Real Housewives of Beverly Hills “The Kids are All Right” by BB
This is a filler episode leading up to next week’s finale, which will take place at the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce party for the 100th anniversary of Beverly Hills. This episode focuses mostly on the mothers and daughters.
It’s the morning after Lisa had her turn at being the odd one out. Yolanda, Kyle, Kim, Brandi and Joyce meet for breakfast. Yolanda has a self-satisfied look about her and if she could pat her own self on the back, I’m sure she would. Kyle announces she needs therapy and is waiting for an apology from Lisa that she says she doesn’t think she’s going to get. Lisa obviously is not the kind of friend Kyle thinks she should be, so I wish Kyle would just move on and stop trying to get Lisa to do and say something she doesn’t want to do or say. Just saying. Kyle says she just wanted to ask a question when she had already gotten an answer from Lisa that day. She didn’t want to cause a fight or anything. Riiiiight! Kim announces she’s going to send Ken a text about the night before, but she really doesn’t want to. Whe she later finds out Lisa and Ken have left, she’s not a bit sorry. Kim is just not that nice of a person. Joyce is delusional when she says if Lisa had stayed and resolved it, it wouldn’t have become that big of an issue. Who is she kidding? Brandi really has nothing to say except she feels like everyone loves Lisa so much and she has what I think is a kind of sheepish and guilty look on her face. Yolanda conveniently returns from the bathroom and reports (with a smirk on her face) that the Ken and Lisa left at 4:30 that morning for the airport to return home. During that conversation, Kyle was constantly flipping her hair, even after she had put it back in a pony tail. It was windy and couple of the others pushed their hair back, but for Pete’s sake, Kyle couldn’t keep her hands away from her hair. So much for Joyce winning the hair flipping title.
Michael and Mauricio are golfing, so Mauricio can explain how he feels about the whole situation. Michael says all the right things to Mauricio without totally throwing Lisa and Ken under the bus. He’s good at that. For allegedly having been close friends with Lisa and especially Ken for years, Mauricio seems a little gullible to automatically believe Brandi and Kim, who wasn’t even present when Lisa’s supposedly dastardly deed took place.
The rest of the Puerto Rico trip was about the women going shopping and sight-seeing and acting like they were having the time of their lives with their closest and best friends. Then later meeting up for dinner with the guys. I will say, I loved Joyce’s enthusiasm about her home of San Juan, Puerto Rico. She seemed proud and really enjoyed showing it off to the others.
Other than the scene where Lisa is trying unsuccessfully not to cry while telling Carlton about what happened on the trip, the rest of the episode was all about moms and daughters (Brandi falls into the daughter category because she acts like a little kid). By the way, Carlton confirms that if there was a magazine, she would have seen it.
First off, there is an awkward scene where Brandi shows up at Yolanda’s house with her mom and dad in tow. Not sure what the occasion is. They get to see the famous refrigerator then invade David’s studio while he is working. David takes five minutes of his precious time to sit with Brandi’s parents while Brandi’s assistant delivers a car that Brandi will be presenting to her hardworking parents. Wait, Brandi is a poor single mom. She tells us this over and over. She has two mouths to feed. However, she manages to have an assistant and is able to buy her mom and dad a car. And still, there are those who fall for her poor little me routine. Unbelievable.
Kim and John (Kimberly’s dad) are loading up and taking Kimberly to the University of California, San Diego, which is one and one half hour away. Apparently Kim has no clue as to what your average college dorm room looks like because she’s packing enough crap to fill a three bedroom house. John and Kimberly seem to know not try to argue with Kim. They are just going along with the flow so as not to cause a casino. It’s telling that when Kim is ready to leave, Kimberly is the one reassuring Kim that they are both going to be good and do great. It should be the other way around. Kimberly further tells her mom to stay strong while she’s not there to watch after her.
Yolanda is getting Gigi settled into her luxury New York apartment. I mean, this is a nice apartment. They are carrying three bags of groceries which probably contain bottled water, almonds and maybe a couple of lemons thrown in. Yolanda wanted Gigi to take a year off between high school and college so she could make as much money as she could modeling. Smart Gigi wouldn’t do it. Gigi was going to have a roommate, but the girl’s parents decided to have her stay in a dorm. Yolanda prefers that Gigi not have the full college experience with the parties and such. She wants Gigi to focus more on work. Brandi calls Yolanda while she’s in New York so they can talk about Lisa some more. I wonder how long Gigi is going to have fresh flowers all over her apartment after Yolanda leaves. I think Gigi is relieved when Yolanda finally departs. She’s a brave girl to be in New York by herself at 18.
Kyle is doing things with her girls. Sofia and Portia are getting their ears pierced. Taylor and Kennedy are along for the ride, but I’m not sure why. Sofia takes after her mom and acts like a big baby, while Portia thinks nothing of it until the others make too big of a deal of it. Later, Kyle and her three daughters all have fun in the back yard while Kyle shows them some self-defense techniques.
The last scene shows Lisa and Ken getting ready to leave for the Chamber of Commerce party. OMG, that flower arrangement in Lisa’s house is gorgeous. Ken doesn’t want to go and run into Lisa’s so-called friends. They are not Ken’s friends after treating Lisa they way they did. Lisa tells Ken if there’s a problem, they can leave like they did in Puerto Rico. She tells Ken she’s stronger now. Ken says he’s the strong one. Lisa asks Ken not to get involved. He says he won’t but he may have to throw them out. Lisa is going to be polite, but when she left Puerto Rico, she didn’t care if she saw any of them again apart from Carlton and Joyce, she supposes. She still feels that way. She’s sorry, but she does.
Next week, the season finale, thank goodness!
