  1. LavaLady (Mary) says:

Hi everyone. I am so excited for the Oscars. We were invited to a party, but it was canceled at the last minute. I am relieved. I really didn’t want to go. Just ate dinner, crock pot pot roast, so good. I made it because I bought it thinking tomorrow would be a snow day for us, but quick made it this am when the snow day became just a memory. I have seen 6 of the nominated films, which is unusual for me.

    • LaineyLainey says:

Hi LL! Which is your pick to win?

    • Powell says:

Hi LavaLady. I haven’t seen any of them but from bits I’ve seen on tv this award season and from reviews all of the films seem to be Oscar worthy which is great. I’ll see them when they’re own HBO, Showtime, etc. I don’t do pay per view. 😀

  2. LaineyLainey says:

    My picks:
    best picture – American Hustle
    Best actor: Christian Bale, am.Hustle
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine
    Best Supporting:actor: Jared Leto, Am.Hustle
Best Supporting Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, Am. hustle

Canu tell I loved Am. hustle??? Dallas Buyers and Matthew were pretty awesome, too.

  3. VV™ says:

    Can somebody translate please! 😳

    • LavaLady (Mary) says:

      no clue

    • LaineyLainey says:

Go look at it again, I asked her to translate….

      • nyc mama says:

Ha. Unfortunately you mayhave tripped her up by asking her to explain so others will understand. I’m not sure there is that capability. She can’t without her emoji’s.

        Wheeeeeeeeeeee.

      • VV™ says:

You’re so funny Lainey. Sometimes she engaged people that criticize her. We’ll see 😉

    • Powell says:

See. I keep telling you all. Kim is trying to make up for lost time. I bet if someone asks Kim what she’s talking about she won’t be able to tell them.

    • chismosa™ says:

She’s flying on a helicopter near Paris then to Japan in a kimono.

      • VV™ says:

Right, right Chianina… I got that part 😉 … but then Did the helicopter crash? …

        • chismosa™ says:

Ooooh you mean girl ! Don’t you know she lives for the explosions! SHABANG

Maybe she has a new boyfriend ? Lots of hearts and kisses …… Hmmmmmmmm

Oh I forgot one thing – she’s wearing red heels with the kimono

      • LaineyLainey says:

        Hilarious

    • AZGirl says:

Dang where is my “Kim Speak” translation book.

  4. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

It would be nice if Leo finally got his Oscar, and I’d like Judi Dench to win since her time in movies may be coming to a close with her impending blindness.

    • LaineyLainey says:

      Oh gosh, I didn’t know!!!

      • ladebra says:

She has Macular Degeneration. They have come a long way in treatment, but there is still no cure. My mom is legally blind from this (all about me). But Dame Judy said she can no longer read scripts, and so the lines are a challenge for her. What a great lady. She has entertained me for years.

        • LaineyLainey says:

I’m sorry about your mom, LADebra. Reminds me, I need to get to the optometrist, I let 2 years go by…gotta stay on top of that. Sorry for Dame Judy, too.

    • chismosa™ says:

Hey Reebs – greek mutt here (LOLLL jk)

I never knew that about JD. I know light eyes are more prone to eye illnesses but whoa.
I heard Jack Nicholson is retiring too. 😦

Just everything about that movie and how vehemently anti-catholic it is rubs me wrong. I wonder if they’d allow an anti-(another religion) get awards.
She’s a great actress don’t get me wrong.
I love Notes on a Scandal with both her and Cate B- great great movie

Don’t care for steve Coogan- he was the rumored drug supplier to Owen Wilson when Owen attempted suicide years ago and just SHADDDDY stuff came out about SC. No thanks 🙅

  5. Powell says:

NYC mama your feeling my pain too. 😀

    • nyc mama says:

I am Powell. I am with you. *bear hug*. The winter of our discontent just won’t end. I fear if this goes on much longer I am going to take a life. It won’t be pretty.

  6. Powell says:

So Lisa didn’t go to Yo’s finger painting and Brandi didn’t get her morning phone calls. So let’s give Lisa her last cigarette, blindfold her and put her in front of a firing squad.

  7. Powell says:

I think Jennifer Lawrence is like Jennifer Garner. There’s a lot of hype about her but there’s just something about her that is over played or play out. I can’t quite put my finger on it. I don’t have anything against either Jennifer but there’s just something about them and their acting.

    • R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

She’s doing a good job picking good acting roles and big box office hits. She’s getting full exposure that way, but it can backfire.

    • R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

      She fell AGAIN.

