The Real Story Behind Lisa R.’s Depends Ad
Lisa seems to be really enjoying this experience. She address “eating” Frank Stallone. For those that don’t know, Frank is the younger sibling of my boyfriend, Sly. They look quite similar although Frank does not look like he has the “droopy lip” thing going on.
During my incredibly fun lunch meeting with my agent, we talked a lot about sponsorships and endorsements. Of course, as a part of this conversation, my Depends commercial came up as we discussed my career and any future endorsements. I’ve had many people ask me why I would do the Depends commercial, and the answer is really quite simple:
By doing this commercial, the contract stated that $250,000 would go to a charity that is very special to me: Dress For Success. Dress For Success empowers disadvantaged women to reach their professional potential by providing them with both the attire and tools they need for success in the workplace and in life. I mean, how could I say no to the opportunity to provide some much needed funds to such an amazing and woman-centric charity?! Besides, the fact that 50 million people deal with incontinence, and I am honored to represent those that still want to look and feel glamorous. And c’mon ladies, don’t tell me you can’t relate… We’ve all peed a little at some point in our lives after sneezing, am I right?
Bottom line is this–charity and the empowerment of women are two very powerful things to me, and I was, and still am, very proud to support both by doing this commercial.
I gotta say, there is no better reason to do this commercial than to get cash for an amazing charity. And who cares? There are race car drivers doing commercials for viagra. People tinkle in their panties and hey, when I get to be of a certain age, I wanna know there are options that aren’t gonna make me look like I am wearing a diaper. So for the haters that thought she was a sell-out for doing this, let them donate to a charity and STFU.
Lisa addresses the haunted house
When Amelia and Bella were talking to me about the ghostly noises they heard, I played it off as if I wasn’t believing them. Fact is, I can’t prove it, but I believe there is indeed a female ghost named Karen that lives with us. She died in the house back in 1980, and I know she absolutely loves the girls and loves to be around them. Karen had a 3-year-old daughter when she passed away, so I feel like she really presented herself to us when the girls were just babies. She’s a good ghost. A protective spirit that I’m grateful to share my home and family with. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s just a feeling I have.
While I don’t really “believe” in ghosts, to each their own. If I did believe, I prob would never go in my basement again. Freddy Krueger made it very difficult to do laundry in my basement growing up so for now, I choose not to believe. Lisa sends us hugs and kisses. I am quite enjoying her. Please don’t spoil this for me Lisa!
I Was Surprised Adrienne Was So Receptive
Brandi starts out by talking about her move. Seriously? The only thing remotely interesting about this scene was Jake Ryan…and not THAT Jake Ryan. The original Jake Ryan (Sixteen Candles). Oh how I miss John Hughes. Brandi then goes on to talk about her on again off again boyfriend J.R. This guy allegedly had an affair on Brandi and then she decided to stalk him. Right.
Kim decides we should stalk J.R., because in her head, if I were to see him with the “other woman” then I will somehow get completely over him. It didn’t really make sense to me, but I was sure it would be an adventure. I honestly have never stalked anyone before, but I assumed we would be wearing black and trying to go unnoticed. I arrive at Kim’s house, and she is wearing a bright yellow shirt, white jeans, and tons of jewels and tells me she has costumes for us to put on. I’m game, because we always have fun together, though I’m not really sure that I want to see J.R. with the “other woman,” but at least I have Jake Ryan to keep my mind off the deceit and heart break. As I have always said, “If he cheats with you, he will cheat on you,” so I decide to try and put J.R. (the older one) in my past once and for all (or so I thought).
Seems as though Brandi has learned nothing from her past. She seeks out these “bad boy” types who cheat on her. She might want to take a step back from dating and figure out why she dates these types.
When I see David walk into his kitchen to find Yolanda in lingerie all I can say is wow! She has a perfect body and David is one lucky man. There is not one ounce of fat on Yolanda’s body when she is complaining to her housekeeper, but i get it. We are all our own worst critics. I really see that Yolanda and I feel the same way about Kim. She is a sweet soul, and we kind of feel like we need to take care of her in a way. Kim has a lot on her plate and we want to be there for her.
