mom’s friends were there. I know that when my friends have parties for their kids, the kids don’t care whether I’m there. I go to be supportive of my friend. The ladies are called up to the “stage” to sing happy birthday to RJ. Lisa & Joanna, in their TH’s, comment on how awkward & bordering on inappropriate that was. It seemed forced to me. That was RJ’s party, not a chance for his mother to put her friends in the spotlight.