    • LaineyLainey says:

I think Jlaw is a REALLY REALLY RIDICULOUSLY good actress. I really do. She is smart and seems well adjusted in her interviews. I like the way she openly questions and criticizes what is considered “hot” by media’s bombardment of stick thin women, etc. I think she’s a good egg. She was so good Am. hustle.

    • chismosa™ says:

Powell I watched an awesome Nightline that had all these movie insiders and they feel that j-Law is trying to be careful to not be the next Anne Hathaway in terms of overexposure and gosh darn adorableness! 🚽🚽🚽

So here’s hoping she’s smart and lays low. Overexposure can be bad.
(Also Anne is insufferable, JL is faboosh)

      • Powell says:

        Yeah.

      • toodybird says:

Anne went the way of Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston. Once Adorable. Now full of themselves. Apologies to their fans. Streep/Blanchett/Jennifer Saunders/Dawn French fan.

    • mm in oc says:

J-law is amazing. Watch winters bone. Im blown away how good she is given her age. The other jennifer im not crazy about her acting

      • LaineyLainey says:

Agreed. Yes, she was wonderful in Winters Bone. I loved her in Silver Linings Playbook, too.

  8. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

I popped over to IMDB to check out some of the arrival pics and they’re all of the talk show/ entertainment news hosts. Why the hell are they posing on the red carpet? It’s not about them, but they’ll pose for hours. Give me Brad Pitt anyday. Where the heck is werewolf Joe?

  9. SJNYC says:

I just want to see the dresses!

    • Powell says:

      Yes. That’s #1, then who wins. 😀

      • SJNYC says:

To be honest I really don’t care who wins, I feel it is more of a popularity contest ever since Gwennie beat Cate Blanchett years ago. So bring the dresses on and I will happily watch True Detective…

        • R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

That was all kinds of wrong. The Weinsteins bought everybody that year. Judi Dench won for a whopping 3-minute role.

    • Constance says:

I think Ellen won the dress competition for her Glenda dress

  10. Powell says:

Watching ATL. Phadera’s sister’s name is Koesha. I didn’t pay attention to her name before.

  11. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

Not loving all the white jackets.

  12. Powell says:

Matthew Mc’s mom is pretty. She and Matthew’s wife look pretty. And Jennifer Lawrence tripped on the red carpet.

  13. toodybird says:

Love reading posters’ opinions. Have only seen one movie. August: Osage County. Torment watching it but powerful. My friends and I are STILL talking about it. Themes, characters, relationships.

My point in posting is that Naomi Watts walked by. She is a much better actress and far more beautiful than Nicole Kidman.

I guess Ellen won’t need a costume change tonight.

  14. Powell says:

Amy Adams looks gorgeous. I’d wear that gown. Beautiful.

  15. Powell says:

Kerry Washington looks cute. She’s looking comfortable with the baby bump.

  16. Powell says:

I like Naomi Watts too in the pearl dress.

  17. SJNYC says:

Lupito is stunning in that blue, with that skin she can wear anything.

  18. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

Is it just me or does Steve McQueen’s wife look like Juicy’s mother?

  19. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

Will someone ask Emma Thompson to let J-Law borrow her flip flops?

  20. Powell says:

Brad Pitt cut his hair. My mom will be happy. When he wears his hair long my mom says he looks dirty.

  21. Powell says:

    Kate Hudson looks gorgeous.

  22. sparklemuffy says:

I loved Nebraska. Bruce Dern and June Squibb are my picks–w/ Cate B in Blue Jasmine. I missed 12 years a slave and a few on best pic– so I don’t have a pic 🙂

  23. Powell says:

I’m sorry Jarrod Leno looks silly.

  24. Powell says:

Guiliana R zipper broke on her dress and Ryan was trying to help her fix it w/some blue tape. It was funny. And she’s sitting down so I don’t know how she did that.

  25. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

  26. Powell says:

I love me some Ellen. 😀

  27. Powell says:

OMG Lisa Minnelli has done just about enough to her face.

  28. Powell says:

    Ellen is too funny.

  29. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

Anne Hathaway is an even annoying presenter.

  30. Powell says:

    You picked Jared Lainey.

    • Powell says:

      Great acceptance speech.

    • R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

      Holy crap Jared… 30 seconds

    • LaineyLainey says:

I know!!! I just got home! Catching up on my dvr!!! I’m so happy for him…he was great in “Dallas”. He broke my heart from his first scene throughout the whole movie. Lump in throat. The best acceptance speech…what a moment for his brother and mom!!

  31. Powell says:

On TMZ he said he may cut his hair after the Oscars.

