Real Housewives of Beverly Hills “Luaus and Lies“ by BB
Bravo producers and executives and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills themselves really need to put on their thinking caps and come up with some watchable television. We are very loyal housewife viewers and don’t deserve being subjected to repeated scenes of these women getting their bikini areas waxed, making up words for their hoo-has, and dancing on stripper poles. The first time may be mildly entertaining. The second and third times not so much. And please don’t get me started on why Kim Richards continues to hold the title of a real housewife. Seriously. My life’s not all that exciting, but if I lived Kim’s life, I’d be bored to tears. She needs to get a hobby, a job, a charity, something! Must be nice getting that Bravo paycheck for showing up at a few events and doing practically nothing. Was she at her sister’s charity event last episode? Probably so, but I can’t even remember. Her storyline about Lisa not showing up to a delayed graduation party for her daughter is just plain lame. Truth be told, this whole Beverly Hills season has been pretty lame thus far. I hope it gets better, but I’m not holding my breath. I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s pretty sad when the stuff happening off-film with these ladies is more interesting than what has made it to our television screens.
Kimberly graduated “a while ago,” but Kim is just getting around to having her graduation party. This scene with Kim, Kyle and their daughters at the bikini waxing studio is neither fun nor entertaining to me. I guess you had to be there. Let’s go on to something else please.
Oh, no. I need to be careful what I ask for. Carlton, her blonde friend, and Brandi are taking pole dancing classes. Carlton and her friend are a little drunk. Why is Brandi there? Doesn’t she have a pole at home? Isn’t she already proficient at this? Why, yes she is! Brandi doesn’t even seem to be enjoying this scene. They talk about what to take to Kimberly’s graduation party. Carlton suggests alcohol, which is a great idea since Kim is sober and Kimberly is under drinking age. They ultimately decide on flowers.
Kim was originally going to have the party at her sister Kathy’s house, but Kathy had to go to Buckingham Palace so that’s out. For some reason, I don’t get the impression that family is Kathy’s number one priority in life. Kimberly says she’s just as happy to have the party at home.
Announcement! Brandi and Carlton do NOT like to get dick pics on their phones. They decide to buy some street food and eat it on Kim’s front stoop before going into the graduation party. When they get in there, Brandi is feeling very sick and an already high Carlton is cruising for some booze without any luck, thank goodness. Brandi goes into the bathroom and throws up. Is Bravo really letting us listen to Brandi throwing up in the bathroom? Let’s just say Carlton and Brandi were really adding a slutty vibe to this party and needed to go. And they both need to look in a mirror before talking about what Joyce is wearing.
After the trashy twins leave the party, Kim makes a rambling speech about Kimberly picking Kim to be her mom (I don’t think Kimberly had a choice in the matter) and then they have a nice slide show. If Kim’s happy then I’m happy and that’s all I have to say about that.
Alright! We are in Lisa’s awesome closet! Now that’s what I’m talking about! Lisa is going through her clothes to pick out some dresses to donate to foster kids for the prom and such. She calls the others (Carlton, Brandi, Joyce, Kim and Kyle) and asks them to bring some of their dresses over the next day for the cause. She asks Brandi if she wants to come over at a separate time from Joyce. Brandi says no, she’s up to talking with Joyce one on one. Lisa is a little leery of that, as well she should be.
Joyce participates in a photo-shoot for an anti-bullying campaign. She mentions that people used to call her spaghetti and meatballs or Olive Oyl because her body is small and her head is big.
Lisa has a morning brunch type of get together for the women bringing the donated dresses. Joyce arrives first, followed by Kim. Kim immediately tells Lisa how nice Kimberly’s graduation party was and that all the women were there except for her and Yolanda, who was out of town. Kim then tells Lisa her hairdresser saw her at Sur the night of the party. Lisa says she was in Missouri that day and that’s why she couldn’t make it. Lisa and Ken sit and try to figure out the timing of that Saturday and what they were doing when. Lisa says she thought the graduation was during the daytime on Saturday and Kimberly tells her no, it was that Saturday night. The bottom line is Lisa had RSVP’d two weeks prior that she would NOT be at Kimberly’s party and she also sent Kimberly a nice Tiffany gift. To me, that should suffice and it shouldn’t make any difference where Lisa was while the party was going on. Would it be too much to ask that this be the last we hear about this issue? Of course it would.
As an aside, Ken gets in a little dig about Kim not always making it to events in the past. Kim tells Ken she thinks that remark was uncalled for. Ken apologizes but not really because when Kim asks Ken if he thought that remark was a low blow, he tells her no. I have to side with Kim a little on this one. She’s a recovering alcoholic and has definitely had a rough time over the past few years so, of course, she’s probably missed a couple of events due to being drunk or whatever. That being said, Kim is making way too big a deal of Lisa not attending Kimberly’s party. Her own sister Kathy couldn’t make it either. Lisa probably accomplishes more in one day than Kim does in a week or a month even. She runs two restaurants and has a lot of things going on in her life. She can’t make it to everything. It’s not like she said she would be there and didn’t show up or cancelled at the last minute. For the record, I may be mistaken, but I believe Lisa makes it to more housewife events than Yolanda or even Carlton for that matter.
Joyce and Brandi have a one on one kinda, sorta. Everyone else is trying to listen in and also put their two cents in to one or both of them. They kind of apologize to each other. Of course, we all know this is a faux apology, probably coming from both sides. Having the peanut gallery contribute to the conversation did not help in my opinion. It may have been one of those famous cut and spliced together scenes. It seemed a little disjointed to me.
Next week looks like it may be the start of the rift between Brandi and Lisa. Brandi wasn’t happy seeing Lisa and Kyle getting along and kidding around in tonight’s episode. Brandi has Yolanda and Carlton as besties now and doesn’t need Lisa as much anymore. Brandi’s ready to make the leap over Lisa into the housewife superstardom stratosphere. We shall see.
