Dancing with the Stars S18E4 by BB
Scores from last week:
39 points: Merrill and Maks
36 points: James and Peta; Danica and Val; Amy and Derek; Charlie and Sharna
35 points: Cody and Whitney
32 points: Candace and Mark
31 points: NeNe and Tony
30 points: Drew and Cheryl
This week the stars have switched partners for one night only, and last week’s scores will be combined with this week’s. Julianne Hough is the guest judge. So who are the pairs? Candace and Tony (NeNe); James and Cheryl (Drew); Charlie and Peta (James); Drew and Whitney (Cody); Danica and Maks (Merrill); Amy and Mark (Candace); Cody and Sharna (Whitney); NeNe and Derek (Amy); Merrill and Val (Danica).
Candace and Tony danced the Quick Step. Their footwork looked pretty good to me. The judges criticized their hold and Candace’s upper body positions. Score: 28 (ouch!) Total Score: 60 (out of a possible 80).
James and Cheryl danced the Tango. James is a Hottie! OK, I got that out of the way. Loved the dance, it was sizzlin’, even if I have no idea how it was technically. Julianne says he the hot guy, but he’s got the talent to go with it. Score: 35 Total Score: 74
Drew and Whitney danced the Cha Cha. I love Drew Carey. He has such a good attitude even when Whitney says he is a slower learner than Cody (who is my personal least favorite star this season). The judges liked his performance this week much better. Score: 33 Total score: 63
Danica and Maks danced the Jive. Cute routine. The judges wanted more Jive and less cuteness. Julianne says she thinks Maks may have phoned it in, but Maks says he always dances like it’s his last and he did his best. Val, Danica’s regular partner (and Maks’ brother) said Danica never looked better. Score: 32 Total Score: 68
Charlie and Peta danced the Rhumba. Sultry and sensual. Len said is wasn’t a Rhumba and more contemporary. Julianne thought it was a Rhumba and beautiful, but Charlie is on his heels too much (must be a skating thing). Carrianne agrees with Len that it was not a Rhumba. Score: 33 Total score: 69
Amy and Mark danced the Salsa. Mark got some pointers from Derek about how Amy’s body moves and learns he has to be more of a sturdy partner for her than he normally is. The judges loved that she danced more on her own with Mark than she has with Derek. Score: 34 Total score: 70
Cody and Sharna danced the Fox Trot. He danced like he’s in a boy band. Maybe he’s just too young (17) to be able to dance more maturely. The judges told Cody he needs to get the details and technique of the dances down. Not his style, but try a different style. Score: 31 Total score: 66
NeNe and Derek danced Jazz. NeNe was lucky to get Derek. He’s a great choreographer and usually brings out the best in his partners. He definitely brought out NeNe’s over the top personality. This dance was totally NeNe. Len said it was her best dance so far. Score: 32 Total score: 63
Merrell and Val danced the Argentine Tango. She’s very, very, very, really good. Excellent. Len said it was the dance of the night and Julianne said she wished she could dance like Merrill. Carrianne told them they are in a class of their own and they are untouchable. Score: 39 (Len gave them a 9) Total score: 78