  32. chismosa™ says:

Oh I don’t like JLaw in strapless. 😦

She has low boobs or something — she needs straps or something on her shoulder.

    • mm in oc says:

Its b ecause they are home grown and not implants. I think she looks great!

      • chismosa™ says:

No I love natural — so much more versatile for sure — I’m saying where they lay on her – she seems to have a very long space between neck to décolletage

Tonight’s dress was structured very high though so it was better.
Looked like it had boning too

Peplum is over though …. Rachel Zoe come on !?

  33. chismosa™ says:

Did Ellen score her bestie Bethenny a ticket to this ?

  34. Powell says:

LOL Pharell’s hat made an appearance at the Oscars. His hat got a Twitter acct during the Grammy’s. 🙂

  35. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

So you slap some cover girl on Jared Leto and win an Oscar? They turned men into dwarves In The Hobbit and didn’t even get nominated?

  36. Powell says:

I see Sidney Poitier and his daughter Sidney on the front row w/Leonard and Sandra B.

    • R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

      Where did Leo’s mother go?

      • T-Rex says:

I hear they do a lot of seat switching during the presentation, especially for crowd shots, she will be back

        • Powell says:

Yeah. I read about “seat fillers” today. They work from 9a.m. – midnight. They can’t speak to the Stars when they are sitting next to them but they have to look like they belong there when the camera is on the audience. They can’t drink alcohol. Some sear fillers have been doing it for 15 yrs. They don’t get paid. They fill out a job app and a picture of them w/what they would wear is included w/the app.

          • toodybird says:

That makes me a movie store. I don’t need no money iffin I’m on the television tube. I don’t need to drink there, I ken do dat afore I git dere. Sides, I ken pop a pill. I’m not, stupit, stupid.

          • toodybird says:

Hope this is not too offensive.

      • chismosa™ says:

I saw Leo’s mom sitting next to Sandra – I wonder if they spoke German to eachother ! Love it

        • Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

Leo’s mom, “Wo ist dein Drache?”

Sandra, “Ich habe ihn in den Wagen.”

  37. T-Rex says:

OMG is Kim Novak drunk? Whoa, she looks okay for her age, but she seems totally out of it!

  38. Powell says:

    OMG Kim Novak!

  39. T-Rex says:

Love Sally Fields has not done a ton of Plastic Surgery, she looks amazing!!

  40. Powell says:

Gosh these were some fantastic films. This is a great montage.

  41. Powell says:

Lawrence of Arabia and Ghandi were on this weekend.

    • toodybird says:

Classics. If you haven’t seen The Lion In Winter, with Peter O’Toole and Katherine Hepburn (and a young Anthony Hopkins) it is worth your time. As with House of Cards, one must fixate on the script or your time is wasted and you won’t like it. Both, though, are filled with humor and deceit.

  42. Powell says:

Rebecca I thought Hobbit might win that one.

  43. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

THIS song was nominated for an Oscar? Really?

  44. Powell says:

    Wow. Those all look interesting.

  45. Powell says:

    Yummy John Stamos.

  46. Powell says:

Oh that’s good. Darlene Love talked about this.

  47. Powell says:

Kevin Spacey as his role Jim in The Garden of Good and Evil.

    • ladebra says:

Loved that movie. I have been a fan of Spacey since he did a TV series back in the 80s

      • T-Rex says:

The ONLY peeve I have with the Movie is that they made the John Cusack character a “straight man” totally ruins that part of the movie, and makes the movie unbelievable at points. The author of the book, John Berendt only got to be invited into the worlds of Gentleman Jim and Lady Chablis because he was GAY. I say SHAME ON Clint Eastwood and his homophobia(allegedly and that was the word around that set when filming), yep I said it then I say it now, he changed that character to his OWN liking. I know that Mr Berendt was peeved by the changes he made to the character

        • ladebra says:

I didn’t know that. I agree, shame on Clint Eastwood. But I still liked the movie:)

          • T-Rex says:

Re-watch the movie and pretend John Cusack is GAY and it makes WAY more sense. Jim chose John Berendt, the author of the book to do the Vanity Fair piece originally since he was openly Gay. Again, it’s how he gets in the Ladies who lunch, and some of the other events. The part played by Clint Eastwoods daughter is involved with someone else, never with John Berendt. She got a WAY bigger part in the movie, than what is written in the book.

  48. T-Rex says:

Thankfully TheVoice is on, I know it’s a re-run, but I didn’t see it the other night, so when the Oscars are getting too boring or those categories could care less about can change the channel.