Argh. Why say Yolo has a perfect body and not an ounce of fat on it? Shows that Brandi only values that ridiculously super-skinny ideal that Hollywood is famous for. And BTW, Yolo has a “natural” aging body at this point. She looks fabulous for her age, but has curves where she should have them and yes, I think she looks beautiful and it was cute seeing her squeeze into a pair of jeans cause we can actually relate to that!
Observing Lisa Rinna at lunch with her agent, I can tell what a really hard worker and hustler she is. There is no shame in her game, and I like it! She is a mama bear taking care of her cubs and will do whatever it takes to provide. Having been married to an actor, I know show business is. It’s very fickle. One minute you’re hot, the next you’re not, and sometimes you do things that you may not always be proud of to make a buck. I like Lisa at this point.
Lisa IS a hustler…but Brandi just showed her hand in that very last sentence.
I’m in a pretty good headspace in my life after the experiences I’ve been through over the last year, and I’m ready to make peace with Adrienne Maloof. I run into her often, and it is very uncomfortable to know and see someone and not even say a simple hello. I decided to ask Adrienne to go for coffee when I saw her at the annual White Party, hoping we could clear the air, and I wanted to apologize for my part in our argument. I 100% take full responsibility for what I said. I shouldn’t have said it, and I will not say it again. I was very surprised and happy that Adrienne was so receptive to moving forward with me. In this group it’s very important to keep your own voice and not pick sides. I have learned my lesson and now say hello to Adrienne every time I run into her.
Sorry Brandi. I am not buying it. I know you apologized and perhaps you are sincere, but the next time you feel attacked I am pretty sure you are gonna say some pretty nasty stuff and your defense will be “I fight back”. I am actually surprised Adrienne was willing to sit down with her. She is a bigger woman than I cause I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near Brandi.
A Homemade Meal Goes a Long Way.
Our favorite little lemon greets and acknowledges the record ratings that WE brought in last week. Your welcome. Yolo believes Lisa R. and Eileen will bring an authentic flavor to the group. Yolo appreciates Lisa R.’s ability to “laugh all the way to the bank.”
As for all of us parents raising children in a privilaged world, the greatest challenge is to keep our children humble, grounded, and hungry enough to create succes on their own and experience that great sense of accomplishment that comes with that.
I am not sure how a family can do this when so much is there and the idea of keeping up with the Jones is a lifestyle. We are a “Upper Middle Class” family and I think my kids are spoiled so I imagine it is nearly impossible to accomplish this in Beverly Hills.
Kim and Brandi crack me up. They are like The Single Girl’s Guide of What Not to Do. I am looking forward to watching these two partners in crime, because I’ve heard through the grapevine that they are going to get into all kinds of trouble.
This scene seemed overly staged and scripted. I thought they looked like fools.
Riding with Kim was so much fun. She makes me laugh. We giggled and rode our little hearts out. I haven’t sat on a horse for the past three years, so it was extra special for me to be out in nature and to have a chance to reconnect with my friend on such a beautiful day.
For those that want to know, I ride western…in a big comfy saddle while wearing jeans and a sweater. Yolo would be mortified.
It is lovely to see Lisa V. taking our beautiful Shiva under her wing and showing her the ropes in Beverly Hills. She’s definitely got this figured out, because Ken ended up doing a good job with her birthday present.
I doubt this very much. This might be the core of their issue.
Date night with my love just puts a big fat smile on my face. We were supposed to go to Nobu that night, so his reaction to this little surprise was worth all the effort of putting it together. Nothing makes me happier then seeing that spark in my hubby’s eyes.
I love to love and crave intimacy, but the truth is that I did have to remind myself of my own quote a couple of times the past two and a half years. Everyone battling an illness or just juggling the pressures of life knows how hard it is to hang on to that most important part of our relationship sometimes.
I think this rings true or everyone.
