Dina Manzo Goes Toxic on Twitter over Project Ladybug
Dina Manzo has a history of going on twitter rants and deleting them, but yesterday she stepped over a huge line and had tweeters livid when she attacked a blogger who passed away over two years ago. It so happens that the blogger in question is the one this blog is named after – Lynn Hudson. Even if that wasn’t the case, I’d be blogging about it. It was wrong on so many levels, and all Dina really accomplished was ruining what should have been a good day for her charity Project Ladybug as it was showcased on National TV.
The fundamental issue seems to be how touchy Dina is about the finances of Project Ladybug. Someone on twitter tweeted this:
Someone tweeted it to Dina asking if it was true, who jumped to the conclusion that it had something to do with Lynn Hudson’s blog, and tweeted:
Dina’s tweet about Lynn brought her all sorts of well deserved incoming fire on twitter. Many people just asked her to stop out of respect for Lynn’s family. She didn’t. She continued to respond and tweet nasty things over a period of many hours. Perhaps she was deflecting, because she never really addressed the original question as to why so little of the money collected by Project Ladybug went to the children.
The story many of us have heard was that in 2010 or so Jacqueline Laurita provided Project Ladybug paperwork to bloggers, including Lynn Hudson. Lynn did have the papers posted on her blog. I agree with what Namaste said in yesterday’s blog, if you are going to donate to a small charity – or any charity, do your research! Make sure your donation is going where you think it is. There is nothing wrong with providing information.
So we have Dina going toxic on twitter and attacking a woman who can not defend herself. Then – because this family isn’t dysfunctional enough – we have Jacqueline Laurita chiming in and claiming that she wasn’t the one that leaked the papers to Lynn – and said it might have been DS (or Danielle Staub). (Thank you PP for that exchange with Jaq – she’s had me blocked since the day I joined twitter.)
Danielle denied this explicitly when I asked her:
I believe Danielle. Jacqueline had a close relationship with Lynn over many years, and often provided her with gossip and her own interpretation of the ‘facts.’
The bottom line is Dina went toxic and showed her true colors. Jacqueline couldn’t resist jumping in herself. These two haven’t talked in years – and most of us assume that one of the reasons has to do with Jacqueline leaking Dina’s information to the blogs.
I have zero respect for either of these women. Zero.
It’s finale time! This year’s finale party is Dina’s Ladybug charity event. Remember that she’s worried that the twins, Amber, Teresa, or any combination thereof, may cause a scene. I’m sure that the Jersey ladies would never ruin a nice event with their fighting, haha! These ladies have been ruining nice events with their table flipping, hair pulling antics since season one!
The episode begins with Teresa and Juicy entering court on the day of sentencing. We’ve already a well written post on the sentencing, so I won’t go into detail. Juicy was sentenced to 41 months, while Teresa received 15 months. I think by now we know that the long sentenced were partially due to the continued lies about assets.
Flashback six months… Melissa is visiting Teresa. The sentencing is approaching, which is a much larger issue than anything going on between the ladies. It’s kind of nice to see the cousins playing and the ladies getting along. What a difference a year makes. Teresa wants the kids to sit and play games, but the girls want to play rough and tumble. I say, let them be kids, as long as no one loses a tooth. Teresa is trying to stay strong for her girls, though she admits that not every day will run smoothly.
Teresa A and Nicole are visiting their friend, Abbey, who has offered her house for the ladybug event. Dina arrives to help plan the event. Abbey has some very large dogs! I love Great Danes!!! (We later get a clip of Teresa hiding from the huge dogs in the closet.) Dina tells us that the event is oversold, which shouldn’t be a problem at Abbey’s huge house. She wants everyone with negative energy to stay home. The twins will be emceeing the fashion show, so everyone has chipped in to help Dina. The twins are nervous about the character of some of the people attending, such as Teresa. They know that she met with Victoria Gotti after an event, but Dina assures them that Victoria will not be at the event. It’s more than clear that Teresa A has not forgiven Teresa. In her talking head, she mentions that karma is a b*tch, clink-clink. She’s not holding anything back at this point.
Off to Amber’s house, where she’s cutting her hair for the first time in five years. Her kids hope that she doesn’t go back to bald. She tells us how hard it was to lose her hair to chemo and to grow her hair back out. She decided to grow her hair from chemo to five years post-cancer, then donate the hair to charity. I have friends that have donated hair to various cancer charities and think it’s an amazing thing. It’s very emotional for her mother because it means that Amber has been cancer-free for five years. She gets the first cut. Amber’s hair is still really long, even with the length gone. Amber’s daughter cries when she sees her mom with shorter hair, but Amber explains the reason for cutting it.
Melissa and Joey are breaking ground on their new house. Melissa is soo excited to get out of their “small” house. She was nervous about his investment in garbage at the beginning, but says that he’s pulled it off and hopes that it will be successful. She rides on the machine while Joey digs the first hole. They both realize that they are lucky and feel bad for what Teresa is going through.
It’s the day of the ladybug event. Dina is just as hands on as she used to be. She is in charge of every aspect of the décor and food at her event. There is a candyland theme, which is super cute. She’s lucky to have a loyal staff, even though she admits that she can be very intense while working. Melissa’s kids are walking in the fashion show, so she arrives early. She’s worried that there will be an altercation between Teresa and the twins. Milania also arrives early, because Milania is also walking. Dina is getting primped, while Teresa hangs out. Milania just wants to attack the candy, but Dina doesn’t want her to be too hyper during the show. Good call. Teresa lets Dina know that she hasn’t seen the twins, but that she doesn’t want there to be a fight. The twins had two weeks to call Teresa, but didn’t. Dina wants everyone to be calm and happy, and not have a fight at her event. Teresa plans to stay away from conflict. We’ll see how that works out.