  49. Exit4 says:

Remember when some guy pretended he went to the oscars and was hummed he’d missed the vanity fair party because “all his friends were going”? To quote Cher Horowitz “as if”! 🙂

  50. Powell says:

Toodybird I told you Ellen would change her clothes.

    • toodybird says:

      Haaaaaaa.

    • toodybird says:

All evening my husband (who plans to run away with Susan Sarandon. Like she will fondue with him.) And I talked about how cute her humor is. He loved the pizza shizzel. Who doesn’t heart Ellen. Fun night. Heart to you.

  51. VV™ says:

Is there trouble for Lisa? Interesting that Andy is in LA. He’s a known coward… I’m not getting a good feeling about this…

    • California35 says:

Im on my Pjs on Oscar night also, but these are my favorite pjs and i am in my comfy couch 🙂

    • California35 says:

I hope she is not in trouble 😦 hopefully the opposite 🙂

    • chismosa™ says:

I don’t get it — Lisa has to fly to ny at the orders of bravo ?

And Andy is in LA …. Is he at the oscars ?
He’s with that best buddy of his – I always wonder if they’re dating or not

  52. California35 says:

Cool!! There is a blog for the Oscars!!
    🙂

Im watching a bit delayed, so i wont read much right now.

    Beautiful Dresses 🙂

  53. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

Are you freaking kidding me? A talking dragon!!!!!!

  54. R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

    Shitty Oscars.

    • R to the E to the B to the E to the C to the C to the A says:

Oscar voters are freaking stupid. Sound doesn’t travel in outer space like that. A talking dragon is more believable than that.

  55. T-Rex says:

Charlie Theron looks AMAZING, she is such a beautiful woman, and that dress is perfect for her!

    • California35 says:

Love her! I think she is the most beautiful actress, i liked that she and “Thor” were teamed together to present an award. Both very attractive 🙂

    • chismosa™ says:

She’s the most beautiful woman it makes me angry ! Lol
(Like the review of Book of Mormon – in that funny way )

I hate black but black on blondes looks amazing ….

Not sure about the hair and makeup. Still on the fence.

      Thor is HOT 😍

      • Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

Bitch can’t pronounce “Smaug” correctly though.

        #showuptopractice

  56. VV™ says:

  57. chismosa™ says:

Where is FASSBENDER my love !!!!??? 😍😍😍

    • kit9 says:

Lol. I cant look at him now with thinking about in that sex addict movie!lol

      • chismosa™ says:

That movie is weird, fo sho. Steve McQueen and he are great friends.

But he is just walking charisma and sex appeal. I more than love him 💞💖💗
        He’s a little short but that’s ok.

  58. ladebra says:

That was a great acceptances peach 🙂

  59. T-Rex says:

UGH Ellen is ANNOYING THIS IS SO STUPID~~ Sorry thought she was going to be good, she is turning out to be really really BAD.

  60. kit9 says:

I really would love to see DiCaprio win. I know he won’t but have been waiting 20 years since This Boy’s Life to see him win. Kate Hudson look incredible as did the girl who just won best supporting.

    • ladebra says:

I agree, would love to see him win. I think he has deserved one several times.

    • LaineyLainey says:

He is amazing…this Boys Life…so good!!! Did you see Marvin’s Room?

      • kit9 says:

No, I haven’t. Leo movie? Watching TBL was one of those times I was completely blown away by an actor’s performance. If Wolf of Wall Street had hired an actual editor, it might be more in the running this year.

  61. chismosa™ says:

Sydney Poitier just looked at Ellen SO FUNNY

  62. Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

Did anyone else think Joseph Gordon Levitt and Emma Roberts made a really cute couple?

  63. Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

    I love Bill Murray.

  64. chismosa™ says:

  65. chismosa™ says:

Fassssssssssy where are you mi amor !!!!????

  66. Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

OMG Whoopie is wearing Julia Roberts’ Golden Globes dress.Ha!

    • ladebra says:

      Yes! And ruby slippers!

    • California35 says:

Is that what it is?!? I was wondering, wtheck is she wearing. But i only saw her sitting down.

      • California35 says:

Oh!! Never mind, now i see her standing up yike!!
Well at least we know she knows and doesn’t care that THAT is some weird style.

    • chismosa™ says:

      Is it ???

Have to see fashion police maybe it’s a Bit*h stole my look

      • California35 says:

Lol! Neeh – she dresses kind of funky. She added the red shiny shoes and some black and white stripes long socks (or pantyhose).

  67. T-Rex says:

OMG Liza, Liza Liza, STOP with the Plastic Surgery! OMG PINK is just FREAKIN Amazing!!!! I love PINK~!!