I always tease my husband, saying he married a lemon, because while I shined so bright the first seven years of our relationship, I kind of lacked a little these past two, but I do know a homemade meal and a good bottle of wine goes a long way.
Nice to know she is aware of her nickname… She goes on to remind us of her wedding vows “through sickness and through health” and how David’s love and support have helped her live through her lyme disease. Through pics I have seen on FB and Twitter, it looks like Yolnda has been in Korea receiving some cutting edge treatment and state sin her blog that she is on her way home to have Thanksgiving dinner at Mohamed’s. She wishes us a happy and healthy Turkey Day. I wonder if Gigi is allowed to have pie (without the crust)? Maybe just a sliver.
Brandi and I Always Seem to have Fun
Kim claims to have missed us and wishes us a Happy Thanksgiving. She apologizes for missing up these last few weeks claiming she was traveling. Kim seems to have grown close to Brandi. I do notice that Kim is the only one that Brandi hasn’t attacked since the initial “attack” in season 2. I guess cause these two are the only “single” girls they have a few things in common. One would hope that Kim’s “non-whorish” behavior would rub off on Brandi a bit.
I decided to take matters in my own hands and help her get over him. Yes, I decided to take her on a stalking mission! We had to go undercover! We had so much fun. Just getting ready was fun. I was and wasn’t too surprised to hear Jake Ryan had spent the night! Oh my! Even more apparent that it’s time Brandi to find The Real Deal! I’m on a mission. So off we go to seek out J.R. and the other woman. I thought if Brandi could just see J.R. with this other woman she would realize once and for all he is playing both sides! Having his cake and eating it, too. Then she can move on, stop being hurt, and stop wasting time. So there we were in Beverly Hills in the bushes! Running down the street looking for hiding spots. We finally found him…alone! I guess my idea didn’t really work. But the way I look at it is if we feel the need to stalk, it’s the wrong guy! And she knows it! But we did have fun. And laughed a lot. So thanks J.R.! I love my Brandi and will do anything for her.
Again, this scene was overly staged and ridiculous. Have I ever stalked a guy? Yes, in my 20s.
Another person I just love is Yolanda. From the first time I met her we clicked. I saw something in her that is genuine, real, and kind. We had a small bump in the road, but that is behind us! We have been going through some of the same things lately with both our girls leaving for college. Yolanda and I have a few things in common: our love for our children and our love of horses. She always puts her kids first, as I do. She’s an amazing mother! It was so nice to be able to go out and ride with a girlfriend, and especially one that can really ride! It was so nice to catch up about our lives and our children. I truly love Yolanda and the friendship we have! I really admire the person she is and enjoy our girl time together.
Well, Kim certainly is declaring her love for certain people. Kim hopes we enjoyed this episode as much as she did. She plans to see us next week. I won’t hold my breath.
When You Reach Out, You are Rewarded
Lisa begins by apologizing for her tardiness with her blog; she posted hers on the 28th. She has been busy with the restaurants, holidays and decorating. I forgive her. She acknowledges she appears very spoiled this week with the custom made shirts and jewelry. She loved every minute of it.
The story of Magdalena was an example of sometimes when you reach out to someone unexpectedly, you are often rewarded in a surprising way. I saw her struggling up the long hill in the heat, and I pulled over. I have often offered rides to women walking. She was nervous about getting in, she was going for an interview, and it was a very long walk. I knew she was hesitant and her English was limited, so she resisted the chance of a ride. I was almost laughing telling her I did not want to kidnap her and to trust me! When we found the house, I gave her my number.
Anyway that was a year ago, and I adore her…
I can imagine this is not the first or the last time that Lisa has done this. She seems to take in a lot of “misfits” and tries very hard to help them. Remember when Camille’s friend accused her of having a “Jesus Complex”. No, that title never quite fit Camille, but Lisa might be a better fit for it.