It’s party time! Amber is one of the first to arrive, with noticeably shorter hair. She decided not to have her daughter in the show because of her issues with the twins. Rino and his son are close behind because his son is walking in the show. The twins, Bobby, and their parents arrive later. They are discussing Teresa on the way. Teresa A tells her mother that, despite all of Teresa’s issues, she still has time to talk smack about other people. She’s still convinced that Teresa was the one who caused the whole thing. Yes, Teresa shouldn’t have told Dina, but she didn’t run around town spreading the rumor, and she wasn’t the one who told Amber and Jim.
Kathy, Rosie, and Richie attend. He’s just as annoying as ever. The twins avoid Amber, which creates an awkward situation. Teresa doesn’t think that she and Amber owe anyone an apology because the rumor originated with Rino. It’s time for the fashion show. Milania is careful to stuff candy in her bag before she runs upstairs. Love that girl! The kids do a great job! Melissa thinks of Milania and Antonia as mini versions of herself and Teresa. Milania sure has some attitude, but I’m not sure about Antonia. During the show, Amber pulls Rino aside to apologize. Rino tells her that he would never talk about Amber or her family. He thinks that Jim is not a respectful person and is appalled that he would spread rumors about a woman and her family. Rino and Amber agree to put it behind them and move forward. I have to say, Rino has handled the situation with class, though I think it was incredibly tacky of him to even joke about sleeping with his ex-wife’s mother.
Of course, the twins chose to confront Teresa. Did anyone really think that they wouldn’t? Bobby warns them not to expect an apology. They approach Teresa and Teresa A says that she was shocked that Teresa would repeat such a rumor. Teresa explains that she repeated the rumor to Dina so that she would be protected if Amber twisted the story around. Teresa A wants people to stop spreading rumors about her and that she doesn’t understand why Victoria Gotti would spread rumors about her. She starts to call Victoria an animal, then decides that calling her animal is too nice. They ask Teresa is she’s stupid. As Dina points out, that’s her button. I’m proud of Teresa for not blowing up. She maintains that Victoria is her friend and that she didn’t say anything nasty about Teresa A. Teresa A asks Teresa to please leave any rumor about her family at the curb, with the trash. Teresa agrees. She sees herself in Teresa A, admitting that they both get upset about stupid things. Teresa A plans to move forward.
Nicole tells us how emotional the last few months have been. She’s lost a friend (Amber) and gained a friend (Teresa). Amber is sad that Jim isn’t with her at a cancer charity event, since she’s never been to one without him. Dina thanks the women who helped her with the event: Nicole, Teresa A, Amber, Teresa, Melissa. She has seen some change in everyone, and grown some herself. Melissa doesn’t know where the whole group will go, but she’s glad that she has a good relationship with Teresa. Teresa admits how worried she is about everyone else. She is sick, so she has to leave the event early.
And we’re back to sentencing day. Bravo worked quick to get this footage into the season, since the sentencing happened after the season began airing. I kind of expected it, because we know Bravo would never let something as juicy as the sentencing go by without catching everyone’s reactions.
The reactions begin with Kathy, Richie, and Rosie. They learn that Juicy will be sentenced first. They are concerned for them. They are shocked to learn that Juicy was sentenced to 41 months (3.5 years) and possibly faces deportation. Their main concern is how his sentence will affect the family. They wonder if they should have been there.
Nicole and Bobby know that Teresa didn’t want anyone there with her. She thinks that Juicy will definitely get some time. Jim tells Amber that Juicy has admitted an alcohol problem, but that Juicy withheld assets from the court. Amber hopes that the judge isn’t as hard on Teresa, but Jim thinks that she will face some time.
The Lauritas join the Wakiles to hear Teresa’s sentence. Jacqueline has a bad feeling about Teresa’s sentencing. Everyone is anxiously awaiting the prosecutor’s statement on Teresa’s sentence. They all learn that Teresa was sentenced to 15 months. They both must pay restitution. Teresa will report in January and Juicy doesn’t have to report until Teresa’s sentence is complete. Amber is shocked. Nicole and Bobby are also shocked. Richie is the first to receive the news. Kathy, Jacqueline, and Rosie are very upset for their friend and cousin. Nicole isn’t sure how to explain the sentence to her sons, but plans to tell them that actions have consequences. Amber says that she would rather go through cancer than what Teresa faces. Jim doesn’t think so. He thinks that cancer is much worse. Chris thinks that Jacqueline should reach out to Kathy. Jacqueline isn’t sure that Teresa wants to hear from her, but Chris points out that she was well-received at Juicy’s father’s wake. She decides to send a text of support to Teresa. The group is led in prayer by Rosie, who asks for compassion and strength in their family.
(Note from NMD – I’m glad Joey and Melissa didn’t participate in this part of the episode – the whole situation just makes me feel depressed.)
According to Bravo’s website, next week will be a Secrets Revealed episode, followed by the 3-part reunion. Looks like there will be lots of hard questions for Teresa and Juicy, so we’ll see if they answer or dodge again.