  68. chismosa™ says:

    Is pink not singing live?

The voice looks faster than her lips. I know it’s her, just it’s an odd delay

    Maybe it’s my tv

    • T-Rex says:

Looked LIVE on my TV and the way she was breathing, it was LIVE.

      • chismosa™ says:

No yes it was her singing — I know she sings on live wires and all that jazz — totally — but I’m telling you it was very very odd
        I LOVE pink.

I know she’s beyond amazing and that was her voice – but her neck wasn’t straining – and she had the ear piece, etc

Bono was along with his music

        I’m confused. Hmm

        • lillybee says:

I think that it was Carly Simon who said watch the necks. I do think that Bette Midler is singing live.

          • chismosa™ says:

It was totally her voice – alone. But something was off.
Maybe she was sick or something and had to pre-record ?
            I don’t know

  69. chismosa™ says:

    LOST part 2

    No thanks

  70. T-Rex says:

Okay that is funny that Ellen is Glinda the Good Witch!

  71. Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

Oh look who’s presenting – THE TALKING DRAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    #notbitteroranything

    • ladebra says:

lol. I couldn’t help myself at the end of Decimation of Smaug, I said out loud “you’re kidding! That’s how you are ending it!” Everyone was with me they all were saying Yea! Come on!

      • Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

        SMH

        #dracarys

    • chismosa™ says:

      You are HYSTERICAL

      Lollllll

  72. chismosa™ says:

    Oh god my fave movie.

    I’m such a girl

  73. chismosa™ says:

Does she still have a residency in Vegas ?
    Or somewhere …..?

  74. chismosa™ says:

TRex I have no delay on Bette.

I have to do some investigating …..

  75. ladebra says:

I like this song, but this one I like better. It’s a Beetle song, but Bette sings it so well,

    There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
    Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Woohoo! Idina Mendzel schools them all on how to sing an Oscar nominated song.

      • chismosa™ says:

        NO

Effing Jane Travolta couldn’t pronounce HER NAME!

        that’s why they REHEARSE
Ellen had to say her name 2x to reiterate. Poor thing.

        Shameful !

      • chismosa™ says:

        BONO ….lollll

I do love U2 though. This song by them is quite bland imo

  81. chismosa™ says:

Because of the enormous love for this song by young girls they should have had a small choir of girls sing a bit. That would have rocked.

      • Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

Did dragons fly in and flame them up like marshmallows?

        • kit9 says:

Well, fly in and shoot them off into the infinite coldnesss of space! Almost as good!

          • kit9 says:

I mean, I’m not saying for sure it was dragons, there was a lot of flying debris- but I cant rule it out! Space dragons! lol. Hell, ok, no dragons. I’m one of the ‘mehs’ on Gravity. Good film but not great, imo

            • Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

There was a space dragon skeleton in Star Wars, so…its possible.

    • chismosa™ says:

I saw it and liked it. But you don’t “know me ” ….
      🙍

    • LaineyLainey says:

REEBS, I loved it. So much.

By some it is thought to be technically/technologically the best movie. It took nearly ten years to complete this film..to make it so realistic,…layer upon layer, editing, coloring, The animation, the live-action, the green screening, etc. etc., …Can you tell LaineyBoy is into film?? Well his dream is to work in film; for now he edits commercials. He says that a couple of scenes of this movie brought tears to his eyes. He only wishes there had been no dialogue. (I don’t agree with that). But I did think it was beautiful.

    • LaineyLainey says:

My son just texted me he is super happy for Gravity taking the cinematography and film editing awards. I’m glad he is happy.

He said he was sad for the dragons. Layers and layers of dragons. (I kid, I kid)

Oscar speech of the night – bravo.

  84. chismosa™ says:

Love Alfonso. So happy for him. And shout out to Guillermo !

    • Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

Guillermo worked on the Dragon film, otherwise known as The Hobbit. So he’s cooler than Alfonso. Until he directs a dragon movie. Then – we’ll see.

      • chismosa™ says:

        Bwahahahahhahaaaaaaa

Pans labrynth is one of my favorite movies of all time.

        Jadore Guillermo

    Suck it, Gravity.

  86. Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

Cate is rambling…. and she missed the dragon cuz she was only in the first Hobbit film. So – wrap it up.

    • chismosa™ says:

      😋😋

    • kit9 says:

You’ve really opened my eyes to the tyranny of the anti dragon establishment. Hang my head in shame for not seeing it before.

      • Rebecca can't understand why people don't appreciate the importance of dragons. says:

It’s a total conspiracy. Everyone who didn’t have a dragon in their film, voted against the dragon film.