Shopping with Shiva was cute. She is a good friend, and as I explained, we always have a good time together. The pink sapphire was an extraordinary ring, and trust me, I was willing to use my female powers to put it on my pinky. You will see later what happens with that…
This was a cute scene and I enjoy seeing the “excesses” of Beverly Hills. I still think we could dedicate a whole episode to “Tea in Lisa’s Closet” and we would all tune in.
Seeing Miss Glanville with Adrienne was rather surprising for me. I am glad that she saw the situation clearly when remarking that she had to take responsibility for her own actions, not to cowardly try and alleviate herself from the catastrophe that she created.
We have seen this too many times before. Brandi behaves badly. Brandi endures intense criticism during the off-season and attempts to re-vamp her image. Brandi apologizes. The difference between Brandi and normal people is when the rest of us apologize, we mean that we wish we had never had done what we are apologizing for and if we had it to do again, we wouldn’t do it the same. Brandi says, “When I am provoked, I bite back.” Um, that doesn’t seem like an apology.
I remember so clearly, gently chastising BG in the kitchen, still believing naively that her intentions weren’t all bad. In fact, that was probably the beginning of my realization of who we were dealing with.
Hmmmm…. I don’t see a lot of forgiveness here. I am reminded of a little saying: Shit on me once, shame on you. Shit on me twice, shame on me.
I laughed when viewing her (Lisa R.) with her young agent. You will enjoy getting to know her. Her energy is boundless and positivity infectious. I do believe you will be introduced to Eileen next week. Things change rather rapidly I am afraid, from this gentle start.
I still like Lisa R., but am well aware we are only 2 episodes down with a long road ahead. Lisa foreshadows a rapid turn of events which I am sure will bring some big drama. Lisa wishes us a Happy thanksgiving. She thanks us for our support and as always…love. She so totally loves me and if I was walking up a hill, she would pick me up. We would go shoes shopping and she would dress me in all pink. We would do each other’s hair. We surely would be BFF.
I Would Take a Road Trip Over a Plane
Kyle jumps right in talking about Brandi’s movie, Lisa V.’s custom-made shirts and heading to Lake Tahoe.
Whenever we are getting ready to head out of town, my house is like the movie Home Alone…total chaos! I seriously get nervous someone will be left behind in the midst of it all. We always do a head count in the car. So far, fortunately, it hasn’t happened.
Well, this is something I CAN relate to. When we leave for vacation it is usually a debate as to how much crap we can fit in the SUV. We usually look like we are moving when we are only planning to be gone a week. Kyle goes on to talk about her fear of flying which somehow she gets over whenever she has a chance to fly on a private plane. One little detail I found annoying and perhaps it was a production thing…The Making of a Selfish Porsha. The edits are mean, but if Kyle continues to allow her kids to be filmed, production is gonna take advantage of these situations.
Watching Brandi and Kim “stalk” J.R was funny. I can remember my sisters’ friends doing “drive-bys” past their boyfriends’ homes back in the day. Now it’s called stalking. I remember hearing about this and how excited they were that they actually saw J.R alone. J.R works at The Agency, so I’m glad he didn’t see them and think a “brunette Kim” was me!
Not sure there is one among us who hasn’t done the “drive-by” but we were probably in our teens then and not in our 40s. My question, why does Kim have all those wigs?
Brandi’s apology to Adrienne was long overdue. I remember how devastated Adrienne was at the time and how badly Mauricio and I felt for her and Paul.
This apology was so way past its overdue date. She waited over 2 years to apologize for her horrible behavior and still managed to throw Lisa under the bus for her reckless words.
Yolanda looking amazing in lingerie while serving dinner was inspiring. I love that she makes that effort with her husband. My house is always full of so many people that it wouldn’t be possible around here. Maybe when the kids are grown and out of the house I will give this a shot. Maybe.
My husband and I celebrated 21 years together. I can say, I have never served him dinner in lingerie. Maybe I will save that for the 25th. Probably not.
Kyle likes Lisa R.’s “go get ‘em” attitude and calls her a hard worker. She is excited for us to meet Eileen this coming week. She sends us Xs and Os. Surely meant solely for me.
